As said in ads, in this collection 'Rock meets romance'. The collection is inspired by modernized version of Shakespeare. The creator of Miss Charming and Lady Vengeance is Romano Ricci of A&R Parfums, the great grandson of legendary couture designer Nina Ricci. For this enterprise he engaged a renowned perfumer Francis Kurkdjian.
Miss Charming brings notes of Moroccan rose, strawberry and litchi. The bottle was designed by Sylvie de France. It comes in sizes 50ml (1.7 fl.oz.) and 100ml (3.4 fl.oz.). The fragrance was created in 2006.
After daydreaming for too long about testing the JHAG fragrances, I finally got the chance of it!
The first one I tested was Miss Charming, and I must say that it's a perfume that lives up to its name:
It starts with a sweet, fruity rose that feels plastic for a moment - only for a moment- and then it softens delightfully to a beautiful bouquet of confectionery roses -in the manner of rosewater but stronger-, red berries and something soft that might be or not musk, lasting for hours like a charm (no pun intended).
If Miss Charming was a person, she could be that new coworker or that stranger you casually meet who's all bubbly, smiley and greets you with a "Hello! I'm Miss Charming!" which can result annoying at the start - the plastic feeling - but that feeling doesn't last for long and before you realize it, she has already wrapped around you with her loveliness, drawing a smile upon your face and taking your hand warmly.
Miss Charming might not be the most sofisticated or the most exuberant of the Juliettes, but certainly is the one that'd take you to the bright side.
Rose, lychee and ginger is what Miss Charming smells like on my skin. It's a soft, warm scent and smells a little antiseptic, like a soap or a gel cleanser. This fragrance is a pretty one, but just doesn't stand out to me.
A light fruity-rose perfume with more rose than fruit, MISS CHARMING reminds me a bit of Annick Goutal QUEL AMOUR (which in addition to being fruitier also offers a big dose of rose geranium to back up the rose) and a bit less of Ineke BRIAR ROSE (which has a deep, wine-like fruitiness). The fruits in this composition, in contrast, are very low key.
According to the card accompanying my sample of MISS CHARMING, the primary notes are "rose marocaine, muscs, fruits des bois". As far as I know, lychee is not a "fruit des bois", and I also do not smell detectable strawberry here (as listed in the bn notes). Basically the fruits in this composition serve only to moderate the rose, adding a touch of sweetness and creating a perfume obviously geared toward a younger clientele.
MISS CHARMING does bloom quite a bit, producing a lovely bouquet of roses by the drydown, making this much more of a floral than a fruity perfume to my nose. I like MISS CHARMING, but not enough to acquire a bottle for myself, though it might make a good gift for someone else...
Miss Charming is very definitely charming. She charmed me into buying a full bottle of her loveliness as soon as I sampled her for the very first time.
This fragrance is a perfect showcase for sweet, delicate rose.
The litchi is a very strong accompaniment to the rose in the opening, while the strawberry takes over where the litchi left off in the drydown.
The drydown is a perfectly balanced floral fruity, with the rose and strawberry both in play, but it's very much on the sweet side.
Miss Charming is Lady Vengeance's sweet little sister. No patchouli in here but the rose notes are very similar in both. Whereas LV is more grown up, MC is very much in touch with her inner adolescent.
A fun girly, feminine scent with great lasting power and good sillage.
I love it.
Sweet charming fruity rose. Fresh, sweet, pink and young. Not that original but very likeable. A sweet delight for roses fans.
Although this phenomenon insists to be only feminine, can't stop sniffing it because of the neatest rose quality presentation.
It's a chic and floral perfume, gourmand and delicious, young and teeny, proper for ladies who wear perfume not only for smelling good, but for being strictly gorgeous!
I got a dry, velvety sharp floral gourmand tone which leads an oriental modern spirit in the back.
Almost sickeningly sweet. I'm giving my sample away to the next teenage girl I bump into, becasue the overly sweet fruits make it way too young for me.
For me it's a bit similar at Chloe ,the same fresh rose+lichi ,adorabile perfume! Thank you,Dolby for your sample ot this perfume,i like it very much!
Very charming indeed!
This cheeky little miss brings us fresh picked roses (thorns removed!) dipped in sugar with a plate of litchi on the side! My inner Lolita was delighted!
However, those that are looking for a complex rose scent I'm afraid they'll end up feeling disappointed.
