Just tried this from a friends bag. Smells like an old barber shop aftershave/talc.
sweet, musky, cheap. Just nice to be used in a barber shop, nowhere else. I personlly would never like this, would never use this even if given for free.

Este es un perfume clasico, con un olor bastante fuerte. El aroma es muy persistente que dura hasta 24 horas. Jovan musk podria resultar chocante para algunas narices, asi que hay que usarlo con moderacion. Tiende a ser una fragancia nocturna. Una joya para aquellos que les fascinen los perfumes fuertes y perdurables.

This I used when I was 13 years old in 1979. All I remember was using it as a potential chick magnet (LOL, such a horrible word) and that I thought it smelled bloody amazing!

Never seen it since, and not looking out for it either.

I swear this is what the theatre smelt like when I saw Xanadu! Gosh those were good days... and you couldn't miss the sparkling metallic stripes of the Jovan displays- coulda woulda shoulda stocked up back then when I had the chance... but I found a vintage bottle- well-kept- and I treasure it as much as my more-expensive compositions. Goes well with camel-toned leather and a simple gold chain.

P.S. Please add jasmine to the notes. I don't know if they use synthetic nowadays, but the vintage uses natural.

Had a male co-worker who must have poured it on--you could smell him walking down the hall before you saw him! I used to wear the women's version years ago.

Back in my heyday of girly hellraising, this was pure raunchy sex-in-a-bottle. Had a hot boyfriend who wore it and now every time I smell it, I think of him....

And blush a little.

Cheap and Skanky.

Fairly linear. Smells about as skanky as when I put 2 spritzes on 11 hours ago and it's still going strong.

Plan on using the stairs a lot - avoid elevator conversations like:

"Have you tried taking an oatmeal bath? My cousin did that when he got sprayed by a skunk and that seemed to work ok."

It's dirty, stinky, and SWEATY.

AND I LOVE IT.

It's smells healthy. Period!

Definitely the best i've ever used so far!!

I generally don't like musk fragrances because they smell too clean and boring, like laundry detergent. Jovan's Musk For Men is one of the few I like, and I like it because the musk is nice and strong.

It starts off very harshly soapy and floral, and borderline obnoxious. Give it some time, though, and the soapiness, spiciness and musk come together nicely in the heart and drydown. Even though the musk is synthetic, it's got just enough of a dirty animalic edge to give it some balls, and that's what drives this scent.

Ignore the cheapo price with this, and give it a try. This is a classic, people. And for good reason.

Nice scent for 10-12 hours

Love this on my man. Very sexy and inexpensive too. buy 2 or three for the cost of one other cologne. Guys should wear this all the time

This is a great fragrance and I know people will say its dated and cheap but I just bought a bottle of this for $10.00 and it is without a doubt one of the most pleasent and sensual fragrances I have ever smelled.Its mellow,sweet and really does have a very sensual and sexy dry down.I think only fragrance snobs who think a cologne or perfume has to cost $80.00 or more to be good would say anything negative about Jovan Musk.It is absolutely a top notch cologne and I will be buying it from now on instead of some of the more over priced and inferior colognes out there.Jovan Musk is great.

It sure brings memories, I remember it being a favorite back in the 1970s. It smells bold, strong and, due to its popularity and simplicity, cheap. Now, the initial strength mellows down to a nice close to the skin floral scent. Where is the musk? As such, it is supposed to smell animalic, which can be true in the top notes, but the mid and base notes, while not that complex, morph into distinctive accords that feel way more flowery than spicy - maybe the reason why it was my Sister's favorite scent.

It has a flaw in its very limited longevity. If in search for a quality-wise, long lasting musk on the vein of Jovan's, try Kiehl's. And if in search of a masculine, gentlemanly, discreet and marvelous musk, choose Ex Houbigant's / present-day Dana's Monsieur Musk, which, up this point, is the best of the three I tried or wore.

For who grown up with this perfume and shared his memories, it's too hard to see today this one is not a fan pleaser.
I remember when perfumes were perfume, the sky was cleaner, grasses was greener, their smell was harsher, ice-creams had more vanilla and streets were not crowded for who rides his bike while sprayed Jovan Musk for his girl.
It's a yummy musky floral odor which for that time was light! All of the ingredients are well balanced and in accurate measure; woods, spices, musk and flowers.
But this is the purest musk perfume ever.

longevity: the pattern is oily and covers on your skin so you can guarantee that it stay for long. 9/10
projection: depends to weather, in hot weather it disturbs and as a sweet floral scent appears. In cold weather a light musk and woody tone performs. 10/10

Jovan Musk was the very first cologne I purchased as a young man in college. It triggered my 30-year self indulgenge of mens' fragrances. Looking back, I find it interesting that I'm still drawn toward the "woodsier" scents. After dozens of "hit or miss" fragrances over the years, Gucci II and Salvatore Ferragamo are my top favorites-- at least for now.

I like this for myself....it's very earthy.

