fancy vs fantasy... that is what I've been debating for years... two fragrances I can love and hate... one moment I love fantasy more the next I'm all about fancy... well they are both very very dessert sweet which is a plus in my book. fantasy is more tart with fruit vs fancy is more creamy sweet due to the carmel and vanilla and toasted almonds. I sprayed one on each wrist and fantasy is more light and sweet vs fancy is still going strong is is very nice. I like the way fantasy starts out but the dry down isnt as sweet, I hate fancy when I first spray it but love the beautiful dry down over fantasy. They are both great scents so I cant choose which one I like more so it's a tie! lol I do think fancy last alot longer than fantasy. They both draw people in and compliments are thrown at you! I do find I get more with fancy by jessica tho.
I really love this perfume! It lasts a REALLY long time and it is very cozy especially for the winter. Now all I have to do is get me a boo to cuddle with this winter while wearing this scent! :)
I got this today after using this site to look for sweet smelling perfumes. The reviews sounded like i would love it and i really do! I'm a sucker for celebrity fragrances, they often have that super sweet smell that i love and this one takes the CAKE. Yes cake. This perfume reminds me of cake and powder. Its not quite a baby powder, but more like the cashmir bouquet powders that my aunt used to give me when i was a girl. It was slightly fruity at first with a hint of spice but it dried down quickly and then came the best part. For me its quite hard to describe, although its definitely sweet in a gourmand way i cant put my finger on the smell, i hear people say vanilla and caramel but it really seems something else. Cake is about as close as i can come, the whipped cream laden birthday cakes that are so rich you can barely finish one slice. The longevity is also quite good, i was woken by the delivery man bringing me this package and i sprayed it on soon after my shower and was sniffing my wrist all day long! When i picked up the kids from school in the afternoon they said i smelled like cupcakes. I think this might just have become my favourite perfume.
Smelled it today honestly I can see myself wearing this. Perfumes in general aren't "girly". Young girls shouldn't be wearing perfume anyway. However, to any girly girls out there I recommend Escada Hippie they have a signature scent to them whereas Fancy smells as good as body spray after a long day at the beach.
I smelled this perfume at macys when i was with my grandma and i loved it so she bought it for me but i found that i only really like it, not love . It smells super sweet which i like but the only thing is that its very strong (almost "old lady" like) and kinda fake like cheap perfume when you first spray it and it takes a long time to dry down, that part i hate but after it smells great . nice sweet, strong enough to detect but not to irritate. i LOVE the vanilla in it once it dries down
I have Fancy on one arm, Hypnotic Poison on the other, so I smell like a vanilla factory in the very best way.:) All I can do is alternate between the two, marveling at two completely different vanilla scents, loving them both but in different ways.
Fancy is on my to-buy list for sure. I love the caramel vanilla, and I'm happy that I can also pick out the jasmine. It's a soft, dreamy scent, delicious and comforting. A great scent for fall/winter. The first word that popped into my head with Fancy was "cozy."
OH my. I am ashamed of my 6yr old brain taking over.
I was shopping for a new fragrance, this woman walked by smelling fabulous. I asked her what it was and promptly ordered it and Fancy Love.
Well, needless to say, it didn't smell the same. In fact, I couldn't attract anything but bees in the garden.
So, those two are off to the swap meet.
I think this is the best Jessica's perfume. It's yummy, sweet, very sweet, (maybe too sweet). I love its long lasting, but makes me feel headache sometime, i will not wear it during a sunny day. Anyway, it's a good fragrance. beautiful bottle and affordable.
I bought a sample of this perfume from KMart and I really dont like it.all I smell is pear and the dry down smells like pickles on me. I was looking for a nice sweet vanilla perfume and this is not it! Im glad I didnt buy the set BC I would have been very upset. The bottle is beautiful but the scent is not lol.
I really don't know what to do with this scent.
Untutored, and inexperienced with fragrances, I first tried this several years ago and I experienced a chemical blast so obnoxious and disgusting my nose clogged up. I didn't understand how on earth people could spray themselves with this and call it perfume let alone "yummy" or "caramel." It smelled like death by chemicals.
Fast forward a couple years and I kept hearing the words "sweet," "caramel," "vanilla," "dessert" associated with this scent. What was going on? I just didn't get it. So I bit the bullet and purchased a huge bottle of this out of curiosity. Makes no sense, I know, but it was cheap so I figured if I was going to waste the money I might as well go all in.
Well, I still got the chemicals, but this time the chemicals had more of a shape to them. Overly ripe pears and intense sweetness. Not natural by any stretch of the imagination, but yes its got all the sweet bits. The more I came back to the scent the more I could discern the sweet notes everyone raves about. And it actually grew "pretty" and "feminine" to my nose.
Maybe this is a prime example of group mentality, peer pressure, or the power of suggestion because I would have never looked twice at this scent if not for the many reviews and suggestions. I still never wear this, so my huge bottle is practically full, but I keep thinking to myself that one day I might. One day I might...
I could not scrub this off fast enough! I know enough to allow perfume some dry-down time but even if this perfume dried down to the perfect scent, that initial blast of crap was NOT worth it.
But I thought, why not? Might as well let it dry down or else I will wonder. Well, my patience finally rewarded me with something other than that synthetic sugary mess. Yep, now I got cat urine.
So would I buy a bottle for an initial nauseating blast that dries down to an offensive ammonia? No, thank you, I'll pass...
I really enjoyed Fancy. It's definitely a sweet, carmel scent, but what I really like about it is the longevity.I have been having difficulty finding a scent that lasts through a workday, and I found one with fancy. The sillage is great too,it projects well, but does not knock everyone out.The sweetness isn't cloying,I found it very comforting, like a sweet vanilla/caramel blanket.Very feminine and quite lovely. The drydown is wonderful,it doesn't lose any of it sweetness, but settles in nicely,I find myself sniffing my wrists, and smiling. So warm and inviting. This one will definitely be a keeper, and perhaps a permanent member of my fragrance family! Highly recommend if you love sweet, vanilla caramel with excellent sillage and staying power! 10/10
I did not find it very fruity at all, just a bit of apricots, and I think that added to the warmth, with the touch of wood and amber.just a very sweet, comforting scent.I did wear this on a warm night,in the low 70's,but in an air conditioned kitchen. Not sure if I would wear it if it was much hotter. Will definitely re-try this when it's cold, and it does get very cold here.Still,I think it would be great in any season, but with a lighter touch in the heat.
So, here's my second review for this one. I've been reaching for Fancy everyday it seems! It may not be as vanilla as I wanted it to be, but it's so tooth achingly sweet! I quite love it now actually! Yes, it's fruity, but such a sweet fruity that makes it gourmand.. Like a fruit pie! It really works well on my skin-- for the price, ill keep buying this! Little tip: spray this in wet hair and then blow dry.. It smells very vanilla that way, and you can smell it wafting around you all day! I'm pleasantly surprised by fancy after all:)
Omg! I'm in love with this fragrance! At first it's very berry.. There was something I didn't like about it when I first sprayed it. But the dry down is delicious! It reminds me of an eclair! It smells delicious! I wish I discovered this sooner. I bought the 1.7oz bottle and it came with a 3oz lotion as well. I'm definately gonna purchase the full size bottle! This just won my heart. <3
Very sweet and syrupy fruits, mixed with caramel and a hint of vanilla. It reminded me a bit of red berries marmelade. I also think I got a hint of patchouli, even though it is not listed in the notes. A nice gourmand suitable to young girls, but more 'mature' than Pink Sugar. Now to try Fancy Love!
For the first hour or so, this is positively yummy. The caramel and vanilla come through in particular. A few hours later, it's not bad - smells like vanilla icecream in a waffle cone. I just don't think I want to smell like an ice cream shop, as much as I love going to them. It also doesn't seem to meld with my skin. It's probably for the best. Meow is my go-to gourmand, and Fantasy and Princess are greatly appealing, as well. I really do like the smell, though. Just seems better suited for a place than a person.
I used to love this. I have the big 100ml bottle and it's not even half used and I've had this for about 2 years now! It doesn't last as long on my skin anymore, maybe my perfume went 'off' quick? I don't know. I find this too cloying for me now. :(
The reviews and notes for fancy has deceived me. Everyone else is saying its such a beautiful gourmand- supposedly very vanilly. I even read that it's smells like cupcakes. I'm not getting that at all ;( The vanilla, caramel, and amber notes is what made me curious to buy, that and the good reviews . I'm not saying I don't like it cause it's ok.. I wear it.. But it's nothing how I imagined it would be and I don't find it to be gourmand at all. All I'm really getting in fancy is fruits.. Definitely smelling berries, apricot and hints of caramel and that is an interesting combo. but the caramel is more like a caramel apple smell to me. All I really wear are sweet vanilla foody scents, so I can't detect the notes very well. It just smells very fruity to me. Dry down is much nicer. The caramel develops even more, also it becomes more rich and nutty. I sometimes get small whiffs of vanilla after 30 min or so, and I'm wondering , is that me? And I realize it is the fancy giving off the vanilla wafts. But it's not often when that happens. And I don't get any amber, sadly. It is very sweet still, and is fruity powdery caramel at dry down. I guess I'm just disappointed as I read so many reviews saying how vanilly this is, and I'm not getting that at all:( I've been wearing "L" lolita lempicka everyday to work before I got fancy.. And never got compliments. Now with Fancy, 3 guys at work said "someone smells really good!" So I am def getting compliments on this one. That's why I wear it mostly. As for longevity and sillage-- it's a sillage monster and it lasts all day on me! It does not stay close to skin, and I like that aspect of it. I still smell it from yesterday. So there's pros and cons on this. It does develop very nicely-- it's always changing on my skin-so all in all, it is a good composition and smells good. It's different from anything I have, so it's a nice addition to my collection, especially for the price. But it's not a true gourmand to my nose. So for ppl about to make my same mistake..Be prepared for a whole lot of fruity.. It's not as vanilla sweet as you'd think!
Why has it taken me so long to love this?? The drydown is like chocolate eclairs!!
Well worth the wait.
Lovely fragrance, sweet but not sickening sweet. I smell vanilla & amber. Very inexspensive.
Lovely fragrance, sweet but not sickening sweet. I smell vanilla & amber. Very inexspensive.
I was surprised by this scent as well. It was really very, very nice. I liked the obvious caramel, which is something I have searched for. I love wearing this scent.
Saw this at Ross and got it because so many people seem to love it. I'm glad so many reviewers said to wait for the drydown before really judging it because holy crap is this sweet and sticky at first spray! When it first hit my skin I almost went into diabetic shock. It was like chugging an entire jar of caramel ice cream topping with the expected gagging one would do. Now that it has had time to behave itself, it's better.I'm getting vanilla and caramel, but it's still kind of a bit too sweet. Maybe I'm still getting over the initial shock. This scent seems to follow me around and waft up pretty strongly. This one I'll have to think about, if after a few more try's I don't love it, my 10 year old daughter will be getting a new perfume.
Edit day 2: There is something about this that rubs me the wrong way. I spayed it on a piece of fabric in the other room and every time I walk by I can smell it filling up the whole room. Even when I am nowhere near that room I can smell quick wafts of it, almost like it's following me around like a ghost. I have never experienced a perfume so strong- even Poison was subtle compared to this. Also there is something about this that is annoying me, like one note constantly being banged out that drives you nuts. Maybe I'm experiencing this at the wrong time. I'll put it away and try it again in the fall.
I ordered this perfume because it seems to get mentioned anytime “gourmand” or “caramel” is mentioned in perfumes. Everyone talks about how surprisingly nice it is for an affordable celebrity frag. I ordered it for extremely cheap on Amazon. I am wearing it today and am impressed with how it is sweet, gourmand, and luscious but not at all cloying or headache-inducing. It reminds me of a few perfumes and scents I have smelled, but I can’t put my finger on exactly which scent this reminds me of. It is sort of like Betsey Johnson EDP/Viva la Juicy/Flowerbomb/Prada Candy/Bath and Body Works Pecan Pie lotion… I think it reminds me most of a cross between Bath and Body Works Pecan Pie lotion and Betsey Johnson EDP.
Anyhow, as far as wearing Fancy goes, it opens with a sweet blast of red berries, and mellows out into a nice caramel and vanilla base that lasts for some time. I sort of wish it was a little stronger, but I think if it was stronger it would become cloying and give me a headache. I almost hate to say it, but I have become a fan of Jessica Simpson’s shoes and now her fragrances. Nicely done, Jessica Simpson! You’re one of the few celebrities whose products I genuinely enjoy.
I am really enjoying Fancy. I love the caramel and almond notes! Usually, I don't enjoy strong vanilla scents, but somehow it smells great on my skin. Warm and soft, very nice.
Tried a sample. Smells a lot like Bath & Body Works Warm Vanilla Sugar. It does have a lot of staying power. Vanilla and caramel lovers, this is for you.
This smells exactly like a cake! Maybe caramel-cake.... Its the same kind of scent you get when you walk in to a bakery :) I love it! And the bottle is super-pretty too :) This is heaven!
I really really wanted to like this but it just smelled like alcohol and caramel. Maybe I just don't like this kind of scent? But I'm definitely going to try to return it. The bottle is pretty. It does not smell fruity at all.
This is an overall nice fragrance very sweet and warm appropriate for the fall and winter season. It has very good staying power and projection. You can really smell the pear on the first spray which was interesting because the dry-down is almost pure vanilla. There was just one thing I disliked about the first spray... there was something I couldn't quite pin point.. some note which was very annoying and almost gave me a headache... I think it was the red berries, it kind of reminded me of the syrup medicine mom would give me when I had fever.. but don't be disappointed, it only lasts a little while.
OMG I want to wear this perfume on my wedding day!
The first time I sprayed it was sweet and then I could smell the vanilla and caramel .. Deliciousness!
I even can't explain , it's so delicious , it's the best perfume I have ever smelled! I bought the 1.0 oz one, but I am looking forward to buy a 3.4 oz. I want to have this perfume Forever in my Life! lol ♥
Perfume UPDATE:
This perfume stayed the whole day on me! I spray it 1.00 pm and now its exactly 11.00 pm and it's still here!
Wow. I am SO glad that I tried this fragrance finally... it is a true beauty. I am so pleased.. it is sweet but not in a cloying or overbearing way, and on me florals can be smelled as well. I couldn't be happier!
After seeing all of the positive reviews for this fragrance I had to try it. And I'm glad that I did! This is a beautiful, positively decadent fragrance - creamy, vanilla-caramel. Delicious, soft and feminine with decent staying power. A happy find for the cooler months.
The heart-notes in Fancy is the most delicious blend I've ever come across in any celeb scent, and for that, this is my favorite celeb-gourmand scent. After the synthetic top notes wear off in a few minutes, and up to 2-3 hours later, it's caramel sugar heaven! The gardenia mixed into in this luscious amber-caramel-nectar and that hint of apricot gives it such a beautiful feminine twist, not girly-teen or childish, but extremely feminine and extremely flirtatious, infact, the way the gardenia note blends almost seamlessly into the other gourmand notes is what I feel sets it apart from other caramel scents and gives it that special touch. Unfortunately, after the first few hours of delight we get to a generic powdered sugar+vanilla+amber dry-down, still with some caramel peeking through, but the fruits and florals have all gone. This final stage lasts for 8 hours+, the dry-down is not unpleasant or anything, just generic, artificial and typical...simply just 'nice'. I still love this scent and will keep repurchasing just for the 1st 3 hours, plus this is one of my most complimented fragrances, men especially love it, even my dad who is in his 70's noticed this one over all my other frags, and he commented favorably before buying a bottle for my mom (he's been buying her Chanel no.5 and nothing else for decades). Back to Fancy, it's wearable most seasons except summers, though I do find that I can pull it off easily on breezy summer nights with just a couple sprays. It's especially comforting on gloomy cold days, and it's my no.1 casual scent for fall/winter. I also like to layer this with Midnight Fantasy, it adds creaminess to MF, my 2nd favorite celeb-gourmand after Fancy.
mmmmmm yummy!!! I always compliment when a girl wears this :)
this is amazing!
I am in my 40's, can't stand celebrity merchandise, and I love Fancy!
This was a blind buy after seeing it pop up so much on this site while looking for a new fragrance. I have been wearing Fancy for about 3 weeks to make sure it matches up with my chemistry. I love it. I find a lot of fragrances make me feel nauseous, but this is just warm and comforting.
I do not get the florals or caramel. First spray is black pepper, but dissipates almost immediately. Next is a boozy apricot with some vanilla tobacco in the background. The bottom notes stay close and remind me of warm lemon pound cake, an un-smoked vanilla pipe tobacco blend, and amber.
I'm not sure if it will be too much for warm weather, but it is so cuddly and wonderful in the cooler weather. I don't think the sillage is that strong, but I only do 2 or 3 sprays.
This also reminds me of a deeper, richer Black Star by Avril Lavigne.
The word Fancy is very suitable for this scent.Fancy perfume is somewhat comparable to Juicy Couture Viva la juicy due to its sweet chocolatey vanilla scent. When i first spray Fancy the perfume smells like Lychee and Jasmine. I would much prefer Fancy over Viva la juicy because Fancy has a 1,000 times better chocolately drydown where as Viva la juicy does end up smelling like burnt plastic. I really like how this Fancy perfume has a slight almond aroma. I can safely say this perfume has perfected the standard of a true delightful Gourmand Floral perfume that i have been searching for! So far Fancy is pretty good for the moment when i spray it i feel Feminine & Fancy. This is my 8th signature scent.
Wow, what can I say? Please don't judge this perfume until it settles down! I cannot emphasize this enough, lol. The first spritz is overwhelming, strong, smells a bit bleh to me and I admit-I was soo disappointed because all the people here seemed to love it!
But wait...15 minutes later and it becomes absolutely lovely. Omg, is this the same scent? I'm bad at describing scents but this to me smells like christmas cakes with fruit. Soo nice and comforting.
Also, I should mention that Fancy doesn't smell anything like Escada's Magnetism or BS Fantasy to me at all. Magnetism is pure caramel with green notes while Fantasy is sugar cupcakes, which can be a bit too sweet and overpowering-not so with Fancy!
On me, this starts out very heavy on the apricot. When I press my nose into my skin (which is hard...the scent is so strong at first) it feels as if my nose is like 'Woah, TOO MUCH, okay I give up---DOVE SOAP!'. Anyway, I'm not in love with the opening; it's a bit too strong for me and while it's nice enough, it doesn't evoke any feelings or anything.
The drydown though, deserves all the hype! It's a gorgeous warm, sweet, cuddly caramel note. Now, I'm biased, because I LOVE caramel, but I have a hard time imagining someone who honestly dislikes this scent. I'd seriously recommend others to buy this; even if you end up disliking it (which I find unlikely), you're sure to have someone around who will give it a loving home!
I wish I'd bought the 50 ml bottle instead of the 30 ml; I'll definitely get a new bottle when this one's finished :)
4/5
Jessica Simpson, please stop making guilty pleasure perfumes that I'm embarrassed to mention the name of when someone inquires about it ;)
This perfume is scrumptious. Upon first whiff, there's A LOT of vanilla, which I love. And upon dry down, I smell like a cupcake....but NOT in a cheap, teeny-bopper, body spray kinda way. And the "cupcake" scent is much better than the ones in Britney Spears' Fantasy perfumes. I wear this on days where I want to release my inner child and smell like cupcakes. Yummy, scrumptious frosting and all.
I normally strongly dislike sweet and fruity perfumes, but this one is a rare exception.
Jessica knows how to make amazing gourmand fragrances :)
I don't get the pear at all. to me it's straight up a combo of vanilla, caramel and powder. I adore this scent; it's one of my favorites to put on before bed. it's incredibly warm and comforting. this is another scent I will not wear with weather that is even slightly warm. it's a bit spicy, which doesn't linger very long, but still. I can't just pick this up and wear it anytime.
Burnt plastic!! 10 minutes in, I'm not sure that this works with my chemistry. We'll see what happens in another half hour...
EDIT: Thank goodness I only paid $12.99 for a 1 oz. bottle of this. Sadly, it doesn't seem to work with my chemistry. Fancy Nights is absolutely wonderful, and Fancy Love works well in the drydown (the opening hour is a bit too fruity/syrupy for me, but it develops into a milder fragrance that's much better balanced and quite pleasantly romantic). However, the original Fancy never seems to lose that chemical plastic smell on me; it lessens, but even an hour later it is still there, combined with an unpleasant saccharine sweetness that overpowers. Ah, well. One can't win them all. :)
Oh sweet, creamy gourmand heaven! I would have imagined tart berries to make a strange combination with caramel, but I couldn't have been more mistaken. The berries and fruit bring a light and joyful opening to the creamy, vanilla caramel, white flowers softly peeking through to add a hint of cleanliness to the rich and round almond. The transitions are so smooth it's a pure pleasure to behold, and while Fancy may be considered too heavy and sweet by some, I think that is exactly what makes me return to it.
Not every day is a day is suit for juicy and creamy caramel clouds, but when I do feel like having that deliciousness embracing me... I want no compromises.
I absolutely love it. I get a whiff of it every now and then after i spray it in the morning...No need to reapply all day..for 20 bucks 50 ml at Shopper Drug Mart in Canada you can't go wrong...I think i may like it better than my Viva La juicy.
#Perfumejunkieinthemaking
Yum! I bought the 100ml yesterday and of the 3 Fancies I purchased, I love this one most! I find it rather interesting how it starts off so fruity and then dries down into a sweet, caramel, warm aroma. When I first spray it, I smell juicy pear layered down with soft apricot & the red berries add a little ripeness. The middle opens up to some light florals, but the domination comes from the vanilla, caramel & almond, from the heart to the base. You're mainly going to be getting this lovely caramel scent throughout the wearing. This fragrance reminds me of salted caramel macaroons that my Grandmother makes. Delicious, and warm, perfect for winter! Love this one! :)
I got giving this from a member, I wasn't to sure on it at first I thought it was to sugary for my taste but I gave it a few more try's around the house and I actually like it now I like the caramel dry down. I think this would be nice in summer so al be wearing it more in the next couple months. :)
Dry down is practically identical to Kenzo Amour.
ohhhh i love this so much! i can't stand jessica simpson after i heard she was sued by her clothing company for not wearing her own merchandise, but this is a different story, i can't imagine her not wearing this, it smells so sweet and so girly.
it is like prada candy or pink sugar only less expensive and it lasts a super long time, this is an excellent date night perfume
I'm in love with this scent. Simple like that. Liquid caramel!
I love layering this with Pink Sugar. Oh my gosh, it just is so yummy I can't stand it. I mean, it's great alone but...Pink Sugar decided it needed a buddy. :3
This is actually pretty nice! I can really smell the caramel and vanilla creme which I like. Good sillage and lasts well. I just layered it with my Molinard Vanilla well because basically I'm a vanilla fiend!! Yummy.
It's reminds me a bit of Montale Mukhalat, there are a lot of common notes as vanilla, almond, red berries .Such delicious and succulent ,I wanna eat it !
I blind bought this based on all the reviews saying it was an amazing gourmand with everything from vanilla toffee caramel to cookies and cupcakes...
At first spray I get the mix of some strange fruit with carbs (I don't know how to describe it but somehow I'm thinking "fruit and crackers") but either I don't like apricot or the combination of those top notes because I don't like it.
During the drydown it's vaguely flowery-nutty sweet and it's not terrible but not worth going through the top for.
Base is musky vanilla, which is fine but a skin scent at that point.
Such a shame, it seems to be amazing on people.
Based on two sprays on one arm only:
Longevity: 1 hour moderate projection, 2 hours soft, then skin scent for about 2 hours.
Edit: I'm starting to come back to this (I WANT a caramel fragrance so badly!) and it's growing on me. When I spray I rub my arms together (usually a big no-no) until the top notes mostly leave. This propels it into drydown and I start the fragrance out with only a touch of the apricot instead of a punch. It's nutty caramelyly sweet, and longevity is good. Better than if I just spray it actually, after rubbing it in it's still there (light skin scent) in the morning and gets even sweeter, mostly vanilla caramel now).
Fancy is super sugary sweet gourmand scent that is perfect fitting for most teenage girls. Although this is one of my all time favourite fragrances, but it doesn't stand out much comparing to the other hundreds of celebrity endorsed sweet perfumes out there.
okay, i'll admit it, i like this. i hate that i like this, but it is what it is. personally, i believe there is a time and a place for sugar factories and sometimes it's on my neck or my wrist and in my cleavage. I'm making this out to be a wee bit trashy (which i have heard someone descirbe it as smelling like a baby prostitute), and maybe it is a little, but for me, it makes me think of a pretty, young girl. even though it's carmel and sugar, topped with vanilla cotton candy, notes that scream for winter wear, there's something that comes out on the skin thats oh so summer (maybe it's a hint of apricot?). A wide open field on the warmest early evening, a loose crepe dress, long wavy hair thats been kissed by the sun, dark lashes for days and freckles on the nose. quite honestly, there's really nothing "fancy" about it. just pure, sweet yet sexy innocence.
oh and a side note: since this perfume seems to have no wild card notes in sight, just pure comfort sugar, i think it would be an excellent layering agent. Patchouli and Amber??? thats just a given... but maybe some Musk, Peach or even Jasmine, ya know, throw in that wild card? uh, yes please!
Fancy on my skin is a light airy burst of pear and vanilla the gardenia lingers in the back with a dab of apricot . Ummmmmmm its not mind blowing but it does smell good I wear it after a hot shower at bedtime it does last for several hours but not the strong trail just vanilla scent all around you she should go back to fancy make this one a little bit stronger and maybe add some more vanilla and a stronger flowerand some blonde woods. But overall I've been wearing it two days and its my around the house scent could you where this on a date? Sure its light and not offensive but not what I would consider sexy wearing this to work its fine a lttle spray and that's that . Fancy love is far more romantic and sexy fancy isn't tweeny teen sugar either its a well balanced vanilla scent imo its not smoky enough to be called oriental I would call it a gourmand.
I love this perfume! Although it doesn't suit me personally (though I wish it did), I bought this perfume for my bestfriend, and it's so incredibly delicious on her! It doesn't overpower at all, but it does leave a trail of yummy caramel and vanilla behind. This perfume stays on for quite a long time, and it fades sooooo beautifully! I love the complexity and the subtle changes this scent goes through :) It's not a perfume suitable for everyone, and because it's slightly heavier than other perfumes, I'd recommend using it for the colder seasons- reminds me of cosy marshmellow melting over the fireplace indoors on a freezing winter's day.
I was a little worried when I opened the box I got at Ross for around $12 because the liquid is a deep amber colour and not the light pink shown above.
