This is such a comfort scent for me, it reminds me of my family. Its quite strong so I rarely wear it, but I love it. Very woody and balmy, definately a night time fragrance.

I received this yesterday and tested it. So, the first blast is strong but only for 15 minutes and thes it settels down to a wonderfull scent.I don't detect any particular note, i feel that it is very well blended and it lasts very much ( on my skin 12 hours), but after the first hour i have to stick my nose into my skin to feel it, so the sillage in my opinion is very low....i don't know why, it may be the weather, my skin or my nose to blaim or maybe the perfume itself may be spolied. I think i will sell this not because i don't like but because it doesn't have the sillage i expected to have. It is to discreet for me. La perla or Casmir are louder...

Edit: I must say that i'm in love with this perfume, and now, after wearing this for more than 1 month i can tell that when i wrote the review i must've had something with my nose, because even the weather is the same, the perfume has changed on me, i can feel it all the time and it's not discreet anymore. Could this be because i dont eat sweets anymore?

I believe you guys, I do! The date above must be wrong. Found all the reviews confusing me! I guess the staff are too busy to fix every little detail. Anyway, I purchased a miniature to try as a substitute for Ungaro de Ungaro but it hasn't appealed to me so far. I'll try again next autumn/winter as the poll suggests that is the best time to wear.

I recently purchased a 3.4 ml bottle of this for a very reasonable price online. I love this fragrance, how it morphs on me after 1/2 hour or so into a sweet, powerful complex floriental that lasts all day. Unique. I used to wear this one in the early nineties. At the time I was living and working in the old-world western suburbs of Boston. For me is represents that place and period of time in my life. Joop! Femme has the vibe of old world decadence. If it were a city it would be Berlin. As a woman, she would be dark, timeless but on trend and exquisitely glamorous; not the kind of tacky Hollyood celebutante glamour of today. More like before mass media grabbed hold of people's sensibilities. Prehaps the early 20th century. Beneath it she's tough, an individual who doesn't care what you think. Because it is capable of capturing the imagination, it doesn't appeal to the sensibilities of the moment. Just too complicated for the tastes. It shows up in the reviews for this fragrance. It's too powerful!!! It makes sense when you look around and see what's marketed, and what's expected from today's consumer. Nothing's a stand out. Wimpy fruity-florals that are easy to like. Cookie-cutter trends that cash in with what the media projects as "cool" is what sells. God I just hope they don't wimpify this great!!

Just for the record, I wore it January through April of 1993. I remember exactly the time period because it defined a brief, yet torrid romance.
Joop! held such an association for me of my lost love, that I had to stop wearing it immediately when we split.
What a wonderfully distinct fragrance! Perhaps I will try it again...The perfume, that is...

to lapurrla:
perfumeintelligence.co.uk give 1987. I definitely remember it to be there before 1998. It was the first perfume by Joop!, his Homme is from 1989, Berlin from 1991, to give a timeline. It's a mistake by fragantica, which has often been spoken about.

This is unapologetic sexy: Dark, spicy, vanilla. But also comforting. No fruit.

It's a grandmother of Hypnotic, but even better, because more complex. If women today can wear Hypnotic or Addict, they surely can pull off wearing Joop! Femme. It doesn't smell more 80s than those two.

This is a must-have on every perfumistas cupboard, really, I'm not kidding! At least for those of us, who love orientals (I do!!!).

The packaging is a problem today, as people seem to expect a black or near black packaging for a dark scent like this, not blue and white and yellow and Kate Moss with an early 90s haircut. I hope, that the company (Coty) doesn't care and keep on producing (or doesn't notice, that they are still producing it?), so hopefully it won't be pulled or reformulated. As long as they ignorate it, it's safe, that's my conclusion.

BUT: The recent formulation doesn't smell IFRA compliant, so we all should be aware, that a reformulation, or even a discontinuation is due to come some day.

Eureka! I found another scent that stays on my skin for a long time. Yes,yes, yes. It's a little citrusy in the beginning (about 10 min) but after that it's just wonderful. Soft with a little dark side. And yes I dare to wear it. It's perfect for me. I'm so happy I took the chance and bought it. A new fav. Must buy one more bottle right away.

