A classic fragrance from Gucci, created for those who love warm, woody scents. Its spicy, but fresh top notes include mandarine, coriander, pepper, rosewood, ginger and lavender. The heart is composed of floral bouquet made of rose and jasmine, spiced up with some carnation and warm woody nuances of sandalwood and cedarwood. Envy for Men was launched in 1998.

I had it a couple years ago Why is it discontinued ? Really don't know. Very distinguished and unique fragrance. I associate it with exceedingly handsome and attractive catholic priest but unreachable for every women- sanctity and sin in the same time. Very balmy with the one of the best incense in whole perfume world. Masterpiece -unquestionably.
Too bad it is discontinued. The best men fragrance from the Gucci line, don't know why they don't bring this back, at least with a newer formulation. Opening is strong, but then the dry down is gorgeous. Great scent stays on for long, projects great, a night out scent, elegance in a bottle. BRING IT BACK!
I really miss this fragrance. it's sensual and sexy and yet cold and a bit mean.
Gucci should bring it back, their fragrances from the Tom Ford era were wonderful. the new once are just disappointing and boring. very sad that because of what seems like ego we cannot purchase this great juice nowadays
Another over rated fragrance. Yeah, it was nice in it's heyday because it was one of the first fragrances to feature ginger in it, but today there's a ton of ginger based fragrances. It does smell nice, but the major knock on Envy is that it's discontinued, it's expensive, and it doesn't last or project that well. 7 out of 10.
Last winter my cousin visited from abroad and I met him one night for drinks. When I greeted him with a hug I smelled such a beautiful masculine scent which the thought of it stayed with me for days. I loved that hug. A week later I emailed him asking what he was wearing and then he called me and said he had to explain because it was a long story. He told me he was wearing Gucci Envy for Men and that it was discontinued and when he was in NYC the previous summer he scoured along Canal St buying any remaining bottles (which was 2) and now he's almost out of it. I don't remember what it smelled like but I'm dying to smell it again. I just spoke with him the other day and he said if I find it I have to buy him 4 bottles. I really feel that I missed out on this.
Best of Gucci.
Envy opens with a luminous with lavender and spicy with ginger, feel a combo of green notes, do not know if the coriander causes that feeling.
This green body becomes creamy middle with the appearance of sandalwood and also spicy, reconciled the previous notes, I feel in facets.
Subsequently the background appear the vanilla and incense, or is the amber, is a intriguing scent that has some complexity, feel light touches of tobacco that give a more classic and sober, complex dizzying scent!
A muted scent, indeed.
Man, this stuff is great. I have probably the last reformulation, the blindingly bright neon Hi-C-Ecto-Cooler-Green juice. I get the comparisons some have made with V&R Antidote. Antidote is a touch more floral/sweet-spicy/cool-incense whereas Envy is more warm-spicy/warm-incense. Even my humble reformulation reeks of quality, although I think I over-hyped it in my own mind to be this spicy, fragrant, elegant bomb...it's definitely more subtle than I anticipated. I can't see any problem wearing this for work or during summer nights. Whatever sillage/projection may have existed in earlier versions has surely been muted.
With all that said, I probably wouldn't have pursued this as fervently as I did (or drop the coin that I did). To me, this is an "artifact", a piece of fragrance history to own just to say you have it.
I have now very few amount of this frag, but I absolutely love it. From the first sniff I fell in love with it.
On my skin it's spicy and a little bit fruity. The main notes I detected were: ginger(a lot of it :D), a little bit corriander and cardamom, quite a lot of incence, a hint of vanilla and amber.
This one is definetely a spicy perfume. It suits cold months better, 'cause it's quite heavy and can be cloying in hot temps or even in warm weather.
It fits perfectly for the suit, but for casual is also very good. Age doesn't matter, I'd say.
I love it and I cannot understand why Gucci decided to discontinue it and replace it with such crap like Guilty...
I'm not rubbing it in. I know that by saying that, it probably comes across otherwise. Well, it's too late...I've typed it. I purchased a bottle of 'ENVY' a few years ago from a discount kiosk at a local mall for an obnoxiously low price; all the while unaware of the gem I'd procured.
You can find similar qualities of this juice in offerings from other houses. Note the ginger, which is warm but not overtly spicy, similar to that of Opium PH. The incense-like sandalwood does not impart smoke, but a smoothness carrying varioius spices enticing your olfactive desire. However, the culmination of ingredients, blending and time give this character unique unto itself.
If you can find it for any price, it's probably worth it. Considering the demand, if you were disappointed, the resale could pay for your previous purchase.
ok i found a bottle for roughly 100 bucks and i was wondering IS IT WORTH THE PRICE? any opinions?
