Ambre d Or belongs to the OSMO collection of fragrances, glamorous and enchanting. Sweet and endlessly attractive, it reminds of the legendary oriental palaces scents. It includes aromas of honey, noble wood, resin, spices and aphrodisiac accords of date blossom and opium that surrounds the composition. Created as a magical and seductive perfume, it impresses the one who wears it and those around him/her. The fragrance is available as 50 and 100 ml EDP, and 50 ml pure perfume extract. Ambre d Or was launched in 2004. The nose behind this fragrance is Silvana Casoli.
Ambre d'Or starts out very sweet and a little bit dusty, like candied fruit with a touch of Arabian spice. It's no doubt a gourmand at first sight and the top and heart notes are delicious and alluring, if a bit too saccharine for some people's tastes.
The surprise I got, however, was in the drydown, where the perfume shed half its sweetness and a beautiful oriental, resinous, creamy dream revealed itself on my skin. Reminded me of Must de Cartier and Imperial Opoponax, with its vintage air, sensual smooth texture and rich warmth.
It smells like a far-out place, both in time and in space.
Very beautiful.
Lasting power is good (8-10 hours), sillage is medium.
The first brief moments are beautiful, feather-like and delicate somehow, but as the fragrance warms up on the skin, it soon becomes quite sweet, almost edible and powerful and yes - I agree - flowery too. There is a bit of sharp, powdery "cleanliness" developing there gradually and I am not sure just yet whether it will remain enjoyable (I like powder and I like clean) or whether it will turn into "irritating kind of clean" in large doses and/or over the time (I fear that this fragrance has the potential of being somewhere on the border between tantalizing and irritating).
Saying that...I do enjoy it so far, but I have only used a tiny amount from the sample...I would say that this could be good in a really cold weather. Will have to try that! By the way "glamorous" is a good description, Fragrantica.
Update: I did sleep with this aroma whiffing from my wrists and my neck and falling asleep, I was thinking - "I must remember to mention that this is beautiful". So here goes - in small doses it does not turn irritating, instead it remains tantalizing all the way! :-)
warm, creamy, gourmand, sweet, a bit flowery - pure honey :)
I've checked Ambre d'Or on skin, and it smelled like an egg with a bit of alcohol, sth like eiercognac,it certainly doesn't work on me :(
