Sun Jil Sander for women

Love this one.
sweet , warm and not overwhelming.
the scent stay's on me for several hours.
do get a lot of complimets when I were this scent.
and it's one of the few EDT that I can wear in the sun.

Very rarely do I experience a fragrance smelling like a deodorizer, but this one reminds me of the smell of a cheap, cakey odorizer. I don't know which notes are to blame since I am familar with each one and enjoy them in many other fragrances, but the numerous times I have worn my sample of Sun, I've been sorely disappointed.

Strangely this fragrance reminds me of the scent of some cosmetics or facial products. Just can't come to terms with this one being summery or sunny. I spent half my childhood at the beach but this doesn't take me on any journey back there. Certainly improves slowly on the skin, but a strange perfume, for me anyway.

A warm, sunny, complex, gourmond skin scent. Named approprately. Have the EDT and body oil in it and I am a lucky girl 'cause it seems that it's getting hard to find.

I have been wearing this fragrance since 1994! Everyday! I have tried others but have always ended up returning to this fragrance.
Lots of people ask me which perfume I'm wearing but no one has ever heard of it, which is part of it's attraction.
It is well priced for a large 75ml bottle. The cheapest I have bought it is around £16.00 from Tenerife (Sept 2011) but I have seen it on sale for a lot more.
I will not stop wearing this scent anytime soon.

I always not-liked this scent, its just TOO MUCH for me!
tooo sweet, smelled it on a sister of my best friend in the early nineties (she wore it much she sprayed it on in the bathroom) and i thankfully never smelled it again.. i can sniff this one out of many for sure..
not for me, by the way this girl who weared this is a good friend so its not anyting negative or emotional its just the plain sugary vannila deep impact scent of it i dislike.

Oh dear, Sun. Is there any German woman left, who hasn't owned you at one point or another of her life? Yeah, I know, I had you, too.

You have appeal and you are better than all that celebrity nonsense out there. You are made for young women, not for us middle-agers, I know. Have fun at the beach. Or at the cocktail bar. Young sun tanned bodies on holidays. Smell nice. That's what you are about.

But you see, all those middleaged ladies still turn on you, the first day in late winter - early spring, when the sun is feeling warm again after the long winter time. Then I can smell you everywhere: workplace, supermarket, street. And I don't like it. I can read the mind of the wearer in that moment and it is not creative to wear you, as you are called "Sun"! In your face uncreativity! Nobody wears you on christmas, just because of the name!

Go away, you are not for me anymore. I'm too old, too wrinkly, and too free minded for a perfume, that gives me the exact time, when to where, with it's name (wait... and what about the gracious Nuit de Noel...? ; ) )!

I think it's too strong to be worn under the sun..

Lovely, friendly, universal, placid everyday scent...

Had this one few years ago but still remember the smell....like hot (from the sun) skin covered in suntan oil.
Sounds pretty simply but this one is worth trying, when it works with body PH it will be delightful.

I have a sample, I've tested it today.

What can I say? It may be noticed easily that the perfume isn't "new", I mean, it's the style of 80's and early 90's. I can also notice this scent is recognisable as belonging to Jil Sander's fragrance family.

The beginning is the most out-of-date, like grandma's perfume - something like anise sore throat candies taken from a pharmacy shop, very sweet ones, you can sniff the pharmacy here. Also, the fragrance is warm, sharp and reminds of sun and sand indeed.

The note, hard to stand, lasts for about 45 minutes, and after 25-30 minutes from spraying maybe comes the note of glue, white glue used by kids in schools - not the best one either.

What's the most likeable comes in about 1 hour or so, it's a suntan oil, very very similar to real one. Then the scent goes prettier and prettier, more oriental. What comes after many hours is creamy and delicate, not out-of-date at all.

If you want to smell like that, you may like it. I see it's a good scent - in the beginning of 90's maybe even very good - but nowadays you can feel it's an oldie in first 1 hour. What comes next is nice, you may recall summer and that's OK with me. A thick killer, a bit powdery but it has something... it can be good in winter to recall summer ;) it's better in cold days, I suppose, because it's too heavy for summer.

Lots of benzoin, amber, I detect orris root...

Like it very much! It smells a bit like sunscreen. I hope to be getting this soon! To me its not really a summer scent but something you‘d wear on colder days to make you feel warm and comfortable.

i love this one,it is warm and close to skin,tonka ve some fruits blended smells like hair spray a lot of fumes,but not for sun.perfect for summer but not for seaside or beach,only summer in the city.longlasting and good sillage.

Way tooo weird and aggressively sweet for my style. It was a present that in the end I gave to my grandmother.
Though it has very good longevity.

Not my favorite. Too creamy, too weird I think. Not a scent I would wear anymore.

I haven't found any other perfume to rival Sun in the light-hearted, warm breezed and cloudless sky, all-is-well-with-the-world, positive-holiday-feeling stakes, even in the depths of winter. One spray of this and I defy you to feel miserable.