Okay I bought this about two years ago and I am now finding out that it is apparently not being made anymore. I LOVE this scent. It is one of my fave and it is versatile as I get away wearing this in the winter or on a summer night. It smells like an extremely high quality incense in my opinion and I mean that in the best way possible. I love this and people around me love it as well. Longevity is great and sillage is projection is good as well. I really hope they bring this back because I only ave half a bottle left so I will be using sparingly from here on.
I really miss this scent. It was warm and woody and dried out wonderfully. I would do anything for more of it.
What a wonderful complex scent. I almost forgot how amazing this scent is as I've forgot about it and then it was discontinued. Recently I've come across some 50ml bottles for a great price. I can't stress enough how complex this fragrance is and how upon wearing it, it's like wearing a play and the different acts play out during the day. The longevity is amazing 12hrs+ and the projection is amazing too.
This and Gucci pour homme 2 are the best of the house.
its an oke scent,i kind of miss a twist i give it an 6 overall. i think it smells a bit like xeryes rouge
In 2010, I had blind bought this for 40 dollars and it was very well worth it. Envy is the modern day narcissist's fragrance. Hypnotic and sexual on one hand, yet deep and grounding on the other. It conjures up images of a highly successful and powerful man in his late 20s, who has girls chasing after him and all the guys envying him. Yes this fragrance lives up to its name.
chanchita & Angeldelight900, totally agree :D makes him sooo desirable
I got this gem last year as birthday present from my close friend, and since then I just put it in the closet. Today, impulsively I opened it and sprayed on my skin....it is gorgeous, it is dark, smoky, and warm...really a gentleman scent! I am glad that I have it in my collection, and at the same time feel pity since it is discontinoued :(
Update: longevity is very good, I sprayed at 8AM and 9PM I still could smell it! Collagues said..."you smell very nice!"
Gucci Envy for Men (original lighter green formulation): Let us sing in chorus our collective desire for a more muddled and less distinct scent than this discontinued Gucci juice. Its warm ginger top note is appropriate only for those who enjoy smelling like a perfect hug feels. If being chased and adored by women seeking your vital bodily fluids is something you want then by all means give a spray or two of this green monster. For the rest of us we can enjoy our safe scents alone sniffing our by the numbers aquatics or synthetic masculines. Gucci envy is for the social animal and I am no animal. Oh good, 1 Million...
This one is a distinctive one, i will always know it when i smell it, it has a uniqueness to it which i love, very manly but not old man like. I do like this one on a man, nice for a night out, strong as well in a good way.
Gucci Envy happens to be one of my all time favorite fragrances! It is truly an amazing masterpiece! This is one of those fragrances that you can say "they dont make em like this anymore"! Gorgeous sexy intoxicating fresh spicy smell. Some feel it is a little more for the mature crowd, I feel that it is old school but modern at the same time.. I am 19 and love to wear it! It is a somewhat fresh, very spicy, woody, and I love the incense note! Longevity and projection are great with this one also.. It packs a punch! Sexy masculine and intoxicating! LOVE IT!
I have a small 5ml bottle that i've kept away for a long time, waiting for a special occasion to wear it, i don't really like Gucci's current fragrances for men. BUT THIS, is spellbinding, gorgeous fragrance. I find it dark, spicy, citrussy, why do all my favourites get the bullet!!
I was born in really bad time that all of my beloved things are discontinuing one after another or find scarcely. All by accident I found this one, not for sale unfortunately, and gave it a try.
Oh boy, that is magnificent, just plays like the way a male peacock attracts the female one. A heavy but really gentle and modest masculinity comes from that oriental exoticism. A perfect formal/casual choice.
Gucci was better to regenerate this rather than Guilty.
I just inspected my bottles and when I took the cap off the aftershave discovered that there is only about .5 fl oz of after shave..
If any one wants this I would be willing to send it to you if you pay shipping.. Maybe you have a sample for me.. Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille?? Tauer Perfumes L'Air Du Desert Marocain?? Something from Europe I need to try?? Lets swap.
I live in Florida USA so keep that in mind.
I love this scent on a man it drives me crazy. When I first encountered the scent while at work I didn't know where it was coming from and I was asking the men around me " who smells sooo good who is wearing cologne" and collectively they said " He is" and sure enough he turned red and smiled. I praised him and asked him what it was. Shortly after it was discontinued. Sadly I haven't been able to find it. This was the first cologne that made my senses go crazy. I've never bought a cologne for my husband...I haven't found anything that awakens my sense of smell like Envy!
This was my signature scent for a few years..It was definatley an evening cologne..I had my compliments while wearing..I wish Gucci would re consider..