I get soft vanilla musk from this, with notes of a pear brulee and almond extract. At first spray (first 30 minutes) it is intensely vanilla and dessert like, but it matures after that, smelling mostly of a slightly gourmand musk. I don't get as much of a caramel scent as others describe, more like brown sugar.
Longevity is amazing, can smell it on a coat or shirt for days (longer on fabric than on skin but that is fine!)
This is my favourite casual, at home fragrance. I love to stick my head in my shirt and huff it all day long!
Oh my goodness this is such an amazing scent. When I first started getting into perfumes, I was pretty snobby against ones endorsed by celebrities and didn't even want to try them.
Fancy by Jessica Simpson changed all that for me. This scent easily compares to high end fragrances such as Viva La Juicy or Hanae Mori, and the packaging is very pretty and visually blends in well with my perfume collection -- I love the pinky copper lid and detailed cylindric bottle.
I wore Hanae Mori && Fancy today. For the first hour I felt that Hanae Mori was more "deep", but in the end the dry down of Fancy was more complex and delicious. This scent is very sweet and would be good for everyday or casual wear.
And as far as celebrity scent discrimination goes -- I quote Katie Puckrick and say that you shouldn't discriminate against smelling good.
is a strong sweet in the bottle but the skin is sweetly delicate, romantic is good for all day. Delicate sweet taste of joy has.
This perfume smells sweet yet still perfumey (like flowers). I like it but I don't love it. Think vanilla sugar with a hint of standard perfume smell. Try it out, you may love it. :)
Fancy smells on me nearly identical to Cinema by YSL...i know it's weird but that's how it plays on my skin: Cinema+caramel= Fancy. The citrusy♥almondy chickness of Cinema, plus the coziness and flirtion of caramel, musk and amber, make this scent eatably sexy on me. The sillage is average but it lasts forever on clothes. Love it i proudly say it loud and not shy to make it my signature, the only thing that stops me is that Fancy is for winter use only for me, and a Signature perfume for me is the one that fits all year round and doesn't force searching for replacement wirh weather changes....
The initial spray has a very strong opening of sugarly sweet pear notes to me. Within a few minutes a slight flowery note comes through. Dries down as caramalised pear with a hint of chocolate. It smells kinda yummie, very gourmand! I found it has great sillage for about an hour after which it settles down to a close skin scent of which you get whiffs from everytime you move around. I like it.
Love it! Smells like Jolly Rancher in a bottle and lasts a long time. I only have a sample and will get a full size!
From the description I thought Fancy would be the caramel from Prada Candy + the vanilla and almond from Hypnotic Poison, making it creamy, pleasant, sensual but this doesn't happen, I don't smell any caramel, only a synthetic cookie smell, really simple and disappointing.
This scent is weird..... just a mixture of gardenia and cookies, warm yet bright, yummy yet bitter! IDK everyone loves it and says it's sweet goodness but..... it has a nutty, white chcolate-y smell with gardenia
Finally received my bottle today in the mail that I ordered online. I'd smelt it before a few years ago and knew I wanted to buy it someday and at first smell on my skin I get amber, caramel, hint of magnolia, almond, and almost a spice/cinnamon (though not listed as a note) undertone. As I wore it throughout my day, I noticed it evolved slightly and stayed beautiful even through its scent progression. I smelled of caramel and vanilla an hour- 2 hours into wear. After 4 hours I smelled of amber, caramel, almost creme brulee, slight hint of sandalwood. I've since reapplied it, because I really enjoy it on me. It's sweet, sexy, and has depth to it. It's a winner because it's beautiful, has nice sillage, and lasts more hours than anticipated!
When I very first smelled this scent all I could smell was floral, in this case gardenia boomed very loudly in my face. Then my nose would turn off!
After one week, I could smell the pear, apricot and caramel sinking and mixing together at random times depending on the weather changes; Still to strong for my nose to handle, so again my nose would turn off.
Now after two weeks, I can really smell the smooth blend of Vanilla and Caramel, they melt lovingly together. Then theres the peach, apricot and red berries (smells like cherry to me), so delicatably yummy. The amber and almond make it strong and distinct. The floral make it feminine. Mouth watering, the perfect mix of sweet, fruity, floral, very calming and relaxing.
I am so glad I kept onto this scent and gave it time for my nose to develop, since it is one of my first more constructed scents -I'm a one dimensional lover- But this is multi-faceted, and great for those beginners noses to warm up to something dreamy.
Though my boyfriend straight from the first moment I sprayed it said it smelt like warm caramel/vanilla pear scent.. so maybe his nose is more developed then mine!!
I’m on the fence a bit on this one. In the beginning it has quite a weird smell to me; and what I smell does not translate as any of the fruit notes listed. In fact, it doesn’t really smell like fruit at all to me, or even any identifiable floral for that matter; and unlike some reviewers, I don’t pick up any gardenia at all. In the beginning it has this really strong powdery smell, but it’s not really like baby powder; I can’t accurately describe it. It then morphs from a powdery, almost cosmetic, smell into a very sweet vanilla. I like it better as it sits on my skin, because after the vanilla comes the caramel; I consider the base to be the best aspect of this fragrance. Also, this stuff is strong and lasts forever on my skin. I’m going to give it a chance and continue wearing it; with any luck it will grow on me.
Yes Jessica's Fancy was no bueno on my skin this was a blind buy but only a mini. Ugh, she is sicky sweet and could induce a headache if I put anymore on. Not a fan its very floral on my skin but this sharp sugar undertone. Now my bf did like how it smelled and he probably wouldnt mind if I wore it but that wont happen because she doesnt sing on my skin like other perfumes. The little bottle is cute though.
EDIT: This perfume has to sit on your skin a long time before it morphs into a pleasant floral smell wit almost a sharp citrus note but its warm. Give it time if you dont like it at first
I'm not a fan of this perfume. I bought it without smelling it because I found it on clearance at AJ Wright. I was very disappointed with my purchase. It smells very cheap and doesn't last long AT ALL. The smell was off of me within an hour.
I am redoing this review , I love this I really smell vanilla predominately which I love this smells divine ! I really think this is an un offensive scent, it's really not strong at all which is a good thing , for me at least :) if your a vanilla fan you'll love this one, I know there are other notes listed but on me it smells like vanilla icing sugar yumm it's very feminine & perfect for my job at the office because it isn't in anyway over bearing & I frequently get told how lovely I smell,
I like this scent but i don't love it...if I put it on my clothes than all I can smell is gardenia and vanilla, for a very, very long time...and I'm not fan of flowery scents...but if I put it on my skin is pretty lovely, nice and warm...I can smell caramel and warm gourmand vanilla...
Mmmmmmmmmmm, Nice! :)
love love loveeee this, amazing scent, most stand out note are vanilla and gardenia, really work together, amazing longevity, monster bomb sillage, I am so bad to spray many many times and surely I notice the people surround me are chocked sorryy
I found a set of 3 minis at Burlington Coat Factory on sale for $12. The set contained: Fancy, Fancy Love and Fancy Nights. I don't usually buy celebrity fragrances but the reviews here were so good I thought I'd try these scents.
I really disliked Fancy Love and Fancy Nights. They didn't work with my chemistry, I guess.
However, Fancy I REALLY liked!
At first it's very sweet but not cloying. Later it warms up to a rich, delicious caramel with a wonderful bright note that I love. My 19 year old son said I smelled really good.
Since they have 50% off all fragrance sets right now, I ended up exchanging the set of minis for a full sized set of Fancy instead (perfume, body wash and lotion.)
all I have to say is, thank god I didnt buy it. This is sickly sweet, in a fake plastic-y way. A coworker told me I smell nauseating. Lol.
Wow! This is so yummy! I usually dislike very sweet fragrances but this is different to the other sweeties that are popular now days. It sort of reminds me of Prada Candy (the caramel note in both) but they are in no way dupes for each other. I only got this yesterday and havent had a chance to try it out properly yet, but one quick spray on my wrist was strong and lasted around 4-5 hours before I couldnt really smell it anymore. It's summer here in Australia atm and even with the intense heat this was nice on my skin. It turned very warm and creamy! Im looking forward to trying out more of Jessica Simpson's fragrances :)
This perfume is bery overpowering and sickly sweet, not a fan.
just got mine and just sprayed. smells like litchi, jasmine and mostly vanilla. if your a vanilla foodie lover, its a good buy!
I really like this fragrance, I don't wear it often but when I do, people always comment on how nice I smell.
Wow! I never imagined that I would love this perfume so much. It's my favorite from her line. It smells so delicious. I can definitely detect the caramel and vanilla with the powder. On my skin, it smells like it's blended perfectly. Not overpowering or cloying in the least but still noticeable, even after a whole day I can still smell it faintly on myself so the lasting power is great. Cozy, warm and special. I picked up a 3.4 ounce bottle of this for 19.99, what a steal and so worth it! One of the best celebrity scents ever!
I am in LOVE with Jessica Simpson's fragrance line...with midnight being my least fav...FANCY is a beautiful scent and has a great price tag!!!!
this is my official signature scent. i have tired so many but non are like this... i love vanilla type scents and this one has floral fruit, and food aspects all in one bottle of heaven :) LOVE LOVE LOVE.
Fancy is a delicious and feminine fragrance that has got me more compliments than any designer brand perfume has!
This is a yummy combination of vanilla cupcakes, smooth almond, sweet caramel and pear syrup with light hints of gardenia and jasmine. The lasting power and sillage is up there with Britney Spears Fantasy.
Overall, Fancy is so delicious, comforting and warm. I personally think this is a must have for all gourmand lovers!
At first it smells like a delicious marshmallow, but as it dries down it develops a musky old lady smell! :( If it didn't do that I would buy it in a heartbeat!
as an exception..this is my second review of this scent..
after trying quite some different sweet/gourmand scents through the year..i start to appreciate Fancy more and more..it's a true gem in many aspects..
my fav sweet caramel scent without a doubt by far..luckily it's not that popular here..i haven't met anyone else wears it..it's floral and yummy...the Gardenia note in it is beautiful..unlike some gourmand or celebrity perfumes..Fancy has many dimensions..you can actually tell the development of top, middle and base notes..without any weird notes in it..it wins me the most compliments..
perfect packaging and as i mentioned before it's that good i would not hesitate to pay more for it..
if you love sweet and floral scents like me, you will find this is a perfect combination of these notes..it makes you smell young and beautiful..nothing cheesy
Love the top notes. Very sweet and lovely! The middle notes almost get too sweet and gourmand for me. I was questioning whether I liked it. But then it starts drying down into what seems like a sugary vanilla scent that is lovely and not too gourmand. All in all, I like it. I won't wear it everyday but it's a nice winter scent. The sillage is heavy, so just one spray for me.
I bought this for my sister for Christmas (She's 17), after trying to find Can Can by Paris Hilston. She absolutely loved it and surprisingly so did I. I love how its incredibly sweet with lots of caramel and vanilla beats to it. I really want this perfume now.
GORGEOUSLY FEMININE VANILLA...very soft
Okay, this may sound weird BUT what I do is I use JS Fancy and Wish Chopard at the same time and it is just a little bit different, but on me I like it and it works. I do use them separately too because they are both beautiful scents.
Yes agree with @xbree my first bottle was deep amber color and my secong bottle is pink color juice. Both were blind buy
Beautiful scent and one of my favorites. It is a lovely foody gourmand scent and has a buttery creamy caramel sweetness to it. A true cozy comfort scent and perfect for fall and winter.
sooo soo caramelly sweet but i love it, sometimes it turns to be something like a cup of tea with a lot of sugar in it... i can smeel the gardenia when it dries down, so sweet n again i love it
I believe there is mass insanity here with this one. Being a true gourmand scent user I fully expected this Fantasy to be in that category and was eagerly awaiting it's delivery.
From the reviews I thought I'd be in foodie heaven and had fantasies about Christmas sweets. But I found it to be a very spicy oriental with NO food notes.
To even compare it with Pink Sugar is delusional. So I don't know what is wrong with everyone, but this is no way a gourmand scent.
I love this perfume!! i feel like it is appropriate for all times of the year. it last a long time and the vanilla caramel is sensational. i'm a vanilla kind of person and it matches my chemistry perfectly.
this is my go to fav vanilla scent-I really don't get any of the floral notes at all-no gardenia, no jasmine, aprico, etc. This is predominantly vanilla and caramel scent and its just fine with me. Love it and wear this all the time. Lasting power is fairly decent on this and since it can be found very cheaply, this is a winner.
i love this perfume the third celebrity perfume i own because i usually think they smell very similar. this is sweet and warm and i loveeee it. its so affordable in places like marshalls or ross. love it.
Wow! I was very surprized when I tried this perfume. After reading the reviews, and smelling the bottle, I thought I was going to smell like caramel.
But what comes through to my nose when I smell my wrist is the gardenia. I will get whiffs of caramel occasionally, but the gardenia is what my skin brings to the front. It's a very odd combination.
I asked my boyfriend to smell it, and he told me it smelled powdery. He hates powdery smells, so I guess I won't be wearing it around him.
I couldn't smell it after awhile, but my boyfriend assured me it was still there and extremely strong.
I don't think the smell is unpleasant, just a little unusual.
It reminds me of Viva La Juicy a little because both have Gardenia, and in both, the Gardenia becomes the top note on my sking.
I picked this up again today, sprayed and sighed. So delicious! Why did I put it aside in the first place!? Silly rabbit.
Fancy is such a warm, sweet, delicious scent. I feel edible and ultra feminine when I wear this. It makes me feel so pretty! No matter what I wear, whether it's yoga pants and a tee or a chiffon top and skinny's, I always feel beautiful. This is a fragrance that can be worn everyday, day or night. Another reason to love it! This is definitely going to be in my collection for many years. I see myself repurchasing for quite a while.
I love vanilla fragrances, fragrances with a heavy vanilla base or fragrances that incorporate vanilla. For whatever reason it's the only kind that works with my body chemistry. Love Fancy!
This is a swirling creamy vortex of caramel, white mocha choca latte, those packets of sherbet that come with the spoon, and candy bracelets. Gentle feminine floral notes are present too. Don't overdo it, as people will smell you coming a mile off. Too sweet for me now in summer, but I will try again in winter. It's nicer layered with other things, like Hot Couture or Baby Phat Dare Me.
A beautiful blend of floral and sugary notes ! If you like perfumes with caramel this one is for you : it's intensive but gardenia and jasmine are very present too. So this mix is really adorable and elegant at the same time. Feminine, sensual, sugary : I love it !
I've got Fancy Me too (so nice fragrance) and now I want to discover the other ones.
Excellent staying power.
I'm really enjoying this Fragrance.
I have A LOT of different perfumes but this one has started becoming more of a regular one i spray on me.
Jessica Simpson did well with this.
I sprayed quite a bit on my shirt today and when I entered the room where my two sons were, they said MMMMMMMMMMM What are you wearing mom???? You smell like marshmallows :)
I thought i smelled more like Caramel or brown sugar or something along those lines but I'll settle for marshmallows haha
Great Perfume!! Totally worth the price and can be an everyday scent.
I love all the Fancy bottles too :)
I will buy a second bottle of this perfume .. It's the best sweet fragrance I tried so far .. it smells similar to Hanae Mori but Fancy is better .
I do love this one... I switch between a lot of fragrances, but this one is a regular. Sweet, soft, feminine, delicious. My husband likes this one, too!
okay i really want this perfume! its so warm and yummy. but why are there pink ones and amber colored ones? is it the same or are they different? maybe a dumb question but i'm a tad confused.
This is my favorite fragrance from the Jessica Simpson line.It smells so good you will want to eat it ,I even get hungry while wearing it .I have had so many compliments while wearing Fancy.I bought my mother some for Christmas this year because she tried mine on one day and wore it to church and all the ladies told her she smelled good.It is a very comforting scent and makes you feel wonderful. It is a warm caramel vanilla dream.
I have never thought that I would say this about Fancy because I hated it the first time I smelled it. After reading so many good revews I was so curious and wanted to try it again so I bought a bottle, arrived yesterday. At first I was no nothing for me but I couldn't stop sniffing and it's wonderful, really happy I bought it.
A little strong in the beginning and also sweet but it calms down to a warm and cozy vanilla perfume, love it. The lasting power is so good, I put it on yesterday and I can still smell it on my wrist today 15 hours later.
i just bought this fragrance today without smelling it first since they didnt have a tester for it. but i loved all the notes in it and was so sure that i was going to like it.i really really love this scent! ive been wearing it all day today and i cant get enough of it. this will be my everyday scent for now.
in the opening i smell a strong litchi even though this note is not listed and the caramelized pear. its such a sweet scent with vanilla, caramel and fruity notes. i can detect almond notes and faint floral notes too. i was afraid that the scent was going to dry down very powdery but luckily it doesnt. after wearing it for about two hours the scent fades and i get a soft creamy vanilla and caramel that lingers closely on my skin. its a very delicious gourmand scent, but not cloying or nauseating.
i wouldnt say its sophisticated but its definitely girly and playful. one of the best gourmand perfumes ive smelled. the longevity of this perfume is not that great but not horrible either. lasts for about two hours on me. i love the scent so much so im willing to carry around the bottle with me to respray it.
I smell alot of gardenia and jasmine, a little caramel with vanille. Actually the vanille i dont smell that.
I just bought this online, it is a blind buy. I like vanilla and caramel so i hope that this smells like that.. and not like britney spears hidden fantasy.
One of my favorite perfume's in my collection, for sure! Very sweet & reminds me a little bit of Gale Hayman's Delicious Cotton Candy, but it is it's own unique smell. I love Jessica Simpson & her Dessert line & of course Fancy.
One of my favourite perfumes. Very sweet but not sickly.
Fancy is very unique to me, because it combines very sweet notes of vanilla and caramel, and mixes them with light florals. It is dominated by sweet, gourmand notes, but the soft florals that back them up really make this fragrance special. This one really surprised me, I didn't expect to really like it, let alone love it, but I do. This is a very pretty, feminine scent that's easy to fall in love with.
EDIT: The body lotion has a strong, soapy drydown, so I cannot recommend it, but the EDP is amazing!
so my fancy came in the mail today, i only spent 24USD for 3.4oz from amazon i thought it was a bargain for a blind buy with a lot of good reviews, and i love vanilla and caramel....and boy thats what i got
first spray just smelt like alcohol, that lasted for 2 mins then the dry down gets sweet and warm, i just cant stop smelling it! its addictive! keep putting my wrist to my nose and close my eyes as the sweetness and comfort warms up my nostrils. its been on me for 4 hrs now and it sits close to my skin, its not over powering, and my husband loves it
i feel warm and cozy when i wear it. what a great scent!
think this will be my future signature scent :)
While at the mall, the lady at the counter offered me a sample smelling strip of this perfume but I suggested her to spray it on my hands instead.
After an hour, I was in the public transport getting back home, and I detected a cheap plastic smell mixed with alcohol which was making me feel nauseous. First, I though it was from someone sitting next to me but it started to get intense minute by minute until I figured out the culprit.
YUCK!
Then I had to shallow breath all the way till I reached home.
I purchased this perfume last year and wore it all winter. It very much reminds me of the holiday season. For that reason I will wear it again during winter. Its very much a caramel scent. Its comforting and cozy and perfect for the colder weather. It also has great staying power, it lasted for days on my scarves. I love it and was surprised that I would like it so much.

The weather is turning cold. I am feeling stressed. I want a comfort scent and I think being surrounded by the scent of vanilla cupcakes would be just the ticket.
So I see "Fancy" a putative cupcake perfume on sale for $24 USD 3.4 oz at Ross. Done!
First spray, pure alcohol...then a terrible sour sweet floral smell weighed down by vanilla. So have I made another blind-buy mistake?
But no! After an hour or so, the scent of yellow cupcakes, vanilla and buttery begins to float around me and lasts for a few hours. I really, really like it. Maybe love.
If cupcake is what you want, Fancy will do the trick.
I tried fancy a little over a year ago. At the time that i bought it the formula was perfect a definite vanilla and caramel smell, but in the last few months it has changed in color and smell. it has become too powdery and more caramel than vanilla. i stopped using this due to that and it makes me very unhappy. it is priced too high for it's scent life in my opinion. one or two hours in comparison to six shouldn't be priced the same. not as good as the old one.
As a guy myself. I usally wear men fragrances in public and women fragrances at home(I think most of girl perfumes smell better). And Fancy is..really really good. It does smell very sweet(in a good way), unique. Like super delicious lychee and butter cake. Juicy and buttery at the same time. I never expect to love this one but its much better than i expected and really suit my body chemistry. On my skin the dry down really out of this world. What a wonderful milky and creamy scent.
Sillage and lasting power also great for celebrity fragrances too, 8 hours+
Girls, if you wear this and it goes well with your chemistry i think Fancy will make you more adorable and lovely for sure. Very recommend for all gourmand lovers here.
ps. beautiful bottle too
I don’t get the oft-mentioned cupcake from Fancy. I get more of a warm, soft amber laced with apricot compote; the vanilla is there but made more grown-up by a trace of soft woods. Definitely smells heavier and sweeter on paper than on skin.
If you find Comptoir sud Pacifique vanillas too simple and “real” (i.e. I spilt food on myself) or Fantasy a little too girly and synthetic (Cupcake Dolls), then you might just love Fancy. I personally like all 3 types, depending on my mood.
On the aside, Fancy has a resemblance to a 20+-year-old classic gourmand, Chopard Casmir. It has that same sweet smoky-amber laced with sweet fruits and a faint muskiness, but Fancy is softer and more bubbly, without the smoldering spices and powdery resins and musks of Casmir.
This is one to be worn in the colder months. It is sweet and strong, but a very pleasant vanilla/caramel smell. A spritz or two will do :o)
The caramel and almonds really jump out at me on this one. I really like it. The sillage is great too and lasts quite a while on me. I would buy it again!
Update: I do get the bugspray element. I still like it though!
Seriously love this fragrance! It has something about it that draws you to it! Worth the buy and wear! Plenty of compliments from wearing it
Very sweet and long lasting without too much of a chemical smell, but still a bit synthetic. I smell no fruit with it, but perhaps more almond.
Just brought this perfume today an must say i really like it i love sweet smelling perfumes that are delicious an this is it(:
I love this fragrance. It is super extremely sweet. On my skin there's a beautiful caramelly, vanilla sweetness. My skin chemistry works wonders with sweet fragrances because when i dont wear fragrances my skin naturally smells sweet and its wonderful <3
I owned the 1.7 bottle and the .5 mini. I noticed that when I spray this on the scent can be very overpowering because it goes everywhere, so I gave the 1.7 bottle away. Now im using the rollerball version cause I can manage precisely where I want it and how much. I can control the sillage and its just perfect.
Be careful not to overspray..
XO-Jessy
This here is the fragrance by far that I have ever in the 15 years of wearing perfumes, gotten the most compliments on.
Men and women follow me around like drooling puppies when I have on fancy. "Oh my gosh you smell so terrific!" It further convinces me that I was just born with the right kind of body chemistry to wear gourmands :P.
The top notes are plasticky and gross, but melt away to caramel drizzled on top of fluffy vanilla waffles. Something just a touch powdery and flowery, like jasmine powdered sugar. Hints of almonds and red berries....beaaaautifffulll gourmand fragrance.
Highly, highly recommend.
And it lasts so long! 8 hours!
I could never be without a bottle of this stuff.
A more mature, expensive smelling vanilla. Not girly like the others, more complex. Use sparingly. The bath gel is out of this world.
I think this one will be a classic years from now, like Shalimar.
I tried this fragrance with a couple prejudices against it. 1) A celebu-scent, not only that but I really don't like Jessica Simpson.
2) I saw it reviewed here as a sweet scent boasting the strongest note being caramel. I generally hate sweet frags.
On a whim I saw it in the pharmacy and tried a spritz of it and fancy Love. I thought it over and kept sniffing my wrist and OH MY GOD! It smelled almost EXACTLY like burberry brit but minus the heady peony note (which I liked but made me cough.) and the expensive price tag! So I bought it 100 ml for $20 (a steal!) and am glad I did! However I question if I'm ever going to actually use all 100ml of this stuff. It seems like a bit much.
I blindly bought a small sample bottle of this for $5. The caramel and vanilla notes dominate, giving a blandly sweet effect. This fragrance gave me an allergic reaction, as many cheap scents do, so I had to get rid of it.
fancy is a guilty pleasure, it is a burst of energy. It is rich, warm and sweet! I've noticed alot of times whenever people spray this at first they don't like it as much but given after 15 mins is where we start getting what fancy is really all about. It tones down to a nice soft sweet vanila baked goodness with flowers as the icing on the cake. You have to wait for it to settle tho ! I cant stress that enough! For only 59 dollars you get an amazing perfume that really does last all day ! It is really that wonderful. Perfect for fall and winter
Smells like caramels and marshmallows. It is soft and cozy, with great staying power and sillage. It is very straight and it has become tiring over time, but is a good scent.
I've smelled this in the drug store many times. It's sweet and delicious, like yummy caramel, but I would never wear it or want anybody else to! Yes it smells nice and tasty, but it's like toffee candy... it makes me feel sticky just smelling it. And it's not very sophisticated at all, even by the low standards if celeb fragrances. You can get better celeb gourmands from people like Britney and Rihanna.
I've waited so long to try Fancy and I am so happy that I did! For years I've smelt the same caramel vanilla coziness on random people in class or strangers - so happy when one of my friends started wearing it a few weeks ago and finally found out what smelled so delicious. I'm really hesistant to blind buy perfumes, and after reading the posts here I was worried that this would just smell fruity on me and not the gourmand mix that everyone loves. I first went into a perfume store and tested the rollerball on my wrist (which was a bit leaky and I didn't rub my wrists together) I kept smelling my wrists but all I got was fruit and powder. When I woke up the next morning my wrists smelt exactly like this lotion I have called Angel Food Cake from the Tutti and Dolce line from Bath and Body Works (circa 2004, if anyone remembers that!!) I found the little 0.25 oz mini perfume vial and decided for $9, I would give it a shot. The opening notes I detect are apricot and a bit of honey, maybe? Then after a while the wonderful blend of buttery caramel, vanilla and almond comes in and I am in heaven. It's the most delicious combination I have ever smelt in a perfume, without it being sickly sweet. I literally need just one spray with this because it's so strong initially. Although I read that it lasts all day, I can't smell this anymore after about 7 hours on my clothes. I spray this on myself before I leave for class (when it's in the low 50's outside) ten minutes later, this smells just as strong as it does when I first sprayed it on. On some days when the sun comes out and I work up a sweat power walking to class, I immeadiately regret putting this on. Something about this is just nauseating in the heat. I've worn this for about two weeks and have hardly made a dent in the mini bottle - one spray goes a long way!