Miss Charming stays pretty linear and isn't very unique (maybe the little cousin of Stella?) but nevertheless, I like having her around ;)
Sillage: 4/10
Stayingpower: 7/10
Miss Charming presents herself as a lighthearted, cute and witty babe: uncomplicated and adorable until the point one just might feel a bit happier just being around her. She's charming too, yes.
This fragrance starts, and ends, with a prominent rose vivified by hints of green notes and sweetened by a delightful fruity base: exactly the scent of rose petals just taken away from the flower which you're rubbing with your fingers, lightly smoothed and warmed by juicy scarlet fruits and with kind of an edible vibe to it.
Pure, bright and refreshing like drops of scented water on your skin: this is the very first impression I've had from a perfume whose blend, actually, I find very similar to a most popular brand's rose water.. just a bit toned up in sweetness (and more lasting, of course!). Sillage here it's quite modest and subtle, the scent keeps delicate and rose-y on my skin through the hours.
Miss Charming definitely smells like roses, in the prettiest (and less retro) way one could imagine: hunters of realistic and non-average rose 'fumes, this one could really be for you, expecially if you're looking for a daytime fragrance that won't annoy anyone around you and will provide your persona with an innocent and youthful aura.
(Fresh dewy petals are around you on a May morning while you are having your breakfast in the garden.. your lips are now on a glass of red fruits juice and crumbs of a strawberry plumcake are left on the table. You still don't know how your day's going to be or what you will do, you just feel relaxed and flirty).
There are a couple of notes which are listed by the perfumer but have not been posted to this page yet: musk and berries.
I get the forest fruits right away in this, swiftly followed by the moroccan rose. I can smell a little strawberry, but I'm mostly getting 'purple' fruit smells, grape and blueberry, blackberry, raspberry too.
The rose stays steady until the drydown, where the musk really comes into its own. Its not a dry musk, but humid like a rainforest shower. The berries blend into the musk nicely, creating a deep, moody and playful atmosphere. Still has that 'rainforest' feel, now a cheeky monkey pops out of a tree and steals some of the rose.
The berries come forward again, this time leaving musk and rose to blend into the background. The 'mood' of the fragrance is lighter, like the end of a heavy rainstorm when you can start to smell the trees. I think I've found my berry rose fragrance :)
This is a citrusy, green-aldehydic rose at first, with some tart, fruity notes in the mix, a strong, sharp, fruity-floral, definitely not a soft rose or a light, sweet fruit candy scent. It reminds me of extra-sour fruit candies in a variety of flavors with a hint of shampoo.
There’s considerable sillage, especially when outside in the cold air. It seems to be more or less linear, maintaining the rose-scented sour fruit throughout its evolution. For a commercial fruity scent it’s not bad, but it’s not something I would want to wear often.
whole lot of roses in this one! very sweet too. I find it too rosy at the beginning; as the scent settles it gets better. again, bottle is very cute:)
It's smells like strawberries under a layer of dust. I find it comparable with those cheap fruity perfumes from Yves Rocher.
It's a soft and delicate rose. Nice but I prefer Lady Vengeance which is still rose but darker.
So far this is the only JhaG scent that I like. It's probably because it's a good rose scent :)
Although this has too much rose for me to consider buying a bottle, I do appreciate it as a beautiful fragrance. This is a fantastic range, I love the whole concept. This doesn't disappear like the Calamity J, but doesn't overpower me either, like Citizen Queen. If I feel like taking time to smell the roses I'll get this sample out quick smart. If you love roses do try. I think Lady Vengeance is the one for me.
Miss Charming is all sweet and tasty rose petal jam with a touch of sour berries and a bit of exotic litchi to confer it more flavor and juiciness. It's a very pleasant, soft, feminine, rosy fragrance that exudes optimism, youthfulness and just the right amount of playful sexiness. This perfume would be very appealing to most rose lovers as it's basically a fresh, realistic, gourmand rose. It wears very nicely in spring and summer and it makes an uplifting everyday companion.
Not as nice or complex as Lady Vengeance, this is a sunny rose fragrance which is a little too pungent for my tastes. It reminds me of Jo Malone's Red Roses.
Beautiful smell of roses, creamy, rosy soap like. It opens with a smell of fresh cut roses at the beginning and then it is getting more creamy and soapy. It's nice, but somehow I'm not absolutely amazed, I just liked it.