I am lucky to still have some of this.. I am using what I have very conservatively..
I have aprx 2 fl oz of the cologne and 2 fl oz of the after shave..
I sure hope Gucci brings this back befor I run out..
Great cologne.
very strong.. wear only for nights out etc
I could make this a very very long review about how much i adore this fragrance but i will try to keep it short.
I own several bottles of this stuff and have worn it for years so ive studied it quite a lot.
It's easily my number 1 fragrance of my collection of about 60
It's perfect, a Tom Ford masterpiece, Perfectly balanced, not too cloying, not too sweet, still smells masculine but in a great way.
I can understand why some people dislike one formulation over the other, it depends how you were bought up with it.
If your used to the original the re-form smells more upfront and upto date with a bigger blast of lime, sandalwood and ginger.
I still love both, but slightly prefer the later version.
Bottom line is nothing smells like this, with other fragrances you can often find a duplicate, this is so unique.
I work with 12 women at work and they all love it.
So sad its dying off now, if you see it buy it.
I'm normally one for sweet, clolying fragrances, and not usually drawn to florals. But, this makes a nice change. There's also a note that smells like the herb Basil throughout. I just know I get lots of compliments when I wear this one.
I bought it to my father...even my sister bought it... one of my x bought it after my recommended.
my father's friend ask him for the perfume name...it's like someone create it exactly for my dad, he fall in love with it, he loves "heavy" perfumes. but there's no more this perfume in Israel!
I've been told they stop create the perfume! too bad, one of the unique!
@layken39
It's a lucky and funny mistake :)))
This is the third time I've edited this review and my third wearing of Gucci Envy for men, original less-green formulation.
This fragrance is very well done. The sweet incensey wood drydown is fantastic and the ginger/cardamom opening is indicative of many of the later designer releases but is generally better than the rest. It is sophisticated and solid but, though it's no fault of the fragrance itself, it still reminds me of things that play the same tune poorly. This is the height of designer fragrances of the late 90s. I love it for what it is.
It's a fact. As evidenced by the rose-tinted, nostalgic reviews here and the above illustrated proportion of love vs. likes on this scent, people will pine for whatever they can't can't have. Given the glowing, effervescent, superlatives bestowed at the foot of this discontinued fragrance, I'd really hate to see what it's reviews would be like were it still in production. Maybe you ought to "love" it MORE, people, or else, just keep crying me a river, and move on...
What a shame.
What a goddamn shame.
Did Leonardo ever say "eh fuck the Mona Lisa..I am going to discontinue painting it?"
Did Michaelangelo say "ahh hell with this ceiling..I am done with this shit."
Hell. No. They kept going. And now, their works are still, present, to this day, touching the lives of everyone.
Am I on my way to making Gucci Envy sound like an earth shattering masterpiece? You bet your ass I am.
Because it is.
This is what you call the epitome of masculine. Long before elegance was defined by unique notes like anise, guiac wood, fruits, and other novel ingredients used in perfume, you had the early 90s fragrances like Envy, and D&G Pour Homme...scents that truly existed in juices that squirted from fountains of youth...fragrances that never aged, and knew no boundaries....timeless.
Gucci Envy is perhaps, THE most timeless of the early 90s scents, in my opinion. This shit is pure heaven. It is seductive, it is fresh, it is spicy, it is mystical, and it really is a versatile scent.
I did not know many people wearing this then, nor do I now (well it is no longer made)...but trust me..this is one of those fragrances that I will cop everytime I see a decent price to ensure I have a collection waiting in my house for some future fragrance nut to take and cherish when I am dead.
10/10
I NEVER endorse blind buys...this is one I will say..."up to youuuu...."
Absolutely, STUNNING...if you ever wondered why perfumes, came to be, this scent says it all. Every single time I wear this, someone says something like, "My GOD, what are you wearing?!"...and Ive never had anyone say, "oh, thats Gucci".
this is an individuals' fragrance..its not for sheep.
Uber-Classy! Magnificent scent and my personal favorite from the house of Gucci.
Starts off surprisingly fresh and dries down to an absolute stunner. The incense, tobacco and vanilla notes are really accentuated in this wonderful dry-down. Also, its longevity, sillage and smell are utterly impeccable!
Some might accuse me of being too extravagant in my use of superlatives to describe Gucci Envy, but trust me people, it truly deserves every bit of the appreciation. Pity it has has been discontinued. Needless to say, I'll be stocking up. Must ensure that i have a lifetime supply of Zino Davidoff and Gucci Envy at my disposal. Two of my all-time favorites DISCONTINUED!!! SIGHHHH !!