It's not a masterpiece of a perfume that takes itself seriously - it's a "I just can't help liking this perfume" in spite of that. It's a refreshing change - and far superior to the cheap summery body sprays I used to douse myself in before I discovered this playful little ray of sunshiny joy. It's a great friend to have.

i really like it. its so soft and creamy. absolutely gorgeous. it is a high quality perfume for little money. its a unique scent. i prefer it for less hot days.

A disgusting scent, artificial and rather irritating. I had a bottle of this many years ago but I woulnd't recommend it to anyone. If you want to go for a "sunny" summer fragrance, perhaps Dali's 'Sea and Sun in Cadaques' is a hundred times better than this.

Creamy vanilla, tan oil. How can a stale butter with plasticine smell good? You tell me! I also like the pop art bottle with the yellow spray dot.

when i first tried this perfume i sprayed it on a piece of paper and i did not like it. in my opinion it was too heavy and not very pleasent. several month later,when i was at my cousins house, i tried her sun on my skin and first my opinion did not change...but then, after minutes i smelled on my wrist and i loved it. the next day i went to the perfume store and bought the big bottle. now, i am using it very very often and still love it. it is a nice fragrance that lasts for hours. some kind of soft and creamy, not heavy as it was on the paper.

This is a nice summer scent. For me it smells like sunscream or something similar (skin in the sun). But in a positive way. It makes you think of sun , fun and holiday. Unfortunately it's a bit too common and overworn right now.

I agree with those who say this might be different if the packaging didn't say sun. It is packaged as if it is going to be a fresh summer perfume, it is in fact quite rich and decadent. It does remind me of summer holidays as it was bought at the airport and worn on holiday, but I have also worn it in winter and it works just as well. I do love it.

Another of my absolute favorites that Luca Turin doesn't like. Resulting in my reading Perfumes to specifically find the ones he doesn't like, (the two star orientals) thinking that I will probably like them!

This smells strangely fizzy to begin with, there's really nothing else like it(well, I've not found anything yet..) No idea how it's done. Completely unique. The fizzyness has something a little raspberryish about it. It's very thick and heavy like heat haze itself. Hot, fresh and absolutely does bring to mind a day at the beach. I am very impatient and don't like waiting until scent warms up and this is perfect for me. Immediate brilliance on contact and then just keeps on giving. Lasts and stays pretty much the same with just that odd fizzyness dying away.

I will not give my opinion if this is a great perfume or not, if it smells synthetic etc. that I am no expert and this is a peculiar aroma. To my very special and recognizable, intense solar!!!! I smell it and go directly to my memories of a summer in the Mediterraneo and makes me happy :D. It's like an antidote, dose of happiness, so I'm not very objective.
For me it is the embodiment of summer, the sun , the sea , and energy. You can not miss ever in my collection but i not use very often ,courtesy at work, only special moments , this perfume does not go unnoticed .

Wow, what a perfume. I like this one a lot. It's really strong, and has a great lasting power. It smells like summer, sun and nice things. I can imagen myself wearing this, even when it's hot. It's a unique fragrance!

Update: I LOVE THIS!! It makes me feel like a sexy beach babe but after a while it becomes so warm and hot. No perfume is similar !

I love Sun for years. It's indeed very distinctive, once you smell it, you never forget it. It's really warm and wraps you around, and its creamy sensuousness hugs you. Pure love. And it is strong. This may sound odd as it is supposed to be a summer fragrance but it's not stiffling, there's a powdery freshness (I know you're asking how could that be but really it's nothing I've come across before) that keeps it breezy enough. A little. :) Lastly, it's longevity is pretty good. And despite the name and the aim, I'd wear it in winter as well. It's strong enough for that.

A very distinctive, strong fragrance - not for the shy wearer! Sweet and warm scent, which can be a bit much on hot summer days (or perfect, depending on your disposition!)

This is the first time I tried Sun and I can not imagine wearing it in summer. On my skin it's a floral oriental, a bit fruity first (best part) and powdery-woodsy in the drydown. It really has a cozy suntan lotion feeling to it but I wonder wether I would feel the same if it hadn't the name: SUN. I rellay think this fume in a different bottle may behave quite different for a lot of people without tthat evident association with summer. Now i have it only on my wrists but plan to wear it for a few days before re-reviewing it:) A very imrpessive scent for so long.

I LOVE this perfume. It smells really distinctive and I love that! Of course it's also one of the rare perfumes you can wear while sunbathing without damaging your skin...

A twin sister to Rumba by Balenciaga. Nothing fruity, nothing sweet as notes may suggest, to me - quite heavy oriental floral fragrance. Complex and strictly for winter time. I cannot imagine wearing it at summer, even though the name may suggest otherwise :-)

On me this smells like Nivea body lotion. It does not smell of perfume at all - more like sunscreen. Maybe this is why they call it Sun!

