Yummy! You may find my opinion weird but I think this smells like a heated, outdoor luxury Hotel garden pool in Dubai at night:) Very nice, exotic and inviting. Not a copy of recenet fresh frags! Its truly has its style and personality.

How exactly is it so many people know what cassowary fruit smells like? I live in Australia and had never even heard of such a thing, and cassowary is one of our native birds.

The only fruity note I get is artificial watermelon scent for the first half an hour or so, and then settles down into a nice fresh aquatic which lasts for a reasonable amount of time on skin, but lasts a really long time on clothes

A pleasant fragrance, but don't leave the house for awhile after applying unless you want to smell like a chupa-chup

Got this today on the cheap. First 5 mins, nothing special, but then..
All there is...is watermelon, bubblegum, watermelon, bubblegum, and more watermelon! Such a clean fragrance, although very linear and a little synthetic. I'd give myself 3 sprays of this once out of a hot shower, or when i'm roaming about the house, or maybe, just maybe on a hot summer's day, but be warned..wearing this on a hot day will definately get too cloying and sickening.
Longevity on my skin, i easily get 5-7 hours, projection is moderate, something you'd expect from a fragrance of this caliber.
A fairly good job by Joop.
Recommend this to the younger crowd, college students maybe.

It starts off smelling like crap. Then later the dry down and the base notes are okish. It might have been the tester that is old or something. I will not be getting it any time soon.

A laid back, cool, breezy, subtle, watery scent which relaxes and chills the wearer,.. but may not appeal to lovers of Niche frags..

I applied 6 heavy sprays

0 - 2 mins- Nothing much

2 mins - 4 hours - Good 1.5 foot projection. This scent is laid back and anything that puts a smile on my face and relaxes me in this helter skelter world is worth at least half a thumbs up.. In my expereince, you need to spray a minimum of 6 heavy sprays to have this scent fully appear; anything less would see it too close to the skin, anthing more would be massively cloying and sickening - I think you definitely need to get the balance of how much you apply right with this scent. Soapiness comes in after 1 hours and gets more and more intense. It is synthetic. Without doubt this is a stepped out of the hot shower scent.. Golden Showers? Or should I say Blue Showers? Sexy to some no doubt..Ages 16-32

4 hours - 5 hours - 3 inches projection, still projecting. Linear scent. Incredibly soapy now.

5 - 9 hours- Close to the skin, little to no projection, however intense smell on the skin, sexy, watery and soapy..

Good

Simple yet very nice scent.
Much more interesting than other aqua & citrus fragrances for men.
Almost no dihydromyrcenol in the formula, which is great. Plus : a sligthly sweet note in the base.
Funny bottle also.

Ok first off, I know i am a girl and the reason why i am reviewing this perfume is because it is awesome just awesome !
A friend of mine bought it and at first i was like(but i did NOT smell it then): yea sure another perfume that screams out i am so damn manly like The Brave by Diesel. But he told me: smell it first you are going to be surprised trust me! i was like ok sure not expecting much of it, i took the sniff and HOLLY MOLLY i was freakin blown away by it. It felt like i was on an beautiful lost island with a hot guy. Thumbs Up!

This perfume just messes with my fantasy and I LOVE IT this is honestly the best man freagrance ive ever smelt!

GUYS THIS HOW I WANT YOU TO SMELL LIKE ! ;)

I had submitted my first impression back in March when I smelled Splash in a perfumery. Yesterday, I was given a sample vial and with it the chance to smell the scent with more time and leisure and no other scents interfering.

And I have to say that I do like it much more than I had first thought. I didn't dislike it back in march, but after giving it another try, I can now better appreciate its qualities.

It starts fruity, then develops into spicy, aquatic and moderately sweet woody notes while staying very mildly fresh. Maybe it isn't the most sophisticated scent ever created (whatever that might be), but it's a quite delicious casual scent for the younger guys nonetheless.

I can't yet comment on longevity, but one hour after application, I don't expect it to excel there - which would be in line with what others said.

This is easy to describe. It starts with the very peppery and green fresh smell that is almost identical to CK Free. When it develops, it smells like a whopping of the rose/tobacco/patchouli augmented Tommy Hilfiger Loud, just like it! If you've tried these two fragrances you won't see much difference.

Cassowary fruit ? Yeah Wolfgang, whatever.
Smells cheap. Generic citric note, after an hour it was gone on my skin.
Several Axe products smell more sophisticated.

I really don't understand why this is disliked... I sprayed this one for 7 hours ago in an airport and I can still smell it on my arm... the smell is very pleasant, a blend between sweet and fresh.

Scent: 9/10
Sillage:8/10
Longevity: 10/10
UPDATE: it lasted 6 days on my pulse, and i took a shower every day. just WOW.