Lets just say, you gotta have a little hair on your chest to wear this one!!!
Amazing matured scent. So glad I got my hands on this one!!
People or companies selling this frag for way over it's original retail cost, can pretty much go screw themselves. C'mon, are you serious...it's not that good. It's not Pure Malt for crying out loud. Get a grip, and return to planet earth.
My all time favourite frag on hubby! It's HIS signature scent and I absolutely love snuggling up to him smelling this. It's manly, warming, reassuring, sexy, sensual yet a little bit fresh all at the same time. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...
Among others, this includes notes of patchouli, amber, and vanilla (not listed above). However, there isn't great note separation here. The lavender is too strong for me, or perhaps it is how it is combined with other notes. Then there is a base with strong cedar, amber, and patchouli, which I also find irritating (it has a kind of creamy quality which gets nauseating for me after a while). I also find it a bit "synthetic," though that may be largely due to the tight blending and certain note combinations. So, it's difficult for me to say whether this one is "good" or not, because it's definitely not for me. As to ones I like that are vintage spicy orientals, I would include the original Guess for men (not in he database yet) and Opium Pour Homme (EdP or EdT). Some have claimed that Envy for Men may have been reformulated, so keep that in mind (not sure which version I tried, if there is more than one). If you want a cheap (but quite decent) substitute, espeecially if you don't want the strong patchouli, try Avon's Mesmerize. If you want to "step up," try Santal by Floris, Carven Homme, ST Dupont's Signature Pour Homme, Eryo, L'Occitane's Vetyer, or Rocabar, among others that are similar).
Envy by Gucci is an intense experience. Like your first trip to Rome, it like the Eternal City is layered beautifully, with the smells of food, and gardens all rich aromas of red Italian wines. Florence smells like expensive warm leather, Venice smells of sharp crisp sea salt and grappa. But Rome is unique and Envy takes me back to Rome every time I put it on. The oriental ginger, incense, amber, patchouli, along with anise, nutmeg, give it a gourmand glamour and the musk, Cedar wood and cardamom bring in the feeling of the Borghese gardens on a steamy roman summer night. The color, did I mention the beautiful color of the juice? The color is arrestingly beautiful, like the new green of the sycamore trees in early spring along the Tiber.
I am just swept away by this elegant and supremely Italian fragrance that is as gorgeous as the men and women of Rome. Ché bella città, ché bella fragranza!
Solid Five Platinum Stars *****
I bought it 2 days ago,and still not got a fully mature
idea about it...which might be not correct bz my worry is the fragrance is dissoluted due to long time shelving or not very original.
nonetheless, its a multi faced one with average longevity !!(on my skin).
swinging between spiciness and other soft accords.
p.s: simply I bought it bz it has overwhelming +ve feedback and it was the last piece at that faked perfume shop :-).
I > Envy > me .
Envy by Gucci, This scent is another gun, because its notes are very persistent create incredible aura.
And to think that the first time that smelled almost left me horrified (it was probably due to the opulence of his notes), but I quickly learned to appreciate it, in its bouquet one can not help but fall in love with no spices in opening and the generous heart of carnal flowers like the rose or the kind of humidity that seems inherent in the jasmine, the fund is a whirlwind of emotions with amber tobacco leather incense and a surprising (note this is really great), if I could describe it
best fragrance is a very persuasive, but it differs a lot from classic scents, Envy has the gift of originality is difficult to beat, and despite the years to a layman, could be mistaken for a contemporary fragrance, this is one of the greatest expressions in the field perfumery, and it is incredible that the well-being can give.
To be missed ... even for the faint of heart.
Envy ... in this case is not one of the 7 deadly sins.
The end-zone of the reaction of this fragrance with skin leaves a sweet powdery scent. This is where the forceful vs. fragile projection debate ends. In my opinion it does not project forcefully, but that's part of its construction it is not a weakness but a strength. The wearer comes off as intelligent, unpretentious and capable.
Love this - it took me a while to come back to Gucci Envy. Had it back in the late 90's/early 2000 or so and liked it, a lot. Then, I took a hiatus and Tom Ford left Gucci - Envy has been discontinued. Alfarom said it right...this is a special fragrance to me too, as it opened my olfactory spectrum wider (it is a wonderful designer fragrance). Coriander, pepper, ginger, invigorating freshness, smooth floral notes and then some beautiful intertwined incense and patchouli with cedar. The vanilla and amber give it a great, warm oriental base. 8.5+/10 - this is a chic "new classic", but not a true 'masterpiece'. Reserve that name for the truly phenomenal fragrances that paved the way for scents like Gucci Envy to be formulated (like Gucci Pour Homme Original - 1976). Talk about divinity - that was Gucci in the mid-to-late 70's & 80's...a true masterpiece chypre that ranks among the best of ALL time.