Sun came out modestly from polite white bottle. At first, it did resemble to sun tanning lotion smell, as I expected from its name and reviews I’ve read. Soon, started to grow on my skin. Minute by minute. Taunting, shining, colossal ball immersed in fierce scent gloomed.

It was a sun. Central star in master lodge of long lasting perfumes. Generated million vanilla nuclear fusions in it core and created continuously expanding corona from sweet, warm flowers. Sun is bright oriental vanilla, not the fruity floral you may expect. This is 1980 s product. Powerful, direct, with personality.

I am putting my sunglasses on. Because of the temporary blindness provoked by shiny beam from polite white bottle. Take care!

I am a tonka bean junkie, and the basenotes are my favorite ones in SUN. Absolutely love it, love it, love it!!!

Yuck! This perfume smells like rotting orange peel. Tell the truth about him! Superlatives and so on what basis?

i love ´Sun´ totally and it´s of course one of my favorite scents with it´s warm attitude reminding me of the days on the beach with tanning oil :)

Upon first spritz I politely shoved my wrist under my hirsute man's nose & waited for his thoughts. "Urinal cakes." Well, sod him....I like this perfume & so I will wear my urinal cake with a sunshine grin.

In truth, I understand how his lavatorial link was made....the first 10 mins are a strange fake citrus-mix, underpinned by a faintly warm orange-blossom/vanilla. It is more than a little loo-like...although I feel it resembles a posh vanilla toilet air freshner at this stage, not some scummy public pissoire.

A wee while later (excuse the pun) & all that is a distant memory. My wrist smells delightful: heady, sensuous, creamy, warm & gloriously golden. I am not overwhelmed by any particular note - the effect here is of a lazy, hazy sweetness wrapped around a cozy vanilla base....some flowers, some fruits....but the sun has blurred their outline & renders them unrecognisable.

I mistakenly believed this would be a delicate fragrance but it has some substance & a sillage that graces the air around me as I move. Quite thick, quite heady.

Sweeter than I am normally comfortable with....but something keeps drawing me in to sniff closer....& then I smile. It really is a happy, uncomplicated scent. A nice ray of simple sunshine in this cold winter.

I like this fragrance, but I must say that everytime I wear it I feel much older :(
I think it's more suitable for older woman...

It was my first fragrance ever. I was 12 years old and loved it so much.

Now, I hate it. Every second woman wear it. It´s too overpowering especially for summer - it kills me.

Great smell like sun lotion, but on my skin doesn't last that long.

Oh my, it smels so heavenly! Soft but strong, sweet in a creamy way, it is simply amazing! It envelopes you in a cuddly aroma. But it is so hard to find here! Why, oh why!

i love this perfume and the reason that i do is because it smells very much like a sun lotion. nevertheless, it a has a good staying power. it's perfect for summer days.

Sun Sun Sun.This one was my signature for a long time i had three bottles of it.I'm so surprised, to see that it's floral fruity,because it don't smell much fruity notes.Jil Sander Sun is a unique fragrance and it have the typical Jil sander look.It's very hard to discribe the smell.
It's creamy and fresh,powdery and floral,and only a bit fruity the bottle and the name fits perfect to this scent it's definitive a summer fragrance but i also worn it on the colder day's.Sun is also a very clean and soft fragrance,i loved it but smelled it to often many womans wear this one,and i don't want to buy a fourth bottle, but this is a great fragrance,i had good moments with wearing this.

Warm and Cozy, perfect for snuggly up w/someone special. Woody on my skin, Tonka bean rolled in Chi Spice Topped with heavenly cream and vanilla cinnamon srpikle dust on top...

I'm reviewing the sun fragrance mist, which is very similar but you have to give this a chance. It does leave a weird film on my skin which I don't like but after spraying it takes it about 10 minutes to develop into the heavenly scent. It actually reminds me alot of Revlon Ciara... never thought that before but again this is not the edt its alcohol free fragrance mist. I like it..

A great scent! A summmer's classic! And yes it smells 100% of summer in a bottle. No one can create a better summer scent in my view. Particularly suitable for blond types.

Great lasting power and a pleasant smell. I just dont think it's really summery?

I love this fragrance! It starts out kind of citrussy but then it dries out to this warm sweetish flowery scent with a touch of vanilla. Great for summer but I also wear it in winter.
Staying power is good, one application lasts me all day.

Great great great scent! Today's summer scents are watered down, they are too much fruity or have too much marine notes.. This is not like that, hard to describe but you still feel like you are in lovely summer night.. or at the beach.. Everybody who smell it on me said that I smell like I layered myself with sun lotion, which is not bad.. I feel happy when I have this on.. Perfect staying power.

A true summer fragrance :-)! I used to wear this during holidays when I was much younger. I think it has quite sweet, fresh yet warm notes in it. I received compliments wearing it, all the time! Would not wear it anymore though, find it a bit too heavy to my nose nowadays........
