Jacomo for Her Fragrance Reviews

I've given the house of Jacomo a few tries, always in the hopes that it might prove to be as bizarre yet worthy as that of Balmain, which for some inscrutable reason offers bona fide perfumes at bargain bin prices. In fact, with each Jacomo encounter, my hopes have been dashed, and JACOMO FOR HER is no exception to the rule. This mild, muddy floriental with a relatively declarative patchouli note does not commit the sin of sour synthetic sandalwood perfumes, nor is it too sweet. The lily-of-the-valley note, too, is not the horrific one found in Coty's ghastly reformulation of MUGUET DES BOIS.

Instead, the problem I find with JACOMO FOR HER is that it is simply too vague, the same problem I have with PARADOX, which I've tried to like but in the end feel is, again, simply too foggy for my tastes. I prefer crisp clean lines or thick assertive orientals, and with the creations of the house of Jacomo, I always feel that the presentation of even notes that I usually love has been muted somehow. This smells to me how even a fine perfume might seem to someone who is totally zoned out on sedatives. JACOMO FOR HER is certainly wearable enough, but it's not a creation that I'd reach for before, say, dozens—or even hundreds—of other perfumes. I just find it too wishy washy, in the end. Désolée.

Cheap smelling patchouli, patchouli, plastic doll skin, patchouli.

That's about it.

Update: Why is it the stonkers are the ones that seem to last forever? I can smell this one on clothes 2,3,4 days later! Blech!

I found a tester of this dirt cheap from a certain monkey that sells perfumes online (ahem) and based on the reviews I read here ordered it...so I open the UPS box when it arrives at work like a kid at Christmas...I spray it and was...confused. Did I like it? Did I not? I didn't know. So I put some on and wore it around a bit and I can now say that I DO like it. It actually reminds me a wee bit of SJP's Lovely in a way. At least initially. This mellows a bit the longer you wear it. Overall I dig it. And the sillage is awesome IMHO.

Jacomo's For Her is the fragrance which underlines femininity and tenderness. At first the smell seems quite noticeable and a little bit sharp. But with the time it becomes very tender. I like that fragrance very much, although I am not very faithful to one fragrance. Still looking for MY smell.... :))))

Based on the recommendations here, I ordered a sample, and was very pleasantly surprised! I normally stay away from anything floral or sweet, and seem permanently arrested fragrance-wise, in the 70s green scents. This is a floral I could live with; oddly enough, it reminds me of my Mom's Mary Chess cologne - probably Tapestry, for the muguet de bois. Thanks, ladies, for the tip - I'll be getting a full-size bottle soon.

I would never, ever, consider this to be a skin scent. It is a bit cloying, and not very natural or warm smelling at all. With that said, I do like it okay. It has its time and its place. Whenever I wear it, I do get compliments and although my instinct to wear this in the cold weather months is strong, I find it to be best during the warmer months...late spring to be exact. In June, I tend to wear it as its a celebratory time for me--summer coming on and work temporarily coming to an end...and that is when it is softest and most noticeable in the best of ways. Interesting perfume. Stays on the skin forever, too.

Regarding sillage, I disagree completely with gypsy parfumista. I find the sillage VERY good, if not excellent. The other day one of my co-workers ran into me on another floor of our building and told me she'd just left my office and it smelled "wonderful" in there. I hadn't been at my desk for at least 20 minutes prior, so I'm pretty sure the sillage is good. And I apply perfume sparingly, always concerned that my scent not precede me into a room, especially at work.

Jacomo for her is springlike and very pretty. (Weegee: I detect no plastic in this either. Mom loves it, thanks!) :-)

The top of fresh bergamot and clear green muguet is sheerly verdant without any bitter foliage or vegetal notes. The hyacinth, one of my favorite spring florals, is very noticable. Slightly fruity and floral fresh, it makes me long for the spring breezes and some sunshine (so absent here, lately, in early winter). The body of this lady is simply beautiful with its rose and ylang and heliotropes. All three are sexy and sensual, yet not cloying or too "perfumey". Sexy without trying to seduce you, JFH is a pleasure. The drydown, despite all the notes listed, is only slightly woody and softly warm. Patchouli and oakmoss give it an earthy chypricity (I've decided that IS a word!) that makes it great for any time of the year; warm enough for cool days and floral and bright enough for warmer days. Not something I personally would wear, but nice enough and on the right chemistry: stunning!