For me this fragrance is an unlikely "femme fatale"... the notes are so right, beautiful and delicious... I want to love it badly. The glowing rose gold bottle radiates warmth and comfort... yet everytime I test it I get a MONSTROUS headache.
I don't learn, I don't give up, I test it again hoping for better luck -- talk about triumph of optimism over experience -- and guess what? same old hammer on the head effect...
Still I don't give up, thinking that this time it will be different... test it again... SMACK!!! ... I see the bottle, I pick it up....you get the point, I am an idiot :)
Might need a tattoo, saying: "FANCY = TOO SWEET, TOO FLORAL, TOO MUCH!"
EDIT: I figured out a way to make peace with this fragrance!! :)) SKIP the fragrance, use the body lotion!!! It's perfect -- lots of caramel, no headache! YAY!
I'll have to add to my previous review:
I really like this one. After it warms up on the skin, it's delicious. I haven't been wearing this many times yet though, was waiting for colder weather.
Ok, so my son never comments on my perfumes, he's so used to me wearing different things every day. No comments on Tom Fords or any strong stuff, that i would expect a comment on.
The other day when i sprayed Fancy on, he shouted from a distance/ different room, asking "WHAT did you just spray on? It smells exactly like the bug spray i had to wear as a kid, when we were up north (lotta mosquitos there in the summer)". And he's right !
On the skin, that initial chemical blast goes away pretty quickly, but sprayed in the air, it smells like that exact bug spray.
Hmm, maybe it's a multi- functional perfume, might even work as a repellent in the summer ;). Handy, but not sure that's the vibe i want my perfume to give ^^.
The experiment continues, this perfume was a funny one :D
To me - a sweet girl even talking about perfume preferences ; ) -
this is too sweet ! This is one among very few that has turned out as headace in the end. I can see by notes that many would love it and why, but this is not me.
I had a little sample of the white bottle and found that one better but not me, so I continued trying miss Simpson scents and ended up with Fancy nights, that isn't really me either .....but here were talking perfume !
A stunning masterpiece which is a delicious gourmand; jam packed with wonderful sweet and vanilla like aromas, which together form an outrageously potent sexy bomb, which projects massively and lasts such a long time...
I applied 6 heavy sprays
0-2 mins - Floods the entire house, peach, little strange, some chemicals
2 mins -5 hours. 1.5 foot projection of the most divine scent you could wish for.. caramel, vanilla, almonds, berrys... where do I stop..? with a slight powdery finish with a little nice smokey edge... The secret I find to this frag is that the scent which projects is so much better than when you smell the skin. Smell it on others or spray well away from your nose, perhaps your torso or arms and let the projecting scent warm you up. This is not just sexy, this is the stuff of Hugh Hefner's Bunnys..Wow!
5 hours- 8 hours - 8 inch projection. Lasts and projects all day, it is like a cloud of loveliness floating around....superb
8 - 14 hours - 2.5 inch projection. Linear. Some trails.
14 - 22 hours - Close to skin. Smooth finish
So affordbale and a scent which is big, fun, delicious and as a man, this will render them senseless and "this is what men want".. wow sexy
Masterpiece
Soft, warm and sweet....another underrated scent.... It has caramel and vanilla but not like cooked up and drizzled on cake. I think the amber and almond warms out the sweetness, making it smooth and mellow. The scent spreads like buttery goodness.... Even if you have your doubts, try this before you say "no". It's a great scent for layering on.....
All about sweet tasty caramel .
At the beginnig , on my skin is pure caramel , then after one hour till the end, it's fruity-musk . Longevity is about 5 hours .
I recommend this perfume .
I love this perfume, but unfortunately it's not available in Bulgaria. My brother bought it for me from USA. But it's really good and very different. Everybody in the office are impressed with this scent.
This fragrance has a lot of meaning to me on a personal level......... This is my favorite winter scent so far..... This is going to sound funny, but it kinda smells like something Ms. Claus' kitchen would smell like...... Lately I have been wearing it and might just be me... Because i have had it for so long........ It has not been lasting on my skin for awhile.
I love the scent no matter what, and it will always be apart of my fragrance collection!
Very fruity and somewhat sharp upon application, Fancy becomes much sweeter and warmer after a few minutes. At this point the musky, green note of pear becomes more distinct, as does a breezy/ fresh floral accord of jasmine and gardenia. A scrumptious smell of apricots and cream also become more discernible at this point.
Presently, even as the gourmand middle/base notes of the fragrance develop more and more, they are still somewhat in-distinct. The almond, vanilla and caramel all seem to meld together, sort of like a chewy candy rather than individualized notes.
The drydown, hours later, is quite bright and very buttery-smelling.
Absolutely atrocious. Spritzed it on my wrist, and all I smelled was caramel with some toxic odor. Just imagine overly sweet Brown Sugar Oatmeal expired and moldy... That's the only thing I can think of to describe it.
When I first tried this perfume, I was smitten. It was so beautiful, lasted a long time, and was all around perfect. Soft caramel, vanilla, a little powdery... I remember this was in early December and I ended up buying myself a bottle for Christmas. I wore it well that winter :)
Then it kind of fell behind my other perfumes as spring rolled around and I wanted something floral. Next thing I knew, it was summer. I wanted to smell really attractive and opted to dust off the bottle and wear this. Unfortunately, I was chilly in my AC and outside it was the (literally) the hottest day of the year and was so humid... At the time, it was unbeknownst to me that this was a cold weather scent.
One thing led to another, and I totally ruined this scent for me. In the heat, all I got from it was THICK soapy amber. As you see above, this scent lasts a really long time. It gave me bad reminders and made me sick like I was that one day. I didn't even wear it once for the following fall and winter. Fast forward a year to present day, I just wore it last night. It can still (unfortunately) provoke the feeling of that hot day, but to those around me, they thought it was great.
It'll be great again :)
Long story short-- never ever ever EVER wear this if it's warm enough outside that you don't need a jacket.
Love this fragrance. Vanilla cream, caramel...yummy. This fragrance makes me hungry. Hmmmmmm....I'm thinking of vanilla cookies...YUM.
This is a very rich sweet caramel vanilla scent. It has hints of gardenia, jasmine, and amber, and a bit of a fruity note also, but the caramel vanilla is most prominent on my skin. It is a delightfully sweet gourmand fragrance for those times when that is exactly what you are in the mood for. Sillage is moderate, and longevity, on me, is quite good.
WARNING NEGATIVE REVIEW : take with grain of salt or skip.
I find Fancy, along with Fancy Love, to be far too chemical. The low price is too obvious. They both smell like corrosive cleaning products. At least Fancy Love dries down pretty. Original Fancy dries down to unpleasantly over ripe fruit and then it becomes vanilla and caramel, almost as nice as the smell from the bottle (which is super sweet) but still not as good. I really don't think it smells good on my skin, too cheap and too simple. It does not last long and goes through its development very quickly.
Fancy makes me fell yummy!
It's a delicious gourmand scent. On me, I can smell warm vanilla with a hint of chocolate (caramel?).
Lasting power is also great, at least it lasts about 8 hours on me.
However, you may want to wait for a while after the initial spray to smell the loveliness of Fancy.
Definitely a keeper for me. ;)
I really thought this would be good on me but too sweet! I wanted to like sweet scents but its not working on me. Trade anyone? It's fruity sweet. That's all I smell. After about 1 hour it's powdery. I should stick to citrusy scents.
Update:
So, it's grown on me. I like it now. Casual scent for work that keeps me cherry. Makes me feel clean and happy! Glad i kept it.
I tried this on recently and totally disliked the top notes. Too harsh! It's not so bad when it drys down, the carmella and vanilla take over, but nothing special. Sorry I couldn't say more.
One of the most synthetic, caustic, cheap-smelling fragrances I have yet to experience. Even with all of the congruent reviews, I still reprimanded myself for being a fragrance snob when I first smelled this, because I couldn't believe how harsh it was. I thought, "Maybe I've just smelled too many niche fragrances?" In case you haven't figured it out, I was a bit disappointed at first. Fancy has a sharp opening of tart red berries, pear, a wisp of apricot, and a touch of almond. The harshness dissipates, and the fragrance develops into a warm, comforting, rich, creamy, caramel vanilla, with subtle gardenia and jasmine. It reminds me of powdered jelly donuts covered with toasted almonds and drizzled with caramel. It exits the party leaving a faint aura of Play-Doh and powdered sugar. I concede that this fragrance is not particularly refined or delicately executed, and the notes seem to be compounded together, like a child's ice cream sundae after they've excitedly mixed all of the ingredients. But as a true gourmand lover, I'd be lying if I said I didn't enjoy this fragrance. When you need sweetness and coddling, you'll find it here. It really does grow on you. Longevity and sillage are excellent.
I brought Fancy a year and a half ago in a mini and my first & second applications give me really bad headaches so I showered it off both times! The third time was a charm and last fall and winter I went through two gift sets of Fancy,I was hooked and forever will be!!! I can't wait til the first cold snap so I can wear my signature fall/winter scent...
I got this scent as a present a couple of years ago and did just what the previous reviewer said not to, judged it before it settled. I didn't like it at all and tossed it in the back of my cosmetics cabinet. I rediscovered it about a year ago and tried it on, not remembering what it was like. I let it settle this time and loved it! I love the vanilla and caramela in it, it certainly is a sweet scent, but with some edge. It's a girls night out scent for me, although sometimes I wear it during the day too, so it works both ways.
Fancy is one of those scents that should not be judged until it has been given time to settle. When first sprayed, Fancy has a sharp, overripe smell to it, but after it has settled into the skin, it becomes smooth, sweet, feminine, and seductive. I get a little more vanilla from it than caramel, but the white flowers do a great job of balancing Fancy's sweetness. This smells a lot more expensive than it really is, and it is one of my favorite scents. It's a great date night perfume!
i adore this scent but it doesn't last on my skin =( the sweet fruit notes at the start remind me of villian but villian has more staying power so i'm thinking that will be my next buy...this frag smells fantastic but just doesn't go the distance on my skin...too bad
Fancy is my favorite Fall and winter scent. It's very sweet, like dessert, very caramely and "almondy" (as it has that almond note). The notes I can detect are, the caramel, vanilla, almonds, red berries, apricot, and amber. I never smell any florals or pick up on that much musk.
Fancy is perfect for a night out, or on a cool, or cold Fall or winter day. I also think it's perfect for work, if you're experiencing a stressful period of time, where you need to smell something sweet. However, I wouldn't wear it to a business meeting or anything like that. Please bear in mind that, it's a strong scent that projects very well, and is long lasting. I recommend only 1 sprtiz in your hair, or behind your ears, on your calves, etc.
So far, Fancy is my favorite "Fancy" from the "Fancy" collection. My second favorite is Fancy Nights.
I don't get the vanilla nor the caramel notes. The scent is nothing special (too common). It's good that I only got the very small bottle cause I dislike this perfume a lot and I'm a gourmand perfume lover (I just don't find the sweet notes)!
At first, a very artificial and chemical peach blast. I thought oh no, another blind buy gone wrong... But wait a minute. As it settles down on the skin and warms up, it turns into warm, smoky caramel and vanilla. This one is quite lovely, and gets better the longer it's on your skin. Sillage is good with 2 sprays, and it stays on all day. I think this one is a keeper :)
I've had this one for a while, and really like it, but for some reason it's hard to put my finger on what I smell in this one. The opening is a bit sharp for me; possibly the berries. Then I smell pears and jasmine, which are very sweet together, and still something sharp. After about 20 minutes it ends up with what I have for the rest of the time that it stays on: sweet vanilla and caramel with a fruity overtone. Very pretty, feminine, and I do love that it has good sillage. It lasts several hours on my skin, I'm able to smell it without having to put my nose right on my wrist, and all day on my clothes. One of my favorites.
I absolutely love this perfume: strong, very sweet, warm, longlasting (in my dry skin) and very good sillage and it smells so delicious. My congratulations J.S. !!!
I worked with a women’s fragrance sales associate who made me crazy. She was the sweetest person known to mankind but she was ignorant about the products she sold. Compound that ignorance with a liberal dousing of Fancy that could clear an entire department store. It really was enough to make any sane, Oriental Vanilla-genre-loving girl go off her rocker. Of course the vendors that came in loved that she reeked of Fancy. What they could not seem to comprehend was the fact that she was doing the fragrance no favors, turning both co-workers and customers off with her half-bottle marinade. It had taken a year for me to wipe that pungent memory from my mind and appreciate Fancy for what it is: a creamy, caramel vanilla that only deepens over the course of its wearing.
I got a coffret of travel-sized J. Simpson fragrances for my birthday. I set Fancy aside and figured I’d give it a proper try when I was mentally ready. Oh what a smoldering, smoky vanilla and creamy, buttery caramel treat! It reminded me of a simpler, unfussy, warm(er) weather-appropriate version of Escada’s Magnetism: take away the complex green elements and intricate matrix of flowers, only leaving behind a mildly tangy caramel-vanilla essence. Fancy doesn’t go through any radical phases or mind-altering changes like Magnetism, Prada Candy, or even Hard Candy. It quietly gets deeper and richer but does so without getting too sugary or artificial.
A half bottle of any fragrance is too much. If only my kind but stupid co-worker had realized this. I’m grateful I was able to revisit this scent again. It’s plenty strong enough to hold its own with two or three strategic sprays. I do not think Fancy should be restricted to an age range or a socioeconomic group. It should be worn and enjoyed by all for what it is—one of life’s simple pleasures.
When I first smelled this perfume I became obsessed. To me it smelled sooo much like cake! White cake with white butter cream frosting. I think at the time I was not eating sugar, so that might explain the obsession. Anyhow, I remained obsessed until I bought it. I still like it, I just don't love it. I think by body chemistry already turns things kind of sweet, so it might be too much with this fragrance. I still wear it, but not a lot. I think if I'd had it some years ago when I was 13-16 I would have worn it all the time!
Fancy is one of my top scents that i wear..it is exactly like flowerbomb but better because the sharpness you like in flowerbomb that doesn't last on the top notes actually lasts on this scent..i love flowerbomb more than fancy but because fancy can capture flowerbombs sharpness i love it more and the price is way better! To me the way fancy love is described remindes me more of what this scent smells like because to me it smells like a sharp peaches, cream and champagne smell and its loud and lasts long. I adore this scent and i can't live without it.I have not tried fancy love and am curious to buy that scent since this smells so vanilla good.Very balance i love fresh explosive scents.Very comforting.
Update:This is a citrus vanilla explosion...it lasts so long and it is so beautiful...i have fancy love too and i think this is way better because i love citrus vanilla over orange creamsicle...you will not be dissappointed in this line it is the best of the best...Rihanna is the next best one as far as moving up in a more mature celebrity scent..
Smells like powered donuts. Avoid at all costs if you're dieting because it did nothing but make me crave cake, cookies and waffles. If you're looking to snag a policeman or two then this is the one for you! Mmmmmmmmm.... donuts, mmmmmm.....
So I am one of the many that find the top notes hit a sharp chord and enjoy the drydown, middle creaminess much more. I may have missed a review, but has anyone noticed that B&B's Forever Sunshine smells a lot like
this with the apricot top and sandlewood base. B&B is discontinuing FS, so grab some lotion and shower gel while you can. Nice fall combination and the lotion seems to mellow out the "edge" on the top end. I stored my 3.4oz bottle in the dark and this will be the third summer/autumn and it smells great still. I like it because I like it and even though I love some Prada, I will not pay the price tag for the 20 minutes that Candy lasts on me. Good job, Ms. Simpson.
I've been hunting down this perfume for a while now because of all the glorious reviews comparing Fancy to Stardust. Stardust is a discontinued fragrant from victoria's secret. I do smell a resemblance between the two. Fancy has more aldehyde at the opening note and it is more cloying sharp than Stardust. Although they are similar and wonderful smelling, I simply cannot endure Fancy because it is so cloying and cause a massive headache for me. It's too bad because I love Stardust so much and hoping to replace it with Fancy. If you like caramel candies, you may like this fragrant. It smells like being in a candy factory.
Fancy, Love, You, and Vintage Bloom are all on pre-order at Nordstrom. Jessica is moving on up. I really enjoy her line so good for her. : )
I hunted down this perfume, eagerly hoping for the next Pink Sugar confectionary delight. Boo. Too much fruit and floral, not nearly enough warm caramel or vanilla. It's sweet, but not in a hot cookie, warm caramel, vanilla cream way. The sandalwood and fruit are too dominant, with only whispers of the warmer scents. If you're looking for a truly amazing caramela fragrance, Omnio Profumo - Madera can't be beat.
@vlann: Thank you. That's encouraging. I shall stick with it. I've had it stored away, because I liked it just a little too much to get rid of it. :-)
warm, rich and lasting. not much more i can add to the rave reviews of this luscious perfume. i love this sweetie and can't get enough of it!
@catsngunsnyarn: I've experienced the same problem with you. The fact is, the first time I tried Fancy, it's all about vanilla and caramel. Then I stopped using it for several months.
When I began to use it again, I got the exactly sharp smell of floral that is nauseating. I found out that while the drydown stayed the same, I just couldn't keep up with that sharp blast in the first 5-15 minutes.
I detested it at all and once again stopped using it.
Finally after a year, I took it out from the shelve and start spraying it for another chance. And, voila. The sharp smell disappeared and the sweet scent come back just like the first time I sniffed it.
I guess it has something to do with either humidity, weather, or your skin Ph (though I myself am not so sure about it)
So it's been quite a hello-goodbye story between me and Fancy. But we managed to get along well yet again in the end ;)
I enjoyed JS's "Fancy Love", so when I found this on clearance, I gave it a try. Expecting this to be a Pink Sugar of sorts, I sprayed what I thought would be a little that turned out to be a huge blast and - oh my God - it was a chemically, cheap, saccharine assault on my senses so sickingly sweet and cloying it would send Paula Deen and her sugar-coated fried butter balls running for the nearest exit. I walked around all day smelling like Bath and Body Works during Christmas and the candy store in a cheap shopping mall. The first hour or two of sharp fruity heady floral apricot vanilla was the most unpleasant, I had a mild headache and had to resist scrubbing my wrists all day to see if I could get to the pleasant drydown that everyone was talking about. The perfume's vanilla caramel drydown was more tolerable, if you could call it that, but it still was so artifically sweet and chemically that I couldn't wait to scrub it off the next day - and scrub off it did not. Needless to say, it gets points for longevity. This one can't be applied with a heavy hand - lightly sprayed on clothing in the winter or fall would be the best approach.
*EDIT: The other day my co-worker was wearing a delicious vanilla perfume. Another co-worker came up to us and asked us if we had an air freshener nearby, because something smelled really good, like cake. It was my co-worker, she was wearing Fancy. Proof that some perfumes are better on some people than others ;)
I normally stay way clear of celebrity purfumes...find them cheap and typical but found this one on clearance and could not resist and I can't believe how much I like it. Super pretty scent with excellent longevity and you gotta love that price point. Happy with this scent and would even repurchase.
High Five to Jessica Simpson who converted this 'perfume snob' and opened her eyes to all scents. :)
I got this as a blind buy in 2008. Well, okay, maybe not quite so blind, because I liked the scent strip that I tore out of my Allure magazine. Anyway - I'm on the fence about this one. I get more of a sharp floral than any of the almond, apricot, caramel, or vanilla. I wish it was more foody and sweet than floral on me.
Although it is a sweet and warm frag, to me, it is a perfect autumn fragrance. I think it might be the apricot in it (I associate apricots with autumn) but it smells delicious! The scent, along with the bottle makes me think about wearing a pretty trenchcoat and diving into a big o'l pile of leaves in the forest or park! LOL
I have now finished my 100ml EDP, and I want another one! I have to admit that I really like this one! I may love it. It is just right, peach syrup with caramel & a touch of almond; not almond overload Thank Goodness (too much almond makes me feel queasy). I like it for work....very pleasant without being overpowering, great price, has a peaceful happiness about it. Not nearly as sweet as Pink Sugar, and no cotton candy smell at all. The comparison to Pink Sugar is an odd one to me. Very juicy.
this smells very similar to pink sugar in my opinion. very sweet and creamy. not my thing though.
My favorite part of the scent is the first 3 hours, absolutely delicious, I get pear and apricot nectar and a whole lot of caramel for the first 20mins, soon after the gardenia peeks through the fruity-caramel syrup, adding a new dimension to the scent. All the notes in this scent seem to be dipped in caramel. And I adore caramel and pear notes, so this is gourmand-scent heaven to me. Yummy, sparkling, uber-feminine, and very, very sweet. Gourmand but not 'juvenile', It has very good sillage, but it's not a heavy scent.
The only down-side is after about 4-5 hours the scent turns into a very generic and powdery plain vanilla which fortunately wears close to the skin...not a bad smell, but it smells like vanilla-cake-mix, very far from being as beautiful as the first few hours. This generic vanilla scent that develops in the dry-down lasts forever and a day, so you basically get to smell like vanilla cake mix all day. To some, I imagine this can be nauseating, and I myself can only tolerate this in the dead of winter. Pink Sugar has exactly the opposite effect on me, I don't like the first few hours, but the dry-down of PS is delicious. I also very much prefer Fantasy's drydown to Fancy.
Still, the first few hours makes this a worthy re-purchase for me. But I'm still on the look out for a scent that smells similar to the first few hours of Fancy minus the cake-mix drydown.
Out of Jessica's perfume range so far this one has to be the winner ( Gold Medal ). Its just sheer innocence maybe a good perfume for anyone who is starting out trying there first perfume. I just find it so easy to wear with its caramel and sweetness. Thumbs up!
On me this smells of light caramel, vanilla and powder. It is a pleasant scent that I wish would have a little more sillage as it is harder to smell on my skin unless you are close. It is very calming and delicious scent that I appreciate more each time I use it.
I love this JS perfume.
The initial spray on my skin comes out pure caramel, sweet and yummy! Then it dries down to a luscious blend of caramel, amber and some floral notes ... hints of vanilla are detectable, too. If I have to describe it in one word, it's going to be DELICIOUS!
This fragrance is warm and cozy ... like a delectable, velvety hug of sweetness and sensuality. I'd love to cuddle with this scent anytime!
To respond to fellow Fragrantica member, byerscashmere's inquiry: On my skin it really comes out like luscious warm caramel and longevity on me is pretty good, about 5 hours.
The top notes of this fragrance are really fresh and bright than it dries down to warm caramel sweetness that reminds me of Viva La Juicy.
I have mixed feelings about this fragrance, but overall it is not for me. It begins as an odd combination of red berries, pear, vanilla and something smoky. At this stage it smells sweet and a bit generic (although not nearly as sweet as I had expected), and I can’t make out distinct fruit notes. There is something rather artificial and plastic smelling during the first couple of hours of wear, although I can’t put my finger on what exactly it is. Nonetheless, it bothers me. Both the vanilla and the fruits smell synthetic, making Fancy rather cloying. It’s worth noting that this has impressive sillage and staying power, which is obviously a plus if you enjoy the scent.
Once it gets into the drydown, it’s more enjoyable. It morphs into a more natural-smelling gourmand, and the plastic and sharp smoky accords go away. It smells like a rich vanilla cake with ice cream and fruit topping. It's definitely sweeter in the drydown than it is during the first couple of hours of wear. Although I like this fragrance after it passes the artificial top- and mid-notes, I wouldn’t purchase it. There are plenty of fruity vanilla fragrances in the same vein (including some that are just as inexpensive) that smell more natural and well-made.
SO YUMMYYYYY. Off the bat I smell caramel and in about a minute the fruits come out and YUMMMMYYYY. Can't put my finger on it..... Like an ice cream Sunday with caramel syrup and maraschino cherries decorated with some apricot/peach sauce? It's basically what I imagine willy wonka's garden to smell like!
The best part of this perfume is its not a teeny bopper frag..... It's a delicious adult fragrance. Not something id wear to the club or bar, as there's nothing sultry about it but its definitely a date/cuddle fragrance. Smells really nothing like anything else.... Much more sophisticated and personal then fantasy and what pink sugar would smell like if it succeeded in smelling good (the licorice in it is SO repulsive)
The caramel/vanilla creme gives it warmth, the cherries give it a fresh sweetness and the apricot and peach lend it a perfect amount of fruitiness. Bravo, Jessica!
i love me some vanilla and this one is a v yummy vanilla.it is literally mouthwatering.i love how it smells.i feel v edible wearing this one.
Simply gorgeous! Fancy fits the bill for so many. It can be worn by the young and flirty girl and the mature and sexy woman. It's very fruity sweet when first sprayed but it develops into a rich soft, vanilla/sandalwood/caramel. This perfume is strong and 2 sprays last me at least 6 hours. I think it's better suited for winter days and I love how it lingers on the sleeves and neck line of my sweater. I've been wearing it in warmer weather too and with a light hand it works. This is one of my favorite scents and I'm glad I have a big bottle of it. Highly recommend for sweets and vanilla lovers.
I was pleasantly surprised with this perfume! This is another gourmand fragrance that stands out in a very pleasant way. This is for vanilla lovers who want a bit more complexity and subtlety to their perfume.
I think the name "Fancy" is very fitting. While this is a sweet scent, I think it's a sweet scent that can be pulled off at fancier events. My nose picks up on the vanilla, caramel, and some of the fruits and florals, but it's ultimately the sandalwood and the amber that tie everything together wonderfully. There's a light powdery touch to this perfume that adds sophistication to it. It's quite wonderful!
Very beautiful scent. I find it like no other, really. The first thing I smell is tobacco, and not in a bad way; in a smokey, sexy way. I smell warmth, apricots, light caramel. I do not get the sweet vanilla bakery or cake smell that others describe, although I do get a sugary scent. Really, really pretty, with perfect sillage and longevity. guaranteed to get compliments. well worth the price.
This was a blind purchase I made based off reviews. It's a very pretty and girly scent, but it's not quite as sweet or "bakery" smelling as I expected. I also find it slightly on the boring side, but despite those things, it is still a pleasant scent. I do smell all of the notes listed on there, but it just smells like something I've had before. Nothing out of the ordinary. I think its a pretty safe purchase (esp for blind buyers) but it may not be your thing. I will wear this and be happy with it, but I don't see myself buying another bottle when it runs out.
At first I didn't like this perfume as I bought it blindly based on the reviews here saying how it smelled of cakes and all sorts of yummy baked goods. When I received my 30ml bottle I was met with apricots and pears laced with soft vanilla scent... It wasn't what I expected so I put it away and pretty much hated it for the fact it just wasn't as sweet as I imagined.
