Issey Miyake uses very unusual and rare materials in order to create perfumes that evoke the sense of timeless freedom and serenity. L'Eau d'Issey Pour Homme was created as a universal Eau de Toilette perfect for any occasion.
L'Eau d'Issey for Men is a woody aquatic fragrance with yuzu as in top notes, along with notes of bergamot, lemon and tarragon. A middle note is spicy and woody: nutmeg and water lily are an exciting and unexpected accord in this composition. An end note carries an intense woody scent which is sharp and enriched with tobacco, sandalwood, cedar, vetiver and musk. It was created by Jacques Cavallier in 1994.
Two editions in new flacons but with the same compositions were introduced in 2009 - L'Eau d'Issey Pour Homme and L'Eau d'Issey Pour Homme Intense. Colours of the flacons - light grey and dark grey colour of asphalt make an impression of a union of water and concrete.

ppl say this scent is unisex........no way ....absolutely no way .
thats all i have to say "NO WAY"
Does anyone else think this smells like Vicks VapoRub? For atleast the first two hours that's exactly what it smells like to me. After the sharpness of that wears off, it is much more pleasant. It retains the same type of Vicks smell, but a lot less harsh. I get a pleasant mint after the harsh two hour opening. I've worn this a couple of times because I tried to like it but it makes me self-conscious for the first two hours. I feel like someone is going to ask me if I have a cold because I smell like Vicks. I have a slightly older brother who likes this one a lot. Sorry, bro. To each his own. Not for me.
Still not understanding why anyone thinks this smells "floral". I find it a little disturbing, actually. What are you talking about? Are you smelling the right fragrance? There may be a very small amount of floral character to this, but it's predominately a spicy/citrus/woody/amber scent. Perhaps I'll write a full review of this amazing fragrance once these ridiculously far off ones finally piss me off enough to do so.
Not a fan, I thought i'd love it for the relaxing tea note yet i find it overly floral especially in the opening. it was so floral it gave me headaches, too feminine.
To me it just smells like a manlier, less good version of Acqua Di Gio. Not really one of my favorites. Still good though. I wouldn't buy it.
One of the vetiver fragrances I don't loathe. I dislike too much vetiver, but this is just perfect. It smells great overall. Shame that it contains quite a bit of nutmeg, that gets a bit on my nerves...so this time no dislike for this from me. I warn you, check it out first though. There is a 60/40 chance you will not like it. Hell, I might even end up liking it! You never know.
Update: I think it might be the yuzu, along with the vetiver (though not exactly the latter). It makes it a bit too sour and wierd smelling. Defo not my kind of perfume.
This is an incredible scent women love it you can wear this scent year round but its best in the summer its like the heat activates a whole new smell it gets plenty of compliments my girl loves it this stuff never gets old or played out if you haven't tried it then you need to few sprays is all you need couple to the neck and a couple to the chest lasts all day
Opening is way too strong in citrus for me. Dry down is fantastic after about 20 minutes and lasts a good 10 to 14 hours on my skin. Dry down is also smooth for me. One of those fragrances where I have to keep smelling my wrists to catch another whiff.
Be careful, I lost 1/3 of a bottle because it leaked out the top while the bottle was sideways in my gym bag! Any fragrance in this price category should come with a mini or atomizer to keep on you rather than having to lug around the entire bottle to freshen up later in the day.
Bottle seems easily breakable as well. Doesn't help the bottle is so tall and thin. The slightest bump knocks it over.
8.5/10 for me. Would be a 9.5, but the bottle design is just terrible.
Its like pouring a jug of chilled lemonade on your head on a sweltering Indian summer day. Purely an outdoor fragrance. A very sharp and sometimes clawing opening, but dries down well. Moderate longevity and projection on my skin.. or is it the hot Indian summer that's taking the toll.
Big up to all the positive comments on my signature scent, if only I could drink this juice man! The liquid agrees with me period!
I was addicted since the first sniff and I just can't get enough of it,.,., worth every penny to me I'd say.
I still really like this. Smells good on Most women & Some men... Strange but true.
Much nicer than the womens version (which is often the case in my experience).
This is a classic, but it's played out. It's a great scent, it's fruity, fresh, citrusy, salty. Great for the summer, and a compliment getter with out a doubt. Try it.
For some reason, when I smell this fragrance, that new Dr. Pepper Ten commercial comes to mind. You know, the one with the tough guy mountain man picking up red wood trees underneath his arm. Leau D'issey smells like the wild wilderness to me. I've never smelled a fragrance before that was masculine and woody green, but at the same time the aquatic flirtations are of equal caliber.
Yes, this fragrance has a strong floral up front, but these are not girly florals. We're talking about wild flowers steeped in a forrest covered mountian side, and somewhere in the middle of it all, there's an unruley stream of rapids leading down hill.
I find nothing unisex about this fragrance as some may let on. Although smooth and ultra clean, I only find L'eau D'Issey feminine in a Racheal Maddow sort of way. There's just too much spice and woods here.
Imagine a lumberjack working in the forrest all day. Before he calls it a day, he bathes under a small waterfall pretruding from a large stone cliff against a mountian side. He drys off, puts on a clean pair of jeans, a red and black flannel shirt, and heads back down the mountian side heading to the cabin. All the while, brushing through evergreens and wild flowers until the woods clears and only a dirt path through a small low level vally leads him to his cabin front door. L'eau D'Issey is PBS Wild Kingdom for me, and it's never been so good.
I really tried hard to like this, particulalry with all of the favorable reviews. But the opening smells too much like Lemon Pledge furniture polish. The dry down is only slightly better - you can also smell a bit of the wood you just polished.
this is a good unisex fragrance. i like it, however, i feel there's a smell in it that makes it also smell like room or linen spray, considering i got it so cheap, i may find myself spraying my couch with it more often than wearing it.
@2746cstreet: Thanks for pointing out the mignonette note. I now believe it might be the odd note that I didn't like about this scent at some point. This might sound weird, but it smelled sort of "garlic-ish" to my nose. Hmmm... Fortunately, I can't smell it anymore, but I sure hope others won't, either. LOL!
Citrusy, watery. I smell yuzu, verbena, lotus, mignonette and tarragon.
Starts out quite sharp and soapy and then becomes more herbal as it dries down. Mignonette is not prominent but it leaves an undertone of rotting fruit.
Well, again a blind buy :-)
I read so much about it that I decided to order it. Got it yesterday and ± 16.00 I sprayed a little on my wrist. It's now almost a day later and, yes I have washed myself, I can still smell it. I'm wearing Musc Ravageur but sometimes the IM just comes floating through :-)
So the longevity is, at least for me, very long. the projection very good and the smell.... I like it. Plain and simple as that. Glad I bought it.
Another one that doesn't work on me. My step dad wears it, and it smells great on him. My skin only gets a bad citrus note and the white florals.
Used to be my signature scent and I'm a lady. I can't really say that I enjoyed wearing it except that it got me the attention. Friends ask. Male colleagues and strangers on the bus seem to lean a little too close when I'm doused in it, (and no, I wasn't the one to realize it at first). Sounds specious but I guess men are such narcissuses when it comes to the scent of attraction. They definitely dig it when they spot a scent they wouldn't mind wearing themselves, on a woman. It gave me headaches the first week I'm on it, and I do still get them once in a while. On hot days, I smell like like a bottle of cheap ozonic-lemon-metalic car freshener, almost aldehyde-ish. A very unpleasant industrial dankness void of character. On days where I choose to stay indoor/air-conditioned, the scent blossoms beautifully- it smells just like a lush leather couch, freshly cleaned with some lemon-cedar conditioner. Ahh..comfortably divine.
I'm in love with that one !
For me Eau d'Issey smells like tea, it brings back memories from my childhood. Green iced tea, with flowers floating on it.
I'd describe it as mainly floral / aquatic. To my nose, citruses and woods are not playing the main role. The flowers are.
When I think about this fragrance I see myself wearing a white shirt at the top of a mountain yelling the word "Liberty" ! A free like the air perfume.
For a fresh / aquatic scent, longevity is definately above average ! It stays on my skin for about 6 hours, and many more on clothes.
Sillage is moderate, making it enjoyable for everyone around without being overwhelming.
Fresh and uplifting, it's an ideal spring / summer fragrance, but I'm sure it would suit any other season as well. I got complimented many times.
Could be unisex without a problem. My girlfriend steals it from me sometimes (I was wondering why my bottle was emptying so fast...).
Definetely a must buy !
So glad to see my signature scent get so many positive reviews and the attention it deserves! Though in all honesty, I wouldn't care anyway if no one reviewed it; more for me. I've sampled and sprayed so many (hundred) different colognes over the past several years and still I keep coming back to this. Enchanted woods. Ambery/deep spicy grapefruit. My own personal catnip!!!
This is completely a unique scent in and of itself. Powerful stuff, too.
absolutely love this. its what i called a 'head turner'; ppl turn around to sniff as you walk past.
My friends know this and somehow i was gifted with 2 boxes (125ml each) over bday. Let me know if you are interested to trade/ buy it off me- keedon @ gmail dot com.
PS: I have my stock to keep me going till retirement.
Good Lord, after wearing Allure Sport for several months then coming back to this one....man, there's a lot more going on here, and it's a lot nicer and more mature.
L'Eau d'Issey is what I would call a mysterious summer aquatic. It seems to have a bit of a dark side that is sexier then Aqua Di Geo and other run of the mill summertime scents. And honestly people, where are you gonna find a summer fragrance with the projection of this legend?? Nowhere! And add the price value into the mix? Reminds me of the Old Milwaukee beer commercials in the 80's....."Guys, it just doesn't get any better than this".
Iam compelled to second the opinion of ruchitdave23..i did buy a bottle of issey in s'pore airport and still to open it for a special occassion!!..But while testing the frag on my skin and paper, I was so overwhelmed by an exuberant feeling that, I never succeeded in determining the prominent note!Wondered whether to call it Aquatic or aromatic or woody..But i got a very unique lotus aroma which I've only smelt in fresh cut lotuses from ponds near my home..This I think is very extrordinary for a perfume to capture such a unique 'lotus starting to bloom' note!
Its gr8 news that Issey projects well and has longevity for 8+hrs..I too have come now to hot and humid south India, where even the mightiest of the sillage beasts succumb and vanish into thin air in minutes! If Issey works well in mumbai, then it should project well down south too!!..I'll soon test it here and give my reviews!!
all hail the great mighty unique intelligent sophisticated classy ageless timeless seasonless ISSEY MIYAKE L'EAU D'ISSEY POUR HOMME .
we the humble perfume lovers bow down to your magic charisma and presence ......in two words 'YOU RULE'
guys there is no amount of positive things that can be said about this scent .......its by far .....by far .....literally lightyears ....the best scent on the market.. to say its on the market is kind of humiliating to this scent so i shall say its the best scent that has graced us humans with its existence on this earth .
top note : fresh citrus.non sweet .tinge sour lime. like the yellowest of lemons you can imagine and just freshly cut . after the initial blast of citrus the yuzu bergamont and mild basil settle in ......and wow .....how they settle in ...you feel like you want to keep smelling it again and again and again...if you close your eyes you are transported to an isolated japanese zen garden or to some monastery at the base of the himalayas......at the freshest point of the trek where the grass and the snow co exist on the mountain.....open them and you are back in the mall where you are testing the scent with the sales girl grinning at the look of wonder on your face.
mid note: citrus and yuzu linger throughout but now they are joined by an aromatic woody mix.cedar and sandle woods with musk and fresh water lillys......wow ....just wow . and then it takes you to the next level with a hint of cinnamon oakmoss and vetiver...this scent opens up a portal through which your olfactory mucosa travels to the depths of the ocean and the edge of the stratosphere at the same time ....the best part is that although it is woody it is not overtly woody ...just perfect .......the genetics of the citrus and yuzu and basil are not tampered with all the other tones revolve around it like a seductive salsa . somewhere in the spice is green chilli and black pepper but u really have to search for it as its in such a tinge minute quantity literally nano grams.
base note :now the yuzu wood and bergamont are more enhanced than the citrus but still the citrus exists .....this is the most singular achievement for this genre of scents as most other citrus scents the citrus disappears after 2-3 hrs leaving a light headed weak powdery empty feel.......but no .....not the mighty ISSEY......the citrus lasts and lasts and lasts ....even upto6-7 hrs later.....and im in a tropical climate hot humid with city pollution ....and the mighty ISSEY beats it all ....fair and square ...can smell it on me even after 8 hrs of city life....no other scent .....i repeat absolutely no other scent in the world ......be it thierry mugler a men or narscisco rdgez male or paco one million or even green irish tweed .......have used them all and non have survived the harsh hot humid environs of downtown mumbai for 9 hrs .
only survivor is the mighty ISSEY...........lingers even after 10 -12 hrs. it takes the term silent assassin to the next level.....why ... because this scent in never brash and loud but it is just there .....typical strong silent male .

