Nutmeg & Ginger by Jo Malone is a Woody Spicy fragrance for women and men. Nutmeg & Ginger was launched in 1990. The nose behind this fragrance is Jo Malone. The fragrance features nutmeg, ginger, sandalwood and cedar.
For men, I think this is the perfect fragrance for layering if you want to "masculinize" (for lack of a better word) a unisex or feminine fragrance that you are not as comfortable with wearing.
It smells okay by itself, predominantly ginger (it kind of reminds me of the crystalized ginger candy), but I think it's a better idea to layer with another fragrance. Hey, that's what Jo Malone fragrances are for--layering!
I purchased this along with the new Jo Malone fragrance, Wild Bluebell (a fragrance for women). Nutmeg and Ginger takes the feminine Wild Bluebell fragrance and masculinizes it, making it comfortable for me to pull off wearing it. Quite interesting!
I can't wait to layer this with other unisex/female fragrances I own!
I love this fragrance. It's fresh and spicy aroma is very uplifting. Would love to see a longer lasting version of it.
one of my fav summer scents spicey and fresh
It has a sharp spiciness that I find invigorating, but, unfortunately, it makes my husband's eyes water.
imo it's not really a perfume in the perfume sense - but it's more like therapy. if layered with "normal" perfume it's astonishing. but for me it fits to wear it as such itself. it's the perfect fit of nutmeg and ginger. the wood makes its appearance quite down the road, but the drydown with sandalwood and ginger/nutmeg combo is my personal delight for being home and cuddling, although it isn't the usual one for this(it's not powdery, sugar-sweet...) but it's uplifting without smelling like tea nor ayurveda-fragrance...
wouldn't wear it for a night out though. but just for myself enjoying 2 of my favourite notes.
What a pleasant surprise! I was expecting a gourmand, pumpkin-pie type of scent, but Nutmeg and Ginger is not really food-y at all.
It retains the sharp, slightly sour notes of fresh-sliced ginger (think of the kind you get with sushi), and the nutmeg is much more woody than sweet. The fragrance is not really sweet, actually. It's an unusual mix of soapy and earthy, if that makes any sense. It is definitely unisex, and as others have mentioned, it's a good scent for folks with sensitive noses, or if you have to share space with others.
I regret that it didn't last longer on my skin. Perfumes with a lot of natural ingredients often have that effect on me. Might benefit from some layering with other products in the same scent or a complementary single-note scent like sandalwood.
Yum! Love this one. It's a scent that captures what spicy ginger and warm nutmeg would smell like if they collided into each other. Comforting, fresh, long-lasting. One of my favorites from this line along w/ Vintage Gardenia and Vetiver. Very easy to wear if you are sensitive to smells, it has an aromatherapy feel to it.
