Very, very voluptuous ... suitable for a free-spirited woman (as George Sand).
It develops great fruity notes (peach and I feel more nutmeg) overlapped vanilla (excellent) and benzoin and all they give you the feeling of joy.
Free Spirit, this has to feel and enjoy sniffing in 1804.
Je suis l'heureuse propriétaire d'un flacon 100ml et je l'adore !!! Je reçois beaucoup de compliment quand je le porte...
Histoires de Parfums 1804, smells the way Chanel's Chance should have smelt. In my opinion, this fragrance is an extension of Chanel's popular perfume. It's more rounded and evidently much sweeter.
1804 opens with a juicy and sour pineapple accord, with an added hint of peach, making this fragrance's opening both fruity and tropical. An earthy and spicy heart is quick to steer 1804 away from fruity floral territory, showing some similarities to Chanel Chance's dominant patchouli heart.
Chance has a tendency to become dry and peppery over time, however 1804 develops further into a deep, creamy and spicy blend. Vanilla aids in providing a sensual drydown. The patchouli also becomes much stronger, almost smelling chocolatey on my skin.
I'm not usually a fan of pineapple in perfume, however Histoires de Parfums has used the note skilfully in this composition. To my nose, 1804 is a rich blend of fruits, spices, vanilla and earthy patchouli. There are many floral notes listed in the scent pyramid, however I wasn't able to smell them.
I think anyone that adores Chanel Chance, Thierry Mugler's Angel, Miss Dior Cherie or Guess Gold, will more than likely enjoy 1804. It's a fragrance of outstanding quality, lasting an entire day on the skin. I recommend.
Now that is pure pulp of the fruit. I'm up to the flavor of pineapple, OMG this is very good. A fruity acid prominence with pineapple dominated everything. Fantastic it is unique and does not resemble anything on the market until the present day.
I rank it well:
Smell: 9.5/10
Projection: 9.5/10
Longevity: 9/10
This is a nice powdery pineapple, very comforting. I like it but I don't love it. I probably would not buy a full bottle, but it's not bad.
1804 is a tropical fantasy of a perfume. Speaking for my people, pasty white folks, tropical is something we can refer to but can never really pull off. We just weren't meant to. And though I shout to the heavens that taste is arbitrary, nuance can be the difference between a sunburnt, drunken conga line listing to "Don't Worry, Be Happy" and a quiet hand-in-hand evening walk in the sand.
Imagine one of the huge white floral perfumes on tropical vacation: Joy sunbathing in Moorea or Amouage Gold diving in Tahiti. Keep the volume and the sillage, but dial back the uptight. 1804 is a spicy floriental in the grand manner. The allusion may be to tropical scents, but this bad girl is a classic French perfume in her bones. As such, 1804 has exceptional form, but since the implied tone of lushness and leisure takes precedence over structure, form gives way to expression. Form as seen in a 'classical' white floral fragrance seems like artifice. Intent and composition are fused in 1804 and it achieves that balletic ambition of surpassing technique and simply moving.
1804 is a spectacular application of classical technique and should put the corner-cutting school of perfumery on notice.
Swoon-worthy.
Exquisite. Reminds me of a scent that hawaiian royalty would wear. I smell pineapple and something a little salty too. Maybe peanuty? I know that sounds wierd, but i smell something nutty and not nutmeg cause its not spicelike, it smells a little nutty. Thats the beginning, after a couple of minutes i smell rose and powdery but slightly sweet like there is a touch of citrus. ITs very good. I love it. It changes and changes
1804 is a great perfume to wear throughout the day if you have the time to appreciate each layer. It's a fragrance with very pronounced top, middle and base notes. Initially, there is a blast of zesty pineapple and dry roses that will leave your nose tingling. It then moves into a bouquet of sweet, almost sugary flowers that gradually develops a strange bonfire-like warmth. Finally, sandalwood and other soft woody notes reveal themselves while still retaining wisps of its former self that float by like ribbons.
I absolutely love this scent!
BEAUTIFUL ELEGANT FRAGRANCE WITH VERY LONG LASTING SILLAGE!
I love pineapple, and I have wanted a pineapple perfume for a long time. Sadly this one doesn't develop on my skin. It remains a syrupy sweet pineapple out of a can for a very long time. I can tell there are spices wanting to come out, but they are smothered by the pineapple syrup and don't stand a chance. This had the potential to be so perfect....
Edit: If anyone cares how this smells on others, I have to add that I put this on my mother, and it smelled AMAZING!! It was a spiced pineapple, almost like Angel with the pineapple note far more prominent than all the other notes. I am so jealous my mom can wear it, but at least I get to smell it when she's around. I think this is her new signature.
Very sweet perfume. Reminds me of Chopard Wish. The same vibe.
Have been thinking for a while about buying this for myself. I've had the tester and it's just a great spring fragrance.
Only, since I'm no female, it might be a bit awkward.