ladies this scent ....great gift for ur guy .....its like the decent button down guy your parents will love but ...thats such a turn on because only you are the one who really knows how raunchy experimental wild and strong this hunk really is deep down .
This is a pearl born under the deep sea still untouched, away from nuclear tests or whaling is a fresh fragrance of citrus and sweet grass, in it there is something melancholy perhaps a memory escaped the memory, it is something really good to wear and makes you feel happy, has a wood gently bitter and manly at the same time but could be worn equally by both sexes some
CKOne as Calvin Klein has the gift of uniting
the two parts of the same apple.
In the summer never go out without an umbrella, but if there are no showers against the heat do not go out without it.
Adoro essa fragrância.Ela é muito refrescante e não vejo nada de sintética nela, acho bem natural.Fica perfeito em dias quentes.Em mim a fixação e projeção são excelentes.Realmente está entre os meus prediletos.
It's good but not great, Having an issue on longevity but overall i recommend it.
In the opening I get pure ginger ale. Not Canada Dry but like natural high quality ginger ale. If the scent stayed that way I'd be sold but after a while it turned into a synthetic "axe" like smell.
I had high hopes but was sadly let down overall.
This is a fragrance that you either love or hate. The first time I ever tried it I thought it was strong. Then a few hours later came the dry down, and I was in love. It is the perfect summer fragrance for men. I love citrucy colognes and this one is defenitely one of my favorites. It lasts a long time on me.
A little femenine i think, definately unisex as another reviewer pointed out. Nice nevertheless. My nose picks up more floral tones than citrus (just the initial burst). I guess thats why i think its not just pour homme.
update: it seems the more i use it the more i am drawn to it. I am begining to like this fragrance a lot.
Pallid fruity. More or less like fruit cocktail water, but far less intense. Yawn.
I have no idea, should i say its good or Ok, the opening is very crisp and a blast, strong very Fresh, after like 15 mins, It stays on your skin and remains there, its more of skin scent, Longevity is good, Projection is mild on my skin, silage i would say low......a very unique fragrance that's what i like about it and its a little classy something different, i guess i would say its a Good scent...however when am finish with it, i wont go for it, there are better ones out there.
smells are very important to me I bought a sample vial plus an after shave sample sprayed all of it its been a while but I just placed an order for the 2.5 oz and I can't wait to smell this again its a smell that takes you to a good point in your life even though this smell may not have been present at the time if that makes sense ha I can't wait to get the full bottle and try it for real and give the accurate review lost my after shave in my car somewhere :( couple more days been waiting on this one...
guys, wear it on a date and see the magic, double the magic if the girl you're dating is exuberant :)
i love this parfume
I got a sample of this. I don't like the version for women so I wasn't sure about this, but it's actually quit nice. The opening notes are very sharp citrus with a hint of vetiver. Even in the dry down it stays very fresh, like white linen. It's nice & refreshing during summer. It has moderate longevity, like 4-8 hours.
This Juice is really very nice. Its fresh and citrusy definitely not overwhelmig.
This is a unisex perfume.Sillage is moderate longevity is 4-5 hrs 3.5inch
5-6hrs 2.5inch
Anyone above 25 can pull this off
A very good work scent
Great projection, great longevity and draws good compliments.
The only downfall for me is that it's too flowery and strong sometimes. Some days I get headaches from it.
I've been thinking of trading my bottle for the Sport version or one of the Summer versions of L'eau D'issey. Those aren't so aggressive.
Overall: 4/5
One of the best summer fragrances ever made. Even if you've never owned a bottle chances are you've probably smelled this on someone. Better than Acqua Di Gio.
Great juice. A great spring and summer scent with good longevity. Unfortunately I can't wear this one. It's my only cologne that immediately triggers an allergy attack for me. I wish I knew which ingredient it was, so I knew what to avoid in the future.
Certainly not a knock on the cologne, just not for me.
I've owned a bottle of Issey Miyake Pour Homme since my introduction to the cologne back in 2001 (Freshman in College). This cologne is a timeless classic. I say timeless because some older colognes (Drakkar, Obessesion etc....) smell dated. Issey Miyake Pour Homme however, smells modern and still holds it's own with newer fragrances. With this scent, you get a citrus blast. It's not a typical lemon or bergamont citrus, but more of a exotic citrus. This may be the Yuzu note. Once this cologne settles in, you start to pick up the sandlewood, musk, and cinnamon notes. The longevity for this cologne is a strong 9 hrs. The sillage is strong as well. People will definitely smell you. In terms of season, you can wear this all year round. This is a very versitile fragrance. Me personally, I bring Issey out in the Spring and Summer months. This cologne works wonders in hot weather. Overall, Issey Miyake Pour Homme is a Masterpiece. I will always have a bottle of this cologne in my collection for the rest of my life.
I'm excited to have this one. It seems that most of reviews are complimented with this juice...
Definitely i'll put this one on my collections.
This is one Awesome Fragrance, i go back to it every summer, it lasts long, very long, after 5 hours it comes and goes as you move, amazing longevity, as silage goes, stays moderate, mild projection, dry down goes very well, very nice to wear for office, it will always be there in my collection, bottle after bottle.....one of my Favs.
Longevity, longevity, longevity. This thing is a beast when it comes to performance. Fresh clean scent with florals and tea notes. I get a lot of compliments with this fragrance, and find its something you can wear almost anywhere. I would say though that I find it a little overwhelming when is hot & humid outside. Great performance, great price, great scent. Should be on anyones 'try' list who is looking for something fresh, exotic, and does not might a little bit of florals.
the opening is sharp like dishwasher liquid, but then it becomes really gentle and wonderful. it makes me think of summer rain clouds.
Very citrusy and fresh opening, which rather too quickly fades to a soft, lovely floral that, yes, women love. I agree that while one's own prefs are important, I wear colognefor others' enjoyment, too!
If you are at all sensitive to nutmeg, as I am, then this fragrance will make you feel slightly nauseous. Perhaps this explains the less-than-universal appeal.
Got this today... Awesome scent. Surprisingly, the opening wasn't as harsh on my nose as I thought it would be. This does smell a bit like the female version, but it has more depth. I smell the citrus, the flowers and the woodsy/musky notes. I'm a woman and I prefer this one, as it's not cloying. Definitely a unisex fragrance, office-safe and very veratile. Fresh, but not as aquatic as Acqua di Giò. A classic for a reason. This could easily become my signature scent.
Longevity for me has been over eight hours.
WOW!! I love, love this fragrance. It is fresh, lemony and makes me very happy. It lasts all day on me and I like that. I get many compliments every time I wear it.
Madam said its sexy and its a fragrance she loves. I didnt even bother to try and trusted her opinion and bought it. Another mistake of my life. It is far too strong it's citrusyness almost made me sneeze the first time I sprayed it. 5 years on and the bottle has still a quarter left. The smell does linger around for many hours, I've hit over 12 hours with this one. If your after a little 'wake me up' fragrance then this is for you. Try before you buy.
i use to like it 4 years ago but now all the market is filled with this kind of smell
I'm sorry, but it's nice, and that's ALL! IMHO ! Maybe, I don't understand this world :^)))))
This is how a mature, well groomed man smells after a hot shower. Professional, well suited for a busy fella. Ladies and gentlemen have given compliments every time I wear this scent. Great, non-invasive, light as air feel once dried down.
This is the only citrus scent that's complicated enough to get my approval. I am not a fan of aquatic/citrus scents at all. I think that aquatic perfumes are inexpensive in terms of their appeal. They tend to be too light and lack the certain degree of warmth and seriousness that is expected of an authentic perfume. Issey Miyake Pour Homme however played well with nutmeg and sandalwood which gives the rather common citrusy scent some sense of mystery. I love the fact that it can claim to be a citrus yet serious enough to catch a woman's (not a girl's) attention.
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh L'Eau d'Issey
That's what you'll say when you smell this.
Some argue this fragrance might be a little played out but its just a fresh one that I don't think you can get sick of.
Picture a bowl of Citrus/Lemons and sniffing them heh
I picture this frag on a nice cool spring day, hands down.
Smells like feminine deodorant spray (FDS). Instant headache. Would rather go with no scent. 0 of 10 honestly.
A strong fragrance, especially on dry down. To be used in moderation, especially in hot weather. It is very strong on the ozone — not for me.
Man what can i say about the infamous Issey Miyake Pour Homme. This fragrance sold like hotcakes when it hit. A fan favorite. Women get a wiff of this and go nuts. A lot of women identify this fragrance easily along with Curve, Cool Water, Acqua Di Gio, and Polo Blue. This has become a best seller, top ten etc for the past 10 years. Perfect blend of citrus, spice and woods. Great year round but better in the spring/summer time
Just booked it for my boyfriend's birthday. The reviews seem really good, I hope it turns out to be that good.
Did the formula change? Did the color make a difference in the smell? Was it a good thing or a bad thing? Anyone know?
Y is it that the older issey miyake bottles have a yellowish tint to the liquid and the newer bottles have a more lighter clearer tint to it? Anybody know?
I wouldn't say the top notes of this fragrance are bad, but they are not my favorite...at least at first. It kept me from trying this on my skin for years. When I eventually sprayed some on my skin and let it sit, I was memorized by the dry down. Over time I find the top notes don't bother me like they used to. Others seem to fall in love with the scent before the magic of the dry down occurs. There's a reason why this has endured.
Wow am I ever glad I just got a tester of this stuff. Yes it is refershing and smells nice. But it has a bit of soapyness to it and mix that with citrus notes and I cant help but smell sunlight detergent. This isnt necessarily a bad thing but its not a good thing either.
It is still enjoyable but I would rather wear many of my other colognes before i go back to this one. Infact if you like YUZU, the main note of this frag, you might like Vera Wang, it is the main note of that frag as well but it is wayyyyy more sensual and less chemical smelling...
Thats a wonderful citric floral for all seasons. It's classic and timeless. Not too sweet, not too citric. It's a very well balanced scent. Sillage, projection and lasting power are excellent!
Definetely a MUST HAVE! Worth a bottle and a backup bottle! Thumbs up.
I like the citrus on top. But the thing with this one is this: Florals. I get a lot of it. And it's something that i just don't like.
The drydown is really nice too. Smelling my hand (or whatever) some hours after applying i get a very pleasing smell of woods and i think some nutmeg.
It's true, it last and projects.
As i said, this is really floral and people should know it if they are blind buying. A lot of men can't stand floral notes in some fragrances (like myself, maybe because of the mix with the citrus and the fact that they come of the top or almost) or even all fragrances.
It's great for the right guy but not for me.
Sample before even thinking about getting it!
This fragrance is so overrated. The first time I wore it, I was so irritated by the pepper that I jumped in the shower and washed it off. It is quite powerful to be a citrus fragrance. I like it more now than then, but it is still overrated.
Surprsisingly to me, who am not into aquatic scents, this one ends up smelling really nice after and hour or so. The opening has similarities with the opening of Oxgene, quite sharp and heavy on the conipherous trees, altough more so in Oxygene, and they do have a parallel progression in that that scent does smooth out to give origin to a sort of sweetish softer very pleasant scent. L'eau D'Issey has a much more aquatic opening which I do not notice in Oxygene. In both fragrances, the scent is much nicer, softer and more sophisticated at a distance than from close on. You can tell that they were crafted by the same master. I would say that Oxygene smells more sophisticated, since the scent feels very fidgety, hard to catch, and I do not mean hard to smell, just changeable, like a flame blown in different directions all the time and displaying different features from each angle. As I said the opening of L'eau d'Issey is very bitterly and harshly aquatic, and from close on it does still seem to keep that way for long, but when I wear it on my neck and head it did change into a lovely soft and not at all stereotyped scent, which reminds me of Omnia Crystaline, which I love. Five stars. I was offered a bottle by my brother and sister in law one year ago, before I actually started appreciating it.