This is a big 80's floral oriental along the lines of Ungaro's Diva and Scherrer 2. Wear only if you dare! I happen to love this sort of fragrance, it's complex, confident and very well blended. You have to like your civet BTW, so if Bal a Versailles doesn't scare or repel, give this a try.

I wore this scent when I was a teenager and have recently re-discovered it in a store.
It has not changed from what I remember (many scents have been noticeably re-formulated in a bad way). This perfume is by no means comparable to either Poison nor to LouLou.
Poison is fruity with a heavy tuberose note and LouLou is heavy on jasmine and incense.
Joop!Femme is ambery, only slightly sweet but has some sillage, admitted.
I think whoever liked Poison and/or LouLou back in the days might also enjoy this scent or has certain memories connected to it.
JF is almost forgotten nowadays. When I bought my bottle in the store I had to grab in a corner far away from the "hip" perfumes. My bottle package even had dust on it. A shame but I will cherish my bottle.

Why one would compare this perfume to Poison or LouLou is a mystery to me. Maybe that's because I've grown up in an environment surrounded by all three of them (Germany in the late 80s and early 90s). Poison and LouLou share a strong tuberose, but they interpret this flower totally different, whereas

Joop! femme doesn't have tuberose at all. That's that and I don't want to go into details, why neither of those three can be said are similiar to each other...

I want to declare, that I adore this perfume. It is warm and spicy and deep, has a vanilla, which is comparable to the best of all (Spiritueuse Double Vanille), not too much flowers and a nice non-hippie-patchouli note. Yes, it is heavy and that is good! If you look for aquatic, you won't find it here, no melon, no sea note. Only a little outdated (but some may find this attractive) perfume for real women.

The only downside is, that in Germany it is still so beloved, that you can constantly sniff women on the street wearing it. I can live with that.

I wore this in the early 1990s and have long since forgotten about it. Just as I rediscovered Coco and Obsession towards the late noughties, I think it might be time to give this one another try. I do remember it being very strong initially (just as Coco and Obsession are) but the drydown notes are right up my street.

It starts off overpowering and distracting, and not in a good way. I could not smell the top fruity notes at all, bergamot yes. After 3 hours a lovely musky vanilla and sandalwood... But I'm not willing to stink before the dry down...

My relationship with, and response to this perfume is very.....strange.

I initially tried it in our summer, and was shocked by the loud, overpowering first blast. But....was enchanted by the later stages and the dry down. Waft after waft of sweet, vanillaed, delicately floral fumes anchored by robust, patchouli, civet and cedar. Sweet, but grounded. Enchanting indeed. So, despite that first, shocking almost medicinal first phase, I decided to buy it.

Today, in the first days of our winter, with the day quite gray and the weather cold, I decided to try it for a Friday night blast. AMAZING!! No ugly shock, no cacophony of medicinal fumes. Just really, really lush, shining sweetness that developed almost note by note to that amazing, final last stage.

Thumbs up for this one. Amazing sillage, amazing longevity.

Years ago this was my favourite perfume and I could actually pull it off (it is one of the few fragrances I finished a bottle of and repurchased).
It is indeed very strong but so unique and warm at the same time, which is what drew me in. It was perfect.
Surprisingly now, this is probably one of the most complimented fragrances for me - even by those who had already asked me what I was wearing only the day before! The sandalwood in this really agreed with me and I think it gave it a very sensual quality. I remember a guy I'd met in a club telling me I smelt good (ah the good old days!)
Remembering how much I loved it back then, I have tried to reconnect with it now but sadly I cannot wear it anymore. I can still appreciate it's beauty but our time together will remain as a memory.

I have tried so hard to love this fragrance but whenever I wear it, I wish I hadn't. It's one of those that seem to suit nothing about me or my lifestyle. It comes across as brash and forward and demanding attention. Like sitting next to someone on a long bus ride, who has few social graces but you believe that they mean well and have some good points. And yet ... I don't have the heart to move away. I keep trying to find the good. It has all the notes I love but..(sigh)
I think I shall take advice from my fellow reviewers and spray sparingly away from my arms and face and let it rise gently.

