Jo Malone announced a new collection of limited fragrances named London Blooms, coming out in March 2012. London Blooms collection was inspired by the art of botanical gardening and beautiful English lawns. The collection presents three fragrances signed by Christine Nagel: Peony & Moss, White Lilac & Rhubarb and Iris & Lady Moore. Their floral compositions are created with the aim to provoke feelings of happiness, romance and good mood.
Peony & Moss is a scent of strong contrast of delicate flowers and wet and earthy moss. The composition includes notes of black currant, ivy, green accords, peony and moss.
Bottles and packaging of the collection are decorated with floral illustration of vintage vibe. The fragrances are available as colognes in bottles of 100 ml.
To my chemistry, this one is all kinds of wrong! Top notes are sweet rosey floral but then BAM- dirty, crepey dusty powder/paper note attaches itself to my skin and stays all the way to the dry down. What is that note?! Like wrinkly dusty, talc-y, dry paper and antique floral sachets from your grandmother's drawers. Almost a total scrubber on me.
I'm very dissapointed. Hubby got it overnighted for me and i was like a kid on Christmas! When I smelled the nozzle it smelled as described... And then as soon as it touched my skin and clothes it quickly deteriorated into a dusty, powdery, dry musty rose scent. Of course I'm going to test it again before I return it, and I will finish my review of a love affair gone wrong..
I cant wait to buy this. I tested again today, it smells more rosy to me than anything else, but i absolutely love that. The sillage is intense. I sprayed it once at least 6 hours ago and not only is it still there, its still projecting. Nothing but good things to say about this!
Nordstroms had a tester today. I'm not crazy about florals but I do like peony. This didn't seem like a bouquet of flowers because the moss gave it an round, earthy softness. It seemed like a perfect English scent--fresh soft, not harsh or aldehydic floral. Easily my fave of the three.
Can't wait to get a sample.
Update: I got a sample...I now know what I like so much about this. The moss reminds me of opening a bag of potting soil or fresh peat moss. For, me this is a smell that signals spring and the start of the gardening season. I spend late Feb and March just waiting for this. I doubt this will ever be considered a masterpiece, but it is very easy to wear. There is also a very subtle touch of sweetness that softens all the corners.
With Japanese kimonos, women wear symbols that evoke the season they are just about to enter. I will wear this in anticipation of Spring. Lovely.
