Jil Sender presents a gorgeous trio of pastel editions, as olfactive variations of the original composition in cooperation with Coty Prestige. The three new perfumes were created by Bernard Ellena, perfumer in charge of the first, original edition, Jil Sender Style.
The three perfumes arrive in pale nuances of pink, green and yellow and they were named Blush Pink, Tender Green and Soft Yellow. Minimalist bottles with lacquered sides are romantic extensions of the original. Tender Green is a floral-green fragrance, which wraps your aura with green tea, bitter orange and Sambac jasmine. The perfumes will be available from September 2008, in the amount of 50ml.
I am a real sucker for sets, which explains how I managed to acquire the three Jill Sander Style Pastels edps, despite my veritable aversion for pastels. I also cannot, try though I may, break my Russian roulette perfume-buying habits. For inscrutable reasons, given the low probability of success in this enterprise, I do somehow love so much gambling on new perfumes purchased scent unsniffed, often without even consulting any reviews in advance. These quirky features about me have put me in the position of being qualified to write a review of TENDER GREEN, which it is indeed. But is it really tender, or is it rather watery, in the sense of dilute? Upon initial application I identified this as a floral green of the clean green laundry variety. Really very clean, and just slightly sweet in the drydown, TENDER GREEN belongs in the category of perfumes for which I reach habitually on my way out the door knowing that they could not possibly offend. These are scents which are intrinsically inoffensive, the downside of which is that they sometimes verge on the insipid.
Case in point: after running errands for a couple of hours, my ability even to perceive TENDER GREEN becomes sketchy, at best, and my guess is that this is not because I've developed a tolerance to the scent. No, it seems simply to have evaporated away. While it lasts, it smells nice: like some kind of organic green laundry product scented with very light and unidentifiable florality. Or, if you like, “abstract” florals (ahem...). In any case, TENDER GREEN really is totally clean while at the same time being green, a bit like rolling on a very sparse patch of seedlings of grass. Of course, you'd kill them all by doing so, which may explain the poor longevity. Next to the mean greens, this one seems something of a weeny to me. But I'll wear it this summer as the tropical weather descends, which it is bound to, eventually, though this week has turned into Wellies fashion week for me (another example of my set obsession—why, oh why, pray tell, do I own three beautiful pairs of Wellies which, yes, I purchased on the very same day? Oh well, they're coming in handy this week thanks to the rain, rain, and more rain. Green leaves abound, though, strewn about the ground and on the branches of the now fully rejuvenated trees, all beautifully illuminated under the silver gray blanket of clouds which might otherwise have induced yet another bout of seasonal affective disorder... But I digress...
Anyone who likes floral greens will find this one wearable, albeit somewhat weak. On the other hand, anyone who finds the mean and the über-greens to be too much, may well appreciate the “tenderness” of this composition. 5.19.11
Tender Green is indeed a lovely, fresh scent opening with a very prominent green tea note.
The jasmine sambac in this fragrance is a nice balance and not as heady as other jasmines... well featured in the drydown with some sweet bitterness from the orange to add interest to the note.
Very soft and pastel like and smoothly blended. I thought on opening this might be similar to Guerlain's Les Voyages Paris-Tokyo, but this is much more diffusive on the drydown, where Tokyo is airy and transparent with the addition of violet and cedar and somewhat stronger (which I prefer, however, it's less accessible). In any event, Jil Sander's is beautifully composed.
A beautiful summer scent - fantastically fresh and clean.
Based strongly around herbal tea notes the fragrance remains delicious from start to finish. The subtle lift of citrus provides aromatic sparkle while romantic jasmine delivers femininity.
TG retains freshness throughout the dry down and never develops the powdery warmth like so many others. In a terrific alternative TG opts for lingering soapiness.
the sweet bottle is delightful; cool to touch, heavy to hold. A juxtaposition of straight lines near organic curves, matte ceramic against glossy plastic all in a very pretty pale green.
The name TENDER GREEN is a superb match.
When they first came out, I found the green one the most classy one..it is still is compare to pink and the yellow..
It is just ok overall. It can be a little bitter,I think I like the light remainder of Jasmine in it.
This is an intensive summer scent, very green, with great lasting power.Grapefruit note makes it bitter-sweeet and the jasmine keeps it smooth.
However I miss the powderness of the classic Style, so this is a good summer chioce for those who like strong perfumes but don't like powderly scents
Absolute green flowery fragrance, which one may say thank you for his strength to the letter of the green tea. In this fragrance can be found the refreshment citrus, but not this capital range of his for the inundation. Nothing gives reasons for it, but I perceive it as powdered one with a cleanness fragrance after all. The denouement will be full when the sambac is a jasmine comes into the foreground, and quasi strokes the green one, bitter one, and flowery one. A lot he finds the time for him because he proves to be a long-lasting fragrance.
Luckily, I tested them yesterday and I'm impressed, especially by Tender Green. At first, it smells like Green Tea, fresh and spicy, and then the typical Jil Sander Style scent appears. It's hard to imagine because Green Tea and Style are so different, but they are balanced in this fragrance. The Tender Green Pastel is a bit different from the other two pastels because it's fresh whereas the pink and yellow ones are soft, powdery and sweet.