New review:
I'm glad I kept it. Caught a whiff of it on someone in a store yesterday and was mesmerised. Gave it another go this morning - gently and sparingly -under my clothing. I've been entranced by it all day. I think we'll stay together this time.

I love Joop! Femme for days when I'm feeling slightly but not overtly aggressive, wearing Pucci-style prints and lots of Scandinavian silver jewellry. It is not a shy and retiring perfume, but nor is it overwhelming - it's my "I'm here but removed from you" scent. It's a very feminine, covertly assertive scent, I think.

i actually cant believe im here because i do indeed love a floral fruity perfume with notes like peach pear black and red currant strawberry blueberry all those sweet things... lol its just what i like. No spicy oriental woody fragrances in my collection. i also ignored this simple flacon which is rather masculine i thought the homme version would have suited better and vice versa but i suppose thats the homme one trying to stand out by being bright pink... (made me notice) i ignored it until today it was free standing in the shop ( if it was locked up i would not have ever asked to smell it! ) and i really enjoyed it. It is rather smokey and very strong but a really nice quality for quantity long lasting fragrance. I would not wear it everyday ( i work in an office a fellow collegue complains because i wear too strong perfumes this would kill him ) but a good budget buy, something there to be different or when i fell like being a little bolder

Wow. I'm so glad that I bought a bottle unsniffed, all because of all the good words here.
This melts down to a warm and cuddly soft scent with a woody/smooky sweetnes that are stuning... but it takes quite a while.
Absolutly worth the wait and the heavy start that I nearly did't stand. But...

This one are really sexy and classy at the same time... genus... indeed!

The release date of 1998 did strike me as slightly odd but now i know it was actually launched in 1987, it makes much more sense.

As other reviewers have said, its big, its bold and its brash, definately not a scent for the shy wallflower type who likes their fragrance to blend in with their surroundings.
This is a fragrance for a lady who commands immediate attention the minute she walks in the room, wearing an ensemble that most would consider a little to risque, with killer high heels and smouldering smoky eyes. She leaves behind a scent trail of intrigue, never to be forgotten.

This does go on rather heavy and strong, with an immediate burst of soapy, clean aldehydes and a good helping of spicy coriander.

The middle notes take a while to present themselves, but i strongly detect jasmine and lily of the valley which help soften the aldehydic blow, once the drydown has commenced.

I get a very intense civet note in this perfume right from the start which contributes to its brash femme fatale demeanour, and it is this exact animalic note that makes it comparable to Theo Fennells "scent". To my nose these 2 fragrances are very similar (i also detect a slight hint of "dune" in here too!

Overall this scent takes a fair amount of courage to pull-off, but one thing is for certain...the wearer is guaranteed to be in the spotlight and her perfume be the centre of conversation, that will remain in peoples scented memories.

Strangely, at first sniff I considered this fragrance more masculine than Joop! Homme (which BTW, is one of my absolute favs). IMO, it is much more ambery, musky, powerful and really animalic kind of perfume. No sweetness for me. After a harsh opening, the scent reveals its beauty with aldehydes making it somewhat powdery and sophisticated until it transforms to a more creamy, balmy, soft, cozy and very sexy composition. I absolutely do not detect any flowers except maybe a little bit of jasmine, but only after a few hours in the drydown phase when the notes of vanilla complete this powerful EDT. The lasting power is really good, although shorter than for Homme version. I need to reapply the fragrance after 6 hours, which is fine with me. I can recommend it for colder time, romantic and intimate situations, and for days when you really want to feel cozy and comfy, secure and strong.

I generally do not like oriental fragrances, but the Joop Femme is an exception. The opening is very cheerful, and the dry down is exceptionally nice.
An other Lancaster masterpiece!
Very addictable.
Here is a tip:

step to if you like it invest into one BIG bottle

This is an amazing floral incense type fragrance with huge sillage and extraordinary lasting power. 8 hours at least from a single spray. The opening is very in your face citrus - must be the bergamot - but the middle has a very floral heart with that gorgeous 'incense' wafting around and the drydown is a lovely creamy, woody vanilla. This is so much better than the price tag would suggest. Love it!