Once I got over the imagination, I smelled it for what it is and found that my nose picks up much more caramel this time and I'm loving it more and more. My bottle is going really quick because you pretty much won't need to worry about over applying, it's just such a pleasant, sweet yet light scent that I feel won't offend anyone :) I reach for it more and more.
Sweet, apricots, pears, with vanilla and caramel :) Girly flirty and yet I feel that it has some level of sophistication! I would wear it anywhere really!
I must also warn you not to listen to the reviews saying that it's sugary and overly sweet. It won't be half as sweet as you will expect if you buy it blind so if you're looking for a sugar fix, skip this.
I love love love this perfume,The first sniff smells like caramel cake with fruit pieces amd nuts on it.Then after about 1 hour or 2 it turns into this lovely warm vanilla scent. one of my favorites <3
Sweet Warm vanilla funnel Cake with whipped cream and carmel on top..such a sweet fragrance the vanilla is so warm.
Tried a sample of this at the mall. I was smeling my clothes for the rest of the day. I only sprayed once and it lasted ALL DAY. So I went out and bought a whole bottle. (went through the whole bottle in a few short weeks! :) LOVE IT
This, to me, smells like a fruity caramel :) like chewy caramel square bites with red berry pieces. It's just the image that comes to my mind when I smell this on my wrist! Haha, although i've never seen caramel with fruit pieces in it b4 like nougats with nuts and fruits!
Fancy is like a giant caramel/ vanilla cupcake decorated in flowers.
I had to try it out after reading the reviews and what can I say? It's extremely sweet and dessert-like. The caramel is the most intense, heavy scent on me but there's a hint of fruit and flowers in there as well.
I think it's definitely for someone in their teens or early 20's, I don't think I could pull this off (it kind of burns my nostrils), but the bottle is really pretty!
P.S. I don't think Fancy smells at all like Burberry Brit- Brit is sweet but much more multi-faceted and grown-up than Fancy, with a crisp citrus note to balance out the sweetness.
Lovely scent, but like so many other fragrances of this day and age, DOES NOT LAST BEYOND 30 MINUTES. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!!!
I just find out that Fancy is the child of BBW Warm Vanilla Sugar and Halle Berry Halle, that means, Fancy has both the sweetness and creaminess of BBW Warm Vanilla Sugar and the darkness and sexiness and the "mature" of Halle Berry Halle. Thank God that Fancy does not have the too black pungent smell of Halle Berry Halle which makes Halle a bit "older". Also, BBW Warm Vanilla Sugar is still too simple and a bit brighter than Fancy which makes BBW WVS more suitable for young girls ( younger than 22 ). Fancy to me is for ladies 22-40 years old with sweet and warm heart who are in fact grown-ups inside out yet their souls are still not "aging" much.
Wow, this is for gourmand lovers only I think. Opens sweet, with caramel already jumping out, with tons of red berries. The gardenia does come forward, to give this a floral undertone and this all remains fairly linear throughout, with vanilla growing more and more in strength. At the very end it smells like cake icing.
This stuff has very serious sillage, I had on one spray and that was absolutely plenty. Staying power too is unbelievable. This does feel quite young, and the way it wears on my skin does remind me of the fruity sweet fragrances worn by most young teenagers. But if you like gourmand, this is a great buy.
Although I am not a fan of Jessica Simpson per se, I love this fragrance. Sweet, warm and sensuous, Parlux did a great job with Fancy. The caramel, vanilla and almond just wraps around the skin perfectly. This fragrance has received many compliments when worn.
Fancy by no means smells cheap! It is very sweet, but it's a more warm sweet frag, not sickly sweet. I get compliments every time I wear this! I also like fancy love, because they are totally different, that's what I lover about Jessica simpsons fragrances, none of th smell even similiar.
It is good but not great perfum. It smells very similar to Burberry Brit as some people have reviwed yet.
It smells like caramel, vanilla, almonds, cheap flowers and cheap fruits. It is good but cheap smell. Burberry Brit is much better. The same sweetness with some citrus to break the sweatness and without the cheap flowers and cheap fruits.
Great lastinG power! Cheap price (and cheap smell). I do not recomend, I recomend Brit.
This is one of my absolute favorite perfumes - a very sweet, yet rich, gourmand vanilla-laced caramel with hints of soft florals, juicy fruits and decadent cream. I don't find this scent overly "foody" - I think the floral and slightly more tart fruits keep it from being too cloyingly sweet and cupcake-like. But it *is* sweet, though more in a warm, comforting way.
And it has amazing staying power - I can still smell it on my skin hours and hours later. I also find it to be quite an attention-getter. I often get asked what I am wearing when I have on Fancy, and many tell me I smell wonderful.
So if you are a fan of sweet and gourmand scents, this is definitely one you should have in your collection.
this is one of the best sweet scents..it contains caramel, vanilla..unlike some purely sweet perfumes..Fancy also contains some beautiful floral notes..makes it quite unique and sophisticated
gorgeous bottle with nice details..i got a 100ml the first time when i saw the bottle and smelt the scent..
my hubby adores it..probably his fav among all my perfumes..he always compliments how nice i smell when I wear it..i bet he falls for the caramel vanilla notes..i also get compliments from others..love Fancy because it is not another generic gourmand fragrance..
excellent staying power 5-6 hours easily..a beautiful and youthful girly scent..decent quality..don't even mention how affordable it is..i would not hesitate to pay more for it..if you wanna smell good.wear it..
Thank you Mad-Lainey! Love your review! That had to be said. Fancy is syrupy-sugary (CARAMEL) heaven, but for those who find those type of scents even the slightest bit annoying, you will finally meet your syrupy-sugary gourmand hell! If you hate smelling like caramel, candy, ice cream and cupcakes, stay away from this one...seriously...it's so sweet you could get diabetes just by sniffing it. Me? I LOVE it! And what I love most is that it doesn't smell 'juvenile' or 'tween-y'. If you are a fan of Can Can, Viva La Juicy, Fantasy and Pink Sugar, you need to try this one. I also agree with Mad-Lainey that Pink Sugar/Delicious Cotton Candy may be the only fragrances that are more gourmand than Fancy. However Fancy is more of a concentrated caramel-vanilla sweetness without that bitter licorice edge you smell in Pink Sugar...so yes, to my nose Fancy is actually *sweeter* than Pink Sugar (nothing bitter, nothing sour), with a vanilla-caramel powdered-sugar drydown.
And those who loved the older formulation of The Body Shop's vanilla perfume oil, you should try Fancy too, Fancy is the closest match I've come across so far, the share a similar nectar-y sweetness.
To all members using 'yuck' and other related words to describe this fragrance:
Did you actually look at notes description and olfactive group type before your tried it and wrote comments that put me off from having dinner tonight?
I didn't think so :-)
I consider it rather obvious that a fragrance with majority of edible notes, including typical sweet gourmand notes would actually smell...hmmm...gourmand?
I am not sure what some of you expected... Did you expect it to smell chypre or aldehydic? No! Probably becuase the fragrance was supposed to suit minority of us with a sweet tooth :-)
Since I am not an aldehyde fan (to say the least), I stay clear from such olfactive group as I suspect any closer relationship with such fragrances would become a disaster of biblical proportions.
I don't like the group and stay away from such fragrances. Simple as that :-)
-----------------------------------------------------
To all of you Folks who, on the other hand, have as sweet tooth as me:
This is a winner - let's give thanks to the manufacturer for making the atomizer so difficult to tamper with, as otherwise I would have drunk the whole 100ml in one go and begged for more.
Fancy is absolutely tasty; I cannot imagine a better proportioned caramel, vanilla, berries and pear combo than this.
Only Delicious Cotton Candy can be more gourmand than this :-)
Fancy has also outstanding silage and lasting power, it is still very much detetctable after 6 hours and can be easily recognized within a 2-3 feet radius :-)
The only downside is that I cannot imagine wearing it in hot summer days.
On winter frosty mornings, however, it will take you to an enchanted place where your great grandma winks at you while taking the most delicious caramel cakes topped with almond flakes and berries from the oven...
Personality: Feminine, lovable, charming, warm, innocent.
Age: 18-35
Scent: Sugared pear, caramel, vanilla and a hint of gardenia...the dry-down is a cozy, powdery, 'almost edible' vanilla. Very sweet! This is a slightly more mature sweetness compared to Fantasy and it's less fruity. I would say that its sweetness is more comparable to Can Can, just with caramel instead of fruits...so if you love Fancy you would love Can Can...and if you love Can Can and adore caramel-vanilla notes, this is a must-try for you.
When: Fall, winter and spring. Day or night. Definitely NOT a scent for warm days.
Where: Best for casual-settings, but it can be worn to the office if applied very discretely.
Sillage/Longevity: Medium Sillage (be careful not to overspray this one, it can definitely get cloying), Very Good Longevity (8-9 hours).
I wouldn't normally get something this sweet, but I wanted a change. I usually go for light florals with a powder undertone. I've only wore this a couple of times and the vanilla sweetness makes me a little sick to my stomach.
I love this one so much!! Just got it today, always loved Fancy Love but this one is almost even better, caramel and vanilla overload, makes me want to eat ice cream! :)) One of the best celebrity perfumes ever!
Fancy is not one of those vanilla scents that smell like candles (eg. VS's Vanilla Lace, TBS's Vanilla EDT), or burnt plastic (eg. Pink Sugar, Gaultier 2), or play-doh (eg. Hypnotic Poison)...and for that I love it!
It's soft, syrupy sweet and feminine with good longevity and a pleasant sillage...it's very affordable too :) I always get compliments when I wear it and I'm so glad it's not as popular as Fantasy. Fancy is vanilla with caramel and pears, very feminine, for all ages, not immature or vulgar at all (definitely more grown-up compared to Fantasy and Pink Sugar), just delicious and very pretty. Yes the scent is very reminiscent of cupcakes, caramel syrup and ice cream! It's not a light scent but it's not a heavy scent either, so I find it wearable for most seasons...my favorite season to wear it is springtime, when it smells its best :)
i cant stand this one anymore it is too sweet i have a lil in my bottle i won't repurchase i will stic to fancy love.
Rich and creamy melted vanilla ice cream with dark, sweet caramel swirls.
I don't know why the ice cream's melted, but that's what comes to my mind when I smell this.
Usually I'm not a huge fan of gourmand with strong vanilla, but there's just something so alluring and comforting about this scent to me.
I have a love/hate relationship with this perfume. I am thinking that right now I hate it. It can be very cloying and the gardenia overpowering. It is sweet but not necessarily in a good way. I can only tolerate it in small doses since it is VERY strong. I got a really bad headache off this once and immediately had to remove my clothes and take a shower. It was that bad. I think the bottle is pretty but I just never reach for it. I always prefer to wear other scents.
----------
EDIT:
It's been a while but I just sniffed my bottle and I have to say I'm really liking it. What's up with that? This is definitely the scent I am the most "bipolar" about. Weird.
I bought this blindly after reading many great reviews and was hoping for a yummy, sweet treat. Unfortunately Fancy did not deliver. Upon first spray I caught something fruity/flowery but thought just give it some time for the vanilla/caramel notes to rise. They never did. All I could(and can two hours later) smell is a light powdery scent. When I say light I mean so light that I have to really shove my nose against my skin to even detect it. I am truly bummed! Skin/body chemistry is such an interesting thing. I've learned the hard way ($$$$$) that buying blindly just is not a smart decision for me. ***Continuing on my quest to find a perfect yummy, sweet treat for me to wear***
AYYYY YIIIIIII YIIIIIIIII! I finally, finally gave in and purchased a bottle of this blindly even though I've yet to find a celebrity fragrance that I care for. After reading the reviews a dozen times, and seeing it recommended at least once on almost every thread, I decided to dive in head first and give it a shot. Why the hell not? I deserve one overly sweet, gourmand girly-girl fragrance right? I rush to the car, open it up, spray, and sniff... nothing??? Confused, I spray again and still NOTHING! After 5 sprays and Fancy leaking down my arms I still cannot smell a single thing! I can't even tell it's there and wouldn't believe it if I hadn't sprayed it myself! Thinking I was crazy I grabbed the mini of Victoria's Secret Very Sexy out of my purse and spritz it on the other arm and I smelled that one just fine. I'm obviously anosmic (I believe this is the word) to it. Needless to say I will be returning it :(
I decided to go for a tiny bottle of Fancy because I'm such a fan of Fancy Nights(much to my surprise.) Fancy's not bad.....SO sweet but not disgustingly so. I can't pick out any particular note other than caramel, amber and very slight undertones of pear and jasmine. What comes to mind is slightly burnt cotton candy and soap...sweet and clean. To my nose,it smells almost identical to Escada Magnetism. There's something lacking for me though in Fancy....depth I think, nothing spicy here.Seems to last several hours and isn't easily scrubbed off. If you like super sweet, long lasting scents...this could be a winner but I definitely like Fancy Nights better.
I absolutely love this scent and i've been wearing it for about 3 years now. It is a really nice and sophisticated scent even though it's technically a "gourmand" scent. I've received so many compliments on this and my boyfriend absolutely loves it, he says it smells like lemon bars on me. It just smells delicious and well..fancy.
i love this scent for winter and fall. the main notes that come out on me the most are its almond and caramel and vanilla. but mostly the caramel. man, that caramel sure is SWEET! sometimes a little too sweet and it lingers on my scarves and clothes and can become somewhat cloying, at times. im not saying i have a love/hate relationship with Fancy by any means. im just saying that i find that i have to be in the mood for Fancy, but when i am...oh! how i love to wear this scent. when i first got it, i would spray it on my pillow before i fell asleep, even after wearing it all day.
for those who find this perfume too overpowering, just try the good old "Spray, Delay, and Walk Away" method.
i couldnt see myself wearing this scent during the warmer months, but since i live in the San Francisco area, sometimes a cold night or two will blow through in the summer and only then would i spray a little on myself. i was pleasantly surprised to find that i really loved this celebrity scent. in fact, it is the celeb scent that opened me up to trying others. pretty cool. im too new to the perfume world, with my untrained nose, to become a perfume snob anyway. HAPPY HUNTING!
SCENT: 6/10
SILLAGE: 7/10
LONGEVITY: 8/10
I love this scent so much but cant wear anymore because of my allergies. So mad!! Now off to find a new signature
The weather is getting a little warmer in my part of the world as winter reaches its end, temperature is going up to around 18-22 degrees Celsius. IMO, Fancy smells even better this time of the year, sillage is better and it smells richer too, with the fruitiness and caramel sugar coming through. I'm getting even more compliments and not a single complaint. My fiancee loves it and has loved it since he first smelled it on me. Even my father who usually does not tolerate perfumes commented positively on this one 'You smell like sweet jellies!' with a wide smile on his face. Fancy was alot more subdued and linear when I wore it in temperatures below 10 degrees Celsius, so I love it even more now. I guess this will be more of a spring or fall scent for me. It's too much for hot days but also not 'thick' enough for cold days.
still so weird to me that some people actually smell flowers of any kind in here. to me, it smells like a caramel machiato with extra caramel drizzle over the extra foam. its lip-smacking delicious but only for the winter. .... maybe u can pull it off in the summer w/ the rollerball just lightly on your wrists, but i wouldnt want to drink a caramel machiato in 90 degree weather, let alone wear it ..
ohmygosh i love this! Another comfort scent... love the almonds and caramel, with the cozy vanilla. Definitely a cold weather scent for me. Compliments galore when I wear it, and it's just an uplifting yummy scent that lingers for a long time. Good stuff!
This smelled so good when I took a whiff from the bottle, but it was another story when I sprayed it once on my wrist. It didn't give me a headache, but it made me nauseous and it hurt to breathe. I don't even have asthma and I thought I was going to need an inhaler.
I bought this cuz I thought it would be sweet (on the candy side)... it IS sweet, but on the floral side... not gourmand at all. Heavy and cloying. No fruit at all... to my nose anyways.
I end up spraying Pink Sugar on top of it to cut the white flower sickening sweet and throw some sugary sweet in there... weird, I know.
Drydown does reveal amber, and the floral gets better... less heavy. But by that time it is so close to the skin, who cares.
For the reasons I bought it... it does little for me. Thank goodness it was reasonably cheap.
Edit: I tried this again today, and it smells totally different to me. Much more caramel and amber than I detected before. And I must say, I really like it now. Not sure what was going on with me when I first tried it. It is still not as sweet as I like, but many might find that nice. And, unlike my normal disdain for powdery scents, I have found that I like a sweet powder on dry down, and this one does that. I don't detect floral today at all. Oh, and if there is fruit, I have not been able to detect it on either application. Maybe that will come out when I try it a third time! *grin*
Just goes to show you... perfumes are all about mood, chemistry, time of day and season.
Edit #2: Tried my first Hanae Mori Hanae Mori today... kept thinking, I KNOW this scent... finally it hit me... HM HM and JS Fancy are close cousins on the dry down... sweet powder. Not a bad thing. JS Fancy, when doing a wrist comparison, has a tobacco leafy note and the caramel... but the dry down is very reminiscent of HM HM. I think HM has that sweeter powder that I was looking for and that I was referring to in my first edit...
I'm not sure I get the reviews on here. This doesn't really smell that carmelly or gourmand to me. After 6 hours, I still can pretty much only smell white florals overpowering everything. Sure, some caramel is there, but I can barely smell it through the flowers.
I was curious about this perfume because I love gourmand scents and I heard this one was a "must-have" in your wardrobe if you are a gourmand lover like me. I happened to be at Ross and checked out the perfume section. It was $24 for 3.4 ounces. Now I'm pretty sure you can't beat that price, so I went for it. I figured if I didn't like it, I could find a home for it.
Anyways, so I bought it and sprayed it on immediately. It was quite a blast of white flowers. I was a little confused because I had heard that this scent was soooo sweet. I didn't get that. I got sweet white flowers and a little fruit in the background. It did dry down to more of a sugary caramel scent, but not nearly as sweet as had been described in many reviews.
Overall, I am liking it more as it develops on my skin. To be honest, you can kinda tell it's not the most quality perfume ever, and there is some weird note that I can't pinpoint, but for some reason it works and I am finding myself craving more. I've got 3.4 ounces I will probably never finish, but for that price, I am quite happy and I think it's a good buy if you are looking for a decent-quality but not superb quality perfume. It's quite strong so a little goes a long way!
I thought it was going to be a deep rich vanilla and caramel scent. Nope, Fancy is very fruity sweet, quite light on my skin. The sweetness and fruity is just enough to reminds me... of a bug spray. A bit disappointed because I've had a bit more expectation for this scent...
If you like sweet scents, this is perfect. It kinda smells like an spicy, oriental vanilla cupcake. A warm scent. Lasting power is quite good aswell.
I bought this a couple of years ago for cheap.
Sure it smells like vanilla etc, but the annoying part of it is tabacco. Does anyone else smell it? It drives me crazy, & NOT IN A GOOD WAY. Thanks!
Smells like candy being thrown into your face ( in a good way though). It's pretty strong and lasts quite a long time on my body. The only thing is, it smells kinda generic. I can spray this on my body and onto my sister's body and we'd both end up smelling the same. Good perfume mixes and mingles with each person's body chemistry and this perfume doesn't do that.
This should be called candy! Love this still and always
Hm, I really wanted to like this. I got the 0.25 oz purse bottle- very cute and small and so darn handy.
Something about the pear and the caramel that doesn't blend all that great on my skin, unfortunately. The caramel really stands out, but with my chemistry unfortunately it does smell like caramel that burned on the stove.
Sillage is excellent, seems to last forever on scarves.
I don't dislike it and on the right person it's probably much lovelier, but it doesn't work with me, becoming a part of me in a way, it is always like something that wears me and not in a good way- some perfumes can wear you and it works.
Something I would reach for in winter, decorating the tree.
Heavenly! Ooooh. This is a cozy, warm comforting scent <3
I've owned this for about a year now and I've only fallen more in love with it.
The first time i tested this i didnt wait for the scent to dry onto my skin so i was let down by the strong, seemingly ordinary top notes. It took quite a while to reach the beautiful part of this scent, BUT IT IS WORTH THE WAIT and im so glad that i didnt miss out on this one! :D
~TIPS~
.1 Spray onto you hair brush and brush into ur hair makes the scent last longer and your hair small ahhhmazing and it doesnt damage(hasnt damaged my own) this goes for all perfumes.
.2 If you feel as if the scent is overbearing at times, after all this is such a strong perfume, its best not to spray too near the skin (when the skin is dripping wet with the perfume) let it be more if a mist.Spray and walk into it
.3 If ur interested in testing/buying this fragrance dont judge it at the first sniff, letting it dry down is very important with this one!
With a love of caramel and almond I bought this blindly expecting to fall in love with it, seeing as I love sweet, warm and spicy notes in a perfume. I tried to love it, honestly, I gave it enough chances! But to my nose this smells like rotting fruit with a hint of gardenia. The warm caramel smell doesnt appear for a few hours and it's just not worth it! The bottle is pretty (heavy too!) but I think i'm going to sell this on ebay later and choose another one, because I just don't enjoy the smell of thid on me!
There is certainly nothing new in Jessica Simpson FANCY. This is one among hundreds of inexpensive synthetic sandalwood vanilla fragrances launched by designers and celebrities looking to cash in on their fame. These compositions differ primarily in the quality of their components and lower quality versions tend to smell gross on my skin after only a couple of hours. Unfortunately, FANCY seems cheaper than average, as it starts to smell rather unpleasant within minutes.
I see that there is a lot of love for this fragrance, so I would like to observe here that I do not categorically dismiss all celebrity perfumes. There are serious quality differences between this one and Britney Spears BELIEVE or MIDNIGHT FANTASY or the four Kat Von D launches which I recently reviewed. This Parlux product seems to be made with components at about the level of Coty non-prestige launches such as Halle Berry HALLE. I am sorry but this is simply too low for my nose and very unpleasant to wear on my skin.
I acquired a set of Jessica Simpson rollerballs out of curiosity and have worn these fragrances a few times now. FANCY, in particular, makes me pine seriously for a bath. I haven't looked at the ingredients, but I'm guessing that this one packs a wallop of BHT. Totally not for me under any possible circumstances. I would much rather wear water than this. Désolée.
2nd review :
This is not a negative review ,, I had this perfume & I still love it BUT :
This kind of perfume can be amazing on some people ..
and can be horrible on others.
Too much depends on the chemistry, not good for Blind buy at all ..
I am dying everyday from my coworker who is wearing it ,, it SMELLS AS ONION/GARLIC on her !! YUK
I have finally found my signature scent.
Love love love this perfume.
At first i wasn't sure if i liked it too much as the sandalwood kinda hits you in the face but after wearing it for one day i simply fell in love.
It dries down to a beautiful warm caramel and vanilla scent thats not musky but light and delicate.
I have finally found my signature scent.
Love love love this perfume.

I love this perfume! It smells like sweet cream cake, with caramel filling! My fav yummy smell.
I did not like this perfume at all, too strong and sickly, gave me a headache!
I bought this as a blind buy based on reviews. I was expecting something a little more gourmand. You could smell the caramel and vanilla, but my sensitive nose couldn't get past the gardenia....a little disappointing.
This fragrance makes me feel soft, comfortable and delicious! I generally like sweet fragrances, and perhaps it is because of this that I don't find this overly sweet at all. I definitely get pear and caramel with this, but it doesn't scream anything overly gourmand or sickly. It dries down to a lovely warm, powdery and feminine scent.
Way too sweet! Like a ton of melted, sticky caramel poured over cotton candy.
This gives me a headache! I prefer Viva La Juicy.
OMG I am in LOVE with this perfume I think its for winter because the scent is strong so thats why I think it goes with winter
Just purchased at Walgreen's for $29.99. Love it! Sweet and girly. When I put it on, my first sniff was a bit too juicy-fruit gum for me, but not bad. The dry down reminded me of a southern wedding: orange blossoms and a big white vanilla cake with buttercream frosting. True, it's not super-sophisticated, but Fancy's lack of pretension is part of it's charm. A little goes a long way and seems to last for quite a while. For the price, I think Fancy is a great buy. My husband also LOVES it on me-but he does have a sweet tooth and said I smelled "like a cake". Adorable little bottle too.
Really fun and yummy. It basically smells like a bakery in a bottle. Fruity? Haha ... I detect no fruity notes whatsoever.
if this had a taste and was a dessert, vanilla, orange and caramel cake with an orange blossom garnished on the top would be it! and like my Fantasy by Britney this one is also another I get so many compliments on
depending on the person this can be pretty fancy for something super dessert sweet but in a way that wont come off as Tweenish! or it can just be flat out sickeningly sweet to those who aren't into sugary scents
this scent in my opinion is too heavy for warm weather so I'd just use this as a winter scent
downfall? strong! so what ever you do, enjoy this fragrance in small doses! this can seriously give someone or you a headache if you have too much of this on
The Caramel definitely stands out for me the most! I really love this scent!! Can't wait to get it!
First I was very confused by reviews here lol.
Some really love it, while some hate it...
I just got it a few days ago...and I LOVEEEEEEEEEEEE IT!!!>_____________< so much! It's exactly what I have been looking for.
I've always love the sweet perfume types such as Miss Dior Cherie Blooming Bouquet,Miami Glow: JLO, Viva la juicy,YSL's Paris Jardins Romantiques, YSL's Candy Doll etc.
Fancy does smell like Viva la juicy BUT! Fancy is more refreshing, young(viva's scent seems too old for me, I'm 18 by the way), sweet, softer and delightful. ^______^ I'm in Bangkok (very very hot weather,I wear Fancy to the University every morning but it doesn't seem to be any problem. And at late noon it smells kinda like one of the Dior men perfume (which is good!lol)
This is by far one of the best celebrity perfumes. It is very yummy and smells like sweet pear and caramel. Perfect fro daytime and night time.mI also got a lot of compliments for this one.
I have always loved this scent...it's been my favorite celeb scent and favorite foody scent since I first sampled it two years ago. I love wearing this on grey days and cold nights, it's so cozy and pretty. It smells like a vanilla muffin with blanched almonds on top, very generously drizzled with buttery caramel sauce. I personally wouldn't eat that, but that really does smell pretty damn yummy. A friend of mine is already itching to get her own bottle after trying mine recently. Now, I've come across men (and other women) who don't particularly care for it, and others who find it just too sweet and foody, so I've kept it locked away, only wearing it occasionally, or at home for my own pleasure...but amazingly, a guy I've been seeing the past month just adores it, so far he hasn't complimented any of my other perfumes (I've worn Dior and Guerlain around him), except for this. He even asks me for my 'sweetie cake' perfume when he catches me without Fancy. A great coincidence that he has an insatiable sweet tooth, so I get to wear this delicious frag alot more often than I used to. And yes Fancy is yummier than Fantasy or Pink Sugar to my nose, it is more sugary and feminine than either of them, Fantasy is creamier, with a fruity tartness in comparison, and Pink Sugar is stronger and heavier with that bitter liquorice edge to it.