Great reviews by Aquila_2009 and the always wonderful missk (your reviews are always a joy). Cheers!!
**Revised Update/Score** - I have done several "full wearings" of Gucci Envy for Men and enjoyed the After Shave Lotion (which is a great compliment to the EDT). I find the note pyramid extremely well-integrated...I am now able to pull individual notes out with precision. This has actually not just impressed me, but others around me. This definitely gets attention. Compliments flow - I guess "Envy" does exist in this juice! ;-)
What is most interesting, I find, is to smell the juice on others - as we all have different body chemistry, pH, etc. For kicks, I begged (as if I needed to) and my best friend put a nice full shot on their wrist - rubbing it all over, including the top of their hand (for better note break down and it is off the pulse point and you can identify top and middle notes more distinctly). One shot - it had a projection of 7-8 feet until the drydown, where it still radiated off the skin with the great incense, amber & vanilla - all sitting on a nice "bedding" of patchouli! Incredible and eye-opening as I had not smelled this scent on someone else for years. I get very good projection of this scent when I wear it - but this was awesome! The single shot still had a very nice aroma about 6"-1' off the skin at over 3 hours.
After my wearings and layering with the After Shave, as well as my friend allowing me to borrow his skin...I am seriously more fond of this already great scent. My revised score - 9/10. It is juice that Tom Ford should be truly proud of, as I am so very happy to have it in my collection.
Cheers!
I tried so hard .. to like it but i am sorry to say this is not my style , i cant stand , too much ambre and old herbs which make it cloying and headache inducing.
pls dont compare it with Gucci Pour Homme.. thats a masterpiece.
Can somebody tell me if this has been discontinued? (I fond it hard to believe, this being definitely one of the best fragrances to EVER come out of the house of Gucci), but I've been looking like crazy for it online, and the only site where I was able to find it, carries the 100ml bottle for 300 US$, with a tag that reads "Very Rare"!
Elegance, sophistication, sensual.......that is Envy to me. Found a new 3.4oz. for $30.00 at a local perfumeria, ohhh yeah.
All time classic !!! Shame it's out of production.
i really love this! this scent has everything. the vanilla is very warm, the patchouli is also strong and cosy! maybe to musky on myself since i don't wear scents for men, but smells sooo nice on my fiance, really seductive! don't wear to much!
This cologne took me awhile to come around to it. At first I thought it was just OK. Now I simply love this stuff. Its kind of musky, nutmeg like vanilla smell. Just bought a 1.7 oz. bottle off Ebay and I am going through it really quick. Great job Gucci. I think this might be your greatest cologne to date.
Also one of my all time favorites!
Its like a bad joke, that every single gucci scent of the new era is just so f*** boring...
ENVY is a totally outstanding fragrance. It's sex in a bottle. I agree it's heavy stuff but THATS THE FACT... not everyone can handle it.
So people please stop buying/testing it. Leave the rest for the lovers;)
you can buy this fragrance at perfumania stores in malls and outlets, i have seen it there as of august 2011 (was not a knock off)
This is my all time favorite. Such a pitty that it is not on the market anymore..
Which perfume is most comparable to this one? I really would love to have a fragnance that can replace this classic for me.
Thanks for your reactions!
I just bought one coz I was curius about!!but im really disaoppointed!! nothing special!v.v ordinary : lavender + cardamom !!! made in classic way !Thats all !!!! and honestly this fragrance remind me of haircut shops!!lol!(Sory to all who love this fragrance).
My advise: never buy something acording to reviews! Try it first!
elegant and sexy. a little mistery as well. awesome
My home was burgled. This cologne amongst all my others was taken, it was my best cologne!
It made me feel like a man! Good for nights out on the town.
The notes would blend smoothly together from top notes right to the base notes, a creamy sweet citrus peppery light tobacco aroma a true classic masterpiece in my eyes.
Compliments a plenty.
Sad, I cant find this anywhere anymore,
9.9/10
I was very curious about this fragrance because of the reviews of especialist sites and decided to get some samples before it vanishs from the sale's websites since it was discontinued. On my skin opens very spicy that reminds me the smell of shaving cream (like Prada Amber) and then increasingly appears the incense without losing the opening chord, the scent is very rich in notes, however, is very linear in me. The projection, longetivity and sillage are excellent, i guess by far surpasses his brother Gucci pour homme, a masterpiece that didn't conquered me because it gave me a "retro" feeling. Now I won't understand why the producer ceases to produce such a nice fragrance like Gucci Envy and produces so dull ones like Gucci by Gucci, Gucci by Gucci Sport and Gucci Guilty.