Amazing fragrance, but I find it like CKone - a little bit overdone by now.
Very common and probably a little to sweet these days.
Still - I can smell why it has been so popular and remains to be.
It does not really work for me. I think it is too fruity for my taste. I don't like yuzu and lemon anyways. I did not like the sharp opening, but the drydown was much more pleasant. Those who like fresh, fruity, floral scents will love it.
issey miyake is the best.
i have aqua di gio, azzaro chrome,212 carolina herra, davidoff coolwater, poco robane one million, gucci by gucci, polo blue, lacoste pure, this beats them all.
a clean fresh scent .
Smells a bit feminine to me..can see (smell) the Joop market using Miyake in summer..If you can try to source an original bottle from back in the day..much more ballsy..
Original Miyake 7/10
Current 4/10
Here we go, finally, my signature scent for so many years. I've purchased three of their biggest bottles over the course of 5 years, and remain stalwart in my assertion that this is a man's best scent.
It's citrusy and woody. It's a complex woody scent, one that needs to be applied to mix with one's own body oils to experience. It's one of those frags that really needs to be sprayed on and you need to walk around to really get to know the scent.
Never smelled it on someone and thought it smelled badly. Though I do think it smells very differently on different people. For me, a universal fragrance. The citrus keeps it fresh in the summer but the predominate wood and spicy notes make it applicable for the spring and fall. I usually go for other fragrances towards the holidays, simply because the weather changes, so why shouldn't my cologne? But this is a truly multi-faceted fragrance, and good year-round.
This is my signature smell!!! Its just great!! Woody notes with the citrus undertone, is just modern classy and a clean confident smell for the everyday. I'll forever be in love with L'Eau d'Issey Pour Homme Issey Miyake.
Smells like a middle-aged semi-bald businessman that just left the gym.
strong air fresner smell. too loud, to strong and to much. the below review is exact what i get too. opening is yuk

I'm disappointed in this fragrance big time. But it might only be because i had the highest hopes for this out of everything.
Basically i found out about this fragrance from a song by Chipmunk (flying high). So i looked into it, and found amazing compliments and reviews everywhere. Everyone mentioned its amazing longevity and projection, the long lasting of sever stages of dream smells. Everyone said it was kinda citrus and fresh bit of aqua as well. So it really seamed like the perfect scent, just the one i was looking for, for a while. So i eventually went down the store to test it. Oh man, i shouldn't of. Now heres the point. Don t get me wrong, this is everything that has been described, but too much, and heres what put me off, the way this scent is built with the citrus, aqua, floral tones it instantly reminded me of the air-freshener that you use in the toilets. And it reminded me of that sooo much so, that i was a bit embarrassed walking out of the shopping center. But, and heres the but. That smell isn't too bad right, thats why its called a freshener. So i don't hate on this scent, and i do liked it, but i couldn't imagine myself wearing it and not being afraid all the time of someone asking me if i just had a poo and used a load of air-freshener. So if for you that association doesn't instantly come up, your good to go and enjoy wearing this amazing scent. Unfortunately, im really sad about it, but it just wasn't for me.
It seems amazing that this fragrance is now approaching the 20 year mark and has drifted almost imperceptibly and effortlessly from the rank of young pretender to old faithful without losing any of its charm.
As others have commentated this was a truly breakthrough perfume at the time of its original release: it's fresh notes of slightly wooded lemon verbena and coriander slicing through the early nineties mists still heavy with the remnants of the eighties powerhouses.
Yes it may hark back to a citrus past represented by Eau Sauvage and even Pour Monsieur, but its crispness now legendary projection and sillage set it apart.
Some may feel that this has become a victim of its ubiquity (or the ever-presence of its countless imitators over the last couple of decades), it may present to others as being as much a cliche as those flash fragrances of the 80s seemed when it swept the the cobwebs away on its release.
For my money L'eau D'Issey is and always has been a game changer. A fragrance that struck out a new note - or updated a previously forgotten one - and sent many of us in a new direction.
My tastes have changed and broadened considerably since this was my wear everyday scent, but it is still a must have in every true fragrance vocabulary - as evocative of the 90s as Channel Pour Monsieur, Aramis, Pierre Cardin Pour Monsieur and Kouros were of the forty years before.
Put the hard sell of the past out of your mind and experience the excellence.
Citrus and saltwater.
I like it, but think it's too sour and salty. Not a favorite of mine. Lasts long though.
Smells very modern. I am surprised to see it's from 1994.
Reminds me of Bvlgari Aqva.
I work in Fragrance and I'm CONSTANTLY showing this to my male clients looking for something fresh. About 9 out of 10 say they LOVE it. The one that doesn't like it usually goes for something a little more stereotypically manly, like Chanel Bleu or YSL pour homme. TRY IT. It's incredible, and my personal men's frangrance out of the 100 or so that we sell.
strong and very floral! smells like a bouquet of freshly picked flowers spritzed with lemon/grapefruit. pungent is the word i'd use to describe this. very strange and intriguing.
this perfume is so strong...all i can say its just a plain floral...only jasmine, i couldn't find any other notes.. i had headache by smelling this..
I wear this after a shower on a summers night, just before heading into town, what a crowd pleaser. Girls love it, so do guys. So fresh.
God this is a golden oldie now, my older bro was wearing this in about 1996 :D I Love it though its becoming timeless and a fresh clean citrus woody scent. Amazing in the summer and lasts ages. Not sure it stands up as well to some of the scents on the market today but it was incredible for its day.
Opening is so strong, almost offensive then it goes to a nice floral dry down, I imagine myself in a japanese garden
Very nice i love the freshness of this it nearly lasts forever
Very nice i love the freshness of this it nearly lasts forever
very COMMON i dont like this anymore..!!
Opposed to the newer fragrances now a days this one smells old and in my opinion hard to wear for anyone that is under 18.
After hearing RAVE reviews of this cologne I blind bought it which I know is a NO NO but 95% of everyone liked It so I said "WHAT THE HELL" Well NOT ME!! smells like floral perfume and dead flowers not cologne!! so I gave it a week of solid wear and still the same results its lasts 8-10 hrs but not a cologne to me. I'm willing to trade it I bought the Gift Set of this bottle with the aftershave and all 4.2oz 95% full and 3.4 aftershave is New
@Kambelz
I completely agree! This really does smell like rotting white flowers. Its aweful and it really does make me appreciate CK One more than before!
What can I say?I had this one back in 1998 and I have it now since yesterday.Must say I had good deal on Issey that usually doesn't come cheap, but with 40% discount it makes it awsome. For those who are familiar with the fragrance it is irrelevent to say that it has top quality and stays best seller for nearly 20 years. For people who hear about it for the first time it's a sure hit.I've felt very sporty wearing this fragrance.Jacques Cavallier is responsible for this piece of art.I also have his other creations:BVLGARI POUR HOMME & ULTRAVIOLET by Paco Rabanne and I love them all.Though I think that it is not for evreyone.Men who have sporty look and self confident personality I think it'll suit you perfectly. The notes are very masculine and sharp on one side ,balanced and harmonic on the other.
Part of my wardrobe.
Sometimes it lasts more sometimes less. It seems to be this scent is affected by weather conditions. I think it's "activated" when it's hot and lasts longer and projects better. I don't know what to think. I love the smell though.
Bought this the other day...crap does smell decent but last like 4 hours....preety much useless
average perfume nothing much may be too annoying for some people!..6/10
I remember when this use to have a high-quality dense "oily" feel when you would spray it on your skin. Now it's been reformulated to a cheap synthetic mess in the name of profits.
SHAME ON all houses that reformulates classic , powerful , incredible fragrances to weak , poor , bad ! scents! losing reputation for more money. SHAME ON YOU
This is a very well blended combination of citrus and woody notes. It settles to a woody-aquatic scent which is fresh and somewhat crispy.
This is certainly one of the best scents in its class and even though its almost two decades old still a very well justified purchase: highly recommended for daily wear!
Excellent longevity and projection.
Doin' the review in different way , it takes me back to classic era.Very fresh , very green, brilliance defined.Making me rethink that old is gold and these days everything is so generic.Every modern perfume smells the same,LIKE HUGO BOSS DERIVAtives. This was the ice cube and neu skool ones are lil' wayne.
Here's the deal. Don't be fooled by the opening. Once this scent drys down for a few minutes, it becomes very pleasant. My lesbian co-worker used it and immediately women in the office (shy and outgoing) were trying to figure out who was wearing this fragrance. lol. I believe this fragrance has pheromones in it. The scent has a strong longetivity and projects well. My new signature fragrance!
The opening top notes is so OFFENSIVE to my nose..extremely potent and smells like bug spray..HOWEVER once it settles Its very pleasant..
One of the sexiest most distinct fragrances ever created. To my nose this has a fresh-sexy,clean body smell.its like a natural-powerful manly aura. The drydown is slightly musky and besides turning me on it also feels cozy and snugly.excellent longevity and sillage in a reasonably priced product.
Great scent and longevity, BUT, it does waver towards the feminine. At least, in my opinion, and you know opinions, they're like assholes, everyone has one :)
This is sexy, slightly musky, salty, woodsy, hint of citrus and spice - but still clean. Nothing sharp or biting. Most men's fragrance falls into 2 categories for me - the soapy pine needleish group, or the oily chest-hair-showing-gold-chain-wearing-mack-daddy group. L'eau d'Issey Pour Homme is neither. This is so yummy on my husband and a total winner.
I usually like sweet/woody/oriental fragrances and I tought I'd like this one, according to some very positive reviews I've read here and in some other perfume websites. But when I tried it out, I found it too sweet and floral. Too similar to the feminine version and a little sickening.
this stuff actually nauseated me,it smeeled like a strong sea salt on type of more salt with a hint of lemon,i dont understand the love for this.
i'd say you're wright, i'm facing the same problem, and l'eau sure wasn't like that when i first used it years ago
L'eau d'issey is reformulated ? damn i love the smell but it dosent last at all on my skin , only one hour ! without any projection FUCK. and i bought it from a reliable perfumery!
perfect scent always wearable always nice to other people cant complain really. suitable for most occasions i wear around house sometimes clubbing work
This is deffinetly reformaulted to what it used to be like about 10 years ago when I first bought it, far more citrusy & grapegruit.
Not as nice as what it used to be like
L'Eau d'Issey Pour Homme is one of the few fresh fragrances that really last long on me, along with Un Jardin Sur le Nil by Hermès and Kenzo pour Homme, so that's a big plus!
Well, when I first smelt this fragrance, I was very intrigued by the smell: I smelt ice. Dry ice.
It is icy, pure, crystalline, cold, breezing, spicy, flowery, watery, oriental and refreshing.
It's a blast of fresh energy that you receive, and that you walk with all the day long.
I felt immediately in love with this perfume, and it's one of my summer signatures.
Its longevity is insane for a fresh and summery fragrance, and so is the sillage: everyone will notice you, principally in the first hour
Girls find this perfume extremely seductive and sexy, so it's a compliment getter, for sure!
Issey Miyake did a great job creating this masterpiece, that still remains super actual in these days, and it will remain for many more.
A legend.
Truly amazing fragrance; not difficult to see why this is so popular.
I first discovered L'eau d'Issey in a tester when I got another fragrance. I used up the tester and ran - not walked - to my local retailer to pick up a bottle :-)
It's fresh, it's deep, it's sweet... a very interesting scent that, to me, smells like a rich and complex honey / lemon mix. It stays sweet throughout the drydown, which I like just fine. It makes me feel wonderful. Will definitely pick up another bottle when it runs out.
Projection: seems more then adequate. Not a beast like Le Male which is definitely a good thing. Even with a heavy finger it doesn't overstay its welcome.
Longevity: oh man! I've smelled it two days later on shirts that I dropped in the laundry. Definitely long lasting.
L'Eau d'Issey Pour Homme, Aqua di Gio and Armani code are the top 3 overrated perfumes.