Sign underneath all that Pavel said about it is one of the best developments and setting that I could know when it comes to commercial perfumes, I found him more masculine than their partner Joop! Homme, probably for the touch of civet animalic the background accompanied by patchouly guarantee this absurd setting and dry down dry, your body is mild and dry floral jasmine notes is more pronounced that I know, has a touch incensed that accompanies it during evolution throughout, perfect for cold days and nights, but have to have light finger unless it runs the risk of stifling self lol.

Difficult to use it on a hot days here in Brazil.
To do this, I have broken homeopathic doses of Joop! Femme mixed with a vanilla's body splash.
For those who want to try, make this in a vial apart:
- 40 sprayed of Vanilla Lace-VS;
- 5 sprayed of Joop! Femme.
Only dilutes Joop! in a weaker scent of vanilla... or amber/ musk.

The result is something similar to Amber Romance, but by far, with better staying power.

*I make it with Joop! Homme, and the result was good too!

Forget all other ingrediences, it just hits you (and everybody else in a radius of 999m) with an oily lilly-of-the-valley, amber and musk boxing glove. I used to love it! WHEW the first blast is Strong! Way too strong for me, and bear in mind I own big stinkers like Poison, Paris, and Amarige.
Femme is more of a pro boxer's punch than a lady-like slap, but whatever it is, the first explosion of fruitty civet knocked me to the floor and shattered a few windowpanes. And this was just a small dab from a sample vial.

If you have the confidence to pull off that olfactory nuclear bomb, the heart and base are much more rewarding. It's soft coriander-lily-musky-tonka in a sweet sexy creamy meltdown. Delicious!

The first hour is way too much for me, but I LOVE everything after that. So I would recommend spraying this one long before you actually go out of your house to meet the rest of mankind.

One of the best Oriental on the market.. nothing can compare to Joop! Femme, i can´t believe this fragance is from 80's, okey Femme is a bit strong ,like the other fragrances of that decade, but doesn't smell like oldlady, is so well done.

Joop Femme is intense, sensual, a Femme Fatale fragance which reminds me of Givenchy Organza. Just from the first notes to the last you will love this scent. The powerlasting is incredible, this doesn't seem an Eau de toillet.

If you want to win a guy, this fragrance will make it possible..

Behind this boring, uneventful looking bottle lies a fragrance so captivating and beautiful that you'll wonder how Joop! managed to advertise this fragrance so poorly.

This is a floral based scent, and a rich one at that. Creamy and somewhat mysterious, Joop! Femme is everything a scent should be.

Strong in the opening, the aldehydes and coriander create a powdery and slightly spicy scent which is complimented by the subtle citrus and fruity notes.

The heart of this fragrance gives way to luxury. My nose was met with delightful musky and powdery florals, the jasmine being most dominant. I do believe that white floral lovers will enjoy this fragrance whole heartedly.

There is a strange yet likable smokiness which lingers throughout this fragrance's composition. I really enjoy this aspect however I'm not certain as to what note brings it about.

The base notes are beautiful. The tonka bean, patchouli, vanilla, cedar and civet make a very pleasant and intriguing olfactory experience.

You don't need to spray much of this to make it last. The lasting strength is worthy of my praise. I do recommend.

I've seen this one hanging around for years and ignored it because of its un-assuming flacon. And judging by the deep blue box I always thought it was for men.
But it's fragrance really is something to admire. A true 'ninetees' scent that is not only memorable, but also rich and refined and original. I always wonder why they dont make modern fragrances like this nowadays.

Not my favourite, wouldn't buy it, but I give Joop!Femme my greatest, utmost respect. And I apologise for ignoring it for so long. It deserves recognition.

I love Joop Femme. To me it smells like a slightly fruity musk and I never feel overpowered by it's scent.
It is the one perfume that I always go back to after the novelty of some of my newer perfumes wears off. Joop is like your favorite pair of jeans. They may end up in the bottom of the drawer for awhile but they always make a comeback.
I like collecting perfumes. I own several that I haven't got around to posting on my profile yet. Sometimes I forget about Joop for awhile but I always come back to it. I always feel confident and comfortable wearing Joop-just like my jeans. When I travel Joop will always be in my bag. Out of all I have in my collection this is the one that goes to Vegas and to Florida. It is just that versatile.