This is a special scent for me as it represents the beginning of my passion for perfumes. Before Envy For Men I used to approach fragrances as the final addition to the showering and grooming procedures and I used to own just one bottle at a time. This perfume made me realize for the first time, that a fragrance could be a good way to express your personality, to add an extra touch and last but not least...that perfumery can be an art. Don't get me wrong, Envy is an amazing fragrance but way too far from beeing considered as a piece of art or a masterpiece, expecially after more than a decade passed on smelling and discovering the huge world of perfumes.
Said that, this is one of the first masculine designer's fragrance to introduce ginger. An intense spicy oriental base jaxtaposed to a fresh opening and a soapy vibe throughout. Pleasant, honest and yet quite distinctive. Maybe not as brilliant as it was for me in 1998 but still among the best Designers fragrances of the last fifteen years and one of my fouvourite.
Rating: 7.5/10
After years of ripp-off scents following the succes of CK one (everyone seemed to have lost the plot scentwise and issued unisex or none-sex citrusy fragrances by the dozen, with the exception of Mugler Amen) under the helm of Tom Ford Gucci came and changed things with a strikingly simple but strong bottle and an even more striking, not simple but complex yet highly attractive fragrance. Composed somewhat along the lines of Amen but far more accessible, however with its very own and distinctive character. It exudes luxury and sensuality, pleasantly sweet yet maculine and very warm. Longevity is amazing and even longer lasting is the unique quality that never tires me and makes this one of my all-time favourites.
This is nice but my dad who smokes wears it. RUINED it for me. The best cologne smelled through the shroud of Kool cigarettes can make you gag. Just leaves a chalky feeling in the air…sigh
Complex and strong woody spicy scent.
It smells like flowers with sharp spices, wet woods, sweet vanilla, crispy nuts and dirty herbs.
I love it.
Some says it is similar to V&R Antidote, and I kinda agree, but there are still big differences.
Both are fantastic green complex scents
But Envy is more raw and masculine with sharp spices, such as pepper and ginger.
And Antidote is more flowery and powdery, with soft spices, such as cardamom and cinnamon.
Both are masterpieces.
I've been looking for this perfume this whole time, after having used it 2 years ago for a very long time. a favourite, but alas i fear, too, that it has been discontinued.
Is that true that Gucci Envy for men is discontinued???
I hope it's not true!!!
If they produce generic stuff like Gucci by Gucci and Gucci by Gucci Sport, they should never stop producing really good stuff like Envy!
It's sweet, musky, incensy, spicy, leathery, all at the same time, but not overpowering. It is definitely sexy and manly.
Wow. This is my style, I love oriental woods and spices.
Smoky, spicy, smooth.
Romantic, classic, proud.
I hope the discontinuance of this is a false rumor, 'cus that would just be a damn shame.
This is my first perfume from the house of Gucci and I bought it blindly.
For me, I would describe the smell as sweet, masculine and a touch of luxury in it. It isn't harsh nor overpowering. I tried spraying this more than I usually spray my perfumes and it didn't hurt my nose. Now that's the good news.
The bad news is, the projection for me is minimal. Haven't receive any praise or compliment yet with this one. Another is, it stays on my skin for at least 4 hours. I have to reapply it again during mid-day.
I would rate this one 7/10. Although the scent is unique, the projection and staying power for me brought it down. Everyone can wear this though.
Almost forgot, the weather in my country is tropical.
An intense oriental. Its sweet and floral in the middle with an incensy vanillary drydown. I cant detect the patchouli or leather on my skin.Maybe ginger mixed with corriander is giving off a manthol like aroma, but whatever it is, it works. This could easily be worn by a woman. The sweetness of vanilla, jasmine and rose makes it kind of unisex. A nice uplifting treat for when its cold and dark outside.
Wonderful frag. Great from start to finish. This one lasts forever on my skin (10-14 hrs). Sillage for me is above average and projects quite well. If it starts out too harsh for you, wait for the dry down by far the best part of the scent. Very masculine scent, is also a strong scent.
masterpiece very exotic and sensual and GREAT for ALL occasions
personally wore it on july 4th and a dozen people wanted to know what i was wearing and were about to buy it
good stuff!
I love this stuff. It has been and always will be money well spent. I wear it with a suit or a pair of shorts. If you haven't tried this yet hurry up and get it. Go easy because this can cause headaches.
Hi.
12 Years ago GUCCI offers a other product and today i want laud it with this CLASSY product. That's right ENVY is like most GUCCI scents ELEGANT and GREAT.Chic,Classic and very GUCCI!
