Jean Patou Chaldee is a classic oriental feminine fragrance, launched in 1927. Henri Almeras is the perfumer of the composition. The bottle was designed byby Louis Sue and later adapted by the famous Pierre Dinand.
Top notes: orange blossom and hyacinth. Heart: jasmine, lilac and narcissus. Base: opoponax, amber and vanilla.

A sweetly sheer, benzoin-like resin note runs throughout this velvety, salty, amber blend, with an oily hyacinth burst at its center, giving "Chaldee" a bittersweet freshness. As "Chaldee" warms, it takes on an orange blossom sweetness with a hint of musk, reminding me of hot skin in the sunshine that's been rubbed-down with high-end suncreen or tanning oil, while the scent of natural fiber heated by the sun, lingers in the background.
"Chaldee" smells voluptuous and languid, highly sensual and sporty, with a tart richness that hints at sweet leather, steamy but clean "sporting whites" and solar energy. "Chaldee" is like a 1930's travel poster in a bottle. It's glossy, tan skin, white cotton, teak boat decks, sun and sand, all set against the stylized image of a big, "Art Deco" style, golden sunburst. It's lovely.