So I just wrote a review below but I have been wearing Fancy now for 2 hours and I cant even smell it anymore and it does kind of smell like butter popcorn...Not really sure if its worth the dough...
its a straight chocolate in a bottle. sweet chocolate. very gourmand. u might be smelled yummy in it, and people would say so, they really gonna like it. but u might not like it as much as they like it, though. ummmm.... it just i think its kind of perfume that stand out by itself, it doesn't need u to show up. i myself don't really like that feeling.
How does vanilla and caramel smell high end?! I'm so surprised so many like this scent. It never dies down, just a very boring scent to me.
I absolutely LOVE this perfume! I smelled it at Macy's a few months ago, and I could not get it out of my mind! So, I bought it online for about $30 for the 3.4 oz bottle. I have been wearing it all week and I am in love! I also bought Fancy Love, without having previously smelled it, and I don't like it as much, but my mom loves it! I am very impressed that a celebrity perfume actually smells so high-end and expensive!
I really wanted to like this one. I bought it blind based on the reviews here. The dry down smells like Eagle Brand Medicated Oil which my father-in-law uses daily for arthritis. It's very heavy and nauseating. I don't think my body chemistry does well with the vanilla based scents...unfortunately. Too bad I bought the 100ml bottle. Will try giving it to my sister, maybe she'll have better luck.
ICK! What a scrubber! Could not get this off fast enough. I do not understand why grown women want to smell like candy. Not sexy at all.
i think this could be my next blind purchase based on the reviews and ingredients, this sounds like just the thing i would go for, it has most of my fav notes. It sounds perfect and like it was made for me :)
After reading the reviews, I went to try this in Priceline. I sprayed some on, then let it dry down for a while. It's a beautiful smell, definitely oriental vanilla with some hints of brown sugar too. BUT..I realised after it dried down, that it smells VERY similar to In Control by Britney Spears :) which I already have. But, if you don't already have In Control by Britz, get this one if you love oriental vanilla/sweet perfumes.
So after reading TONS of compliments on this perfume, and after receiving and testing the sample, I decided to purchase it. Honestly, I am not sure if it was the right thing to do.
I really wanted this to be a nice, cupcake-like perfume. The main thing that (in my opinion) destroys that Fancy, is it´s "fruity" opening that really bothers me a lot! Usually, I LOVE fruity perfumes, but that red berries and pear combo makes my stomach feel bad. To me, the opening is STRONG and TOO CLOYING, and it mostly causes me a stroooong headache.
On the other hand, there is a WONDERFUL caramel, vanilla, almond drydown. But I just can´t handle that horrible, cloying opening.
And also never get any compliments on it, even my boyfriend told me it smelled plasticy! However, the lasting power is pretty much incredible! 6+ hours on me. But OVERALL, I am really disappointed :( Wish it was made without those fruit notes! I really regret buying the whole set, that contained 3.4 fl.oz. bottle, a roller-ball and the lotion (which was LITERALLY the worst lotion ever!! Smelled like VOMIT! I had to throw it away immediately..)
I love this one. It's hard to discribe, smells like Caramel for sure and also a pretty perfumey scent at the same time. The name discribes it really well, It smells very Fancy.
Totally love this perfume!! Perfect capacity of sweet caramel perfume :) Sooo yummmm!! Not over sweet. It does stay 3 day on my clothes, maybe longer...If I'm not washing. The colour describing the scent. Another good thing is no one guess what the perfume is because the scent has no similarity yet :D (specially peoples around me)
Unfortunately my husband didn't give compliment as 'a man' should...you know what I mean.lol So I'll keep it for 'ladies time only' i get compliments everytime I wear it from my friends (girls) and my sists.
Very good job by J.Simpson :)
It's really sweet - pear and vanilla, Great summer perfume and its last a long time. It reminds me of a Swedish ice cream called Pigelin....
I'd just like to say THANK YOU to all the reviewers that recommended this gorgeous perfume!
I purchased this online for £22 for a 100ml without previously testing it. I loved all the notes so I thought why not?!! Fancy starts off with fruity/berry notes, I agree with the previous reviewer who said it was like a 'creamy fanta' that is exactly what the first one hour smells like. It settles to a BEAUTIFUL caramel/chocolate/vanilla scent.
The lasting power is great, I smelt it strongly even whilst having a cigarette! I would probably recommend you don't spray more than three spritz though.
Overall, a pleasantly suprising, gorgeous and comforting perfume perfect for everyday wear. Highly recommended! In future I'll be trying all of Jessica Simpson perfumes.
it smell amazingggg !!! i was blind buying , and I'm not disappointed at all .. i love the way the vanilla and caramel goes together on my skin .
This was a disastrous blind buy. Smells like Palmers Cocoa Butter which I can't bear. Gave it away.
I love this perfume. I prefer it on cool days and nights. It's beautiful and lasts a long time too. Very vanilla. Men love it. WARNING: I was standing in line on a hot summer day next to a woman wearing Fancy. She smelled horrible and I could not wait to get away from her so my nostrils would stop stinging. This is a cool weather scent. Fall and winter.
Honestly, I bought this perfume based on all the reviews from here. Usually, a celebrity perfumes doesn't really interest me, but after all the positives things I've read, I decided that I have to give this one a chance.
I was right, I just cant get enough of it. I LOVE It!. I fell in love from the first spritz, smells like a really yummy drinks. Like a creamy red fanta (ok, I dont know a better way to discribe this), and then turned into cream caramel, chocolate and vanilla. All this yummy things comes in moderate ways, nothing too strong or smell too obvious.I cant stop smelling it.
It last more than 6 hours on me, so its definitely one of my fav!
I love Jessica Simpson. She is beautiful and a great singer. I love her even more now that I've smelled Fancy. God this is wonderful. So yummie, delicious, sweet, caramel, vanilla, sugar. I have the biggest bottle because this is not sold in my country, had to order it online. I bought the biggest one, and also the biggest one of Fancy Love. I love them both but the original fancy is the best.
It starts of with a blast of berries and sugar. After a couple of minutes I really smell the pear. After half an our the caramel comes through. The drydown is creamy vanilla with sugar and caramel. This lasts for hours and hours and hours. Amazing projection and lasting power. Great job.
I tried this today for the first time after REALLY wanting it badly. At first i didn't like it, but then like five minutes later i REALLY liked it!! I think because i sprayed it way too close to the skin, and it was really strong, but then when it actually dried on my skin a bit - Like five minutes later, i REALLY loved it!! I could really smell the Caramel, and i really love the dry down! The Caramel really stays there but it's quite a nice balance of scents! And it was cheap, which was really good! Can't wait to buy it!
Fancy is my snow season perfume.
I simply love the way it embraces me with its warm sweet scent. It's sweet but not cloying, very long lasting, with a fruity touch that makes it perfect for gourmand lovers. To me apricot and caramel are predominant but basicly I also smell red berries, almond and pear quite clearly. To me it's also quite milky and powdery ambery although milk is not listed in the notes.
It doesn't change very much on skin and clothes (oh it's divine on clothes) but it stays in the air forever!
Definitely for cold weather, both day and night!
i just LOVE the vanilla smell from this perfume it smells absolutely delicious!
A really lovely, sweet-smelling perfume overall. YUM
I remember when my friend told me she bought Fancy by Jessica Simpson and i couldnt stop laughing ....I dont really like jessica(well never met her but you know what a mean ;)and i couldnt believe that my friend, someone who adores Dior, Armani, Thierry Mugler etc tells me that she bought Fancy and that is one of the best perfumes she has ever tried.....
I had to try it myself and then .....OMG ! what a surprise was that! this is brilliant fragrance for winter. Smells gorgeous! so warm and comfortable-vanilla, almond, caramel with a hint of fruit. I have never honestly smelled anything like it before and I really got to love it . One of my favourites. perfect for cold days and believe it or not- on my skin lasts longer than Armani and Prada .
I purchased the gift set yesterday, which included the 1oz. perfume bottle. I'm excited to wear this perfume because I find it most appropriate for this Winter Season. In this fragrance, you'll definitely get quite a bit of vanilla, caramel, & almonds hints in it, duh. I'm going to be wearing this perfume to work & going out. This fragrance has a sophisticated & casual scent to it. I'll be sure to wear just a spray or two, since it's quite a heavy fragrance. On a scale of 1 to 10, I have to give this perfume an 8. Can't hardly wait to start wearing tomorrow.
Like a luscious dip in a sweet scented lagoon: leaves you feeling romantic and smelling scrumptious! I definitely give this one a 10. The vanilla and caramel notes are definitely not cloying to my nose: sweet cupcakes with deliciously scented fruity frosting! It blends beautifully with the pear, abricot and red berries; this gives the fragrance a declectable burst of fuity freshness that I do not find in Pink Sugar lacks. The drydown is casmerish with tender sandalwood and heady yet feminine gardenia. I definitely love it!!! the flacon represents the fragrance well i believe: simply elegant and oh, so feminine! (second part of review below ) :D good day! xxx
When I bought the 30 ml, I thought I would save it for special occasions since it was SO totally my cup of tea! But I got SO many compliments and my boyfriend finds it so sweetly sexy that I emptied it quite fast, feeling a bit guilty for overdoing it treat-wise lol... So I got the 100ml and endulged as often as i wanted to to my great delight without the calories nor the guilt. . It mingles beautifully with Fancy Love which reminds me so much of my beloved Burberry Woman which I use sparingly since I find it expensive here in Canada. And since my best friend loves it so on me (she calls it my praline-honey scent) she gifted me with another just today! Here ius my first review for this sublime yummy frag:
just smelled it at the store! thought i would love it, which... i ALMOST DID.
off top, i got a vanilla latte with extra caramel =] YUMMMMYYYYYYYY. very heavy tho.
then i got a little edge... was it the almonds?
all in all, id say 8/10 ... 10 being i LOVE the perfume. might consider getting it in the smallest size available.
Caramel and almonds. Nice fragrance my mom loves it.
To my nose, this is much more than a vanilla gourmand. Fancy is richer, more complex than most celebrity fragrances on the market now, and has a sweet incensy smell. My husband says that he likes it because the sweetness is balanced by the musk in the heart.I have a mini that I carry around with me and sniffing it throughout the day always lifts my mood.
and fyi~there's something about this scent that smells even more beautiful the colder the weather is.
Oh no. I wanted to like this. It smelled like lichee and vanilla, but chemically so. As if the ingredients they used to make this scent were so chemical in content that the chemicals burned through the notes. In fact, they burned every time I took a sniff of this on my wrist and I wound up with a runny nose. Ugh.
EDIT 3/05/12: After much deliberation, I've discovered that I actually like this scent. When I first tried this out it was during the winter, but now that it is warmer outside this fragrance has calmed and settled into an actual discernable scent. The lichee is actually sugared pears and vanilla. There's an almost tea-like edge here on my skin that makes me think of inhaling an extremely sweetened, smooth, deep, all around really good tea. I really wish I had a good soft tea scent to layer with this, as I actually think it would be quite beautiful.
A very nice scent for gourmand lovers. Not for those who get tooth ache's from sweet scents like Pink Sugar, and most definitly only for the warmer months.
Sweet sweet sweet. Almond, vanilla, caramel, and maybe a bit of sandalwood. No fruit no flower for me. It's just like a cake batter or freshly baked sugar almond cookies. It's very one dimensional. I don't mind sweet scent for comfort, but this is too syrupy sweet for my personal everyday use. If you like sugary scent that is comfy to wear, this is probably worth checking out.
This is one of the perfumes I had when my fragrance addict tendencies were just beginning to sprout. Oh, the nostalgia :} I remember wearing this on a vacation with my boyfriend and smelling its sweet, nutty goodness all day long without even a hint of reapplication, even in the heat of summer. This one is a sillage monster on me, but in a good way. The almond gives it a distinct scent, something that makes it recognizable from the other vanilla caramel's out there. At first, I took that grainy, gritty sweetness to be a sugar note, but seeing here that it is almond, it makes sense now when I smell it. If you do not like sweet perfumes, run for the hills on this one, but for a gourmand lover like me, this one is a keeper.
After the reviews I rushed out to test this. I really wanted to like it but was sadly disappointed. It had a really harsh scent that I didn't like at all. After a while it mellowed to a more tolerable vanilla, which I didn't mind. However I don't think I'd be able to put up with the initial spray. So sad, oh well the search continues.
OMG my LOVE offer me this lovely fragrance last weekend & seriously i have plenty of BIG BRANDS fragrance top cotes but! when i spray this one ... WE BOTH LIKE... mmmm! sensual feeling ** if you know what i mean WE GET CRAZY feeling i know it's not a new fragrance but... MEN WHERE WAS I... this i think will be on TOP OF MY FAV fragrance for a long way.. but i think it's more a autumn winter scent lets see in the summer how it will turns out! just love at the first **spray** not crazy about the fancy night but this one..mmmm! OOOOOOOhh! YES! BAby
I feel like Fancy is too much for some occasions. I don't like the opening of the fragrance. When I spray it on I can't smell my wrist right after it because the mix of the pear, red berries, and apricot really, I think, don't do the fragrance a lot of justice.
I love the creamy, vanilla/sugary base the frag has though -which keeps me coming back for more. I just love after a few hours of wearing it the way it makes me feel warm on cold fall days.
PLEASE: PUT BALLONS IS YOU ARE THINKING OR WEARING THIS LOVELY POTION FOR XMAS! PM ARE WELCOME! ROSIE
At first I find this scent to be really pleasant and rich. Not long after it smells really strong and stinging.. like bug spray almost.
This perfume has the same cloying, bitter note that Estee Lauders Pleasures Delight has... it ruins the otherwise gourmand vanilla notes and after a while of wearing makes me nauseous.
this is the first ever fragrance i ever bought! its great.
here is what it smells like:
the top note: it sort of smells like bubble tea or milk tea to me. its winter and i wore a scarf and the fragrance basically "Fancied" it, and my friend took my scarf and smelt it, and she sed that it smells just like bubble tea. top note lasts about an hour.
heart note: its very very yummy. its just like a caramel chocolate bar to me. i can barely smell the almonds, and the florals. it lasts about 3~5 hours.
base note: VANILLA. you can tots smell the vanilla. its like a splash in yo face. smells sooo good. lasts basically for the whole day. and after i shower, i can smell the top note again. ikr, weerd.
i defitnetly recommend this. its very strong, so no longer then 2 sprays.
I am jeolous of all of you who can wear this and no problems. I annoy myself with this because I go backwards and forwards with it like a lunatic. I spray it on myself and think yuck I am going to be sick. I spray it around the house and as I walk around I think that smells so nice. Spray it on myself yuck I am going to puke. and backwards and forwards I go. This is affordable and available in abundance everywhere in Australia. I have had 2 bottles now and everytime it ends up being used as room spray. My husband always says you smell really nice when I wear it. I am wondering if she has a body lotion maybe that is all I could handle with this one. Of course in Australia getting the body lotion is going to be a big performance as we rarely have them. They always have sets of things here that I am not interested in or that no one really likes but the ones I really like I can never get the sets for them. I love Fancy Nights I can wear that with no problems and that is stronger than this so go figure? I find Fancy lasts and lasts on me and I wouldn't say it is pure vanilla because you can smell caramel on and off in it. Also, the liquid in mine turns very dark and brown everytime I buy it. It doesn't seem to affect the smell but I am not sure if that happens to other people it doesn't look nice I prefer when the liquid is the pale pink colour otherwise it just looks like bile or urine or something. The Mariah Carey M turns brown as well I have noticed and it does affect the smell of that one.
My absolutely favorite perfume atm. I love this perfume during fall/winter. It is sweet but not sickeningly sweet. The initial scent I get from spraying this is the pear. It then dries down into a rich caramel gourmand scent. I just adore this. I get many compliments when I wear this. It also has great lasting power.
On my skin sickly sweet, to the point of being overwhelming.
If you are a big fan of vanilla scent, you should own this perfume. For me,it is pure vanilla scent and I like it so much. This is my signature scent of celebrity perfumes. It makes me feel happy whenever I use it.
This is simply lovely, although it will never replace my obsession with Fancy Love. I tried a sample of this and while it is extremely sweet, there are sweeter ones out there (ie. Philosophy's Unconditional Love), and the flavor is anything but "cheap" smelling. As long as you don't tell anyone you're wearing Jessica Simpson, the impression they'd get from this perfume is something very expensive, elegant, and classy (no offense, Jessica!)
Fancy makes me feel like I am floating on fluffy vanilla clouds for hours and hours! Like taking a vanilla magic carpet ride. :) It is sweet, yes, but somehow not heavy, and it lasts 12+ hours with just 1-2 sprays. I have to be honest, I prefer scents that use better raw materials (the pear note is a wee bit too synthetic for my taste). But I have the budget of a poor starving college student right now and Fancy is upbeat and FUN.
Going on my 4th bottle already! i love it!!! i get many compliments and lasts all day and night into the morning!! :) if u dont mind smelling delicious and sweet and dont mind the attention, i recommend this perfume!
This one ...one word wonderfull really recomend it not a cheap smell ,very sweet ,good projection ,excellent lasting power, compliments will follow you all night or day long. I put it on at 10pm and at 6am after dance lots of hugs ,kisses ,beer ,I was still receiving compliments
everyone wanted to know where this magic and sweet smell was coming from.
vanilla fragrance >.<"
I love it :)
WOW!! I don't know what to say but this fragrance is absolutly beautiful!! Can't believe i have never smelt or purchased it before! Its sweet but not too sweet on me.. VERY enjoyable!! This is deffinatly a new staple in my wardrobe!!! Way to go Jess!
I tested this 3 days ago. It smelled like a warm vanilla cupcake, but that's all. It's very hot and humid in Indonesia and wearing this will make me smell horrible. It's perfect for colder days, though.
I love this perfume! Although my girl's guy and mine told us they hated it.
But I still think it is delicious!!!
What a surprise....Is actually really nice, simple, sweet and I guess just like the Girl Jessica S herself..
Personally I will not buy another bottle, as I have way more fumes that run rings around this one, but it is actually really nice, but does not last on the skin for a long time....
This is such a fun sweet, girly perfume. Smells like walking into the bakery of my dreams. I don't much like the other scents in the Fancy collection, but that's fine. I'm content with the original.
the staying power is amazing . 8 hrs on my skin :)
Being a celebrity perfume I instantly thought "not another one".... however I was pleasantly awakened at it's sweet soft citrus opening that surprisingly isn't sickly sweet.
I didn't get the pear note.... maybe a bit of apricot and berry but definitely no pear. There were too many other notes dominating the top and middle and unfortunately pear scent itself is soft.
If you like caramel sweet with a bit of fruit for playfulness and sandal, vanilla and amber for depth then this is worth adding to your collection.
The price is good value too.
Overall 7/10
Like a luscious dip in a sweet scented lagoon: leaves you feeling romantic and smelling scrumptious! I definitely give this one a 10. The vanilla and caramel notes are definitely not cloying to my nose: sweet cupcakes with deliciously scented fruity frosting! It blends beautifully with the pear, abricot and red berries; this gives the fragrance a declectable burst of fuity freshness that I do not find in Pink Sugar lacks. The drydown is casmerish with tender sandalwood and heady yet feminine gardenia. I definitely love it!!! the flacon represents the fragrance well i believe: fancy and feminine! Give me news on how u like it!!!
This one really is yummy! Starts out as peaches and ice cream on me, really sweet, just BARELY short of being over the top, but somehow it works. I've noticed that the peach can have a boozy edge to it some days though, like peach schnapps. After that, it mellows into this delicious vanilla cookie aroma, like nilla wafers. Sweet and cuddly and fun!
I almost didn't try it too, the tester just smelled like sticky sugar syrup, not appealing AT ALL. And you don't get a good sense of the warm yummy richness when it's on paper. This is definitely one you have to actually try on, I think.
Update: Just tried out Pink Sugar, and once it gets past the peach, Fancy is pretty similar, with more caramel.
I purchased this fragrance without smelling it – which is normally a pretty stupid thing to do but I got lucky on this one. The notes in this perfume sounded wonderful to me and since I’m a very gourmand vanilla foodie type girl when it comes to my fragrances I figured this was the one for me. It is! Vanilla woody is a great way to describe it (though someone else thought it smelled like cotton candy and cigarette ash) I found it to smell sweet and soulful at the same time. A deep and sophisticated vanilla.
Now when I say sophisticated vanilla I mean it in a fun way - not in a high-end Shalimar kind of way (which I also like) When I wear this I think big white fluffy sweaters and hot cocoa by a campfire. It’s absolutely delicious.
Lasting time is amazing on both skin and clothing. I’m the girl who sprays 2-3 puffs when all she needs is 1 – I never listen but please listen this time. ONE FULL SPRAY is enough. It’s strong so don’t overspray or you’ll get too much of a good thing. It’s a sweet perfume but the sandalwood really brings this scent down to earth. Sweet, sexy, grown up. I love this fragrance.
I'm 29 and usually am cognizant of a fragrance paired with age. I don't feel that this perfume is too young for me or anyone. I think this perfume spans across all age groups.
Jessica knows how to make a fragrance
i wish i could wear this in summer cause i love it so much!!!!!! :( but i reckon it's too heavy for the hotter days
Reminds me of a sundae...I love wearing it once in a great while, but I can't wear it regularly. It's just too sweet.
I was hoping for a clean and light candied vanilla type of smell after reading all the reviews. Though on my skin it smelled rather synthetically sweet: HEAVY and DIRTY vanilla. It's really strong even with just a dab on the back of my hand for testing. I had to wash it off as I started to have a headache. I guess I couldn't write about this FANCY much further.
Luv it! This smells so sweet and warm. The caramel and vanilla really stand out. I wore this all last winter! Perfect for everyday wear, but do not over spray this otherwise you'll feel sick!
I try to stay away from celeb fragrances most of the time, but decided to give this one a try because I came across a gift set that has the rollerball in it that I'd love to have...
Sprayed this one on about an hour ago. At first it was way too sweet almost like syrup. But after about 20 minutes it became warm and almost oriental smelling. Much of the sweetness calmed down on my skin, leaving a very pleasant vanilla woody fragrance. I lOVE It!..I keep sniffing every few minutes to see what developes.:)
This seems to have a huge following and I see it recommended over and over. I've tried it at least 5 times now, trying to get the waffle, sweet, yummy, caramel, cakey gourmand smell that so many have reported. All I get is cheap plasticky soapy I don't know what. Even my husband said I smelt like a toilet duck.
It obviously doesn't suit my skin!
On me it's nothing like Prada Candy....
it smells exactly like prada candy, except slightly smoother, softer, a little bit more gourmand, a little less floral. otherwise, it's the same scent. at first i hated this because i thought i smelled like a huge sugar cookie, but i get SO many compliments on it, it's made me change my mind. i can only handle 1 spritz though.
This was my signature scent for quite awhile. One of the only perfumes I have actually used till it ran out. My ex always called it the "waffle perfume" cuz he said it smelled like waffles with maple syrup. It's sweet and warm, I could smell the caramel a lot.
@malibu,what are you talking about the lasting power isnt great ? it is amazing! I can smell it still on my clothes when Im getting ready to do laundry after a week, if that isnt great lasting power I dont know what is to you
Credit where's credit is due; FANCY is a pleasant and comforting daytime scent, best suited to autumn/winter.
However FANCY isn't anywhere near original; the caramel and berries are very reminiscent to PINK SUGAR, especially when coupled with the foody base notes.
The top notes are also a bit too sweet, it can border on sickly on me. The light florals in the heart of the fragrance calm it down, so I could tolerate it.
The lasting power is best described as OK - around four hours, so not very good. Although it has no impact on the fragrance, I have to mention that I hate the name. Cute bottle, though.
I love this fragrance and I wil always be apart of my collection, fancy starts off with a rush of red berries which my be a little strong at first, but after that you get more of the floral notes in it which is the part I dont like, after that and its dry down you get the carmel, the vanilla cream and almonds which is my favorite part of the fragrance. It smells kinda like vanilla frosting on a cake with carmel poured over it. I love it, very pretty. Can be dressed up or down, this is a grown up version of britney's fantasy and smells better than pink sugar, pink sugar smells like burn cookies to me, The lotion is AMAZING ! In the lotion you get the pure edible notes in it, no florals, no fruits just the yummy aspect of it. The fragrance last all day long! for 60 dollars its not bad at all, the bottle is beautiful on a dresser or vanity. She put alot of effort into this fragrance, infact with all of them. I fancy, fancy :)
i absolutly love this fragrance, i bought a little bottle from wal mart because i heard that it smells really good. So i tried it and LOVED IT It smells really sweet on my skin, i get so much compliments when i wear it, and my boyfriend actually told me he loves when i wear it :-)
Today, I dabbed Fancy on one wrist and Fancy Love on the other. Guess which one sucks?! Maybe I got a bad sample or something, because the top notes smell like chemicals, sugar, cream soda, and mens aftershave! I don't know if the drydown will yield more favourable results- it seems unlikely. I love the bottle and was just about to buy a 100mL bottle, but got a sample just in case- I think this was a good decision. I will update in a few hours if the drydown exceeds my expectations. Meanwhile, Fancy Love on the other hand (or wrist in my case!) appears to be quite promising!
Update: It's been 2 hours and I can definitely smell vanilla, freshly baked cake, and a bit of caramel in there, but the masculine aftershave smell persists in the background. Unfortunately, the same thing applies to the Fancy Love! It may be due to a body chemistry incompatibility thing. I'm undecided on whether to buy it or not. Either way, for those who have the same problem, I think the way to go is to spray this a couple of hours before coming into contact with people.
Smells like a newbaked cinnamon bun. Very sweet and nice. Lots and lots of cinnamon, vanilla and sugar.
Vanilla scents are usually one of three extremes; they are either very sweet smelling (think Warm Vanilla Sugar from BBW), very musky smelling (think Vanilla Lace) or very “foody” smelling. This thankfully is neither.
This balances the line between smelling musky and strong and like something edible very well. When smelled from the bottle this smells like cake, cookies and all other delights you would find in any bakery, however once sprayed this changes completely. Whilst still carrying its gourmand origins it develops into a musky, mature and downright sexy scent.
To call “Fancy” merely a perfume is somewhat offensive, in my opinion this one of those rare scents that manages to avoid the “conveyer belt” formula and really stands out from the crowd, it generates discussion, interest, allure and as a pompous fashion editor may say “really completes an outfit”.