I'ts amazing how perfume evovles isn't it? I mean...as soon as you spray this perfume you can tell it's an older sort of..refined perfume. They don't make these sorts of scents anymore. The aldehydes are prominant for sure..
I've always thought of Joop! Femme to have a sort of..Indian exxotic feel to it. (That will be the coriander) A girl at my school used to wear it and it reminds me of that time. What I mean is..it smells sort of like very posh incense or..an exotic soap wrapped in cloth. It's definitely got some kick to it. I think in the summer this perfume would be headache inducing, but lovely if it was subtley rising off of the skin through your clothes in winter.

It's an elegant but powerful scent that is not going to be for everyone's taste but, I'm a fan and think it's gorgeous.
In fact? I'm wearing it at the time of writing this.

The first half an hour? Neaah, nothing special about the '80s fruity crowdy spicy composition. But then it started to get smooth, warm, attractive, with a nice mix of orange blossom and tonka bean; I could also feel some vanilla and musk.
The whole thing is like a tamed down version of 60% Gaultier2 + 40% D&G (red cap). Even if I'm not a fan of these two, I think I'm growing fond of the powdery tonka beans in Joop! Femme...

You all convinced me to buy this one. There are nothing but good reviews here. Well, so far, I'm not too impressed. It goes on very strong -- sort of that old fashiony smell. It also seems like it has frankincense in the ingredients. Something in the spicy notes is very strong and overpowering. I think it's the same thing that's in Chanel that I don't like. I guess I should have known. I don't usually like the same thing most people do. I'm hoping this will smell better in a few hours. Maybe I sprayed on too much. I'm pretty disappointed; I'd been waiting for my shipment from Amazon all week. Not what I expected at all.

This perfume is probably the most overlooked scent out there. It has been around for decades, yet is my all time favorite. In my opinion, no other perfume can top it, at any price. I have been wearing it for years, and get soooo many compliments. Sure, I have gone astray and tried the latest "in" fragrances, even the pricey ones. But I always come back to the original Joop! I think part of it's success, is that it is not overmarketed. I have never seen many ads for any of the fragrances put out by Joop. The men's scent of this is unbelievable as well, and I feel that both men's and the women's are somewhat unisex. Even more of a plus, is that this hidden gem can be picked up for oh so cheap now. I found a 3.4 ounce spray bottle on line for 27 bucks. I gladly went ahead and ordered NINE bottles. I hope that Joop never disappears from the market.

Joop!Femme might have a retro opening but this is a fragrance of many moods and if you have the courage to let it develop and play on your skin, you will be surprised to discover its oriental beauty. I find it somehow similar to another favourite of mine, Lou Lou by Cacharel - the same sweet neroli and jasmine heart and creamy, ambery drydown. A 'hot brunette' perfume :) Highly recommended to all passionate fans of woody oriental frags!

i havent met recently a perfume which make me say -WOW!!!This one did.I didnt excpect to like it so much...at first when i sprayed it it smelled heavy and lil retro ,but after that OMG ,the dry down is unbelievable sexy and not at all retro.I am very picky about perfumes but this one is a keeper for me.The homme version and the feminine version have some kind of smell like bitter almond ,which makes me crazy about it.I dont know which note is this but from now on i will always have a bottle of this one:)I am soooo happy!

I met this perfume by accident. I didn't really wanted to smell it but you know guys how these things are going... how can a perfume lover like me (or anyone of us) pass over a perfume bottle without giving a tiny sniff? Absolutely impossible to miss the chance. So it was there on a shelf, in a devastated store. So I stopped and thought that must be a sign from heaven to smell it. Thank goodnes I did it.
Joop! Femme first of all slaped me in the face. Not in a good way. I found it very heavy, loud and overpowering and all I could smell were flowers.
I patiently kept on sniffing it on my wrist and as time passed by and the fragrance settled down I fell in love with it. Lovely, grown up, classic and has many sides: heavy and soft at the same time, sometimes turns into woody-musky. The drydown is beautiful and incredibly longlasting.
Conclusion: never miss a chance to smell an unknown perfume even if it's on dusty shelf in a grocery. You never know, you may find a gemstone.