L'Eau d'Issey Pour Homme = cant dislike or ignore this :)
L'Eau d'Issey Pour Homme is a powerful scent and very masculine. This layers very well with L'Eau d'Issey Pour Homme Intense.
i will second sf2explus in that it is indeed very long lasting, unless you have a fake at hand.
the fresh fragrance continues to envelope me and is very prominent to me. In my opinion if you bathe in this juice it actually begins to stink. four spray tops the limit!
It opens with a very sharp citrus, and personally i also got a lot of floral notes. Because of these floral notes, i would argue that this fragrance can be worn by both sexes.
Despite the harshness of the opening, there are some strengths to this fragrance. For example, this juice lasts. Long. About 12 hours on me. This is especially amazing considering this is a fresh fragrance.
Due to the (in my opinion) awfully harsh floral and overly-sharp citrus, i do not recommend this as a gift. Gift fragrances should be pleasing to everyone's nose to ensure the best results, and so buying this as a gift would be a complete gamble because this has a very controversial group of top notes, and the fact that, if the person dislikes it but sprays themselves, they won't be able to get rid of the smell for a very long time due to the sheer longevity of this fragrance.
I know I am in the minority here but this stuff just smells like a common household cleaner... Let my wife smell it and she said the same thing... Perhaps I need to give it more time (I would think A LOT more time) but I could not keep this stuff on my skin so I went and washed it off... Terrible...
Its good but not the best. Enough said.
Hello everyone! This is my state/review:
I've just acquired this scent. Why can't smell it after about 3 - hours on my skin?? (6 sprays on me, kind of lost its trace so I had to splash it again twice) = 8 sprays) I've asked a friend of mine (in a pub, full of smoke and other scents)and she told me it it was the best?
(She was kind of daydreaming in who knows what) but still I have a little remaining of its trace on my wrist, very little!?? I've bought it yestereday, I was very convinced it had a very good sillage and longevity. Don't know what happends to me!! I think no parfum doesnt's last long on me...I feel kind of frustrated because I love this scent so. International average on it makes me think that it projects, lastst long but i'm doubting on it. Could be due to olfative fatigue? Or sort of? Somebody, give me a hint. I've purchased it yesterday, authentic, purchased it in a very well known place in my country (Argentina), and I'm still doubtfull as regards its longevity and projection. Any help? So thankful in advance.
I love this scent so much, but it lasts maybe an hour on my skin. It's such a shame because I sprayed it on me at a nordstrom rack the other day and it lasted until I jumped in the shower 3 hours later. I got it in the mail yesterday, and dissapointment. If this stuff lasted longer on me, I would make it my summer signature. Very good scent but terrible longevity.
EDIT: What I had bought when I wrote this review was a fake counterfit. I bought a (genuine) small bottle on sale at Nordstrom Rack and it's the same smell but much MUCH longer lasting and strong. It's the same one that I tested before I bought the fake. BEWARE the fakes of this stuff. They are mass produced. Just buy it at the store or a trusted reputable website like fragrancenet which never sold me a fake.
I have worn this scent in the summer time in the past, and I have always enjoyed the way it smells. Especially in the opening of this frag, I mean the scent is wonderful. I would wear this on a nice breezy day.
This is a very nice fragrance. I enjoy it from the start to the end. It has the most pleasant smell which i can wear everyday, anytime. I know this is the one for me when i first smell it. Highly recommended by me.
Ir's a question of tastes and skins. I don't feel anything special with this fragrance. Nice sharp citrus scent at the opening but for me a boring perfume. Projection is good but longevity very very short on me. I'm happy my bottle was a present and I didn't spend money on it.
Brilliant scent.Awesome fresh woody scent. The longevity and projection is very good for a fresh scent and it persists on the skin for a long long time and that is a very positive point.Overdoing it doesnt do justice to the scent coz it powerful.Less is more with this one.It leaves a nice trail behind which guarantees compliments.
Yuzu, lemony opening and woody-musky dry down.It is fresh and invigorating.
Initially I was not that impressed with this scent as it smelled sour & reeked of piss.Sorry Mr.Jacques Cavallier.I truly underestimated your masterpiece..It is really very fresh and unique scent which turns out to be fresh and then takes a woody turn.It is pleasant all the way.The scent not only has Yuzu & lemon but all other mysterious ingredients which reveal itself after some 2-3 hours. It has incredible longevity and projection as described earlier. The scent which has many faces as well as "phases".It is versatile as well, which can be worn year round. I am a believer of this scent.I detect a hint of sandalwood & other woods which justifies its male side. Now I love it and will always be a staple scent in my wardrobe.L'Eau D'Issey pour Homme, you are a chameleon. Now I am a believer of fresh scents.
Lord have mercy! Never in my life have I ever smelled a manlier, sexy scent! :D Smells like straight up lemons and pheromones. And then put those in a cardboard box with some cinnamon. Buy this if you wanna smell like a real MaNLy Man.
When I first met my husband, he had never tried aftershave before - spray deodorant was as far as he'd gone (now he uses roll on with this exquisite aftershave on top...the spray is gone!) - Dear hubby is a little cool but polite with people he doesn't know, prickly when riled but all passion in a unique way with those he does love.
He is one of a kind so when I first sniffed Issey and fell in love with that potion, I thought it smelt like the very essence of my dear hubby. I took him a test spray and what do you know? It's the first aftershave he's ever liked (have since introduced him to Black by Kenneth Cole, not his true fave tho).
People have come to know Issey as my hubby's signature. There's something so cool & fresh about it, equally at home on a beach or in the snow without all the usual expected aftershave heaviness of a man's scent that is pure heaven to my nose. What a masterpiece.
It took me a long time to love this perfume, but after i received a sample, ironically after i bought another bottle of a perfume that i also resist for a long long time (Aramis by aramis)witch became my winter and formal wear and reunions perfume, i try L´Eau D´Issey and instantaneously felt in love. It stays all day at my skin.
Fresh and warm at the same time. Its become a part of my life since 3 days ago.
At frst spray, the CITRUS is killing me!
It's like spraying pure lemonade to your skin.
But then after about 10 mins, it started to smell nice and clean, and 3 of my friends (all girls) said that they love it.
So "No Pain No Gain" is a nice phrase for this perfume, handle the painful citrus smell and the people around you will love it.
I have bought this scent and loved the smell. Yes, it is unique and yes, it is very nice. I am just one of the unlucky ones that it doesn't last very long on.
I get about 3-4 hours (on my skin) before it is gone and can not smell it any more. Which is a massive shame.
One of my mates has used it as well and they report similar longevity.
Love the smell but my advice is to test first and just see how long it will last on your skin.
Results:
Scent: 8/10
Sillage: 7/10
Longevity: 4/10 (SORRY!!!)
L'Eau d'Issey Pour Homme is a masterpiece and also my absolute number one. I have been using Issey for over fifteen years and never come across anything that would even slightly equal this perfume. There had been many attempts ... and only Noir / Gold, summer editions, or Issey Miyake Intense version could captivate me in a similar way.
Probably to most of us this scent is quite well known - it is a perfect combination of watery and woody notes, with herbs and my beloved yuzu, lime, bergamot and coriander with a hint of other wonderful spices. A perfectly balanced top note, like swimming in crystal clear, transparent water; with sweet floral notes emerging in the heart note - hypnotizing. Woody notes add a truly masculine nature of being in perfect correlation with the lighter notes. In this composition, there is something incredibly ethereal, sterile, cold and crystalline at times; mix full of sensuality. Very sophisticated, fresh and extremely sexy. A masterpiece.
L'Eau d'Issey Pour ... reminds me of the twilight over the South China Sea, rainy day by Ha Long bay and a Japanese garden pierced with the smell of dew on a lotus flowers and lilies at dawn. This creation is the essence of Southeast Asia ... mysterious, exotic, unpredictable, charming, metaphysical, unmatched by any other place on earth known to me.
L'Eau d'Issey is a perfect scent for a man, contrary to many opinions, does not raise any associations of unisex or women's perfumes (L'Eau d'Issey Pour Femme and L'Eau d'Issey Eau de Parfum - equally stunning).
Suitable for every season, every occasion, time of day and in every age. Its durability is eternity for me - perfect. Water, however, designed for brave, confident men, who appreciate originality and sophistication. L'Eau d'Issey Issey Miyake has no competition for me. I do not think any other scent will ever have ravished me in quite this way again.
Not your average "fresh" fragrance! It's not hard to see why some people cannot get it - they're better off with Acqua Di Gio & D&G Light Blue.
First off, the citruses will attack you - and by that I mean grab-your-hair-and-wake-u-up! There's bergamot, there's yuzu, there's lemon AND Mandarin Orange! Very acidic and even bitter. I don't mind it but do I really love the top note? No.
The middle notes are largely spicy and floral. U get the coriander, the nutmeg, and the balmy saffron...
But for me, the magic starts in the base notes, with the earthy vetiver, and the lingering sandalwood and musk.
L'Eau D'Issey is a masterclass of notes blending (and I have said something similar to only one other perfume - L'Instant De Guerlain). It's a fairly old perfume - introduced in 1994 - but still widely used and loved. Hope they never take it off the shelf...
Overall: 4.1
5 Nose-gasm
4 Awsome sauce!
3 Good but not exciting enough
2 Meh!
1 Hell to the no!
An untamed borderline powerhouse fresh fragrance. Citric freshness with honey-like sweetness with a floral mid to redefine the meaning of masculinity (comfort!). A timeless cologne that will no doubt still be seen in department stores 20-30 years from now.
L'eau d'Issey is a great aquatic for spring or summer, dynamizing, fresh. The bad is that this type of scent become to age. So many aquatic / ozonic fragrances have been launched that you may find something more interesting, or be simply bored by those Aqua Di Gio clone's. The calone has been used with much more success in other pefumes. If you like this one don't buy it before testing also Clinique Happy, Aqua Di Gio, Kenzo Pour Homme... the list is long.
Lasting : medium
Scent : widely used during the 90's
ok, this is a special one and smells differently to most others but I dont see anything extraordinary in, some of my friends loves that one and its a nice one but I dont think I,d buy it for myself
I don't know why this is so popular, I just get citrus, citrus and citrus. Not exciting in my opinion.
Exciting
Wonderful
Citrus
Very clean
Attractive to women
Continue for a romantic
Recommend it
I tried to like this but the citrus is too harsh and sharp for my nose. The scent isn't pleasent. It's a really annoying fragrance.
Is a good perfume of flowers, but not my kind of perfume because I like spicy scents, but I recommend it. It feels clean and fresh.
niche quality but too sharp for me. i like the sport better but doesnt last as long as this one.
10/10 Huge fragrance, Masculine. the dry down is incredible! Do not wast your time and money on all the flankers, stick to the one and only! Be careful on the trigger, huge projection. You will get noticed with this.
Do you like to have a masterpiece citric, floral and also a masculine fragrance? check this one out.
Start with fresh and so pleasant note of Yuzu which reminds you of grapefruit with hint of vetiver and lemon and a little floral notes.
After about 15 minutes the beautiful floral notes comes in with really magical smell and relaxing feel.
It's very natural and charming.
Reminds me of flower shops with light and beautiful aroma of flowers in the air.
Imagine this ....
Your are in a flower shop and a grapefruit juice is in your hand! you are smelling the floral notes in the air and drinking that fresh juice at the same time! just wonderful.
This is the true definition of masculine floral fragrance not something sh*t like Kenzo Power!
Great longevity for a fresh fragrance and above average projection.

من عاشق اين عطر هستم
a very safe buy and will always win compliments, but a very common perfume of todays time, so many people r wearing and tis happens when some perfume gets more compliments everyone starts wearing them, now tis is a set back, such perfumes they should keep a very high price around 150 dollars.so it will have limited and perfect people wearing.
My woman loves this therefore I love this lol. What's not to love about it though? Plenty of character, excellent all around creation.
Ever noticed how almost every summer scent is recommended for day wear?? L'Eau d'Issey Pour Homme to me seems like it would be perfect for summer evening wear just as much as it is for day wear. It's got some spiciness to it that would go great wearing to a nice restaurant on a quiet summer evening. I would venture to say more of a night scent then day, but great for both.
Scent - 9/10
Projection - 8/10
Longevity - 10/10
Value - 10/10
Overall - 37/40
After a long search, this is my "go to" fragrance for the summertime days. (which is about 6 months a year here in Florida). This one has it all; citrus, fresh, woody, a little spice, a little musk. A true classic which is great from the opening all the way through the dry down. Longevity is second to none for this kind of fragrance. 4-5 sprays lasts 12 hours.
the withdrawal symptoms in moving away from this to Terre d' Hermes, as my signature, were quite severe initially :-)
This is a classic and i always have it in my collection. I agree with most of the reviewers here that this is an extremely well balanced, fresh fragrance - timeless!