The only surprising thing about this fragrance is that it comes from Jessica Simpson, don’t get me wrong stranger things have happened but after her disastrous first attempt at perfuming (yes because we all want to lick perfume and lotion of one another!!) I never would have thought she would create something this exciting.
The likes of Paris Hilton and co. should take note...THIS is how it’s done!
I LOVE this one! It has such a creamy, alluring scent. The vanilla and caramel blend so perfectly without the burnt smell other sweet perfumes tend to have. I get so many compliments when I wear this. I am not a big fan of most celeb scents but I must say, Jessica Simpson markets great perfumes. I have the entire Fancy collection. Other celebs should take advice from Jessica when marketing perfume. Her perfumes have a fantasic price, great staying power and never smell cheap...... Way to go JS.......
Gave me a migraine. The scent went up my nose into my brain...
The bottle doesnt match the scent either.
sweety elegant suits for all ages i like it its reminds me Guess marsiano
I love Gloria by Cacharel but they discontinued it, so I was looking for a similar imitation for years until I finally found Fancy. They both are oriental vanilla fragrances containing similar notes of almonds, amber and vanilla. The berries note in Fancy is similar to the cherry effect in Gloria. The caramel note in Fancy is what makes this fragrance, well...fancy!!! I would say it lasts (about 6 hours). This is my new signature perfume.
BTW fragrantica helped me find it by searching by notes...very helpful website!
Creamy, comforting, cozy perfume. It has an edible powderyness, like the powder on marshmallows. I notice the red berries, it adds a little zing, but it mellows out fast enough. There is a toasty nuttiness that I love. I love wearing this in the winter.
this is your typical floral-vanilla scent. the top notes are fruity, but the drydown smells almost exactly like pink sugar -just a bit more muted. it lasts 10+ hours on me, so staying power is very good. but i find that very sweet, vanilla-y scents generally do have good staying power. i wasn't fond of this one too much because it lacks personality, but it's totally wearable.
PS: please use a light hand! my friend wears this and everytime she sprays more than 2 spritzes, i get nauseous around her. ick.
I endlessly love this scent after the first test and could not forget it. Having perfume masterpieces I sincerely adore this one, it contains everything I like.
smells like straight up cake, very sweet cake.
Sweet vanilla and caramel goodness, its a very feminine playful parfume, it has a soft and suttle smell, like a perfume is supposed to be. Im puttin this one on my wish list!
This reminds me a lot of her 'Dessert' line fragrances but with better staying power. It is a little strong for me, sometimes gives me a headache, but every time I wear it , I always get asked about it. I would say use it sparingly.
I tried this awhile back and got a very strong dill type scent when I wore it, yes, DILL...wierd I know, I love the smell of dill but not on me! I just on a whim smelled the bottle the other day while my son and I were sniffing around in Macy's and decided to spray it on just to see if it still had that dill odor. I now believe Kohl's where I tested it the first time had a bad or off bottle because this stuff smells really good on me without that dill note! I get berries, tons of creamy vanilla, a touch of gardenia and maybe a hint of the caramel, very nice and comforting. I may pick up a bottle for fall/winter. It seems to last quite a few hours too! :0)
here is lot of caramel, vanilla and red berries going on.. Its a little bit to sweet for my taste but its nice. This scent is perfect for a younger woman, I think.
Mycket karamell, vanilj och röda bär i denna doften. Lite för söt för att jag ska falla helt för den. En doft som passar den unga kvinnan i mitt tycke.
I so wish the JS was not on the bottle of this one. I'm embarassed to admit I really really love it. When people ask me what I'm wearing, I usually name some impossible to get, discontinued French scent, just so that they don't discover my dirty little secret. Is that wrong? LOL ;)
This is one of those fragrances that was truly love at first sniff for me.
Initially I could smell the burst of juicy fruits, but that gives way very quickly to a luscious caramelly-vanilla with a hint of nuttiness from the almonds, which is so warm and sumptuous that I couldn't stop smelling my wrist.
On me, the floral notes only came through very lightly...it was mainly caramel and vanilla that I could detect on my skin, especially once the perfume dried down.
It is a very sweet scent, and perfect to cheer yourself up during those long winter days.
The sillage wasn't bad, and the lasting power was pretty average. It lasted on my skin for about 5-6 hours before it wore off completely. The perfume is good value for the price though, so you can afford to reapply liberally throughout the day.
I love it and I'm pretty sure this will be my new signature scent when winter arrives.
The opening kept me thinking: hmmm a bit too synthetic for my taste so I was wondering Why do many people seem to ADORE this frag, But then the answer came by itself.
Mid notes and drydown are fabulous I could describe the notes but I rather tell you this:
-It is exactly like if you were smelling a warm vanilla cake, yep like going to the bakery and smelling the vanilla cake that came straight from the oven an it´s warm, cozy, indulgent, yummie.
There´s this sweet liquor that is made only here in my country with typical fruits and almonds called "Espíritu del Ecuador".Fancy resembles me of it.
So I´m loving Fancy a bit more every day.
it smells like a warm cake. very cozy and sweet, but not too sweet. it smells more expensive than it really is. when my bottle is finished i definitely have to buy a new one. :)
You know, it has it's sweet, strong, vanilla-ey appeal. I liked it at first, then I started realizing it was giving me a headache. Then I started realizing how cheap and strong it smelled. Victoria's Secret released last winter, Heavenly Stardust, in limited editions. As I sprayed, I immediately made the very familiar connection to Fancy. Heavenly Stardust is far superior and better quality...they do however, smell almost exactly the same. If you like Fancy, you will adore Heavenly Stardust...it is a refined, quality version of Fancy.
I love this fragrance. It is simply warm and inviting. This is the kind of scent that makes me think of being wrapped up in a blanket on a cold winter evening with a good book and a hot cup of tea. The vanilla gives it that deep rich fragrance while the berries lighten the mood and keep it from being overbearing. A truly lovely fragrance.
I LOVED this perfume when I smelled it the first time. However, it didn't work with my body chemistry when I tried it. I'm really disappointed because it's such a yummy scent, but I guess it's not meant for me. Too bad :(
I had to write another comment This is HG!!!! This is everything i ever wanted in a perfume I have bought so many perfumes looking for that perfect warm vanilla perfume but has a little more The apricot note in this makes it truely special It gives the vanilla a little extra sweetness without being too sickly sweet I am OBSESSED with this perfume!!!! Will be wearing this 4ever!!!
I LOVE THIS!!! What a wonderful perfume Jess did a great job with this.I have so many perfumes And this is my favourite so far and second in line is her fancy love Which is also heaven!!I have Fantasy too and it is Nothing like it the only thing they share is a vanilla note on the dry down but fantasy is too candy kiddy sweet Where fancy is a warm dessert xmas time vanilla So different. This just gets better the longer you wear it I find myself constantly smelling my arm Its that nice The fruity florals that keep being made by the truck load are nice but they all smell the same This is different There are not many truely gormand warm vanilla scents done by celebs This is definately unique I just love this Try it!!!
Fancy is one of my all time favourites. This has to be the best celebrity fragrance I have ever had a chance to try.
Starts off with a delicious burst of red berries, apricot and pear.
As it softens, the vanilla and caramel develops beautifully and suddenly I am in the most delicious gourmand vanilla dream, like a huge pot of milky, dreamy creme brulee with caramel topping!
Truly mouthwatering experience, a must try for all vanilla and sweet gourmand lovers!
I am impressed by the longevity, I use it for nights out and sprayed on my hair it lasts until morning! Sillage is reasonable too but I would say it gives it`s best in the first 2-3 hours.
I don`t find it overly sweet or too cloying, although I would recommend it for slightly colder days as the vanilla-caramel combo is really warm and can get too much in hot summer.
Those vanilla lovers who find celebrity scents off putting still should give Fancy a try as it is gorgeously soft, sophisticated, not childish and absolutely wearable.
I will always cherish Jessica for making such a beauty. :)
This is very strong and should be used sparingly. The smell is quite synthetic at first. Spraying this all over is the wrong method to use when approach with this one because of its very plasticy jasmine opening.
It does not have a plain, sweet vanilla scent, but a complex vanilla scent with lush gardenia and amber and tart summer fruits. There is also a hint of smokiness which could make it suitable for nighttime. It is bright and sweet and shyly naughty. It reminds me of something a pretty Southern belle might wear. I like it so much.
i recently purchased it and its really nice. it is sweet and soft, but not too candy or girlish. really well done.
It is indeed not like Fantasy, but it is similar to Burberry Brit. Love this perfume!
I don't understand all the compairisons to Fantasy. Yes they are both gourmond and sweet but Fantasy has much more of a fruity sweet to it than Fancy. The white chocolate and fruit makes it much more of a light sweet than Fancy is. Fancy is a warmer deeper sweet. If anything it smells like Viva La Juicy because they both have those caramely notes
The vanilla in this scratches at me and annoys me like fantasy by Brittney Spears. Something in it just annoys me. I can wear Guess and Namoi Campbells original one they smell like vanilla and caramel but this one just is too annoying for me. It lasts a long time so it is well worth the money if you do want it.
OOHH i'm so in loveee with perfume not..so i lovee vanilla, this one is pure vanilla ice-cream+caramel..so sweet & sexy..not too heavy to wear at daytime, perfect for nightime...love this!!
Ok-yet another perfume that I disliked just a few days ago-retried it and now I want to eat my arm...either my nose-or me-must be going loopy.I think I might just hold on to this one...I agree that this would be perfect for a cold weather scent though before I found this cloying but now it has a very soft sillage.I think it's because it's...you know..(that time of the month:TMI)that I am having such odd reactions to perfumes lately.
@rdemates-It's not just your bottle:mine comes out in a huge spray...it's impossible to put just a little spritz on.
Oh wow! I love this scent. I agree with other reviewers that have noted the cupcake/vanilla smell. To me it's a comfort scent; curled up on the couch on a cold winter day with a cup of hot cocoa kind of scent. Very yummy too. I get lots of compliments with this one, people tell me how fresh I smell. It's staying power is ridiculous too; can still smell it the next day! I really love this and I am out at the moment, but I won't repurchase until it gets cooler outside. BTW, great mood lifter frag!
My boyfriend gave me this for a birthday present. I was so excited when I saw the cute little box with Jessica on it and the "fancy" bottle! Smells to me like cupcakes and vanilla! Yum! I feel really girly and lovely when I put this on. Only problem is, I don't think it is very strong, and no one has ever commented on it like they do the Britney, Jlo ones etc!
This is yummy! A candy-ish vanilla fruit cake. There is a prominent pear?? note in me at first spritz that bugs me, but then settles in a warm, very sweet non cloying foody vanilla scent. Heaven for gourmand lovers.
Lasting power about 5 hrs on me, Sillage medium.
Fancy is a lovely vanilla/caramel/red fruit bomb, with amazing sillage and longevity.
BUT - there is a tobacco note in it too that really bugs me, I don`t want to smell like a smoker.
Overall - a great quality perfume with a nice price tag!
It Smells so good when you put it on that you wanna eat yourself!! Yummy!!! Perfect for the winter it warms you up!!
I love this at first but it has such strong sillage and lasting power that it gave me a headache. It smells good-is just a bit too much for me.I will say the bottle is gorgeous though.I prefer Fancy Love over this.
A sweet and linear vanilla scent. Warm, cozy, good staying power too! But I think I'll pass - I enjoy perfumes that work around a dominant vanilla note, but I like the perfume to develop and change on the skin. A little complexity. You don't get much of this with Fancy, but it's still very nice. I'll stick to Burberry Brit for my vanilla fix :)
Got a high expectation on this fragrance..
just get my fancy yesterday annd i definetly excited to try it out coz i bought it blindly..i purchased it bcoz of all the positive reviews that i read in certain web..
when i sniff it,i..........a bit dissapointed
i tought it will smell a same category as pink sugar , fantasy or can can but it definetly different from those fragrances..yup,it more to matured sweet powdery sour scent..
i prefer can can, fantasy or viva la juicy compare to this scents..
it just ok,but not for me..
I can say that this one is too sweet for me. This scent and Midnight Fantasy has a lot in common, IMO. They are both very, very sweet fragrances. I think they smell good on everyone else, just too much for me to say love.
This beautiful bottle arrived yesterday morning- the magic of Ebay! Upon arrival it was imediately opened. I have waited a long time to snell this! The first blast of fruits burn off very quickly on me, and I am left with the beautiful almond/caramel & vanilla. Its a lovely sweet, warm smell - sometimes I think it has disappeared, but then get lovely little trails as I move around. This one is a keeper! Love it - dont find much in common with B.S. Fantasy - Fancy is a much lighter & softer scent - a great alternative on days where you want soft and sweet - and do not want the full-on Fantasy effect!
I've noticed quite a few people on here have bottles they don't want due to poor chemistry mixing with the fragrance. I'd love to take a bottle or 2 off of anyones hands. I have pay pal and I'd be willing to place an offer or something, just message me on here. I love this scent and would love to help someone take this off their hands. Thanks :)
My teacher back in elementary days said that Fancy smells like Electric Youth by Debbie Gibson. She thought that's what i was wearing last night hahahaha...
maybe both perfumes have the same drydown...
For me, you can't go wrong with pear and caramel; apricot adds some fleshy tones to the sexy mix. Gardenia is wonderfully creamy and feminine and jasmine brings it's delightful allure to the party.
Almond always adds a wonderful depth to gourmands, nutty, creamy, a little powdery--I really like it in combination with pear too. Sandalwood and amber make this warm and radiant.
Vanilla really adds to the sweetness and in combination with caramel pushes it a little over the caloric edge for me. Apply sparingly or it could be headache inducing.
Well balanced notes nicely done! Can wear in office, or after 5. After xmas and after grown a liking to spraying the tester during various stores visits, I was lucky to find 2 small clearance gift sets. Love the fruits and vanilla blend, I would wear and recommend it. I gave away an extra bottle to my niece, she likes it too.
THIS SMELLS YUMMY, YUMMY, YUMMY
IN MY TUMMY........... WELL, MAYBE NOT IN MY TUMMY
BUT IT IS DELICIOUS :)
THIS PERFUME HAS A DASH OF BRITNEY SPEARS
"MIDNIGHT FANTASY IN IT"
THE REST IS ALL PEACHY, CREAM, CAKE
WELL DONE JESSICA :)
I bought it blind online, but we don't match.
When I wear it I truly feel like a little girl wandering among all the sweetest cupcakes and lollipops in a candy shop.
The vanilla is predominant in this one, mixed with some red berries, that unfortunately give it a bit sour and unpleasant note.
I definitely don't like sweet, sticky and edible fragrances like this one. But I love vanilla in perfumes though.
*
I really loved this scent! Every time I was at the mall I had to sample it! Its sweet and cakey, which is very fun and just beautiful! It lasts pretty long and it's really a great scent ...I fell in love. But when I finally got it for Christmas I realized that it just doesn't agree with me. It gives me headaches. I put it on my wrists right after I opened it and fell asleep a a little later with my head on my arms. I woke up with a headache. Every time I wore it after that I realized it was the scent that gave me headaches.
I adore this fragrance! I originally went in to macys to test fancy love due to all of the rave reviews but when I smelled THIS.... it was love at first whiff for me. Its smells sweet enough to eat but not sickening. The caramel & vanilla stick with me most here. If you are a vanilla lover this will be a nice scent for you with a twist.
To me, I reckon this is the PERFECT autumn/winter scent for gourmand/vanilla lovers. I love the smell of the inital spritz of the juicy red berries and apricot, the strong middle notes of caramel and almonds that is balanced out by subtle white flowers hence it's not cloying, and the dry down smells like vanilla cupcakes. So delish!
smelled good in the bottle, but i did not like this on me at all. something about it was too strong and funky. I can't explaint it, but it's wierd b/c i tend to like the vanilla-cakey scents. oh, well just not for me. I will be trying fancy love next. hope its better.
I love this fragrance, it smells like vanilla cake. The headnotes are not the best but the drydown is fantastic and it lasts and lasts and lasts.
I swear this fragrance is the smell of a warm cake. LOVE IT!
Wow! I love, love, love this fragrance! It's definitely my winter signature. I bought the full-sized bottle last summer at a buy-one-get-one-free sale at Perfumania, and I'm sooo glad I did. Upon first spray, it's kind of a synthetic, alcohol smell, but once it starts to dry down, OMG, delicious! Everyone knows me by this perfume, and I've gotten a lot of compliments on it. Really good buy!
Very nice vanilla fragrance, but also nothing really special; it smells just like many other fragrances of the same category.
I agree with the previous reviewer: after the first ten to fifteen minutes, I get some smokey tobacco notes that gives a beautiful twist to the concoction.
Average staying power and sillage.
I like Fancy, but not as much as Fancy Love. If you wear Fancy you will smell like a cupcake.( a delicious caramel, vanilla and almond cupcake) To me Fancy is a fun perfume that you can wear occasionally. It's sweet but not nauseating sweet as Pink Sugar. To me Pink Sugar smells awful.
Im not too sure about this one i've had compliments that it smells nice it's just it give me a headache, theres something sickly about it but i still like it can't put my finger on it.
Smells very simialr to fantasy although fantasy wins as it doesn't make me nauseaus.
Fancy is a gourmand lovers dream come true.
Creamy almond cake with fruity berries, pears and apricots in the opening. The bottle reminds me of a wedding cake. It smells sickingly sweet sniffed straight from the bottle, but once it has had time to warm up on your skin, its delicious. Warm, nutty and vanillary. Great for spraying in winters the golden ambrosia warms you up instantly. My winter staple. Easy on the pocket too.
I already have Fancy Love and decided to give Fancy a try. At first at the Macy's counter I thought it was too sweet smelling. I keep going back and smelling it and it grew on me. I just bought a little 1oz size, and LOVE IT! It smells almost exactly like Victoria's Secret Heavenly Angels Forever! Which is another one I love! I literally sprayed Fancy on one wrist and VS stuff on other and holy cow almost idential to me! LOVE IT. Now I want the biggest bottle they make!
i feel i have to protect this bottle not because it might break but because i fear ants may crawl into it and drink it.
I loved Britney Spears' Fantasy so much that I decided to try this perfume too. It's very similar to Fantasy, which is a floral-fruity-gourmand. I absolutely love this fragrance, more than Fantasy. The drydown is better. Fancy smells like a waffle cone topped with a scoop of caramel-swirled vanilla ice cream, mixed with cotton candy and sugared fruit--delectable! It's waaaaay better than Pink Sugar, which smells like gross, burnt, charred caramel. The caramel in Fancy is not overpowering at all, but blends delicately with all the other notes. The white floral notes add a fresh touch to all of the ooey-gooey sugar. Awesome cheap find!
I used to have this and used to like it but could not finish even half the bottle, because after some time I simply found it too sweet for me. It's more for young girls (teens).
Can't wait to get this one. Not too sweet, just the right amount of livliness in the burst of floral in between the melting vanilla and spice.A touch of sexiness and sultriness without being cloying.Love this.
I was pleasently surprised by this perfume. I do not really care about Jessica Sipmson but this smell is really nice. Like a delicious vanilla pudding with peach topping. Mhhmmm... This is quite a lovely fragrance. It lasts pretty long and is worth the money.
I recommend it to all gourmand and foody fans!
too sweet like hypnotic by Dior ,it will be a good for who loves caramel and sweet scents ..nice but i love pink sugar than that caramel scent :)
It is funny how a scent changes over time. It either grows in you, irritates you or is just there like an horizontal line ( meaning that you're just okay with it and it doesn't excite you )
I bought Fancy yesterday, upon the first spray I got juicy cupcakes and then cupcakes. I felt clean, comforted, young and innocent. Whenever I spray fancy it reminds of goodtimes.
Fancy smells sweet but not over the top and I adore the bottle it looks an antique glass.
Ok so I decided to give Fancy a second chance, and to my surprise I truly enjoy it now! Yes it is sweet, as most have put it cake sweet but that's what makes it yummy, a fun scent to wear!
This is another small sample bottle of fragrance I chose from all the sample selections that were on sale at BCF. I wanted to love this fragrance because for a large bottle it is very inexpensive, but...it is just too sweet for me to love. I like if from a distance. It smells really great on other people. Perhaps my chemistry will change enough to enjoy this small amount during the summer months.
This is a very nice, sweet, night and day scent. When first applied, I smell sweetness, musk and amber. As it dries down the scent becomes powdery and I can detect the yummy caramel. At the very base I'm left with a sensual vanilla scent. Fancy is a warm, comforting fragrance that most young women will love!!
I don't like the smell. I know it gets good marks ;) but I can't get used to it. The smell annoys me somehow. Maybe red berries mixed here do the trick, they don't fit. It's hard to say what annoys me because the smell is complicate and easy at once: you feel disharmony and harmony altogether. And imo it's gourmand, only gourmand, not oriental.
Sometimes I feel as if I smelled fermented fruit.
The bottle is very pretty.
the scent is sweet and yummy. i love it and one of her best perfume.
I bought this after a year of debate. I loved the smell on the card, but once on you just can't get away from it. It's very very sweet and rich like vanilla caramel, but not powdery. On an empty stomache it makes me sick, but I like it for evenings and every once in awhile. I think my husband likes it better than I do. Overall I like it and it is a comforting scent, but I wouldn't wear it everyday. One thing I can say is it lasts a very, very long time
Fancy Love and Fancy are my two favorite scents that I have and I can never decide which fragrance I like more. Fancy is definetely more gourmand, more along the lines of her dessert series than Fancy Love which I can't even put into a genre .. I just think it is absolutely divine. This perfume I would say is delicious. I think Vanilla fragrances are my favorite of all and this to me is the perfect vanilla fragrance since it isn't straight up vanilla, its vanilla, caramel.. everything I would think of in a delicious dessert. Some people don't like to smell like a cupcake walking down the street, but gourmands are my personal favorite scents and Fancy for me is the perfect gourmand. Staying power is delicious.. scent is along the lines of In Control by Britney Spears if I could categorize it.. it is a perfect gourmand in my opinion
This has been my signature winter scent for 2 years now and I am in love with it. I wish I could wear it into summer. The guys love it and I even catch myself sniffing my risk in the middle of the day. On my skin it last all day long.So if your into vanilla scents Im telling you give this a try. You will not regret it.
I'm surprised so many like this fragrance. Vanilla and carmel -- big deal. Smells cheap to me. I can't believe anyone would think this doesn't last long. I could smell it 9 hours after I applied it. Love the bottle though.
This one is so lovely, so cute and light. I really love it, but its too soft, i wish it to last longer.
I was expecting someting long lasting like pink sugar (wich i REALLLLYYYYY LOVVVEE).
But for woeking place this is better than pink sugar.
I'm loving it anyway... even if i have to carry the bottle with me to reaply :)
I mean it lasts 3-5h, but i love really long lasting perfumes.
I am not sure how I feel about Fancy. A part of me is very drawn to it, but another part of me is repelled. I love vanilla but this may be TOO much vanilla, and to me it does smell synthetic. I kept trying to figure out what else it is that I smell in it that bothers me so much and a couple other reviewers named it for me....tobacco. I can SMELL the tobacco and it is overpowering on my skin and for me, while it is intriguing, also ruins the scent. It's like a delicate lady smoking a pipe. Such a shame as I adore the bottle and blind bought 100 mls of it.
Although I know I shouldn't, I have to admit that I really like this. I first smelled it in a magazine test strip and liked it instantly. It wasn't released in Australia at the time and I made a special visit to a rather depressing Kohl's department store on my next trip to the USA just to get hold of it. You know, the type of place where the cosmetic department shelves barely have any stock. The perfume testers are all empty and those that aren't have had the nozzles stolen - can someone explain to me why do people do that?
Anyway, this perfume has a soft caramel candy smell with a hint of musk. Surprisingly easy to wear, although I'm not all that crazy about the burnt sugar opening, that dies down pretty quickly. The bottle is a sweet as the juice. And here's a tip for all of you Jessica perfume fans out there: try spraying this one over a squirt of Fancy Nights. They blend together just beautifully. You get the best of both worlds, and it keeps your nose guessing for the day!
This is by far the most sweetest perfume in my collection. A very powdery vanilla cake smell and the staying power is positively amazing. A very comforting scent perfect for winter.
this is much lighter then i thought it would be .
good but nothing special .
I get the fruts and berrys in the begining and in come the flowers . i can not detact so much of the sweetnes in this . no almonds to my nose. a little bit of vanilla fudge . but just a tiny little bit.
was ecpecting somthing stronger like Pink sugar
Maybe too much amber, lovely vanilla base. It makes me smell like cupcakes. There is good sillage and the perfume is longlasting. I can smell it far away from the skin and the perfume lasts for the whole day. I have to admit that I like the cupcakes and I like the scent of cupcakes lingering on my clothing.
I get the almond, which I adore! Almond is the note that I have been searching for in my recent fragrance purchases. Also, this perfume is so perfect as long as it is not hot outside. I actually think that this might be my favorite perfume. It is a good deal too. The fragrance seems deceptively simple, but is beautiful and perfect. It is just as good as my Kenzo Amour and beats my Lolita by Lolita Lempicka so badly.
It is something that I could wear, but could also probably give as a gift to a teenager.
Sweety, light and yummy. It smells like vanilla.
I tried it at the perufmes shop, i do like it
Will buy it next month.
This is such a nice fragrance! I absolutely love it! I was looking for something vanilla and sugar-like since I loooooooooooove sweet cookie like smells :) I went to a shop and tested it on my skin and it lasted for HOURS! It's been about 22 hours now since I've tried it and I can still smell it on my skin! Incredible :) try this scent if you like caramel, vanilla-ish scents :)
Smells like a cake with vanilla frosting and sugar coated sprinkles!
Delicate, light, soft, foody, sweet, delicious, smooth, vanilla, caramel, almondy fragrance!
It starts out oriental at first spray as it’s quite strong with an unusual mix of apricot and red berries but then after 5 minutes it then settles down and softens into a lovely warm vanilla scent. A great gourmand frag!
There is no better word to describe this fragrance than ‘comforting’. It is the kind of scent you want to wear in the winter when it’s cold outside and pouring with rain and you’re tucked up inside, snuggled up by a warm fire.
Great sillage without being overpowering, and very long lasting!
Don’t be put off by the strong top notes as it goes really quick and you’re left with a vanilla, caramel, almond scent that lasts and lasts.
Highly recommend this if you’re a gourmand lover with a sweet tooth.
Yumminess in a bottle! And we all want to smell yummy, right?
i bought 100ml for just rm140 online :) when it is on sale.
hi loveable...
In malaysia is quite expensive i think for 3.4 oz is bout rm260..I prefer it u buy it on Ebay..i only get the biggest bottle bout rm90
OKAY, I'M A CONVERT!