Joop Femme! Wow! What a fragrance! It was launched in 1987 and I was just a little kid back then, but I still remeber how wonderful it smelled. I bought a bottle of it last year and I still love it. Joop opens with a very strong aroma. It's nearly overpowering. You have to have a strong nose to handle it. When it finally settles and melts into your skin, you're gifted with the sweetest reward. This is when the middle notes really come alive. The jasmine and rose are floral sweetness, and it just gets better as it dries down. Did I mention that it lasts for hours and hours? There's nothing not to like about Joop Femme! It's all things Beautiful, Feminine, Pretty, Precious, Classic and Lovely. It's a never ending dream. It's a warm drink in the middle of winter. It's a picnic under the evening stars. My aunt used to wear this fragrance and although she's gone now, I can't help but think of her when I'm wearing it. Joop is classic, modern, romantic and special. It's beautiful enought to be worn during any season but better suited for the autumn and winter. I'd recommend it to anyone.

Femme is a magic, conceitual and adventurous frag. Open with strength aldehidic top notes. Reminds me a little of White Diamonds at the top, but not much. Mutant as a virtuose, similar to Joop! Homme, however, without the powdery base. A similar drydown in both Joop!… with vanilla, cinnamon, honey and musk. But Femme goes beyond with animalic civet and jasmine…
A huge sillage will be your partner for all day, with a long long lasting… Femme will stick on your skin and never leave it. Mix like a natural smell... luv luv!

It's my first love! It's dizzyling in a good way. Sexy,spicy,floral,honey-vanilly, very emotional. However I thing it's a classique; it's a little bit demode!!!

I have fallen in love. This is very well done for the fact that it lasts and lasts and well I could go on forever. This will have amazing sillage. I just rec'd this from my boyfriend for V-day, with spring on it's way I can't wait to wear this all spring and summer long. Joop! has so much class and attitude. I really am falling in love w/ this...

After the zesty, spicy, dizzying topnotes, it mellows down to a honeyed-nut-like sweetness.

The fruity and floral notes are subtle and nicely balanced, and at this point, it's almost a gourmand fragrance on me. But then it gets more interesting, as it dries down to a musky, woodsy bittersweet scent.

It could be too strong if you applied it to your wrist and then kept sniffing it; but should you spray it on your belly button, body temperature will make it rise and smell warm, sexy and snuggly.

I can see why some people would find this a scrubber. It starts with some strange business that reminded me of a car deodorisor. Then it reaches its ambery dry down- not as bright and lovely as authentic arab-style rub-on amber, but a pretty good approximation. The next time I was sampling in a store I went straight for it based on those good memories. I wouldn't give it away if someone gave it to me and I would buy it if I couldn't get the real thing

This perfume STINKS!! I'd read such good reviews about it over the internet that I took a chance and ordered a bottle without smelling it first. Big mistake! When I sprayed it on I was assaulted by it's potency and strong, acrid smell. I was hoping maybe it would evolve into a more subtle, nicer smell but sadly it didn't and I couldn't wait to wash it off! Even then I still could barely get rid of the smell. I tried to offload it onto my sister but she hated it too and refused to have it! I'd have to say this is one of the yuckiest perfumes I've ever smelled and I think it's VILE!

This is the least subtle perfume I have ever met, and I love it. For wearing around the house I do 3 sprays. If I go out, I leave it at 1-2. Compared to my use of Baby Phat Gold Godess, which i use about 20.
I've known about it for years, but have only got it and tried it in the last 2 weeks.
This one must be in the top 20 best sellers.

I love it!
It's dark, heavy, mysterious, and sleazy. You'd wear it for bed, not work.
I've had it since the tender age of 15 and refuse to let go.

Joop! Femme is a very mysterious fragrance. It seems to develop & have many moods. It's quite woody & musky, yet has a soft floral side as well.

If you like Revlon Unforgettable, you will like Joop! Femme which seems to be the "grown up" version.

At first Joop! Femme is quite strong - a loud fragrance - however it eventually settles down into a lovely creamy/musky floral which lasts the whole day on my skin.

Highly recommended!

Joop! Femme will always be in my collection.