I recommend it a few years ago for my father and he said:i fell in love with this smell.starts with typical Citrus for few minutes and not too strong but The Middle/Base notes are serious. The heart definitely with Jasmine and Rose makes it SEDUCTIVE and ATTRACTIVE.The base is Beautiful and Woody on my skin too.
It uplifts your Prestige in SPECIAL moments at COLD Evening like an Romantic Dinner.Certainly it is not for a Young man rather a MATURE man.Altogether for me ENVY is all about a Classic man a Demure man and if you are familar with GUCCI style then it is for you.
Sillage?Good.
Longevity?Average on my skin.
8/10
I got fresh yet spicy and green...very nice scent, all the time reminds me a female version of envy such the one I luvvv just more richer less floral and add more insence but still in the way I like. The problem is the feme one so popular and I don't want to smell like other, that's why I decide to have this and finished a 1.7oz of it.Sillage is detectable but the lasting emm..I have to reapply it every 3 hrs.
I bought this fragrance just the other day when I was out shopping for a cologne for my boyfriend. I had tested many male scents that day, however this one stood out amongst the rest.
To be completely honest, I think I liked this fragrance because I could see myself wearing it. It had this alluring, dark and spicy sweetness that captivated me almost immediately.
The sales assistant actually agreed with me that this fragrance could easily be unisex on the right woman. I believe that I am the woman that can succeed in wearing Envy.
Envy for Men opens with peppery orange, lavendar and rich mahogany. The top notes also have a slight menthol smell which is possibly brought to mind due to the intense green colour of the juice itself. The ginger is really lovely in this fragrance as in most cases ginger can make or break a scent.
In the heart the sweetness becomes more apparent with the carnation, jasmine and rose hinting that this fragrance is suitable for women as well.
The drydown is amazing. Vanilla, incense, patchouli, amber and tobacco creating a smokey and almost exotic scent. It is a delight to snuggle up to someone wearing this fragrance as it is both soothing and arousing.
I had every intention of giving this fragrance to my boyfriend for his birthday, however now I seem to be changing my mind. I am almost decided on keeping this fragrance for myself and finding him something else to wear or suggesting to him that we could possibly share.
Loved it from the start and still this is my favourite scent, after a decade safe to say it's a classic. It never bores and doesn't go out of style. Endless positive reactions (apart from one friend who claimed it gave him a headache).
Am I wrong for buying another bottle?? I love this! 100 ml for $20?? With a 50 ml going for $60, it felt right. Nice to know you can use the heck out of something as great as this, and have a back up. Envy me for having 2. "Joking."
;-)
I've got a 1.7 ml sample of this fragrance When I bought a new bottle of azzaro chrome legend
And serious. I felt sad
Why i didn't discovered it before!!
it's since 1998
I returned to the shop after 5 minutes
And purchased it immediately
and now it is one of the best fragrance that I own
It is a blend between the sober and stylish man
The young sporty rich businessman melted with a Legendary monk from the Far East
it's really amazing, and also my fiancee like it too much
Apply with caution. Depending on how you use this, it can be pleasant and tolerable or harshly overpowering. You want people to Envy you, not keep their distance. Some fragrances are built to over apply, however this is not one of them. Mature? Yes. I'm 24, but I'm an old soul... so I consider this suitable for myself.
i used to love envy back in college but women never felt the same about it except my mom. they always said i'm too young for the scent & it's strong scent is over powering & too musky-ambery. they said it gave them a headache. that's why i never used it anymore after finishing the bottle. so it's not a scent for teens & guys at their 20's.
envy is for the more elder crowd.
Gucci Envy is an ordinary boring fragrance for me. Initially i liked it but soon i relised that it is not for my age group ( i am in mid 20's). it is for retired age group. It is an oriental/spicy fragrance with nothing particular. Opens with bright spicy notes and dries down to somooth powdery vanilla fragrance. No so bad at all. but its not for me. I must say that it is a perfume that is over rated worldwide.
It has got below average sillage and longevity.
I give it 5 out of 10.
my wife told me once that envy conjured images of temples in the far east and I was a deity surrounded by a misty fog of incense...Buenas noches/Goodnight.
a total masterpiece i love the spicy fresh richness of this scent and gucci does a great job putting in LOTS of great notes and very nice scents without havin to sweeten them up
probably gonno be my next buy
i was 15 when tried this one for the first time, and although i might be too young to appreciate complex scent( at that time my impression for this frag was a pepper perfume )it's love at first sniff!!
since then i've sampled it many many times and grow to love it more and more but I never purchase it because i think i don't match this perfume. it's strong, intense, dark, very warm, very masculine, while i'm a petite asian who looks like a young girl. well, maybe i'll get it for my husband in the future : )
I love this one, it's my all time favorite. It's the kind of scent you turn your head after...
a nice colder weather kinda scent. has a distinct insence thing working in it
My first Gucci cologne , Loved it very much and happy with my purchase . my boss ask me what i was wearing and this definitely turned a few heads of opposite sex. ^_^ Buy it u wont regret it.