Fancy got a 2nd chance from me over the weekend, and I must admit, I was wrong the first time! I like it...enough to get a bottle. It can be a bit synthetic, even a bit cloying at first as originally thought, but it still managed to shine through all of that enough to give me a pleasurable blend of gardenia, vanilla, fruit & caramel. The drydown is the best. Everything just balances itself out and unifies to a glorious gourmand finale!
I guess late is better than never... I'm officially a fan of Fancy.
I tried fancy at CVS and liked the scent, Jessica Simpson's scents are usually a sugary-overload. On my skin, it at first was a strong vanilla-caramel, amber scent, but then it softened into a soft floral, vanilla almost musk like. It was not way overpowering, not at all a stinky scent which I regretted later buying. Not at all the case here. It was nice how my body's personal chemistry melded it into a soft, light, floral vanilla that lasted on me. I have heard some say stay away. I gotta admit for some, it is a cheap perfume, but for me, it is a pretty scent.
This is a good fragrance if you like vanilla.... period. If you're not a fan then avoid like the plague. It is syrupy sweet...... not for me, but I can definitely see where it would appeal to those who like a sweet scent. They do say that young men, in particular, like sweet smells..... :)
Last week I was walking down the school hallway (and I was wearing Fancy). Some boys walked behind me and suddenly exclaimed "Wow it smells good here" "It smells like cake""Yes, or vanilla ".... This is the response you get by wearing this amazing perfume! ;)
I just bought Fancy today! I am in love! At first spray, Fancy is a little strong. In about 15 minutes, I smell gardenia (and maybe jasmine) with a mix of almonds. In about an hour, the dry down is amazing!!! I get a sweet caramel and vanilla scent that lasts forever! I have had it on for 6 hours and can still smell it on me :o)
This is definitely a keeper for me!
Sugar and spice and everything nice!
Fancy achieves a great balance of showcasing the complexity of caramel without being to cloying and the spice and complexity of vanilla beyond the commonplace antics.
This is a very well made scent. I ADORE this scent!
This is a foody comforting scent to me. I like to wear this when we go home to our home in the Seattle area....drizzling rain, tea kettle whistling, fire crackling, wool socks and cashmere sweaters. I like to wear this scent when I miss my mom. It is not something I would wear everyday, but I think it is a scent that can transport you somewhere. The type of scent that you want when the whole world has been mean to you that day and you just want to climb under your covers and doze. :)
If you like this or are looking for something similar, may I also suggest: Flowerbomb, Mariage (Amarige), Vanilla Fields, or Casmir by Chopard. They all evoke the same feelings to me.
okay, believe it or not--but when i smell this all i get is palmers cocoa butter!!!
a very good thing, so comforting and sweet and delicious. lovers of l lolita, pink sugar, hard candy, flowerbomb, go on and give this a try. its a sweet tooth satisfier.
I don't smell Fantasy or Pink Sugar at all with this. When I first spray, the red berries on the top note is the most apparent, they are sweet and tangy and it smells lovely. Around an hour later I can smell the caramel and then finally the vanilla. This is one of my favourite fragrances, trully amazing.
I was stunned when I smelled this. It has its originality at first, but after a few minutes, I could not tell the difference between this and Britney Spears Fantasy. I have a very strong nose (not a good thing, it leads to migraines)and this scent had the same sweetness, strength, sharpness, and powerful lasting power as Fantasy.
So here is my review for Fantasy and Fancy both together:
I love sweet fragrances like Miss Dior Cherie. And yes, this is very sweet too. But It is a different sweet.
Not real food sweet like vanilla, honey and blood orange that can have a mouth watering effect. Its rather a fake sweet. And It LASTS and LASTS. It has great staying power as well as good sillage.
I was dancing with this guy at a school dance and he said that I smelled amazing! Like cupcakes:) That is what this perfume smells like. It is PERFECT for anything. If you want to smell like sexy cupcakes...buy this perfume!
The ingredients are more than respectable quality and they all add up to one of the most wonderful gourmand scents out there. Add to this a very pretty container at a good price and what is there not to like!
On myself, the rich vanilla, smooth caramel and gardenia mesh together in such a unique way from beginning to final drydown. Sillage is good but not overpowering and it lasts for hours on my skin.
When it's cold and rainy up here in the northern rainforest there's nothing better than a hot bubble bath, a dab of 'Fancy' and snuggling down with the guy who's been there for me for over 50 years, our books and, of course, our neurotic greyhound.
This doesn't smell like anything else. It is creamy, sweet and sexy! Oddly enough I think the caramel and almond notes come off as popcorn to me (which I like). My boyfriend really likes this one too!
I LOVE THIS PERFUME!!!!! I HAVE BACKUP!!!!
i bought this perfume for my mom's bday and OMG i am so in love with this perfume when i tried to smell it a lil bit out from the box! And somehow i felt like i want to have this perfume for myself and buy my mom a new one! haha the smell is really sweet and im definitely will get one of this for myself ;)
The fruitiness is nice, but it goes away quickly to leave you with smelling like buttercream frosting for hours. Not necessarily a bad thing, but it can insude a headache.
Fancy is my favorite casual/day-time vanilla-based gourmand scent. Delicate, soft and sweet, you will love this if you love caramel and burnt-sugar notes but prefer a lighter scent. I agree with reviewers who compared this to Pink Sugar, except Pink Sugar is more artificial smelling, stronger and has this bratty 'tween' vibe about it. If they were girls, Fancy could be Pink Sugar's more graceful older sister. Aside from caramel, vanilla, I also get a hint of juicy red berries and florals (weird, but I get fresh roses instead of white flowers!). Maybe not an office or formal scent, but great for any other time and best suited for girls and women below 30, though anyone young at heart can wear this well. Staying power and silage is not bad for the price, but is more impressive when layered with the body lotion. Btw I'm currently on a diet to lose a few pounds, and anytime I'm craving something sweet, I sprtiz this on my hankie and take a deep breath :P
Hi nvnwf!!
Fancy its way better than L!!!! L is just like Vanilla Noir from Bath and Body Works.. Fancy is beautiful an more complex.. LOVE IT!!!
Yes I agree with vlanns comparison, though I'd love to add that Fancy is more creamy, smoothier and fruitier than L. L is more spicy and slightly salty. Fancy is very warm which screams 'hug me' from beginning to end, while L has a bit more edge to it and is less monotone. I like them both...
@nvnwf
eventhough they are both classified as Oriental Vanilla, but Fancy and L de Lolita have pretty different backgrounds imho.
Fancy is like sugar sprinkled cupcake, while L de Lolita is like cinnamon-powder sprinkled cupcake.
Moreover, Fancy is warm and sweet without the tangy 'sour-feeling' that L de Lolita have.
I personally love Fancy, and detest L de Lolita at all. Maybe it's because I live in a place with high temperature and humidity, so L de Lolita just like a 'bottled headache' to me.
Hope this comment helps you out :)
I've tried Fancy a few times. I guess the third time really is the charm. The first time I gave this baby a sniff I got a headache. The second time the fragrance smelt like vanilla and cough medicine. Determined, I tried again. This last time it smelt pretty good. I don't think I will be buying a bottle of this any time soon, but it's nice. It reminds me of cookies.
Gardenia overload.
I cannot sense any of the other notes. I love the scent of fresh gardenia, but this is so concentrated and overwhelming. I think I will take it to work and see if I can give it away.
just bought it nOw ,, amaizin creation of vanilla and caramel in a very strong formella .. sexy & sweet liked it alot :)
I don't find it synthetic at all. It's a soft and tender gourmand with a touch of fruit (clearly pear and apricot on my skin) at the beginning...somethimes I think csp vanille abricot should be just like this! The lasting power is great on me!
Its a strange synthetic sweet chemical creation?.. I can't stand it, gives me a headache. My 6 year old on the other hand - loves it? I actually do not think her Fancy Love is bad at all though..
I really like Fancy Love, but I hate this one. I love the idea of a caramel vanilla scent, and while this one does have that, it smells way too synthetic to me. It just isn't natural enough and it is way too strong. The only time I enjoyed this scent is after it had been on for most of the day and was wearing off it would have a very faint, yet warm caramel smell.
I am a sucker for foody gourmand scents and this is right up my alley. On me this lasts forever! I love this fragrance. My husband flips over this for some reason. To me it smells like caramely toasted almonds. I never really get any sort of floral or even the pear note that is suppose to be in this on my skin. It smells like a delicious dessert. Yum!
I bought this today, first of all im a perfume junky and i buy perfume at least once a week and i have never liked the sweet smelling fragrances i always used the fruity/ floral but i have been wearing delicious cotton candy by Gale Hayman and Pink Sugar and i really love them ( delicious cotton candy best) but they don't last long at all on the skin so i was trying to find a good scent that has vanilla in it that would stay with me threw the day and i researched a lot and came up with Fancy so i bought it i got the valentines gift set 3.4oz perfume 4oz lotion and a roller ball for $59 i think that's cheap for all that in my area...my impression is first i don't much like it but wait and it gets awesome... when i first spray it on its kind of sharp to the nose for around 5 to 10 min and i cant figure out what the notes are that make that smell kind of smells like dirt (sounds wierd i know) but then the smell is amazingly creamy in a way very scrumptious and then the last faze is also wonderful it smells like a vanilla cupcake or a doughnut....Very nice scent!!!!
This is my favourite perfume by Jessica Simpson. You can really smell the vanilla, caramel, and almonds. This is also very long lasting.
(This review is for Eau de Perfume).
FANCY was a pleasant surprise. I haven’t expected to find such a nice vanilla interpretation in the celebrity fragrance. The vanilla seems to be natural, delicious and not like synthetic sugar-overloaded frosting.
The fragrance starts with vanilla mixed with the red berries. The berries add this gorgeous, almost tart accent to balance the vanilla. The scent transforms into more floral vanilla in the heart notes. I do not get strong flowers in this fragrance. It think it is mostly jasmine. I do not smell much gardenia to my big relief as gardenia do not mix with my skin well. In about 1.5 hours the caramel slowly appears and mixes with vanilla. The fragrance at this point becomes more gourmand and sweet.
This is one of the best vanilla fragrances I have tried so far. The vanilla is very chic and elegant in this fragrance. It is not dark and mysterious but still very sensual. I think it will go perfect with the elegant silk and lace gown or lingerie for a romantic and intimate evening with the candlelight and soft music.
The sillage and longevity is good. You only need a light touch to get soft and nice effect. I sprayed it in the morning and the scent was still quite noticeable at 2PM. I would definitely recommend it for vanilla and gourmand lovers.
first of all i love love love the chunky handsome bottle with the floral swirls, the peachy-golden color of the cap and juice.
first spray is very juicy and foody, warm and sensual. very gourmand and niiice, no discusting alkohol or detergent smell in the top. like most of celeb-perfumes do have. topnotes followed by sweet white flowers, caramel and almond, soooo delicious in the heart well blended from top to base which is vanillic with nice smooth cedar.
its way quite similar to the first cathy guetta ibiza perfume but this one is more gourmand while ibiza is more in the oriental part.
really very lovely perfume - well done jessica! stunning sillage on me. longivity very good too! luv luv luv i m happy to have it and it will range in my fave dayfumes of course :o))))
Smells like a fresh doughnut from the bakery !!
I tend to avoid 'Movie Star' fragrances. For the fun of it, however, I sprayed some of this scent on my wrist when I was in a Perfumania store. When I smelled it , I thought 'OH MY GOSH!!!!'. I really loved it, and ended up buying it. I see some people saying it's gourmond, but I get a wonderful full fragrance that almost comes off as a sweet wood. I think that this is created by the caramel and sandalwood elements.
On me, the jasmine and the gardenia are more like soft ornament emphasising the the almost tobacco like fragrance of the caremel and sandalwood.
THere is a pipe tobacco called 'Captain Black Gold', and this scent reminds me of the sweet rusticness of the Captain, with the gentle florals.
As a feminine fragrance, this reminds me of romance, forests, and fine chocolates. I am fine with wearing this scent, smelling this scent, and even THINKING about this scent. On me, it has a balance that I really love that is deep, feminine, and golden.
I keep trying Fancy when I pass the tester in the store because it is so popular. But I just can't wrap my head (or maybe nose?) around this one. Normally I like sweet, gourmand scents, but there is something about Fancy that smells cheap. I suppose for the price point (I frequently see it discounted to around $20) it's a decent scent, but there are better, sweet gourmand fragrances on the market. Hanae Mori, for instance, is an amazingly sweet, cupcake-like gourmand that is miles better than Fancy.
I'm also not a huge fan of the clunky, chunky bottle, and the word fancy is a kind of lame name for a fragrance.
Victoria´s Secret perfume Stardust, who was made this year smells exactly like this one. They smells gorgeous ofcourse. I got Fancy as a test today because i read that Stardust would smell like Fancy, wich it does,i have Stardust at home too and love them both, so now i am going to buy a big bottle of Fancy =)
Cake! That's exactly what this perfume smells like. Smells so yummy like you just walked out of a bakery. Delicious! :)
I spraying some on this morning in the department store and at first I didn't like it, but now (8 hours later) it smells so delicious: I mainly smell vanilla, but more complicated and subtle. Very nice.
Update, the more I wear this, the more it reminds me (subtly) of sweet tobacco. I really can't keep my wrist from floating up to my nose.
Fancy is genius. I brought it blindly after reading the reviews and seeing the discounted price. It is a great scent that has lasting power. At first it starts off floral, and dries down to a beautiful vanilla gourmand scent. It is an EDP, so a little goes a long way. It easily lasts 8 to 10 hours. My husband loves the scent (after it dries), which makes it all worthwhile for me. What makes it even more genius is that it can be purchased at your local discount retailer, middle class women deserve to smell "Fancy" as well. At the price of it you are able to purchase a new bottle of Fancy as soon as it runs out. This scent is best worn during cooler months, and worn day or night. During the spring/summer the bees may easily mistake you for a fancy petunia. The house of Simpson has a winner here, and I look forward to purchasing this scent as well as others from this designer.
Jessica Simpson doesn't stray too far from her dessert line of body products with this perfume. This is all about yellow cake with vanilla frosting and those little colored sprinkles. However, it's slightly more complex than just rubbing vanilla extract behind your ears--there's a faint tartness in the beginning that is unfortunately gone far too quickly. I love vanilla gourmand scents, so this hits all the right spots for me. I would have called it "Comfort" instead of "Fancy" though. If you prefer cake-like sweet smells instead of the cotton candy fragrances (pink sugar) or sweet kool-aid scents (Midnight Fantasy), then this would be worth a try.
This is my first review :) I have been testing this for a few months now...and I finally bought a 1oz bottle. At first it reminds me alot of viva la juicy, which I do like sniffed from the bottle but on me juicy it is a bit too strong and sweet. Fancy, after about 20 minutes, dries down to a smooth caramel and vanilla with a bit of almond. I like it.
I bought this one blindly, just based on plenty of good reviews about it and the vanilla notes behind of it. The first sniff didn't actually grow on me. I thought it was fruity, not something like vanilla. Then about 15minutes, the dry down really surprised me. I got the vanilla and caramel! It smells like burnt marshmallow and toffe apple. The smell is kinda sweet which I really adore. I haven't fully used the first bottle, however I already got the set which includes body lotion and shower gel. I have no regrets about this one eventhough I never really knew Jessica Simpson.
I remember myself testing this perfume every time in a drugstore. I wanted to buy it but the price for 50ml was to high for me. So I waited until it dropped to 20 dollars for 100 ml :)) and happily bought it. For me this is a very feminine fragrance and vanilla in it isn't very strong.
It was raining yesterday and my husband asked me what I was wearing. He said that this perfume is very delicious and pleasant though he didn't like it once I was testing it, for him it was too sweet :))
I just bought this perfume, n just so you know, this is the 4th time i buy this one. I really love this perfume, it's so lovely, i feel like dancing, it's so exotic. I really adore Jessica who could made a perfume like this. FANTASTIC!!!!
I really have changed my mind about this one. At first I thought I liked it well enough. I figured, "Vanilla based scents are like pizza. Even if it's bad it's still good, right?" I was wrong because this didn't do anything for me. NO staying power, just like Fancy Nights. And then I realized the vanilla is too artificial even for me. I guess after owning Lavanilla Pure Vanilla, nothing seems to compare.
P.S. Hard Candy is also better. Has similar notes and achieved what I think Fancy tried to do.
extremely longlasting but unfortunately it´s disgusting honey frag, which i can´t stand. a blind buy, which i regret alot. i passed it to my mother.
Just bought this, a 100 ml bottle for only $20! I'm really glad I did- it's going to be prefect for the upcoming cold winter and holiday season. I sort of grew out of gourmand fragrances, because I find they make everyone around me feel sick. But I heard this brings LOTS of compliments, so i'm anxious to see!
I can see how many people may like this scent because of its vanilla/caramel tones but for me this it too cloyingly sweet and gourmand. I generally like gourmand scents but with this one it just seems to stuff itself up my nose that I just can't get a respite. I prefer fragrances that show themselve once in a while and remind you that it's there so you don't neglect it but there's no escape from this one.
I do recommend if you spray this, walk through the mist instead of spraying yourself with it...otherwise it'll not only be giving you headaches but also people around you. Someone told me once that they just can't stand it anymore because it was too strong. Definitely not an office scent but I can understand why some may want to put it on to be nice and cozy at home in front of a fireplace in winter. It certainly does have that warmth to it but still not for me =/
This one is quind of different from all celebrities scents. I think its also very sweet, very vanilla, but has a quind off a cigarette smell that I really like. It ca be overly sweet yes, but applied with carefully its really cozy. Nice to wear at christmas. The bottle is also really sweet, but the name...who calls a perfume "fancy"??? Its just so redneck...
But..give it a try, its really nice :)
This is a very pleasant and soft sweet gourmand scent. On me I get caramel, peach, vanilla and berries with a hint of fresh white blossoms to keep the composition from smelling too syrupy...all those notes are balanced by warm nuances of amber to keep it all together. The scent stays pretty linear and quite simple but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Sillage is present and pleasant and longevity is pretty good (around 7-8hrs on my skin). Like someone mentioned it is youthful, yummy, and lovely without being too girly or 'teeny'. Great for everyday, daytime wear :D
NOTE: I find this to be a less 'obnoxious', less 'plasticky' and more wearable version of Pink Sugar (don't get me wrong, I LOVE Pink Sugar in all its loud sweet plasticky glory!), Fancy is Pink Sugar minus the strong cotton candy note and minus the citrusy top notes. So if you enjoy Pink Sugar, and want a calmer and more 'refined' version of it for daily wear, Fancy is it, both have delicious burnt-sugar/caramel nuances that I love, but in Fancy, the 'burnt-sugar' is wrapped in a veil of fuzzy amber, toned down and less in-your-face. If you are not into 'burnt-sugar' scents, you won't like this one.
A big thanks to Rou for sending me a sample of this one!
i bought this perfume without smelling. i just trusted the positive reviews and i think i did a good job:)i loved it. it really sweet. but when u spray first u may not like it.after staying about 5 minutes the perfume shows itself very well. i want to thank to fragrancex.com cos i only paid 30 dollars for 100 ml perfume and lotion and shower gel. no way i could find it in TURKEY. if you like sweet caramel vanilla fragrance thats for u..
I am not a fan of Jessica Simpson but this fragrance caught my attention because of its strong vanilla note. Well, this is what all the reviews had to say online so I bought a bottle online unsniffed.
As some of the other reviewers have noted there doesn't seem to be much difference between the base notes, middle and top ones and that the fragrance is rather even without any hugely discernible difference from beginning to end. There is some truth to this in that the vanilla is always there front and centre. The initial spray includes an abundant amber presence and I could swear I detect a bit of coconut but that isn't on the list of notes. The first time I wore this I thought there was some Play Doh but on the second day of testing this smell was (thankfully) absent. Once in a while I could swear I smell some fruit but then it's gone. The carmel note occasionally pops up and tempts me into wanting to cheat on my healthy eating plan but I manage to control myself.
This settles in pleasantly and inoffensively but always with lots of vanilla. This is a vanilla fragrance in all but name. Unless maybe "fancy" is how a preacher's daughter would describe vanilla.
I like it, which surprises me. Not just because it is a celebrity fragrance but also due to its uncomplicated formula. I will be slotting this in with my other standby autumn and winter fragrances (Lolita Lempicka and Ambre Narguille from Hermessence) because it will fit in nicely and without any fuss. Unless I get very bored by it I can see myself buying another bottle when this is gone.
this is heavenly! any 1 know baby rose jeans (versace)?? i was looking for a replacement vanilla and this is it yay! i normally hate gourmand fragrances but wow! i am impressed but decided to buy j lo mini pack glo of 4 different glo but could have bought this instead (which is a better celebrity) and now im sad but ill buy her next pay day because i have no gourmand in my collection and i really would be glad to own one but have never been able to handle them
not really like this. just tried once then decided to give to my cousin...she wear this scent everyday, it smell so good in her, makes me want to buy new one for me.. i think should give this fragrance a 2nd chance.
oh i hated the cap..looks cheap & ugly..
I tried this one out and it smells like a bakery with all the vanilla and sweet smells . It doesn't smell bad at all but it could bring on a severe case of the munchies and cause you to eat excessive amounts of pastry. It smells so much like bakery goods that it should be gourmand not Oriental.
Do not use around people who are on a weight loss plan.
I like this scent. I bought this without testing last year mostly because I read so many good reviews about it. It is very sweet vanilla mixed with peaches and other fruits fragrance. I wouldn't say it is very similar to Britney Fantasy, witch I like more. Overall it is good perfume but still Fantasy is much better. I don't think I will buy it again.
wow. words cannot describe how this perfume makes me feel. it takes me to another place spiritually...i almost feel uncomfortable saying that because that does not sound normal. there is no other perfume that rocks my world like this one does daily. they definitely got it right with this one. and the lasting power is remarkable. this is now my favorite perfume. its so beautiful, sensual, and delicate, not too in your face bold, but i feel extremely feminine with this one on. wow and wow again. and the fellas love it too.
I have already written a review on this, but just wanted to say a bit more. I have been wearing this insanely delicious scent for the past week, and have gotten compliment after compliment. It is a warm berry/vanilla/musk. Like a fantastic pastry shop. Its a bit sweet for the 95 degrees days we are having now, but who cares. In the cold snowy winter coming up, Fancy is sure to warm me up!
When I first tried this, I thought "Oh...another nice, creamy (yet boring) vanilla, how nice." So I walked throughout the mall as normal. But something about this kept coming back to me. It was so soft, creamy, but then I could also pick up a few of the berry notes! It's heaven actually. Thick vanilla cream, loads of caramel, with a hint of red berry and amber! WOW.
It's one of those scents that is not offensive. Just about everyone loves vanilla, right? I'm a teacher and I wear this to class. It makes me feel pretty, fun and flirty. JS really put her foot in this-No, like really, I can taste a toe nail ;) Kidding LOL, but I was really shocked at this.
Sillage is great on this, I'm happy to report for my sillage-whores such as myself. Lasting power is about 4 hours with sillage, and another 4-6 hours close to the skin. On clothing, you can get an easy 16-24 hours!
This perfume is almost perfect.. i wasn't a sweet cologne fans, but when i bought Fancy (i just bought it with blind purchase just because i'm a huge fans of Jess), i became a vanilla big fans, i'm addicted to this perfume... very very compliment maker :D
At first spritz, the berry notes and the combination of vanilla smelled great, making it not too easy to know about the scent. Then,in a few minutes,it is a warm sugar cookie or any dessert with plain vanilla in it,but it is very sugary. But in a few drydowns,it turns into a light soft vanilla. It lasts like 8-10 hours on me,so you shouldn't mind getting a tiny bottle.
beautiful vanilla scent. On me the lasting quality is poor.but, then im olfactory challenged!Somw fumes r for young girls, and,I think this is one.
Oh my goodness! This scent is crazy sweet. Like walking into a bakery full of fresh vanilla/caramel cookies and coffee. It's almost hard to wear this because its so amazing! I can tell you that a little goes a looooooooooooooong way. This perfume stays on for hours and hours, probably 12 hours for me. The bottle is also very beautiful. MMMMMM.. very nice indeed.
One should never form an opinion prior to testing a fragrance out on the skin. Granted, some fragrances don't develop into anything more than what could be sprayed into the air or spritzed onto a paper strip. Yet, most good perfumes will warm up and evolve once applied to it's wearer. A GREAT perfume will really settle into the skin and it's many layers will unfold. While most of us know this, I feel that this rule is especially true of Jessica Simpson's Fancy. Out of the bottle, Fancy smells like a one-note syrupy juice. In all honesty, I did not suspect that I would like this. I was pleasantly surprised. On my skin, Fancy is simply beautiful! It is softly sweet, fresh and warm. Fancy opens with a bright, happy mix of pear and caramel. There is a touch of "juiciness," which is likely the apricot and red berries. The caramel lasts throughout, with amber, toasty almonds and musk being the most detectable notes from middle to end. Fancy smells quite a bit like Burberry Brit, with the latter being more tart and tangy in the open. After about an hour of wearing both, (one on each arm), I must say that they smell nearly identical. With that in mind, Fancy is a more affordable, equally lovely alternative to Brit.
additional review!!! Gosh! eversince I recieved this from my husband i recieved nothing but compliments, everybody in my relatives and friends loves it! My friend, sister and stepmother are dreaming that one day they can also get one for themselves! My friend loves vanilla and she said Fancy has the most sophisticated and yummy vanilla scent. I tried Fancy's lasting power one night in one of my clean shirt, and guess what??? the scent lasts for 3 days and still counting. It also left a light golden brown color in my shirt. It's a total love for me because I love fragrance that lasts forever, I don't need to put a lot and that's a plus because I can save more of this perfume. It's worth every penny and it'll drive your men wild...my husband embraces and kiss me everytime I wear it! even my nephews said that of all my perfume collection, Fancy is the best for them! Can't wait to see and try Fancy Nights! If it's as lovely as Fancy, I'll definitely get that one and add it to my collection...also looking forward to get Fancy Love which is also very beautiful scent...
I just got this at macy's when I was with my cuz / baby bro and uncle I love it so much! You can tell all the notes right when you first smell it mainly the carmael vannila amber pear and sandalwood.
She will release Fancy Nights in the summer. Its in the same bottle as Fancy but done up in dark green this time. The notes are bergamot, Egyptian papyrus, Indonesian patchouli, Bulgarian red rose, Night Blooming Jasmine, creamy vanilla, soft sandalwood, amber and oakmoss. Its a spicy oriental floral. It sounds nice and something completely different from a celebrity. I cant wait to try it. : )
I have had this perfume in my collection since last summer and even though I have loved it, been a bit intimidated to actually try and wear it. I think I love it, then when I spray it have been overwhelmed with the sweetness.(this and gourmands in general.)
