Very strong Chepre perfume , its very hardly to notice any flowers there, very boring and common , if i would ware Chypre perfume i will use - other good one like soir de lune , paloma picaso , silences, private collection EL- all of them have more personality
and intersting feeling

I would love to do this fragrance some justice, as I am stupefied by its wiles.

There was a small subset of mid-eighties to early nineties rose chypres, which were very dark, very animalic, very complicated, and all about sensuality. Some notable fragrances in this tiny genre are L'Insolent, La Nuit, Parure, Knowing, Jil Sander 4, Parfum de Peau, Diva, and Mackie. These comprise my all-time favorite women's scents, and I mourn their gradual disappearance all the time (Where's the LOVE?). New offerings along these lines, e.g. Soir de Lune and Oliban.. just don't do it for me!

Anyway, the queen of the lot is clearly L'Arte. It's the smokiest, most heady, most passionate one. And it also the most elegant.

It has all the sex-appeal and swagger of La Nuit,
all the elegance and majesty of Diva,
the quirky little cigarettes and chutzpah quality of L'Insolent,
and the seamless blending and savoir faire of JS 4.

Yup, it's got it all.

It also has a drydown so deep, sharp and satisfying, it causes me to fill my lungs instinctively each time I smell myself. And to breathe out very slowly, so as not to let it exit my nose too quickly.

Clearly, I treasure this one. And sadly I must; it is getting nigh impossible to get! But that I could slather myself day in and day out!

I recommend this black, sylphine, and intemperate beauty to fans of any of the above-mentioned fragrances. You may be knocked out.

My Holy Grail...was lucky to snap both edt and edp when the prices were not that sky-high... Actually it is almost 1:1 with Sisley's Soir de Lune, but less peppery and spicey. It's dark and warm, elegant and definitely not for young girls. A woman needs to have some background to be able to wear it...and then it will become like a second soul and skin;)

I wore it, when I was in 9th grade. I had a black one. I loved it. It's very solid and warm. Very sexy chypre.
EDp at first is soft greenish light, then comes flowery base entangled with musky, leather and woody base. Definitely for mature woman, because makes everyone wonder. Quite old-fashioned feel. I thought it was oriental perfume at time. Very good, much better than Gucci edp

Yes, L'Arte de Gucci is strong, opulent and even loud. I don't know why, but on me this smell rich, honeydipped rose with something else what I cannot identify. But lot's of honeylike sweetnes.

This is a scent that Alexis from 80- Dynasty tv-series woud wear, luxuriant, bold and very femme fatale.

I had a brief experience with this years ago and at that time, I remembered it was priced on the higher price range which of course is nothing compared to those super expensive perfumes that had emerged nowadays.

For the scent, I recalled it is rather strong, oppulent and loud with a tinge of metal nuance.

Would need to revisit as I still have a sample vial somewhere in my collection of minatures and vials....