Very nice, it only had one person saying this could be used on hot days, but I think it can be as it isn't extremely hot or spicy. I think it's warm yes, but has a certain freshness to it. Actually it can be used in almost any situation in my opinion. I get a feel of modern and vintage combined.
I was never blown away by it, I slowly used up a 100ml bottle over about 3 years and thought it was ok, kinda nice. But now I've used it all I find myself missing it
This is one of the most delicious fragances ever. It´s in my top 5 list. I used it many times!.
A younger version of Must pour Homme Essence- Cartier. The difference consists of the ginger-clove accents and of some green notes. Very well done.
First thoughts when i smell it are: man in black suit(looks like 80's), day of holiday with a wealthy man:), and Twin Peaks:))). Seem to be suitable for man in middle age but definately younger than Gucci Pour Homme is. Very long lasting, not fresh, bitter in the end-sweet in the beggining, for decided and selfconfident man. Full of contradictions for me. I think green colour of water is good for it, becouse if I was an artis making commercial, my man model would coming out of green deep wood;). Good for almost every ocassion - office, date, evening, maybe not for sport.
Fragrance is very interesting. A little citrusy, then a lot of spices, with ginger as primary note. In base leather, inscene. Warm, sweet, long lasting, but close to skin.
Gucci Pour Homme is created in the admiration of the classic perfumes of 70's and like most of the old fragrances it is an intense fragrance containing spices, woods and leather that can be loved and hate at the same time by different people. It might suit the romantic / sensual wear but it is more mature than Gucci Envy which is an elegant fragrance, moderate and good for all ages in comparison with Pour Homme. Noses can entirely different than one another but in general opinion Envy can be more sensual for a female who feels it!!
my dear frend i have my colection about 30 and more perfumes u ask me about envy and i told u its more dark and elegant no sexy so dior pour home its for special times if u want sexy perfume take carolina herera 212 sexy man its the most sexy perfume in my colection last 2 longgggggggggg and its very sexy.im litle expert whit perfumes my englise its not good , the creator of GUCCI BY GUCCI WOMAN MR EMRNIDIS the noise its my frend and so i have a litke expiriance whit good perfumes
One of my all-time favorites. Elegant and masculine, like the bottle and the deep hypnotic green of the fluid. Sweet and sexy and never ever cloying or overpowering. Stays fairly close to the skin, but I like to be smelled by the nose that gets close, not by the entire office as I walk in the door. Very much a date scent. Citrus haters need not fear -the lone note of orange is invisible to my nose. I only smell a well-crafted blend of spices kept in check by a few sweet notes. Gucci is class!
i love this fragrance on men!!! clean, attractive , seducing fragrance...A MUST TRY for all those confident men!
Wow! This is really a classic. I've have received so many favorable comments - and it lingers a long time. I'll be using this one for some time as my regular.
The best of Gucci. High class, luxerious. dark, deep, daring and attractive. It's unique. So it's not for everyone.
One of my favorites for men. Attractive, elegant, simply masculine, sensual, bright... i like it so much :) To a singular, good-humored and confident man (in my opinion)
Surely is a perfume that "I must to buy!!!" for my man :D
Wonderful! It starts with Peppery Spices and Orange, enhanced with Cardamom. The Citrus does not play a key role in the opening, it is a supporting note only.
When the heart starts to emerge within 5 minutes, a Jasmine and Carnation floral accord join in with Sandalwood and Nutmeg. In the background of the heart is a sharp, but not too sharp, Anise note. The Anise meets with the Amber in the base, adding to the sharp but sweet-ish note. This sweet-tart accord is strong but mostly stays in the background and mixes well in the spicy floral.
The dry down has a slowly mellowing Anise-Amber accord joined with Patchouli, Vanilla, and Incense. The Tobacco note in the base is very well mixed in, and just barely noticeable to me.
The real beauty of this one, to me, is the sillage during the dry down. It's smooth and warm but slightly spicy and sharp at the same time. It's classy but not too classy to wear casual. Dressed-up casual.. not blue jeans casual.
Longevity is average, sillage is average. If over-applied, the Anise-Amber may get too strong during the dry down, so it's best to go easy on it to keep it smooth.