I am trying it again tonight. I have to say I love it! (shock of all shocks... was thinking of giving it away if I didn't!) :)
It is obviously a vanilla based one, but I have to say after realizing that I really love vanilla based perfumes and sampling different ones over the last few months, this one is done so very nicely! You just have to make sure to not breath in the spray in your nose, and let the wrists breath before you smell it. :) Because then it will overpower you with the sweetness probably.
My wrists smell like this lovely almond caramel praline vanilla cookie. Mmmmm!!! So very nice! And now that I have worked up the guts to be trying gourmands the last month or so, this one is nicer than all the other icky sweeties out there. It is sweet and yummy. But it isn't really chemically, or nauseating. It is very comforting and delicious but it is a light soft delicate vanilla once it settles into your skin. This is so feminine and I feel sexy but in an innocent, girl next door, just being your beautiful natural fabulous self ~ kind of way. :) And that is exactly what I like, a fragrance that is wonderful but allows me to be myself. :)
It is sweet but doesn't beat you over the head with it or make you want to gag. It is lovely, sweet, innocent, and sexy all at once. You will feel delicious wearing it and comfee cozy happy. :)
I am so glad I bought it and rediscovering it again! I might wear it all week! :) So very lovely and feminine. I can definitely seeing young teens, women and tweens loving the sweetness. But it isn't really icky or overpowering. Nothing you would get sick or nauseated by.
That being said... Just to note. = This is testing it in a way where I spray the air... and then waft my wrist through the spritz cloud. So I did not spray directly onto my skin because I was really afraid of being nauseated by an overpowering icky sweet concoction/ nightmare. So maybe if I sprayed it full strength it would? But I think as long as you spray in moderation and have your windows open, you will be fine.
I am sensitive so some of the chemicals in some perfumes, and I think if I sprayed it strongly maybe I would have a problem but no headache here! Also for those nauseated by some of the other badly done horrible icky gourmands, you will really like this one.
I am so very fussy and get turned off by a lot of them that are overly sweet. This one is lovely soft and nice. And older women would probably love it too. It isn't so little girl that it turns you off. It is delicious and comforting without being too sweet. Two thumbs up! :D
I agree this is a desert type of sweet fragrance. It`s sweet like vanilla icecream with caramel sauce and some spicy cookies. I don`t think it`s a sophisticated fragrance but something I would like to wear on a cold evening, on a couch watching a good movie. I could wear this outside the house too, don`t get me wrong. Maybe a casual dinner with the girls?
A truly divine fragrance. There are so many fragrances that has a very lovely bottle but have terrible scent...with Fancy, you'll never be fooled. The bottle is as sophisticated as the scent! It's DIVINE! I give it 10/10.
This is a truely foody fragrance. Smells of freshly baked vanilla cupcakes with a yummy berry frosting. Actually reminds me of a less intense version of Fantasy. But Fancy manages to smell artificial whereas Fantasy does not. Once you get past the opening you are left with a warm and beautiful vanilla fragrance. I enjoy this and wouldn't mind owning a bottle. If you are looking for a vanilla scent with a little something extra then you would like this. ;') Has great lasting power and a moderate projection.
I really like this one. I find it to be a very lovely oriental/vanilla gourmand fragrance.
There is a lot of sweetness, but also a tartness. Like a caramel jam scent. I can smell the fruits, the pear, berries, rich caramel, and vanilla. I find some similarity to Pink Sugar, but I like this one more. It has a lot of more depth and is it is ultra long lasting.
It is a fun scent, sexy and very sweet, and I love sweet gourmand fragrances. I find myself reaching for this one quite frequently. Whenever I wear it, I do get good feedback from both men and women. I do not regret purchasing this one at all, and will buy it again.
Lasting power is fabulous on me, one spray on neck and wrists lasts me the day, and it is still there even the next day on my clothes. I find the sillage is excellent on me too.
Don't be swayed that it is Jessica Simpson perfume, she is a great girl with a million eyes following her every move...personally, I think she is talented and great!
Very happy with this one! 10/10 from me.
I do NOT like it ! It smells just like Jessica herself- cheap, syntetic sweet, annoying and very very vulgar disguisied into a neighbourhood girlie that bakes vanilladrenched muffins all day long. Its so vulgar ,tha vanilla is not enjoyable att all - Yuck!
Sweet, sweet! Fancy is like a confectionery at a bakery, a sticky bun glazed in a thick layer of vanilla-flavored sugar. The jasmine blooms after about 20 minutes, but it's quite faint. This perfume is 99% dessert pastry, so if you love vanilla and sweet gourmand scents, this one is for you.
yay! im so happy that i have purchaced this perfume, its so yummy, and very girlie, its very sweet but also very fresh the bottle is so cute aswell and my husband loves it he thinks it smells like vanilla icecream...
it lasts about a day!i bought a 100 ml bottle and i quickly tore the pakaging open.i smelled it and it was fabulous!i agree with everyone that it smells like dessert.i also agree with sharyssa that it's a little synthetic but at drydown, its not synthetic anymore.the bottle is pretty.it will be best for teens and great to wear during the winter.i can smell red berries at first spritz but goes away in a few minutes.i like the fact that it also has a fruity side ;o
I must say that Fancy was not a fragrance I expected to like, but I really do think it's a pretty neat little scent.
On me, it's a tangy, creamy, buttery, vanilla type confection. The first blast of scent is red berries and apricots. I think the berry is more closely cherry than strawberry to me. I love how almost every note is easily picked up in this fragrance! I can smell everything with the minor exception of the gardenia and sandalwood, which works for me.
There is just enough of everything in order for you to smell delicious without it being overbearingly sweet. Yay! I really like this for the winter. I woke up this morning not feeling so hot, it's cold, rainy, and dreary outside so I needed the fragrance of comfort foods today. Fancy really filled the bill. Try it, I think you'll like it. I rate it 8 out of 10.
Fancy 100% deserves its popularity - it's wonderful! The opening is a fairly typical explosion of fruits, but within fifteen minutes Fancy begins settling into a comforting foody almond. It's faintly nutty, faintly white-floral, but mostly sweet. The texture is powdery like Tocade, but Fancy is more straightforward about it. Whereas Tocade accompanies its vanilla with a complicated fanfare of roses, lilies, and patchouli, Fancy is a linear amber-caramel-vanilla. It's wonderfully balanced with a no-fail combination of notes; why can't more designers do this? So simple, but just the thing to warm you down to the toes and make you giggle.
I tend to dislike gourmands as an entire category, but there are a few that I like. Fancy is one of them. Maybe there'll be a bottle for me in the future :)
I've heard of Jessica Simpson, but not enough to form any bias against or for this perfume, which I guess was lucky because I've seen a lot of reviews disliking this perfume on the simple basis that it bears her name.
I saw this being reviewed in a local magazine and decided to give it a try since I've always been a big fan of vanilla scents.
What can I say? I love it! Topnotes, middle and base notes...all mixed to perfection! Like a beautiful song. (Pun intended, definitely LOL) Lasts for a long time too!
It's flirty, without being too much so. It's very womanlike without smelling too waif-like. And it's not too gourmand to smell naive.
Will definitely keep this one a staple on my dresser, despite it being a Jessica Simpson scent. I just hope they don't discontinue it.
I love this perfume! For me it's a happy scent...love the caramel almond scent...very uplifting.... = )
I bought Fancy today after reading the positive reviews here. It's really a wonderful fragrance that I can wear day and night. I tried other perfumes at the store counter today and this one is the only one that lingered and stayed long. I thought the scent is familiar to Britney's Fantasy, but Fancy has more to it that I like better. I sprayed Fantasy and Fancy on each of my wrists, the Fancy stayed longer and dried down so much better! It's giving me a calming mood and sexy feeling at the same time. The bottle is beautiful too, perfect for display!
A gorgeous flacon that kinda reminds you of an Alice In Wonderland tea party. The scent itself is practically Vanilla cupcakes with caramel frosting and lashings of sweetened condensed milk. There are mature attributes to this that prevents it from becoming like a "Teddy Bears Picnic" kind of scent.
A sweet, heady and comforting scent that gradually becomes nauseating after a while.
I have a huge bottle of this.It took me a long time to decide on buying this. But, I regret buying it.I don't reach for it often its very sweet and it is not very long lasting.I find it turns sour on my skin I guess its just me.It smells like dulce de leche its yummy but not very complex.I won't repurchase this again.
This one is really nice, very yummy, very vanilla & caramel,in my skin smell really delicious but i smell it in a friend and smell really diferent reminds a lot to burberry Brit drydown
I just recieved the 30ml today for xmas, and God I'm in love with this stuff. When I first sprayed it, it wasn't as sweet as I'd expected-it smelt alot like 'Chanel Coco Mademoiselle' so I was kinda thinking where's the caramel at? But then I re-applied a tad bit more and I started to smell like a caramel-frappacino-with-strawberries-and-cream literally. I must get the 100ml bottle, it's just too lush!
This is lovely! It is quite strong at first for me but dries down quickly. This one puts me in a happy mood!
Grabbed up another bottle of this yesterday.Just cruising the perfumes at Marshalls and looked over and seen one 3.4 ounce sitting all by it's lonely! So I grabbed it and only paid $19.99.It is a bit synthetic but man when it dries down it sweetens and I mean sweetins up something fierce! Good lasting power I smell it everytime I put on my coat!
i likie! At first, i have to admit that i thought it wasnt going to be that great of a scent because not many celebrity scents are, but i was very mistaken. it lastss a really long time too
wow.... i am not one to say that i have a signature scent since i love so many. But if i were to have one, this is what it would smell like. warm vanilla and berries. how much better does it get? it doesnt smell like baked goods to me, its more or a champagne vanilla, which is what i like. in the dry down, it gets just the tiniest bit powdery. i trully love this scent. Im glad i re-sniffed it :) it seems as i get older i like sweeter and sweeter scents. crazy huh?
I have to confess that I love Fancy. Normally I'm not a celeb fragrance fan and I hate synthetic smell.
However, in Fancy the top synthetic fruity smell isn't that overwhelming and it goes away really fast and somehow I like it, I don't have a headach or nausea when it's Fancy.:-)
The mid and base notes are what make me fall for it. It smells like creamy cakes and candies, (I've got a lot of vanilla, caramel, but not too much floral scent)which makes me think about carefree childhood and grandma's cookies.
To me, Fancy is rather a cute gourmand scent than an oriental vanilla.
Even though I love Fancy, I wouldn't wear it too often because to smell like sweets and cakes isn't my thing, but I usually spray it in my room and the scent always make me smile.
Such a comforting perfume! worth trying or maybe just get yourself a bottle(to me, it's not expensive, especially when it comes to the large bottle :-D).
Very nice sweet, light amber scent IMO. Not a sickenly sweet scent though and lasts throughout the day on me.
Good lookin out Mandashell I went to Target lastnight and bought the giftset! I was searching high and low for this at a good price and finally got it! Thanks! I like this one it is lighter than I expected but it is long lasting,I was so anxious to wear it I wore it to bed and woke up still smelling it. A very feminine caramel scent reminds me of L de Lolita Lempicka but lighter.
A warm scent really does remind you of vanilla cupcakes with lashings of caramel. Not a childish scent - but it isnt serious enough either.
you'll be easily fed up with the perfume, its tedious and irritating after a while
this does not at all smell like pink sugar. i don´t like pink sugar, it smells very artificial and you get bored with after like a weak.
fancy is not a "teeny" fragrance, at least not to me. it´s very warm with a lot of vanilla and caramel. absolutely lovely
O.k. I'm not sure about all the fancy layers I should be picking up on this but I did decide, about 30 minutes after putting it on, that it strongly resembles guava juice. Very sweet guava juice. I thought it was "interesting", my boyfriend made me wash it off. Hmmmm......
This perfume is a very good scent, I was pleasantly surprised the first time I smelled it, it's a very warm vanilla-caramel-cupcake concoction with some toasted almonds thrown in there which keep it from getting too sweet. It smells so much like Viva La Juicy to me (especially the drydown) and it has way better lasting power than Viva La Juicy. I disagree that it smells like Pink Sugar or Fantasy. This is one of the best celebrity perfumes out there in my opinion.
I finally bought a bottle. I adore this perfume. Soft vanilla and caramel, like a candy. But sexy and sweet, and a little bit of innocence. When I wear this it makes me feel pretty. And that is what a perfume is for.Well done Jessica Simpson.
People keep saying this smells exactly like Pink Sugar, and I see the resemblance but at the same time, they almost smell nothing alike. Fancy has almost a sexy and seductive quality to it that I do not think of at all when I wear or smell Pink Sugar. I absolutely adore this scent. It's so feminine and just an elegant understated sexy fragrance. I always get compliments when I wear this scent, especially from men. It's a beautiful long lasting fragrance, I definitely recommend this one!
For all you Fancy lovers: The giftsets are out!! Was at target tonight and saw one that included a 3.4oz perfume, 1.7oz body wash and a 1.7oz lotion. All for the low price of $29.99. So if you love it then you need to stock up while you can!!! ;'D
This does smell exactly like Pink Sugar.
Despite the two smelling very similar, seeming that Pink Sugar isn't readily available in Australia, this for some will be unique.
I really love the sugary sweetness in Fancy, although for some this will be quite sickening. You've definitely got to have a sweet tooth for fragrances like these.
Fancy is quite warm with a gourmand, dessert like quality. I sense a lot of apricot, caramel and vanilla, which together makes an adorably girlish and pretty fragrance.
I must repeat that this isn't for people that dislike sweet scents or gourmands. But for those of you that love scents of this kind, Fancy and you are sure to fall in love.
I tested this one at Priceline today, I went to Myer first but they didn't know that this perfume existed. (from Australia). I usually walk right by the celeb perfumes but after reading the reviews on this one from this site, I thought I would give it a try.
Wow. Yum! I love it, so sweet but in a cosy, delicious way. The pear, gardenia and caramel/vanilla are just gorgeous together. The dry down is a silky vanilla. So cheap too (doesn't smell cheap though), AU$64 for 100ml in Priceline. I think I might ask for it for Xmas, I have already bought 2 perfumes this week :)
EDIT: Bought this a few days ago. GOd I love it. Best perfume I have ever owned, it puts me in a happy mood when I wear it.
Starts off as a very pretty scent with fruity and vanilla tones. Very sweet and cupcake-like. After about 30 mins the fruity smell leaves and all I am left with is sugar, vanilla, sugar, vanilla, sugar....and did I say vanilla? It stays for hours and hours and becomes annoying. I don't know why, but all sweet perfumes with vanilla dry down to pure sugar on my skin. None of the other notes like to stick around. If the first few notes in this perfume were to stick around I'd LOVE this perfume. Since it doesn't I can only say I like it. However my husband loves it! I wouldn't wear this every day as I would soon get sick of it, but every once in awhile I will spritz it on. It's still a lovely perfume overall.
LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE Jessicas Fancy!! Just found the 3.4oz at TJMaxx for $20!! How awesome is that!! I bought it for my aunt. Shes gonna LOVE it!!
I can't say enough about this wonderful fragrance and constantly have people asking me what perfume I am wearing. The bottle design is whimsical and I can understand why Jessica being a Texas gal called it Fancy... as it reminds me of simple Southern charm.
Yummm this is goooorgeous i can defo smell vanilla! and the caramel i think..im not good at recognising notes! It smells like cookies and cream :) but in a nice fragrance way not like a walking bakery! The smell is strong and it seems to last a long time everywhere i go i catch the smell on me even if im just turning my head or playing with my hair..that might get annoying as its so sweet but so far i LOVE it. This is a joint fave with ed hardy now :D
The bottle looks very unoriginal. The scent was very very sweet. Too much sweetness in a bottle. I felt nauseated after awhile.
Like the way this smells but i noticed about 30 mins after application, i had 2 little bumps break out on my neck. hope it's not because of the perfume cuz i really like it. Smells vanilla-ish and seems long lasting.
smells great, like freshly baked cupcakes. the only thing is i dont wanna smell like food. i might even cause myself to crave cupcakes if i wear this. i'll pass
Yummy^^, this smells like candy, It's like a toned down version of pink sugar. Soft and sweet. I can smell vanilla and caramel. Love the scent. Its strong and longlasting.
When we first got this perfume at work, I though I wouldn't like it enough. Turns out, I've been wearing this for three days straight... Which is absolutely unusual for me. Wonderful! I looove vanilla, and this one just turns me on somehow. Haha!
I like this but I couldnt wear it everyday..it would give me a headache...but its ok to wear every now and then
So I finally got to test Fancy Love yesterday at Macys. It was nice but nothing to go crazy for. It smells like Ed Hardy's Luck & Love, Chloe by Chloe, and Burberry's The Beat to me. I perfer the original Fancy way, way, way more. But if I ever find it for a cheaper price, I'll definitely buy me a bottle.
I usually tend to stay away from vanilla based fragrances. However, I just love this perfume. When you first apply it to the skin, it smells very fruity and sweet and you could really smell the pear. After 20 minutes or so you could smell the caramel and vanilla with hints of floral notes(jasmine). Also, this fragrance has a long lasting power! This is a great fragrance to wear during holiday season!
@kenberlyc
honey, go ahead and wear what you like! you know that saying: "you're older, not dead". ;)
i'm sure it'll suite you just right if you wear it with the right attitude ;)
This is not a bad smell, very good and sweet, but not in a cheap celebrity fragrance way.It smells sweet but expensive and not childish.
Sweet and yummy. This is wonderful, youthful, but in a sexy sweet way. I don't have a bottle of it yet but have used it and I love the way it smells on me. But being almost 40 I am wondering if it may be a little young for me.
This is a lovely scent that skips around between sweet, tart, and floral. It's the extra bit of tartness that makes it wearable for me and sets it apart from other sweet scents like Princess and Pink Sugar. The bottle is gorgeous, to boot. I think the red berries are responsible for the tart accord and though I don't really smell the caramel or the white florals, the vanilla and amber stand out the most and are blended well with the fruit in the top notes. I have a sample that I've worn a couple of times but I haven't decided on a full bottle, yet. I just don't think it's special or interesting enough to for me to own, at the moment.
Jessica will be releasing her new fragrance in July called Fancy Love. Its notes are goji leaf, peach blossom, bergamot, blush champagne, lotus blossom, peony, plumeria, jasmine, rose, creamy amber, blonde woods, musk and patchouli. After really liking the original Fancy i have high hopes for Fancy Love! The bottle is in the same shape of the original Fancy bottle but done up in white and gold. It looks really pretty!
Smells like cupcakes! Very yummy. In fact, it should be called "Yummy" instead of "Fancy" because I almost want to eat it.
I'm not sure if a perfume that smells like a food is really worth buying though.
Today I sprayed it on a card & brought it home. It was very pleasant at 1st sniff & is still very nice 5 hrs later.
I'll test it on my skin soon & come back with more of a review.
I tried this fragrance last week without a great feeling but I was very surprise by it. Fancy is a very beautiful perfume to feel sexy and young. It smell like perfume I called ''Rose'' but is scent go away of ordinary ''Rose'' perfume...Light scent of flower give some sophistication to caramel and vanilla scent. Very long lasting. I love it!
I love this scent.
On me, the top notes are kind of synthetic, but after about 15 minutes that fades away and it's all caramel and almond. The caramel is sweet and candy-like and the almond provides a subtle warmth. The dry down is my favorite part - probably because I'm a huge sandalwood and vanilla fan.
It's sweet and flirty, so it's great to wear on a casual date (like going out for coffee.) I wouldn't wear it to the office, as it comes across as too girly (read: immature) in my opinion, and for this same reason I would choose something more mature for a fancy night out.
I adore Miss Simpson as a celebrity she shows that you don't have to be super skinny in order to be pretty :). Anyways her scent his a very nice allthough the vanillia sometimes gets abit over powering it's still an OK scent but nothing that I would by.
I really like this sweet, creamy , soft, candy smell. Though It drys down with a lot of amber on me. Smells alot like Amber Romance to me more than Britneys...
this perfume smells lovely...in small doses. It smells like liquid candy. My friend wears this fragrance and it clings to everything she touches. She must be putting too much. Personally i wouldnt buy a whole bottle.
It's got many facets. Vanilla and ambery sweet, but not intense. It's wearable, I'd compare to Betsey Johnson or the new Viva la Juicy. Each is different but in the same genre. They are pretty close scents. At first spritz it's edible and delicious with apricots, then it morphs into the feminine florals which are never heavy. The dry down is pure vanilla caramel with amber for depth. I have Betsey, but it's not as fresh as this and has more musk while Fancy has none. I find it very wearable and a good gourmand. After learning alot about fragrance...This type of scent is simply loved by men, most of them aren't craving a floral or oriental on women. It's the food scents that gets to them most of the time, and makes them come in closer.
I´ve got Fancy in a swap and I planned to give it to my youngest daughter (11 years old). Well, I did, but I´m kind of regret it, cause Fancy is incredible yummi! Sweet? Oh, yes but not in that thick syrup way. Vanilly? Yes, definitly a soft, tender and caressing vanilla. Cupcakes? That too, and they´re so good, must be some secret ingredient. Fudgy caramell? Oh yeah, whatever good there is, you find it in Fancy.
I find many celeb fragrances marketed toward a young audience boring, immature and overly sweet. Fancy manage to smell just enough and that´s kind of tricky whit that kind of notes! It´s youthful without being childish, sweet but still light and easy.
I guess I will steal some drops from my daughters sample now and then. Worth a try if you like cuddly gourmands.
It truly smells like a bakery...but it's not for me..
just bought last night at macy's and still trying to come to a conclusion whether i'm keeping it or not..im testing the sample and so far i have to say i am admiring the vanilla cupcake scent when my hair moves ;0)
this fragrance smells like a warm vanilla cupcake right out of the oven
its sooo creamy and heavenly i love it i bought it as soon as i smelled it
Fancy is really nothing special, it's kinda nice and girlish yet quite ordinary at the same time. Reminds me of many other perfumes that already have made it bigger and better, so why bother to buy a 'replica' when you can get the real stuff..??
Delightful bottle, but the juice is nothing special, it is so much like a million of the other perfumes.
If I was a 13 year old, I would probably die for a bottle like this.
I'm not a big Jessica Simpson fan, but I really like this scent. For me, the almonds and warmth come out after a few minutes, and really stay with you. And I LOVE almond. There's something warm and comforting about it.
Sometimes I put this on before I go to bed, and I can smell it all night long, and still in the morning. So it has nice lasting power on me.
Credit where credits due; FANCY is fun & it brings forth happy childhood memories. If you’ve ever tested her DESERT BEAUTY range, you’ll know how big of an improvement she’s made.
However, FANCY isn’t anywhere near original; the caramel and berries are very reminiscent to PINK SUGAR, especially when coupled with the foody base notes. The top notes are also too sweet, it borders on sickly on me. The light florals in the heart of the fragrance calm it down, so I could tolerate it.
I can't see myself re-buying FANCY; there are so many alternatives already on the market, that aren't borderline sickly on me.
coffee or toffee and marshmallows... hmm..it looks like this perfume is similat to Trussardi Inside...
This one reminds me of sitting in a garden drinking on a latte. I get a very soft smell of toasted almonds and creamy vanilla that reminds me of coffee or toffee and marshmallows. The flowers and fruit (mainly pear) are very subtle and sweet but mixes well creating a dreamy scent instead of being to sweet. The lasting power is pretty good and the bottle is adorable.
Update: This has to be tried on skin to get the full effect of this beautiful smell! Defin in my top 5 favorite perfumes if not my favorite gourmand. I don't care whos name is attached to the bottle. This perfume is almost perfect!
If you like sweet and yummy scents, like caramel or vanilla...you will love this one!!
I sampled this and I was shocked that I actually like it...smells so delicious!!
I am in love with Fancy! When I first got a sample back when it came out, I didn't really care either way about it... I even through my sample away! About a month ago I took a sniff at a fragrance counter and instantly fell in love. Fancy is a gourmand scent with top notes of apricot and pear. Fancy is sweet, but in a sophisticated way- the gardenia and jasmine really balance out the sweetness very nicely. The dry down is mainly caramel, almonds, and vanilla with some faint florals. I just purchased the gift set that comes with the 3.4 oz. perfume, 4 oz. of body lotion and shower gel, and a bonus 0.2 oz roll-on pen... all for $65. Fancy has quickly rose to the top of my list and I have been wearing it almost every day. Overall, I give Fancy an A. Good job Jessica~
I recieved a sample in the mail, and I love fruity florals.
I really like the Vanilla and the Jasmine. I must say that the Amber and Vanilla is what stands out the most in the end, and with my chemistry, I dont need alot. It rests on the pendulum of smelling like a cheap fragrance if not used with discretion, but used in just the right amounts, its a fun and flirty sweet fragrance perfect for winter!
I loved this at first. But the drydown started to smell strong and flat or cheap. I love Hanae Mori Butterfly its a much nicer version of what I thought this was. I put it back on the shelf before I got ready to check out.
I really liked this perfume, but what I don't like is her perfumes have no staying power. I think if you do the layering you may get better staying power. It is a nice vanilla though.
I instantly fell in love with this one. It's sweet at first, but the drydown is very warm. The people I work with know I'm a perfume addict and always take notice when I'm wearing a new scent. Everyone REALLY liked Fancy.
I love this fragrance!! I was in Macy's sampling different perfumes and this one stood out. At first I smelled pear and then as the fragance mixes with my body chemistry I smell mainly vanilla with a hint of jasmine. It is very nice
smelled it in a magazine sample. was almost nice, but something cheap and sanitized about it.
Smells like candy and cupcakes. I have a sample size vial I would love to trade.
Overpowering candy smell, not bad, just overpowering. Has amazing lasting power, if nothing else.
This smells like desert. The caramel and vanilla are the primary notes that pop out at me. Its very soft and feminine.
I got mostly the vanilla cream, caramel, and a few florals. It smells like a delicious creme brulee, however I wouldn't like to smell like this. It smells almost exactly like Creme Bouquet by STILA.
I was recently at Macys and I got a chance to sample Fancy. It smells good but it's basically a toned down version of Britney Spears' Fantasy. I adore Fantasy and this is like the kid sister of it! I like it but your better off getting Fantasy.
I was very surprised by this scent. It was never on my list of 'fragrances I want to try' but while at Macy's a somewhat insistant (and annoying) SA suggested I try it. I tried it to get her away from me. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the scent. I love it. I bought it and I have no regrets.
