Halston presents a new fragrant pair Halston Woman and Halston Man, which will be launched under license of the house of Elizabeth Arden. Carlos Benaim of IFF was chosen to interpret and improve compositions of two classics: Halston for Women from 1975 and Haston Z-14 for men. It is interesting that back in 1975 Carlos Benaim used to work as junior perfumer with Bernard Chant on creation of the first fragrance. Its update was made as a modern reverse of original ingredients with structure adapted to the new concept.
Benaim said himself: "I followed the basic idea, but added ingredients that were not available when the first scents were launched."
Halston Man is composed of citruses, Artemisia, passionfruit, lavender, mint, cardamom, patchouli, labdanum and musk. The perfume arrives as 75 and 125 ml EDT.
Flacons were created as platinum versions of the original editions. Designer is Elsa Peretti. Halston Man was launched in 2009.

I really wanted to like this, but it just wasn't as satisfying as Halston Man Amber. Perhaps this is a biased opinion considering I don't do subtle. I found it to be quite mellow before my adventure into the base of the fragrance. Love the bottle, but I feel Amber has the edge.
Most underated colonge in the game everyone should be hip to this.Crazy fresh and unique woodsy scent.Yes HALSTON MAN get familiar!
WOW! Let me start off by saying, I don't really like Z-14 since we have left the 80's. It is that artificial cinnamyl note that puts me off. Just WAYYYY too strong for me. I have just sniffed this for the first time, so this is a first impression...different..UNIQUE. I don't really ever remember smelling passionfruit, but I'm guessing I can pick that aroma out now. There is a sharp fruitiness to this mixed with citrus in the top. The lavender. artemisia, cardamom, and mint are all discernable. I'm not sure I would ever consider wearing this on a regular basis, but this fragrance is intriguing to me. It has that same cinnamyl sharpness, but with semi natural notes. Very interesting. Truly a "modern" version, but still with that vintage structure. Worth a sniff. The Amber on the other hand is bottle worthy.
This is such a great scent, I really wish the ORIGINAL was available instead. Anybody who's read my reviews will already know how I feel about the Arden company, and will probably be thinking "Dude just shut up" lol but today, I found two fantastic scents at only to find out they're in the Arden production line, so I don't trust them. Not happy.
So about the scent; initial spray has a very subtle citrus dominance but accompanied but masses of musk. Now the patchouli and labdinum have become very obvious and playful. Is that passionfruit? I can't quite smell it, but either that, the mint or the lavender are giving are very soft side to the heart that the fragrance probably wouldn't do without.
This scent is romantic, casual, a definite autumn/winter smell.
Oh and to all having trouble, David Jones in Sydney is where I found this smell.
I have wanted this ever since I read the notes when it was released last year but could not find it anywhere. It is available on the EA website in an EDT concentration in the 125 ml size only for 75.00 USD...and well worth it!
A doctor friend of mine's wife got it for him and it's like they took the original 80s releases and turned them inside out and added a sweet freshness to them without affecting the overall masculinity. The initial spray is dreamy as the passionfruit/citrus is tempered with the dry green tarragon. The overall aura is manly but restrained, the lavender and mint, so common in men's frags is augmented by the aquatic spiciness of the cardamom (it smells so much different than it tastes; the cardamom-not the cologne!)The base is rich with labdanum and patchouli and the musk is very clean. All in all this is a fitting modern remake of the very manly man originals. The platinum coloured bottle is just beautiful...
Sillage: good
Longevity: splendid
Overall: 4.5/5
If Halston (RIP?) had made more scents like this he might still be a more respected name in the Industry as opposed to a mass-market staple at the discount stores. This is the first men's scent EA has released since the classic Arden Men Sandalwood in 1959, and it's worth searching out!