What do you think ladies?
The beginning smelled like pineapples that have been sitting out in the sun too long. But this is coming from someone who hates overt fruity smells in perfume. Luckily it did turn into a SPICY pineapple and some vanilla which is more my style with the spice, but still a little too fruity for my tastes. Smelled more like a body splash than a perfume. I had to mix it with something else.
Very sweet pineapple, as if it were preserved in syrup. Would be nice to occasionally sniff but too strong to be smelling like all day.
This is just lovely; however, it was love at second sight for me.
The first few minutes were a bit too much, too strong, I thought it almost stuffy, but it quickly settled into a very warm, sweet and aromatic smell.
Overall, it's a rather sweet perfume, but it's not "candy-sweet"; I would call it an aromatic sweetness with some fresh and elegant notes surrounding it.
The base of vanilla and sandalwood lasts very, very long; it's even still there in the morning when I leave it on overnight.
Histoires de Parfums 1804 has a decidedly Lolita Lempicka-esque demeanor. And that's a very good thing, according to my nose: voluptuous and sumptuous, a thick comfort scent of the woody floriental variety with an ever-so-slightly masculine edge that makes it wearable by guys and gals alike. Although this composition does not contain the trademark Lolita Lempicka licorice note, there is enough overlap of everything else to impart the same general aesthetic to this perfume. One of the nicest features of the perfumes of Lolita Lempicka is their declarative nature: they are not afraid to seduce, and neither is 1804. Wearing this perfume is a full-fledged experience in and of itself, not merely an accompaniment to whatever one happens to be doing. Sandalwood, patchouli, benzoin, and vanilla combine to anchor the rich floral notes spiced with a touch of nutmeg. I like it a lot!
fragranza meravigliosamente morbida e femminile.
A warm floral oriental in the grand, classic style. It is very fruity in the begining (not suitable for people who hate pineapple) and develops into a very strong, remarkably spicy-fruity concoction. Very characteristic, discernible - no easy crowd pleaser. High quality, indeed, elaborated by Sylvie Jourdet who teaches at the ISIPCA in Versailles and who seems to be a professeur "connaisseur", judging by this powerful fragrance.
Don't confound it with George Sand by Les Parfums Historiques i.e. MPeG - it is totally different.
Wow, KTerhark, your review is spot on! I tried the sample and I did get haven't gotten to stinky flamethrowers (sigh of relief) and gardenia, but I did get a fresh pineapple with a slight hint of warm plastic afterwards. Then it all sort of mingled into an anonymous base -- or I stopped paying attention. I'll try again and update the review.
"m giving this an initial sniff becaue I just got back from Maui 12 hours ago, so fresh pineapple and tahitian gardenias are still hanging on my skin and clothes. While this does not transport me back to the islands it does bring up some good memories:
Heated plastic. Every day I smushed my face into a snorkling mask after a long drive in the car. That initial whiff of warm plastic is captured nicely here.
Pineapple wedgies. Opening blast smells just like the garnishment on my mai tai last night.
Stinky flamethrowers. One night we went to a Luau that ended with a guy who danced with fire sticks. Afterwards I had my picture taken while standing next to him; where I got a good whiff of his sweaty back. This is one memory I could do wihtout, actually.
Gardenia/tiara: You have to make an effort not to step on these there, they are so plentiful. Here the note is not as pure as it is on the islands. Nevertheless, it is sure to rekindle your desire to strap on a coconut bra and to shake those hips.
A fun, light and breezy fragrance. do I agree that it is 4 star? Not after sampling Galimard's pineapple fragrances. But a noteworthy option, certainly.
The initial blast is very Floral...
Rose water and Lily of the Valley and fruity a coupling of Peach and something else...
Little did I know it was Pineapple!!!
Very much a Vanilla /Wood Mix ...as it settles on my skin...which is definitely
my favorite Base ...
First out of the vial, this one made me cringe. A blast of vanilla, fruit and sandalwood, a combination that I hate as much as it hates me--we do NOT get along--blasted off my skin in harsh, sharp waves. Luckily it faded very quickly into a creamy, softer version, heavy on the vanilla. Dry down kept getting better and better, ending up in a soft, rich vanilla/wood mix with just a touch of citrus and one flower hiding somewhere behind. Lovely, creamy and soft, but not sure how it relates to George Sand, who it is supposed to represent. Still, very very nice after that initial blast of awful. Recommended for sampling.
This is a delicious oriental, with a rich and creamy gourmand character that is simply gorgous. 1804, also known as George Sand, starts off with a sparkling top of peach and pineapple. They add a slightly fizzy, tickle your nose quality. The heart is a spicy floral, heavier on the spice than floral, with clove and other spices adding warmth and softness to the mix. The dry down and base are creamy woods with vanilla and a hint of patchouli. Rich, complex and sensual, this ia a marvelous sweet oriental that leans toward the gourmand. Just terrific!