My girlfriends like it a lot! It`s like a wake-up in a morning into a citrus plantation with a water flow.
A true masterpiece. I love the yuzu and tobacco amber and musk in this. Others have commented on the longevity of this and everyone is spot on. You will get at least 8hrs out of this fragrance. I highly reccommend this. For this is one of my favorites.
One of the best fresh scents ever created. Opening may be strange at the begining, but after, pure beauty for my nose, plus unbeatable projection and longevity.
Must have.
Just tested this one out and all i can say is NICE. If you are a major fan of fresh clean scent then this is a great choice and on top of that despite it being a summer and spring fragrance this is one of thoughs colognes that can also be worn in the winter and fall because it has a sharp scent to it. 9.5 out of 10.
very clean scent, many compliments from females and questioning on what it is, I keep it to myself because I do not want anyone to get the same things I have.
I smell alot of floral from this one which I bought recently when they had a sale... But I remember when they first came out it smelled alot more lemon. I think rumors are true that fragrances have so-called "grades". The first batch of production runs are perfectly blended and very nice - they bottle these esp into tiny "sample" bottles and the very first run of the perfumes. Then after they exhaust in the rare ingredients they kind of dilute it down using more of the cheaper and more abundant ingredients. Thus the late production runs have a different smell and sell alot cheaper. Thats where Discount Chemists buy in bulk at cheap prices. and they bring to market at cheap prices. I swear to god I had the same experience with David Beckham Instinct. First and second bottles smell different... Anyone else agree?
I keep it short. This is my favourite summerfragrance for over many years. Very long lasting and stays good on your skin on warm/hot days. A summerclassic: JUS'T GREAT!
This is popular for a reason - it's excellent.
Don't let its popularity put you off. It's nowhere near as generic a smell as a lot of the other popular scents.
A great all round fragrance, good for casual or formal. Balances woody/citrus, fresh/masculine, with some spiciness and muskiness.
I can't in all honesty pick out all the notes individually but the overall effect is lovely, fresh and masculine but heavy enough to make its presence felt. Projects well for around 6 hours, lasts on my skin for 10+ hours.
I've had lots of compliments on this and everyone seems to like it.
Very good (but not excellent) longevity and good projection without slapping people in the nose.
lemon.... lemon.... lemon... i smell lemon... Not Fantastic.. :(
lemon.... lemon.... lemon... i smell lemon... Fantastic....
What a beautifully constructed fragrance. Some fragrances that begin with gorgeous top notes and then slowly become ordinary over time. Others you need to avoid the beginning to get to the good stuff later. But L'Eau d'Issey is the rare fragrance that is wonderful throughout its "lifespan".
The open is refreshing citrus leavened with herbs. It's not refreshing in the obvious lemony fresh way of ordinary aquatics. The herbs and the mix of different types of citrus give it a playfulness and character that is vastly more sophisticated.
As things settle down, it projects beautifully and not offensively with citrus as the lead note but with sandalwood, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Th contrast of bright and darker scent tones is very artful. Finally, the citrus fades into the background and the scent becomes more woodsy with sandalwood, nutmeg, and other spices. Despite the cinnamon, the scent is never sweet. It is more of a dry note.
In a way, it reminds me of a high end chardonnay with its bright, dry citrus complemented by darker notes. Of course, an important difference is that the notes in chardonnay tend to be fruity whereas here they are woodsy.
Excellent longevity and projection. The scent evolves in an interesting and sometimes unexpected way. It's brilliantly blended. Despite the aquatic label, this is much more than a simple aquatic. The mix of notes is something altogether unique.
Bottom line: This is a good blind buy, especially if you like aquatics and are looking to move up to something more sophisticated and rich in that family. It's a love/like fragrance rather than one that inspires more extreme opinions. Compared to the king of the aquatics, Aqua di Gio, this is vastly more interesting.
I can wear this fragrance in a formal setting or with a pair of jeans. It has a full, all around body that captures anyone in it's path. I have been asked numerous times what I was wearing. A must in a quality, not quantity men's collection.
Amazing!! This captures summer in a bottle. Your riding in your car with the window down, doin 45mph, and you pass a patch of grass that was just cut. You get that "whaft" of cut grass and summer breeze as you go by! To be able to bottle "summer", and then project that in the winter...I'm blown away!! Overplayed...sure. But the masses don't lie. A true masterpiece! Hats off to ya Mr. Miyake.
This perfume is long-lasting. I sprayed it and I smelled my wrist after 24 hours and I could still smell it.
This easily lasts more than 8 hours on me. Sillage is impressiv
what kind of fragrance is this ?? sillage and longevity is SUPERB NOTHING NOTHING CAN BEAT THIS ONE not even Yves Saint Laurent kouros or Dior Fahrenheit no matter what season in the year !!!!
i am looking for another perfume that would be the same longevity and sillage as L'Eau d'Issey but always disappointed even the more expensive ones .
good smell great quality compliments guaranteed .
simply magnificent .
Totally agree with Stevenoux in that the fragrance does have a lovely dry down and is very fresh for day wear. And I also agree with NYprospect`s review when he sais:"Simple,Safe, sexy."
This one is Fresh,Simple,Safe, sexy. Not sure about `simple` thou as there are many spices that are interesting. But not sexy!! just fresh.LOL.
At first, on me, this is almost offensively sharp. Certainly wakes me up in the morning... But as it dries down, it becomes a delicious fresh scent, combining with the woods and spices, toning down the overpowering citric smell. It finds harmony at its end... Sillage isn't too good but it lasts quite some time, albeit close to the skin.
There's something that really irritates me in that smell, maybe because my husband got it as a gift at the time I had this famous 'morning sickness' you know... Now my brother wears it happily, since we'll not meet too often :)
Simple,Safe,sexy.
The base note is intensely strong and at times feels too much. But definitely it hold an unparalleled appeal to people around the wearer
i think that tis is going to b come soon the modern classic , b coz this is like a never ending story it sells still at a great pace and all love it at first sniff itself. the best blind buy for anyone
citrico especiado, duraderofresco y varonil, calsa muy bien penerlo junto a aqua de gio, prueben esamescla y veran.
Really lovely, fresh, universal scent. Harmony and energy together. Love it and appreciate it.
It is my picky man's favourite fragrance and when I smell it on him I am surprised how it works on my senses. I am seduced straight away and I am thinking if it is a good idea he wears to work ;))
This male counterpart to the ladies version is not very masculine yet it was/is everywhere. It has that strange aquatic note that became so popular. It really cheapens the florals that seem rather artificial. The top notes are warm weather friendly and enter this "twilight zone" spicy heart.
Its green and watery. The closing want to welcome me, its almost chypre like. Then things become too unisex for me. It a little more solid than the ladies, yet it could never get past a paper spray on me. If this was trendy, I am truely a non-conformist!!!
this was quite a shock for me when I first smelled it around... I just couldn't believe its charm, energy and sex appeal! I had a 125 ml bottle and I just got compliment after compliment for it. The problem is it grew unbearable on me... I just couldn't wear it anymore cause it felt obnoxious, strong and to a certain extent too synthetic... I had a headache every time (ryvlajo says intrusive, couldn't agree more). I felt I had some sort of soda/sprite on me and I couldn't escape!! I even gave a quarter of the bottle away. I still believe it's an icon of clubbing and expertise but I rather smelled it on others... can't wear it myself. That way it doesn't tire me. I don't mean to be snob or arrogant but a big thumbs down too is it is too used and so it's lost a bit of its uniqueness.
I was one of the first persons in my county to try this masterpiece back in 95! Damn i still remember first impact with this beauty its was sharp, fresh and spicy and what i liked most of this fella is its sillage and good longevity because all my 'fresh' scents back in the days where bad in the longevity area..this one wasnt.
My problem with this scent is that many people in the later yrs worn this scent dead for me.. so i became to immune for its specialty and it became normal for my nose till now...maybe in a few yrs ill buy it again its a classic though...
L'Eau d'Issey one of my favorite scents.
Top notes are so strong, juicy and little bit sour. You may feel dominance of yuzi, lemon and bergamot.
To sum it; I mean, beginning is totally clean and fresh.
Heart notes are floral. But it is definitely not feminine. The most crucial point is here.
Bottom notes are woody and little bit sweet. Vetiver, sandalwood and cedar can be felt. These are riveting to longevity.
This scent is very popular in my country and there are many bad imitations :/
Nonetheless, I will continue to use this scent fondly..
Scent:8/10
Longevity: 7/10
I think this is one of the best long lasting fragrances that I have ever owend.
The way all the notes blend in together for a unexplainable plesuring aroma.
The drydown on this fragrance is just awasome.
If you are thinking about buying this fragrance, go ahead. Im going to spill one of my fragrance secrets...I use coco butter lotion with this and "bam" its just undiscribable.
Sad thing is that this cologne is so popular around the NYC area i just had to stop using it...I dislike smelling like the people I deal with on a almost daily basis.
to start with iam using tis frm past 9 years and hav finished around 15 bottles , now coming to the scent its excellent, longevity is the best cant beat , and a very fresh and pleasant perfume, sure to get compliments , but the biggest problem is it has b come highly common, i think that like chanel and dior issey should raise its price to more than 100 dollars to avoid everyone wearing and making it common.
Of course it is a nice fragrance.Great drydown. i used to have it but it is so popular and generic now i don't use it anymore.Great staying power and sillage.
Its a beautiful beautiful fragnance...Highly recommend....
I'm a 17 year old girl that has been sneaking to my dads dresser for years spraying this goodness all over me. It is AMAZING! I would so buy it if my friends couldn't tell the difference between masculine and feminine scents haha. I just adore this and always will. Any man wearing it will most likely get hassled by women on the streets lol
This is a true fantasy! .. My cousin had it back in the 90ies, and he used it like crazy! I adored this summery, Mediterraneany note to it.
Later, I was spending some time in Italy, where every single one of the guys in the streets smelled like this! I totally fell in love with this dryish, refreshing note that never seems to end. True male summer perfume, not too citrusy, not too woody, not too spicey .. it is so well blended! Unfortunately, it has been forgotten in the sea of the new and popular not perfumes, but watery liquids with no longevity or silage. I hardly ever have the chance to smell it, so I bought it for myself! Smells good on girls too..
It´s popular, overrated, whatever? Very well blended, opens with a intense yuzu and lemon, aquatic with the cypress but the coriander accompanies, that´s the time i get a little sick. After that, the heart comes with a nutmeg and cinnamon, calm down the opening, and turns it into a spicy aroma with a floral behind together, light. The base of vetiver and sandalwood ends so exquisite, and turns it into a woody aquatic fabulous.
highdef mm give this summer magic time and u will see how it will develop all its time long is lemon but all the shades of the finest lemon ever , refreshing an other SUMMER BEAST
whats all this issey melarky??
I just bought this today, way way way overated!!
I dont like the opening,
Pound for pound one of the best male fragrances in my opinion...Its very long lasting.
This cologne is hard to review in my opinion, I like it BUT i would only wear this in the house. Why? being 15 i feel this is almost too floral for me. Honestly if i wore this i would be asked if i am wearing perfume. I like the lemon and citrus but NOT the flowers. Its just like a flower shop on my skin.
I know i will get hated on for saying this but this is all i think of :L

amazing cologne
would i wear it though...... unfortunately not
Wore this to the hilt around the turn of the century, unfortunately did not take long for everyone else to hook on to this fantastic frag. Can't say I blame them, nothing else out their smells like this. It was my signature scent and it is in my top five frag of all time. With all that being said please understand that everybody and they Momma owns a bottle of this frag now, so uniqueness is out of the question.
Similar in popularity and eminence to Giorgio Armani’s Aqua Di Gio & Davidoff’s Cool Water. This Scent is Reassurance & Invigoration bundled in a Bottle.
Using Japanese citruses which explode and evoke a sense of tranquility in the opening notes is a complete master stroke! As we transcend to a complex drydown, a distinct floral yet masculine accord along with a myriad of sensual elements captivates our senses. It gradually trails away with a more pronounced musky woody base which lasts for eternity.