Sillage: okay
Longevity: decent
Overall: 3.25/5

Do not let its somewhat mediocre marks make you overlook this! It really does smell nice. If you are a fan of chypre florals, that are not overpowering or in your face, this is a good choice. To me though, it is nothing to "write home" about but still quite charming. Good for a lady who is modern but elegant, no matter what her age! This is the olfactory equivalent of a warm embrace and loving kiss...without the longing glance and sensual caress.

Addendum to my review below:

The more I wear this scent, the more I love it. And the kicker is that my best friend, who is a real tough customer and always gives me her honest opinion about everything (clothes, perfume, home decor, etc) has commented several times now that she likes this fragrance. I think we have a winner!

Softly woody, with only a hint of floral sweetness (which is good). NebraskaLovesScent said it best - that it "opens with cedar and crisp, clean flowers" (her excellent description helped me decide to blind-purchase this) and it quickily softens into something elegant, feminine and creamy. I get slightly sharper notes when I put my wrist to my nose and sniff, but they aren't too sharp. If you like woody stuff, but find much of the bigger names come on way too strong, you might like Jacomo for Her.

I am a bona fide green floral gal trying to bust out of my comfort zone, and this scent is helping me do that. I love it!

I tested it today and I think they should change its name to "Jacomo for him".

It's so heavy, cloying and definitely masculine: Vetiver, Cedar and Patchouli of the base notes....

Not for me !

Jacomo for Her may be the best of the recent bunch of Jacomo samples I have tried. It's a beautiful, complex rose chypre available for a great price.

Jacomo for Her opens with cedar and crisp, clean flowers. I get pronounced cedar and rose notes throughout the fragrance, which evolves through the flowers to a typical chypre base. It's dry, woody and not really sweet. Whispers of Cabaret and a less-honeyed Diva are drawing me in. It also has more than a few things in common with Guerlain's Idylle (but lasts longer than this one) as well as Avon Urban Flowers New York. Idylle opens a little sweeter but the dry-downs of these two are similar.

This one is quite different from the other Jacomo scents I have tried. If you told me this one was from 1985 instead of 2005, I wouldn't bat an eyelash. It's old school in the best possible way! If you enjoy chypre floral scents, Jacomo for Her is an affordable gem that's worth a try.

This is a fantastic perfume! I just received it from a swap with my true friend NathalieZ and she thought it really would be my style. And she was surely right about that! I must tell you, those Jacomo people really know how to make perfume!!!

The very first notes remind me a little on Narciso Rodrigez for Her, but very quickly this perfume becomes a bold, beautiful and rather dominant chypre, and a little bit more reminiscent to Comme une Evidence by Yeves Rocher. But Jacomo for Her is more refined, more complex and really sensual, overly feminine! It's a very modern, well-balanced chypre for romantic women but with a strong character.

I read numerous reviews on many frangrance sites about this one. I love skin scents and the way they warm over time and sort of blend with your overall body chemistry. I purchased this for a song from Scented Monkey and it arrived today. The large tester bottle is beautiful, solid, and clear, revealing the juice inside. I sprayed it on and walked into my bedroom to put it on the vanity because I knew instantly, this was a keeper. My daughter yelled in, "Mom, that smells really good." Yes, honey. I have trained your little nose well! To me, it smells very "French" but not skanky or loud at all...Just rich and luxorious. There is a retro appeal that I love about it...Maybe this could be the chyphre that I seem to gravitate to so much. Lots of flowers, perfect for spring. A new favorite.

This is my first experience with a skin scent, so I am learning from it. So far I learned that a skin scent is something which is going to lay low and pretend a bit like it is just your natural body aroma. I like the concept. When I sweat at my yoga classes now, I swear amber, heliotrope and other yummies. In other words, it is quiet, but lovely and complex on me. Just what I needed! Jacomo for Her is feminine, sexy and sweet just enough. I sometimes smell incense or tobacco in it; at other times, flowers. Great staying power!

Yesterday I tried it and was disappointed. At the beginning is too chypre, the drydown smells like a hospital. For those who like chypre floral perfums-it has a long lasting power.