I'm a bit surprised by all the negative reviews to be honest, they're a bit too harsh in my opinion. It's not like I would quickly recommend it, but Splash is also not a scent I would advise against.

Splash is definitely not your typical fresh/aquatic scent. There's no lemon, bergamot, lime, vetiver or for instance ginger.

Instead there's a combination of pretty sweet fruity topnotes (is it the cassowary?), smelling a bit like a mixture of watermelon, a tiny pinch of lime and a little sugar syrup (I must admit most fragrances show their sweet side on me though ;) ). I even detect kind of a very light English tea extract too, probably the coriander.

Then soon the cedar and cardamon join in, turning the scent spicier and woodier, while remaining it's sweetness. Although the aroma's itself are pretty strong and dominant, projection is pretty mild and close to the skin.

I must also admit longevity is pretty poor (4-5 hours), which is not what I'm used to from Joop.

Altogether Splash is a pleasant scent, that lacks real personality and staying power. Definitely not Joop's best, but still a safe choice for a Father's day gift for instance, especially with that original, good looking bottle. I don't think I'll be replacing my 115 ml with a next on though...

Just sprayed the tester on me today (a freebie from a previous fragrance purchase) and I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised. Not one that I would rush out to buy straight away, but one which were I to be traveling to a very hot country (not my own rainy UK) I could quite happily use as a summer anytime EDT. Not amazing, longevity is somewhat limited, but pleasant and 'clean' smelling in a pleasant kinda way. Not as bad as some of the reviews previously made out, in my humble opinion, but not a trail blazer either.

Ever sit back and wonder why there has never been any "water" offerings from joop!? I'll tell you exactly why. They've taken the time to do it CORRECTLY. This fragrance doesn't try to emulate the smell of a "splash", who would?
This fragrance embodies excitement and surprise! I wonder if any of you have even smelled it.

This scent starts off with a rude SMASH of fruit and labdanum. Sticky sweet, slick and juicy. The fruit almost has a...Purple vibe to it, so passionate and precise.
As it begins to dry you may start to wonder where the wood is.
The answer is, the wood begins to perfectly mingle with that ultra sharp pungent fruit, mellowing it, and offering some sort of control.
The woods really keep this fragrance from bitch slapping everyone who comes within 10 feet of you XD.
The cardamom and coriander offer a direct anchor to the shore of sanity, giving the composition nuttiness and spice.

I don't get any "Calone" or "Aqua" from this fragrance in the least. I am SURE of Joop!'s direction with this was to be exciting and refreshing, like a splash ;)
Again, i'm VERY skeptical if any of you have smelled it...But to each his own.

I approve %100

"Splash" is a splash of dullness. It starts really fruity but soon... VERY SOON... fades to another wood aquatic base seen and smelled many times before. There's absolutely nothing remarkable about it. Weak sillage and staying power.

It should be noted that the bottle is very interesting, but I suppose people don't collect bottles but perfumes here. It's a shame to see a brand with strange and lovely perfumes like "Homme" and "What About Adam" releasing such a boring and uninspired fragrance.

It's ANOTHER one of these aqua things. This one's actually not too bad... as long as you don't mind it disappearing without a trace in about 20 minutes flat.

I have only sprayed it on my hand once and left it there till it was practically gone. What I got was something like watermelon. Not really fresh or clean, more fruity and pretty sweet. I'm no expert, but I'm not sure if I would describe it as woody. Didn't last very long. It probably appeals most to the younger crowd. A nice touch is the bottle that really looks like water.

Someone should really think seriously to stop that madness about splashes, sports, marines, aquas, oceanic, ozones and so on... Please, there is no reason afterall, "torturing" an already malfunctioning genre, there isn't anything new to be said anymore...

Dozza may be right, but this shouldn't concern us. This one could've marked a return to form for Joop!, but there's nothing remarkable about it, apart from the fact that it's very loud. In fact it screams: "I'm here, smell me, I'm fresh and new!"

And fresh and new it may be, but alas, in no way charming.

Apparently there will be brother colognes to this one out soon, called splosh and spish! Then there will be a limited edition set for Christmas of splish, splash and splosh.

I have tried this though and it was a puchy explosion to begin and mellowed to a really nice day smell, better than Go and Thrill, not sure about the silage though!
watch out for those limited editions!

Perhaps Mr. Joop shouldn't have sold his label. After those recent letdowns, expectations are low now. This shouldn't have happened to this label that once stood for modern, German style in the best sense.

Always remember: never sell your name.

@Endymion: Yes, Joop seems to bring out new scents on a monthly basis now. Not all of them are bad actually: "Wolfgang Joop" and "Freigeist" may have been letdowns, and those summer editions are rather unnecessary, but "Thrill" is a star.

So, it's true that Joop makes mistakes these days, but don't give up your hope.