An ideal harmony of citrus & woody! Great Projection & Fantastic Sillage. Ideal for summer/spring season
truly an amazing scent with notes that are almost never used in perfumery yielding a very unique and different scent that really stands out from all of the other department store scents
It smells somewhat like aqua di gio and bellagio, but it has a much more complex drydown with sweet and sour and exotic notes and it is all put together better so I would strongly reccomend this scent.
Personally i smelled it at a store and did not quite like it due to the sour notes but ordered it online anyway and gave it a chance and i am SO glad i did. The entire scent has a lot of character and its an instant classic
I blind bought this perfume because I had seen a lot of good reviews, at first I just liked it, but slowly I began to fall in love with the smell.
Highly recommended.
I think I rock'd this fragrance after graduation round 2000. I loved it and couldn't get enough of it; however, EVERYONE ELSE loved it just as much because it became a bit of a "fad" cologne, trendy if I may... i realized this was a clean, fresh and long-lasting cologne, I just outgrew it. It's fun and fresh. My name is Mike and I APPROVE this review!
These days it smells harsher than when it was released. The drydown used to be very gentle and smooth, but nowadays the sharpness of the citrus/vetiver combination remains until the very end. I think they tampered with the citrus/spice balance. I miss more nutmeg and cinnamon, and even the soft musk in the drydown is lacking.
It is a sharp smell trying to look (or should I say, appear) interesting.
While most Anglo Saxons absolutely adore (or at least used to) this perfume, (I can see it working well with white skin, clean cut faces under a fresh, invigorating humid environment) I have to say that "Kenzo Homme" does a much better job in an even more dinstictive manner.
A note: the "noir absolut" version that came many years afterwards in my opinion is very close but better!
Nice, but a bit "tired" perfume. A lot of people wear it, as a "safe" and easy choice, but it still remains classical.
Sure, the initial blast of lemon off the top can overwhelm a bit, but you just have to wait mere moments before it begins to settle down and the spice, florals and woods start to emerge to balance things out. That is when you begin to understand the artistry that is L'Eau d'Issey. Calmly sexy, discretely masculine. It's not too sweet, not too fruity. It just smells damn good.
Highly synthetic ? Yes
Very commom ? Yes
Do people crap on this scent for no real reason ? Yes
If you wear this will women track you down ? HELL YES !!!!
This is good stuff and women seem to adore it
Honestly, I'd be happy if all guys smelled like this. I absolutely love this fragrance on a guy.
It's fresh and fruity thanks to the citrus notes as well as being masculine through its evolution into the woody scents that lie beneath the surface.
This is one of my favorite fragrances for a guy to wear, and it has a special kind of magnetism about it.
I used to date a guy who wore this...and I think that his choice of scent was part of the reason why I dated him! It's just so attractive.
It's one of those fragrances that starts off incredibly well and gets better and better with the drydown. Not to mention, the sillage is amazing on this scent.
Also, I don't think it's one that needs to be limited to any particular age group. Pretty much any guy can wear this.
A timeless, beautiful classic that I hope stays popular for many years to come.
At the first smell did not liked, but after 3 application I love it. 10/10
This doesn't come across aquatic to me at all, which is a relief as aquatic men's fragrances bore me. This sure is spicy, but a soft kind of spicy, I think this will really pop on a man's skin. Spices, woods and musk. More of these please!
This is a great fresh fragrance. in my opinion it is much better than Aqua di Gio. I have been complemented so many times from the smell. I guess im lucky that i live where nobody knows about this fragrance. Every time i tell them the name they look puzzled. However, the downside is that this fragrance changes from fresh to straight up musk in the end. The musk is there after 8 hours but its nothing fresh about it anymore. You would forget that u put on Issey when the day is done. And it does induce headaches in the beginning because it is really strong at the top. So always avoid more than one spray at the neck.
It's a decent fragrance for kids between the ages of 14 and 21, beyond that it's a waste of time. Add to that, everyone has been spraying this on themselves for the past 15 years. Although Curve is simple, I'd say it is a better scent than Issey.
Initial impressions (based on ONE spray, so these notes are mostly for my own use):
An aquatic with lots of citrus and some wood hiding in the basenotes.
Very sharp citrus opening which makes me think of cheap cleaning products. Gets better and the citrus becomes more manageable (akin to lemongrass perhaps). There seems to be some depth to it though (complexity with wooden notes) and it might have potential if I can shake the initial "Yes lemon" (used to clean dishes) associations, I would have to try it some more to make up my mind on this one because despite my reservations I do think it deserves it.
I love this fragrance! It is so complex and long lasting, flowery in some way, bit cooling in the summer, with a dominant tone of the traditional Japanese (traditonally blended) green tea (茶) at the beginning, which you probably will smell lingering during the whole developement of this aroma.
My nose (as for the one who lived one year in Japan and drunk a lot of 茶 :-)) recognizes and identifies this scent by it's green tea smell and than in the dry-down I get some flowery in it.
This cologne is brilliant, my go to guy that can be worn in all weather conditions due to having such impressive longevity (10 minimum every time)projection (massive but not "in your face" scent cloud). At first was put off by the harsh lemon opening but really does develop into a thing of beauty after 15mins. Very very good compliments from both men and women (probably the best). Although not very masculine if worn with confidence is perfect for any man.
NOTE: i live in england where temperatures are VERY mild and yet this is still a workhorse.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!SUPER DOPENESS IN A BOTTLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Can you review it better?? I think not!

I just love this scent so much. I cannot describe how gorgeous this perfum is. And last forever in your skin. Perfect.
Verdict: this is one of the best fragrances ever!! Opens up with a fantastic blend of citrus notes and that opening last forever and ever, thank goodness. After a few hours you sense the more floral notes and a nice masculine scent. When I tested this the first time I was worried that it may be too unisex or feminine but is without question a killer fragrance. The sillage and longevity are ridiculous. As you stroll through the Gardens, this is the perfect thing to wear on a bright sunny spring or summer day. Whether it's 60° or 90° outside you can never go wrong. To put this in the same category as Armani Acqui di Gio is blasphemy. If you like the Prada amber PH but are looking for something a little more citrusy rather than the wonderful blend of florals that it has to offer, this is your scent. Just be careful not to overdo it. Because the projection with the chemistry of my skin is not very good for most frags, I made the mistake of the first time applying it with three sprays on both sides of my neck. My fault! Classy, fresh, clean... and deserves all the high praise and compliments that you get when you wear it. It just makes you feel "happy" and you want to get outside and enjoy that day. Even if you put it on at 6 AM you still be getting some of the notes at dinnertime. I LOVE THIS!
Enough said? :-)
Super great one. Very clean and full of citrus. Amazing for summer and has great longevity.
This is such an awesome scent. I never wanted to like it at first just because of its popularity and I thought I would not like it because of its floral notes. But I simply cannot deny myself of this amazing scent, it takes me half way to heaven.
Among the other notes detected, it also has a 7up/Sprite feeling to it.
A masterpiece in my opinion, as it is with many.
Light, fresh, unique....timeless. Floral but remains masculine I think, and any real man would not be insecure to wear something like this.
Just brilliant. And the ladies love it so you can't go wrong.
A very nice summer/spring scent. A masterpiece in this genre where we almost always have the same boring fragrances.
Starts out with the Yuzu note giving a invigorating aroma around you, then passes over time, it settles down giving space to a mix of floral notes, making this a very comforting fragrance.
A Must try for everyone who wants to smell classy all day long, since it lasts almost forever on skin, and projects like a beast.
My boyfriend has this fragrance and it smells so good... It just makes me want to bite him! It is very fresh / aquatic /citrusy with a slight hint of spice that adds a nice kick to it. It is a very manly scent without being overpowering. I definitely recommend this one for guys! The ladies will love it on you ;)
Definitely one of the best colognes OUT THERE. An-an-AND if you think this is a good aquatic also THIS is a good aquatic!
I am so picky about cologne, it's ridiculous, makes it hard to find something to wear. So many things just smell like a variation of everything else. This one is different though, I smelled it on someone else, and have been wearing it ever since. I would like to have a few other fragrances to rotate in though. There was a men's fragrance by Lancome in the late 80's or early 90's that was incredibly awesome as well, but it stopped being available in the states. I think that it was simply called Homme, but I am not certain. I would love to lay my hands on that one again.
great one for a best friend wedding...will hide your alcohol breath...
Very synthetic to my nose.Couldn't stand it!
Give me headache and nausea.
It's citrusy herbal.
Longevity about 10 hours with good projection but dont be searching just for longevity for me it's terrible smell, terrible!
awesome....great and one hell of a cologne. overall i give 8/10
L'Eau d'Issey Miyake is a very particular smell very fresh and energizing, this peculiarity is due to a yuzu citrus fruit that gives its own touch to the original scent, then the cinnamon of Ceylon and other wood much sought after by flower lotus ingredients very valuable and refined. The perfume has a fragrance on herbaceous aquatic, have you ever tried to peel the stem of a rose, a lily or a magnolia? you will find almost grassy smell bitter and pungent odor reminds some of these shrubs this fragrance, Issey course is a masterpiece not just a hint to fully describe the flavor that I think comes close is Chevignon Best.
Rated +10
L'Eau d'Issey has been my summer staple for years and it has never let me down except the fact it's got a bit overused by everyone around me (the Aqua di Gio syndrome).
I'm no good at dissecting single notes in a perfume but can say this scent definitely evokes the images of cleanliness and simplicity and that's what I love it for.
It's salty-soury to my nose. I can't detect any sweet notes in it. Fortunately. I love to use it on a hot day right from the fridge where it belongs in the summer. Even the bottle resembles frozen glass.
It reminds me of the ocean, of the wind, of a crispy clean white shirt being blown by the wind at an ocean shore...
Smells a little bit like paper at the beggining that with citrus and wood...i tend to add one more spray at noon at my job, to enlighten up again...is very japanese art...simple but sharp and clean ideal for summer.
90/100
the cypress in this is very prominent and i don't like the smell of it .
A+ for all aspects of this fragrance. In warm weather this is an anytime, anywhere scent. Some will like it and some will love it but nobody will dislike smelling this on you. Can't go wrong with Issey. Plus it's not expensive. I bought mine at the red bullseye retailer.
Keep on rockin!
Issey Miyake, the memories come flooding back. It's fresh, yet almost floral, strong but subtle, it always reminds me of the perfect summer breeze on a deserted beach.
I still love the scent of this, one of my top 10. No, on second thoughts, easily top 5, but in saying that, I no longer wear it and I think it will take a lot for me to buy another bottle of it.
Why? Overkill. At some point of you life you're gonna realise that you know at least 10 other people that has either worn this or is still wearing it! But one thing it's popularity does show is that it is an top fragrance for men!
If you're buying this for this first time, it is an amazing fragrance, but as much as you will fall in love with it, sooner or later it will be a been there done that what next fragrance!
Damn how i am crazy about this scent
I tried so many scents but this one is different,
sexy, cool, nice, unique.
Ladies love it.
For every day, any time any where using.
Good for romantic nights.
silage 8/10
longevity 10/10, +6 hours
this one smell good.
A perfect combination of floral, citrus and woods that blends to create a unique long lasting fragrance for all seasons.
I used to wear this but I've found that this smells better on clothes
Spray it on your clothes the day of, and then throw your shirts in the dryer!
LOW HEAT!!!!lol
I am constantly told by sales assistants how much this fragrance is loved by the opposite sex, for me as a guy I have to say that the acidity of this fragrance (much like white wine for me) is a form of instant headache, in the way that only fragrances can do. Too astringent, too much like overdone citrus cleaner.
Oh My GOD...this is so damn sexy...the best perfume for man ever. Im wondering if it has some kind of feromonas...lol
JUST SEXYYYY
And the lasting power is just 5/5*
Good fragrance for summer days, long lasting and original. For me 8/10.
One of the best scents for extreme hot or cold weather. I don’t like wearing this one though if I am going to be in really closed quarters or close proximity to others as people tend to react to it. Either way, this is a failsafe cologne that smells different on everyone. The difference is usually a good difference.
Buy it!
My brother signature along with Sculpture pour Homme from Nikos
Papi, you're not the only one that has just stumbled upon this gem. I can't believe that this has been around since 1994 and I am just now discovering what an amazing fragrance it is.