This cologne was designed in 1973. It still rocks. I know its old, but there are many people who have good memories with it, so get a new bottle and reftesh your memory. If it's been a while that you have been out of this amazing cologne, it's about time to do it. You're gonna love it again.
As far as the scent It is mature. If you like Bijan, which I don't like, you are gonna love this. It is sticky a little bit, and honestly not recommended for those who have no memory tied with it. I bought it cuz I liked the scent, but I don't think it would be a good choice for folks under 30.

After all those years you are still amazing, you were my first exciting and overexcited love, and I still love to use your powers to cheer me up, to throw me few decades back to London of 80-ties, and to delight my interpretative olfactory cortex with its joyous ability to elicit optimism of an upbeat mood. Jovan rocks.

this is one my favorite cologne sprays that my boyfriend uses. very clean and spicy. a very lovely powder soft musk.

Oh man! I used to wear this when I was a kid. I remember one of uncles gave me a little bottle of it and I used to love the smell. Too bad my baby sister ended up pouring it over my TV. That TV smelled like JOVAN MUSK for a VERY long time lol.

Classic musk fragrance for men; initially a bit synthetic and chemical but after an hour or so turns into a pleasant long lasting companion for the rest of your day...thumbs up

This is the ultimate fragrance for picking up. No joke. I have no idea what it is about it or whether it's a placebo, but I must have picked up at least 15 women while wearing this cheap and nasty fragrance.

Maybe it reminds them of their dads.

You can't get better value for money than this. It's unique. It's bad. It's masculine. It's the ultimate pickup perfume.

A good aftershave to use when youre wearing a leather, musk, woods based cologne. NOTHING MORE.

Call it dated, call it cheap, call it drugstore standard, whatever...Just do not call it a bad fragrance. This is musk in all its glory. When people ask to define a musk scent I point them to this formula.
This is so simple and well done. I still wear this to this day, and I can get as many sniffs and compliments as I can with JPG or others.

I simply love Jovan Musk for men. It smells a bit like Coty Musk for men mixed with English Leather and a bit if citrus. It goes on strong and gets softer within maybe 30 mins to an hour. It really smells good all day. The price is nice too. It's also not too overpowering that people dislike it. It is the perfect balance of everything I like in a good cologne.

I love the clean, almost soapy opening. A little too heavy for me now (this scent could survive smoking, booze, and a night of sweaty dancing), but I remember when this stuff was more commonly worn. I have a soft spot in my heart for it, although I never owned a bottle until AFTER the 1970s (brings back old memories). Very Disco Stu, but I like it! :)

Simple, sexy, warm with a powerful opening (what initially turned me off of this one) that dries down to a slightly sweet musky (duh) skinscent.

I tried this again after purchasing Black Musk thinking maybe my tastes have changed...and though I like BM a great deal, I can't quite bring myself to buy this one.

I doubt the "formula" has changed much (if at all) since it was first released and maybe that is what I cannot reconcile about MFM-the 70ish-ness of it...

My initial reaction to the first spray was ALDEHYDES but they are not listed, as it dries it has a spicy aura and woods are there but the musk is definitely dominant and it's My 'musk' I want to cover/enhance, so why would I just add some other musk?...

A musky well done, but a bit linear. This EDT is a very nice for those who like musk, highly recommended for low overall cost.

always always a favorite to me. I love it on any man! I don't know what it is or why, same with the one for women, they're perfect...forever. It's just so clean and preppy smelling. I think Ryan O'Neil wore this in Love Story, he HAD to.

A beautiful soapy/spearmint start then dries down to a nice musk - its cheap but very nice indeed. It's a bit retro but it's still a great fresh men's fragrance today. Jovan Musk, Yardley (Citrus & Wood) and Tabac are the best lower priced man's scents on the market. Well worth considering - Love it !! By the way..Pie Rat has it BANG ON (above)

seems like what many fragrances attempt to emulate, but only in the "DRYDOWN" portion of their performance...

no longevity, but not one that's a stinkbomb over time if you apply even three times in an eight hour day.

this is exactly the kind of fragrance i enjoy. it's actually TOO SIMPLE to be labelled "LINEAR" because there are no phases.

I was at high school and always short in money! But this low price cologne made my days of youth.

It smells so warm and kind, sexy and sensual, sweet but not that much, short lasting but lovely. Especially good for dating!
In my experience, girls love to smell it on their boyfriend’s body!!!

دوام و پخش بوی متوسطی داره و این روزها چندین ورژن از اون توی بازاره و تشخیص اصل و غیر اصل بودن اون تنها از روی دوام و مزه اون بعد از دو سه ساعت امکانپذیره.
من هنوز هم بعد از سالها نمی تونم ازش دور باشم
اما در کل اون رو واسه سن و سال بالای سی پیشنهاد نمی کنم

I think one has to have just the right skin - and very clean skin - to pull this off. Jovan is not horrendous, but it's nothing to write home about either. An okay casual cologne for temperate days (60 - 70 degrees F) with very moderate application. I have worn this and gotten a very fresh, clean feeling from it, but by the same token there are some days when the musk itself sabotages any intention of smelling good and just seems like too much. This is typical of cheap musk colognes, and Jovan Musk is no exception.

This is truly an example of real dated fragrance... it is an average fragrance but has an oily affect thats hard to stand..
