Balmy Days & Sundays is a perfume about perfect moments on a relaxing Sunday; lying in the grass, breathing the smells of sweet scented flowers and fragrant leaves.
Balmy Days & Sundays is about lying face-up to the sky, dappled light flickering
through the pale green
of overhead branches.
Green freshness of leaves, grass and white freesia opens the composition and leads into the sweet floral heart, which is blended of honeysuckle, rose and mimosa. A pleasant chypre accord and musk are in the base.
Balmy Days & Sundays was launched in 2006. The nose behind this fragrance is Ineke Ruhland.

This reminds me very much of a perfume I own, Mimosa by Christiane Celle, which was my signature scent for a couple of years. I prefer Christiane Celle's perfume because it's a tad sweeter. Balmy Days smells very strongly of mimosa with just a touch of honeysuckle. The fresh & vibrant green-ness is prominent. It reminds me of a beautiful green lawn in the morning, covered in dew.
Ineke categorizes this as a "green floral," so I'm not sure why it's a chypre floral here. It definitely smells like a green floral and qualifies as one of the best I've smelled in a long time.
The opening of Ineke BALMY DAYS & SUNDAYS reminds me of the opening of Moschino CHEAP & CHIC. From there, however, the composition turns into a somewhat synthetic-smelling green, green, green perfume. My cat hated this one, so it fell immediately from contention. I guess that I do in fact agree with him that it seems a bit too chemically to qualify as a green that I'd reach for. Green and synthetic are natural enemies, n'est-ce pas?
In the interest of fair reviewing, I should make clear that I number among those who eschew all Irish Spring green colognes (chez Creed et al.). If you like them, then you might like this one as well.
Really like this one!
On me: goes on juicy green -- but doesn't remind me of grass so much as mulched flowers and stems.
Then it's a perfectly lovely floral. I wish I knew which particular flower it is I'm smelling. Freesia, mimosa and honeysuckle exist where I live, but just aren't common enough garden flowers for me to recognize. I'm familiar with rose (and I'm not a big fan of the flower's scent), but cannot detect it here.
Can easily be worn to the office. On my wish list!
I love this scent! It is soft and light but lasts a long time. On me, there is no sharpness and very little green. I get the dewy sense and the warm florals. It is just slightly sweet. For me, it is hard to pick out specific notes. It just blends together into a unique, very nice and wearable scent.
Revising my review for this.
Balmy Days & Sundays is, as advertised, a "balmy" green fragrance. I get grassy green notes, a bit of honeysuckle (which adds to the "balmy" character), and a big rose note. I must say that the rose kinda spoils it for me, just because I really don't think it blends well with the other notes, but it's a nice idea. I guess this works as unisex, but it's really nothing I'd wear. It's not so much a masculine or feminine as it is a conceptual niche fragrances, which most niche's usually are. Balmy Days & Sundays lasts about 5 to 6 hours on me.
Not bad, but nothing I'd wear.
I have immersed myself in this perfume for the last two hours and I feel a sense of summery bliss. The scent is so natural but yet very distinct. The opening is slightly sweet but nothing sugary. The greenness is beautifully surrounded by the raspberries and the mimosa. It is like the best smelling milled soap I have ever encountered and it keeps lingering on. This is like a beautiful poem.
It makes me think of a sunny afternoon, not too hot but appropriately warm for sunbathing. Green and refreshing. It's very suitable for a day out in spring and summer, and I think men can also try this on.
The impression of lying in the grass is unmistakable! I get sweetness in the air and mimosa, but I must be keeping a freshly torn blade of grass in my hand!
Initially it's sweeter, then it gets green and stays for good 5+ hours.
I am intrigued by green perfumes, so I couldn't wait to try it and I like it. I would say it's floral green, not quite comes out as a chypre on me. I think chypres would be stronger.
Very nice for daytime in Spring or Summer.
Refreshing and bright. This opens green and stays green but the florals are what catch your attention. You can pick out the mimosa and honeysuckle. On me there's an herbal note that I can't name. Great juice for a day when you need some energy or want to feel like you're in sunshine.
If Ineke's 'Evening Edged in Gold' deserves a night out, 'Balmy Days & Sundays' would serve perfectly for the morning after (e.g.bagels and coffee in bed, read the paper lying in the grass at the park). I like the name a lot -- so much so that I couldn't wait until Sunday to try it. 'BDAS' is a subdued, fresh floral with lots and lots of grassiness. This isn't a sharp grassiness, but almost spearminty without an overload of camphorousness that you can sometimes get with mints. Is there lily-of-the valley here? Smells like it! 'BDAS' is labeled here as a 'chypre floral' but truly, it doesn't come off as a chypre so all you chyprephobics -fear not! This is a tiny well-tended garden in a huge field of grass; the flowers always playing second fiddle to the grass. Clean and warm and comforting. I don't like it *quite* as much, nor does it last as long on the skin as 'EEIG', but still think it's worthy of a full bottle -- should my ship finally come in.