Missk's review is spot on with my experience, but I don't really get much of the synthetic notes which have bothered a few here. Perhaps only because I have recently started wearing AdG again which is much more synthetic smelling (though I do like it!).
For me the opening is a citrus-dominant blast (a bit sharp at first) with definite floral and nutmeg undertones. The middle is where I get the truly aquatic notes and now, 12 hours later, there is a very mellow, woody vibe with just a little aquatic "hint" on top.
A great fragrance that I highly recommend to all - at least give it a test run and see how it works for you if you're just coming to this fragrance as I am!
Damn!
Am I the only one who first smelled it in 2011 ?!?!
Reminds me a bit of Kenzo's Power (2008).
Overall 8/10
The scent makes me sick. Seriously I cann't stand it on my skin, and the opening is horrible, but I guess the developing is not bad, and that's why it has millions of fans. I don't like it because a lot of people have it/it is old/the opening makes me sick/and it is insanely expensive. I should put it in hate category, but I don't just because i respect those who like it.
Love the body wash, but the cologne may be a little too much, you can wear the body wash anytime of year, but the cologne you only wear late spring/SUMMER/early,warm/ hot, rainy fall... that's the purpose of the body wash is to use it with the body wash you already have, or use it alone, to enhance the overall smell/ aura
L'Eau d'Issey Pour Homme is lovely and crisp. Issey Miyake is certainly the house to go to if fresh, citrusy or aquatic Summer scents are what you crave.
Scents like these are often what my male friends tend to always smell like. For this reason, crisp and clean scents put me at ease, however they don't entice me or turn me on. Which is a good thing.
The scent is a little predictable, however I really like it in its inoffensive and refreshing state. There's nothing nicer than a man that smells clean.
L'eau d'Issey Pour Homme opens with zesty citrus, mostly the bright, sparkly, yellow kind, with a subtle hint of garden herbs. As it develops further, the watery aspect becomes apparent with a slight sea water saltiness counteracting with the woodsy and somewhat bitter vetiver.
Some reviewers are saying that this composition is quite synthetic smelling. While I somewhat agree, being one that finds almost all aquatics quite chemical, L'eau d'Issey Pour Homme doesn't smell too much like a scientist's lab. The synthetic ingredients are only very light on, not nearly as harsh as some aquatic fragrances are.
The longevity is superb, if not the longest lasting masculine aquatic I've ever encountered. I can understand why this fragrance is so popular amongst the men during Summer and a particular favourite among the women.
Wore this tonight for the first time going to my girlfriend's house and she loved it and could not stop commenting on how good it smelled. Definitely put a smile on her face. ;-) Highly recommended.
Every time I smell this perfume I think I’m in Japanese garden or eastern Asian forests covered with green long bamboos!
It’s too fresh, aquatic and bizarrely bitter and sour. You'll shiver in spine if you smell it mornings!
It’s extremely herbal, peppery and fresh. Although it’s got four kind of strong citruses in the top, it doesn’t start with absolute citrus scent; cypress, lemon verbena and coriander play as well as citruses BUT its bitterness comes from yuzu.
In the second phase, the smell of citruses are still dominant and flowers appear; still fresh and cold but a little bit sweet. Its cedar sweetness appear in the dry down but you can smell it in the flash, not so recognizable.
It’s definitely a Japanese perfume, fresh, young, and velvety.
longevity 7/10
projection 10/10
scent 10/10
It is nice but over rated. Nothing special.
I got this as a gift from my brother when I was a teenager, my first cologne. I hated it so much and naively assumed that all colognes must smell just as bad, so this put me off using colognes for many years. It wasn't until I discovered Armani Code just a few years ago that I realised it's possible to find a cologne that I loved to wear.
So verdict on this, bad. I get citrus and a sharp unpleasant note that really puts me off.
Unique and very easily recognizable...yes, this scent is very popular and worn by many but I still find it very sexy on a man, and I know many women who feel the same. Especially yummy when worn by tall, dark and handsome corporate-types with their immaculate clean pressed shirts and ties. I wouldn't mind wearing it myself too, it really smells amazing...fresh, crisp, cool and refined. I think every man aged 25-35 should own a bottle, it's very versatile, likeable and is great for work or play...and ofcourse women love it :)
Tried this in the store today and it reminded me of the unisex CK fragrances (either One or Be). Gave me a very fresh silver summer vibe. Not bad at all, just not my taste.
6/10
this smells very asian lol thats how i describe it. if you wanna smell like a nice clean fresh asian person this is it haha.
A 10 hour flower bomb on your skin. Ew. Two sprays of this alleged "amazing summer scent" and I'm choked by the smell of a 70 year old woman's make up bag.
Thanks- but no thanks, I think I'll stick with my Allure Homme Sport.
many compliments when i'm wear this fragrance
this is my signature also..
I had this when I was 14 years old. I was so happy that everyday people complemented me saying that i smelled nice and i should go to a party or on a date instead of going to school smelling like that. Recently I bought a new bottle and now I wear it twice a week and never fail to get complements. I'm very satisfied with this perfume. Evergreen!
It's a fresh aquatic citric scent, but it's way too sharp and the sharpness stays for a long while. The Summer variations of this fragrance is a rather good alternative for those who can't tolerate the sharp notes of this scent.
I didn't like this at first, I found it odd and a lil intrusive. Funny thing, it grew on me. If you try it once and don't like it, try it a few more times. It's one of those scents that, if you allow it, it'll grow on you.
I get a heavy lemon waft in the open, that lasts about 5 minutes.
After that, he aromatic qualities of the actual citrus fruits themselves is a wonderful thing when formulated to bring out the flavor without the acidic sting, which is what I think has happened here, I get more of the flavor of the yuzu, blended with some cinnamon, cypress, vetiver and florals.
Used it when it first came out in 94 and loved it then last year in Brazil ran out of perfumes and saw this again in a store i said lets try again after that day finished two bottles and almost in the middle of the third one right now, i love it, simply one of the best fragrance at the moment, and the compliments dont stop, highly recommend it!!!!
It smells like some female's fragrance where some details of the formula have been changed to make it suitable for men. As if someone sticks two motorcycles together and then calls it a "car." Naah, that won't work.
What more could you ask for from a scent?
-Its long lasting and can be worn for anything!
-Great hit with the ladies for sure.
-You could use this ALL YEAR.
Dont let the aquatic theme fool you, this thing is an all rounder beast!
One of the best male colognes out there.
Well depends on individual taste,
This is one of the perfume I have regreted buying,
Its not masculine ,
And the overwhelming oriental smell,
It can smell like potpouri at times
I am a woman, but I used to wear this one. It's clean and airy. It reminds me of what it might be like to take a drive along the Sicilian coast with an extremely hot guy at the wheel.
I first tested LdIpH on my wrist, placed my skin directly in front of my nose and I almost felt dizzy! The first blast was a pungent citrus and when it mellowed down, it kinda reminded me of some annoying painkiller ointment my mom used. It was a bad start, and I became confused about all the praise.
And then it suddenly hit me, I was smelling it the wrong way! Stupid me. Because when I gave it a chance again, I sprayed it on my neck, chest and wrists. And like a strange surprise, my body gave off the most divine scent I've ever encountered. It was present but not too overbearing. I thought, "this must be what the hype is all about".
Subtle lemony opening. Woodsy-floral-masculine drydown. Average projection and longevity. I think I can wear it even at night. I really imagine myself glowing whenever I wear this scent - there is really something "holy" about it. This must be the scent of angels.
Bought this for my fiance because he said he liked it. Oh my god! Really seductive yet fresh. Could smell him for hours....mmmmmmm:)
A masterpiece in my opinion. Very sharp citrus, but with a woodsy vibe to it. Lasts a very long time on my skin and projects well. One of my top 5 fragrances and the only "fresh" fragrance in my top 10.
Due to good reviews and so much hype about this cologne, i rushed to the store and I finally got to test what it really smells like... I tried it twice... I was totally disappointed!!! People, you should never never believe most of the reviews. Try before you buy!!! People have diff't taste! This cologne is not my type. It's pure garbage!!!! There are better colognes than this one!!!
i dont know why people are impressed by citrus generic scents, this is sharp and cloying anyways masses r asses
man this fragrance is SO feminine. I sprayed this on PAPER and asked 4-5 girls my age(20-26) and they all said it smelled very good but like something a girl would wear, not a man. They all seemed to like the Acqua di gio for men
lovely smelling fragrance its the next one on my list of must-haves this season.
it does start off quite strong but mellows out into one of the best smelling scents ive sampled in a while.
3 thumbs up for this one lol
This is the biz, very fresh and with tones of lemons and limes, a taste of citrus. lots of comments from the ladies. stays on for ages ,yum yum
Hmmmmm A rather interesting frag.... Was extremely popular when it first came out. I dont think its the best but it sure is better than alot I have smelled in it's class. I have only brought 1 bottle of this in my life time & I dont think I will buy another unless it was given to me.. I will give it a neutral rating. Its not bad, nor is it all that great! Longevity is average on me.. Maybe 6 hours...
Well there is no season limit for this BIG DAD!!!! I wear this in summers, winters, fall etc... it is the king of the RING !!!! The Weather is now on very cold side in Hungary today, i wore it around 10am morning(just 4 puffs) now 5pm evening, and i still feel like fresh .Longevity and sillage are AWSOME of this BIG DADY , ahh cant say much !!! LOVE IT !!!
I would classify this as a woody/citrus. I used to own this but finished it. It's a very good fresh citrus with great longevity. But I prefer Monsieur Balmain now which has a great citrus/vetiver drydown.
I have about 70 different fragrances in my collection. This is one of my tops. A real Masterpiece. Of course I like the orginal version. As most of designer fragrances, when they come up with a new version they never achieve the success of the original formula.
This classic has ranked itself high with the likes of Fahrenheit and Polo. A very versatile multipurpose scent that can evoke whatever you intend. Contrary to what most people say, I find it heavy..sweetly heavy, and the drydown is heavenly.
The only reason I don't Love it, is that after an hour or so it becomes intoxicating for me. Feels so bad when you're in love with a scent but you'd rather prefer it on someone else...
Sillage : very good
Longevity : How far can you count ?
Feeling : vain, maybe
Feedback : no one compliments on LD now, it's mainstream.
I'm finding this to be quite the versatile cologne. That said...I tend to favor it as an ideal choice for the warmer months. But it does have a day/night curb side appeal.
Certainly not one that makes a statement, otheres do that better.
When sampled it scented favorably so I looked forward test drive it, but to date it has yet to impress. While I do like it something misses here.
It would appear that for some it lasts and for others it doesn't (and I'm in the latter group).
The citrus top notes are nice but I finding the woodsy dry down notes not as pronounced.
This is a fragrance that can be worn by all (as most should be) and I'm willing to re-visit this again.
This is one of my most favorite colognes for men. If you don't have a gf this scent will help you in your search in getting one. lol...It's a must buy!
My dad has this and I love it on him!!!
It has long lasting fragrance....no doubt about it...the woodsy notes and the citrus opening..works perfect...Classic ..from Issey Miyake..
hey lance greetings from puerto rico,u.s.a. you are totally correct on this scent, smells awesome, yet i only get maybe two hours on me.could be my body chemistry?.ciao.
Finally I got this amazing fragrance!
It smells great!!!
But I just dont know why it doesn't last long on me :( Im' so confuse because it lasts on everybody, never heard anyone complains about the longevity with this one, but compliments.
I'm sure it's not fake (I bought at Changi Airport in Singapore
And one more thing, my bottle package is white and grey, without a blue line like the picture above!
Anypne know about this?
A universal fragrance indeed!
This is the cologne that got me into the world of fragrances (collecting, sniffing, researching) and L'eau D'issey still stands out.
-A+ for projection and longevity.
-Can be worn anytime of the year.
-Dates, Work, Clubbing, Romantic, Night, Day. Issey's a great choice for any occasion.
Okay I need to shut up. I'm starting to sound like an infomercial.
Hi.
Again,a MESTERPIECE to MR CAVALLIER AND ISSEY MIYAKE.one of the best aquatic fragrance.it is a great composed citrus and woody smell.nothing heavy or feminine.
