Dark Amber and Ginger Lily by Jo Malone is an oriental woody fragrance for women, a cologne for women presented in 2008. It includes aromas of black cardamom, ginger and pink pepper in the top notes; the middle notes are jasmine, orchid, water lily and rose; while the base notes encompass leather, sandalwood, kyara incense, patchouli, black amber. The fragrance is available as 30 and 100 ml eau de cologne.
The perfume was presented in a pair with Lotus Blossom and Water Lily, in honour of ancient Japanese ceremony Kohdo, as its modern interpretation. It belongs to the Kohdo Wood Collection. The perfumer is Jo Malone. Dark Amber and Ginger Lily is a new fragrance and it was introduced in 2008.

This reminds me a little bit of DK Black Cashmere. Dark Amber & Ginger Lily has more of the green and amber notes and less of the flower notes than BC. It could be a good men’s fragrance but is not bold enough (I think). Once the pink pepper and ginger (quite vivid in the first top notes!) have subsided, the fragrance brings out its feminine side. The orchid, water lily are the most noticeable and with the patchouli it takes on an essence of green notes rather than flowery. The rose & jasmine are barely detectible to me... almost transparent. The base of rich amber is bold and a luxurious combination with the leather & incense. So much happening in one eau de cologne but I agree with Mariotgomez that it can be an excellent every day fragrance and could easily be worn to the office if applied with discretion. I find this to be a fall/winter fragrance and for most any occasion except for romance, it has too bold an edge to it.

This is a nice light fragrance. It has a soft woody note to it, with a slight sweet undertone. I would consider this fragrance for everday office wear for both men and women.