The top notes is usual with really strong citrus but...but wait because the middle/base notes are great.that makes you feel positive. This lovely aquatic with ACQUA DI GIO are the best aquatic in my collecction.
perfect for almost any occassion but i recommend for a young man in office and then intimate.indisputable suitable for hot weather.longevity?on my skin it is really EXCELLENT.
8/10
This is really a quality perfume. One will not be disappointed after buying this.
Has perfect balance of sweet n fresh aroma.
Great composition from the house of Issey Miyake
if i say um happy wearing this masculine fragrance, um not far ! :)
the most perfect youth cologne ever came!
LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT! 5 year ago yet now on i do luve it, it ws my boyfriend fragrance for 3 years ,so it bring me all good days back !
so fresh, clean, playful, tender and masculine scent, very sexy and attractive the moment u spray it u go with a fiizzz aura along with bergamot, lemon. A middle note is spicy and woody yet aquatic .dry down intense woody scent which is sharp and enriched with tobacco, sandalwood, cedar, vetiver and musk.
if i have to select an opposit sex fragrance to wear it will be L'eau d'issey pour homme gladly
can't say im a big fan of this one, i wore it to work one day and for during the whole day i could feel and smell it just interupting everyone else, I dont really find it fresh smelling, it just smells like wood lol. Although when i do wear it im addicted to smelling it even though its not the best smelling...its addictive
i was given a .5 oz of this when shopping for perfume. So i use it even if its for men, as a base to make my sweeter perfumes less sweet.
i like it but its not super special. smells like many "clean" scents for men.
I feel I'm not completely dressed up without this perfume.. it smells really, really good and my mood lightens up whenever I smell it...
This is a scent that will always be in my wardrobe, and with this i have said it all.
Sillage (thumbs up)
Longevity (thumbs up)
Compliments (thumbs up)
Wearing [all year around (it's best in summer)]
I love it instant classic and women go crazy for this one old ,young, pretty, ugly they love it and they will let you know it so if u like attention and compliments this is a must have.
This wass absolutely my favorite fragrance ever! Spray 3-4 sprays, and you will last all day, good for wearing with casual, or with the dress up. Lasts all day without being offensive. But Still I suggest you try before you buy.
L'Eau D'Issey is one of the most sophisticated EDTs I have come across in a while. Its Floral in a very masculine way (I don't know how Miyake pulled that on off...but he did !)It starts off strongly with the Yuzu and other fresh ingredients on the top notes. Its longevity is really interesting - When first applied L'Eau D'Issey's projection is very strong but as time passes by it mellows down and the base notes cling onto you very closely but still distinctly present to people around you ( I guess the Haitian Vetiver is to blame for that!) .The base notes can last on your skin for a good 16-24 hrs and on your clothes....forever in my observation.
Its as though L'Eau D'Issey evolves into a more personal fragrance as the day goes by.This is the kind of perfume you at times want to wear when alone at home just that you don't share its wonderful fragrance with anyone. Its been around for a good 13 years now and grown quite common BUT is still a very very personal favorite.
Viva Miyake...!!!
A modern classic, similar in class and distinction as "Aqua di Gio"...yet far more woody and behaves less predictable than "Gio".
Love the whole play with the wooden notes and the watery floral notes...however, I think the "Lilly of the valley" extract gives me a headache sometimes, so I use it less frequently these days.
This is one of the best classic summer fragrances along with "Gio", "Aqua di Parma", "Essenza di Zegna", "Cool Water", "Kenzo", "Armani p.h." and Dior's "Eau Sauvage".
CLASSIC!
I loved this....just finished ANOTHER bottle of this, but SADLY...I have to sit out for a while on this....to really figure out what Im missing
Got tired of this one very fast. It is simple too intrusive for me. The medium/late citrus and peony notes are as overpowering as they are synthetic.
L'Eau d'Issey pou Homme is one of my most favorite fragrances of all time. It's one of the best scents ever made & is a true classic.
This is the fragrance that I received the most compliments from women. I remember one of the compliments, which from the garage at the ground floor of my ex-girlfriend's apartment, the room mates of my ex-girlfriend all the way up the third floor of the apartment were able to smell the scent & were all praises with its desirable fragrance. It's a scent that you can be smell the fragrance even from a reasonably far away distance, the farthest reaching scent IMO.
Though so many variants were made by Issey Miyake from this scent, nothing can really replace the original. In which Miyake keeping on this trend of making variants from this scent, I think is distasteful to do IMO, with them trying to capitalize from it's success. Only a few can pass acceptable enough as a twist of the original, while the most of the variants are undesirable.
Es uno de mis fragancias masculinas favoritas. Es ligero, pero sofisticado. Puede usarse en ocasiones muy especiales nocturnas o diurnas.
Muy costoso.
love to smell the top of the bottle this stuffs amazing probably the ABSOLUTE BEST mens scent just dosent last long though
The best scent ever. Well-crafted, unique and suitable for day and night. Not to mention sillage and longevity. onde of the best amongst my 40 bottles!I've worn it for over 10 years now and can't get tired of it!
Yozo is the key word for this nice & pure scent. I do love it :)
The dry down. This fragrance is all about the dry down.
It opens with a fresh, strong, lemon type scent. I find the opening to be truly deceptive of what the fragrance becomes. The strong opening eventually smoothes out to a divine aroma. Hypnotic in all its glory, maybe the best dry down of any aquatic.
My favourite time to wear LÉau dÍssey is on a hot summers night. Sitting on my balcony, sipping an ice cold drink. Imaginíng the little goblins trying to steal the moonlight..... “Hey you tiny thieves! That moonlight belongs to everyone! Only take a little bit!!”
First off....Im always giving short sweet answers without going into depth...I apologize, if there need be any apology...
When I first spray this on, it's a very sharp/bitter sweet type opening, and it's very citrusy/fruity like starting the day during the summer in the islands/tropics smells like the colors of yellow light/baby blue, orange, light green, turquoise, clear, white, then later on in the day it starts to become woody/aromatic, the colors of green, warm gold, fresh running amber/sap, orange, tan, light brown, then finally the dry down..),the colors of silver/platinum, grey, steel, dark blue/navy, off white, white, very sweet and spicy, but nice..
I admire the complexity of this scent. It has a tingling sensation to your nose which makes you want to smell it again and again...
I'm a woman and I use this. It's just so lovely and fresh. I love the smell and it lasts really long... I think it's unisex. No one recognizes that it's a male scent unless someone is familiar with this perfume.
the only aquatic that has good longevity and silage on me
i love the ginger, spices and its fresh and spicy and the musk base is GREAT in this one MUSK IS FOR DEER and the woodsy matrix and florals really are unique and this is a complex scent i can NEVER understand
bottom line if u are a smoker this is 4 u and all of the creed wearin hip hop artists LOVE this stuff
this fragrance is suitable for people live in tropic.
hope it stays warm so i can keep wearing this wonderful stuff but i got better ones in the winter
like ive always said this will always be a great classic option and its really a phenomenal scent women LOVE. perry ellis 360 red is better than aqua di gio with spices it lacks, but this takes it to a whole NEW LEVEL and totally outdoes everything else and people have said its common, i have NEVER HEARD OF ANYONE who even knows of this stuff or le male so i strongly urge anyone here to buy it u will thank me tomorrow
who else can take all these weird strange notes and make such a great scent this is a work of art
i just love smelling this on my man.i can't get enough of it.it's just divine!
Very nice oriental fragrance. Makes you feel sophisticated, relaxed, and confident. I prefer this over acqua di gio.
i think im just allergic to vetiver note :(
all frags which i dont like, have vetiver in them.
my hubby has this, and he adores this, meanwhile to me, smells like he wears plutonium; very effective to toss me away
:X
so it's maybe just me. my nose hates vetiver..D:
I think this is an amazing cologne suitable mostly for warmer weather and casual use. Would never say it smells cheap and soapy. The most interesting thing I found about this scent is that it's very versatile, changes a lot within the first hour after spraying, smells very good even if you spray it on clothes, or around the collar after spraying it on your neck. Interestingly enough, to my taste it smells extra good when it mixes with cigarette smoke from around :)
Sea + woods + subtle hints of flowers and fruit. It's a perfect mix of sweet, spicy and, yes, salty.
I highly recommend you check it out.
Issey Miyake's best fragrance!! I'm a huge huge huge fan of all Issey Miyake fragrances but L'eau D'Issey is my favourite.. The person wearing the fragrance may not be able to smell it on himself but i guarantee you that it is there, i was complimented on it a good 12 hours after application, your nose may get used to it after a while.. this fragrance is also one that most ladies will love.. A fragrance with awesome longevity and sillage which is still light and inoffensive. A real masterpiece.
I usually hate citrusy fragrances, but this one is perfect! I just believe that it's a shame that it's so famous nowadays, losing a little bit of its huge uniqueness. I fell in love with it when first smelt this and even followed people wearing this. Great sillage and longevity, it's worth the price. Really remarkable and smells classy/expensive.
trully unique fragrance! I havent heard EVER anyone who doesnt like this Issey Miyake's perfume...If you wear it, you are sure you wear one of the best... ;-
)
is a cassic fragrance ,good sillage and longevity ,a sexy scent lots of compliment.everybody around you will set this is a sexy man.is perfect. for special date
Though it is citrusy,to me it feels like a very expensive-smelling perfume. It's suitable for summer, perfect for this hot days.
It is too citrusy for my tastes at the beggining, but it becomes so pleasant at the drydown!
Even on my skin,it smells very nice,it is extremely sexy and pleasant.
My man wears this and it really is a lovely smell. You know the smell anywhere!!
Mmm. This is such a sexy scent! Wow! I actually followed a man around a store to breathe it in! Fresh, citrusy, sharp & like a bracing ocean breeze - ozone-rich - rich & woody at the base & very, very distinctive. I can smell it a mile away - the most gorgeous scent for gorgeous, fabulous men. Having said this, I have also bought this & worn it myself...& I'm all woman. Very versatile. No1 for men...weak at the knees :)
I think it is a very well made perfume, specially to wear during the hottest months of the year, I also belive it is a perfume to be worn during the day, not suitable for special or elegant occations in the evening. It is very fresh. I think it is too fruity to be an elegant perfume, but is good if you are looking for something refreshing.
this is pretty good fresh light scent but EVERYONE WEAR DIS type of scent like acqu di gio, light blue D&G, and all of the ozone/citrus/musk or wood bases but it is good 4 summa weather
I am a woman and I wear this too on a regular day at work. There is a slight sour breeze in the middle for me, but overall, it is very well-made.
I love this one!!
so clean! perfect!
Although I was not overly excited by my initial impression of the notes in this fragrance, the compliments I received changed that. This is a light and lasting fragrance that distills a freshness at the end of a long day.
Vetiver, green notes and woods make for a very nice men's scent. Last absolutely forever.
This is a beautiful fragrance. Its freshness is so inviting.
If I encounter it in the street, I follow the person that has it on. It is sharp, imposing, very masculine
Citruses and woods that clash and then find a harmony. This fragrance has a unique story. The composer really came up with something original.
I find fragrances introduced before 2000s outdated nowadays, but this an exception. I can still wear this in the spring. It lasts 8+ hours.
Like a good pirate, that kidnappes you into this magical world of space, freedom and clam.
All around sexy. Anytime.....Anywhere
After almost 60 kind of fragrances i've used past years (and my chanel editon blanche is almost finish) i bought this classic and evergreen fragrance
This is absolutely my favorite fragrance ever! Spray 3-4 sprays, and you will last all day, good for wearing with casual, or with the dress up. Lasts all day without being offensive. But Still I suggest you try before you buy.
One of the very few colognes I have ever worn that actually had a complete stranger (female) ask me what I was wearing -- in a very positive manner! I couldn't even smell it on me at all!
Both afraafra and mariotgomez are right. The opening is very sharp, and a little goes a long way (the atomizer sprays way too much). This is in my top 2 favs., the other being Gucci Nobile. I have received more compliments with this cologne than any other in the past 30 years of buying cologne. I've been buying and loving this fragrance since 1994. The majority of women that compliment me know it's Issey Miyake and just love it. And I thought it was my little secret. heheh
The opening is very sharp citrus , not to everyones liking I think, good sillage and longevity and great drydown but the opening...
This is a nice, long wearing fragrance. I enjoy the woodsy notes with the citrus undertones.