Sweet and fruity, the lychee is pleasingly prominent in this perfume. It's the only fragrance I would take into consideration as a substitution for Fresh's limited edition Memoirs of a Geisha perfume. I was wondering what on earth I would do when I ran out of that stuff! Miss Charming has a strong rose note and smells so familiar, almost like a rose bath soap with strawberry and lychee nuances. If you love roses, you ought to give this one a shot.
Smells very strong of Roses. I expected kind of a spin on roses, like a rebel rose sort of thing. But honestly I just smell sweet delicate roses. This is not a bad thing.. to be honest I never really enjoyed other perfumes I have that smell too much like Roses, for example - Jeanne Lanvin, so I was pleasantly surprised that I really do like this one a lot. If you don't like the smell of roses don't get this one. If you do you will definetely really like this Miss Charming
I have re-visited my sample of Miss Charming at least five times.... There is something about the overall composition that I absolutely love, yet the very powerful "first blast" of the ROSE affects my throat, I find it almost unpleasantly sharp.
BUT.....The dry down however is just stunning!... sweet and uplifting. I am really hoping to tame my sensitivity to this beauty so I can purchase a full bottle :)
Get your sunglasses out before you apply. If not~there's a good chance you'll be blinded by her sunlight this close up!
I find Miss C to be the happiest fragrance on the block. Complicated? No. She's too much of an extrovert to hold much mystery~but I love her just the same. More maybe.
There is no lie in her. She is what she is quite irresistably. She's a just opened, firm, bright pink rose playing w/a bunch of luscious, juicy fruit on a playground somewhere. She has pigtails and energy to spare and everybody loves her.
You don't need an ID in this place. There is no age requirement. Everyone in this atmosphere is cheerful and in the mood for compliments and fun. Honestly~the only thing serious here ARE the compliments.
Welcome to the realm of Miss Charming........smiles required.
One word: 'SWEETIES!'.
The type of sweeties that are termed 'boiled' and that come in big glass jars and are weighed out by the shopkeeper and poured into a little paper bag.
Miss charming is like a rose plucked from a long stay in a sweetie jar. I don't really get 'fruity' from this thankfully, just sweet.
A quality perfume and easy and fun to wear. (Oh no, I think I'm turning modern!).
Fresh, dewy roses that have an early-morning, ozonic clarity and brightness that makes me imagine aldehydes more than fruits are responsible. (Read as "must love aldehydes".) These are not red roses with their velvety, sultry & dark sexiness. These are light pink, friendly roses that evoke energy, even optimism.
Honestly, I cannot parse out either lychee or wild strawberry but I imagine it's their combination that imparts to the rose notes a moistness that's so juicy I'd almost call it thirst-quenching. A watery rose in the best possible connotation. (I'd call it aquatic but there's none of the seaside salt that my nose recognizes in aquatics.)
Zero sillage after the first 30 minutes. At 3 hours it becomes a skin scent requiring nose-to-skin contact to detect.
This is NOT Agent Provacateur (which is a dead-on twin of Coriandre to my nose). This is YSL's Paris without the violets but with all of the same sense of spring showers. Could also be Nimala minus the burnt sugar note found in Angel.
Miss Charming is different from others from JHAG. It's charming, lovely, girly, and nothing strong, heavy or "dangerous". It's one of those perfumes that make you receive a lot of compliments.
This is a high quality fresh floral fruity. I don't get alcohol when I spray it and the fruits are real and don't smell like plastic or a cheap perfume. Miss Charming is quite linear, and the fragrance doesn't change.
The strawberry as a note is quite risky because it often makes the fragrance smelling childish or cheap, but in Miss Charming it doesn't happen. The strawberry here is warm, sugary and delicious.
If you don't have an opportunity to test Miss Charming, just imagine Stella from Stella McCartney plus a high quality strawberry. A fresh rose, with just a little bit of soapy and powdery feeling; it still innofensive.
The lasting power and sillage is OK, enough for and EDP. But honestly, I was expecting for a little bit more.
If you love rose and/or floral fruity and want to start trying some niches (like me), Miss Charming is a good choice, and it's not so risky buying it blindly in my opinion. JHAG is a good brand to begginers in the niche world, I think.
sometimes i m really impressed about those missleaded noses who are reviewing here ?
Agent Provocateur doesn 't smell not even a bit like miss charming. by looking to the notes this is obviousely not the case... zzzz
this one smells quite identical to ghost, but mutch stronger and longlasting, more seductive and daring sexy. quite alot notes they have in common.
Agent Provocateur smells not sweet, has dirty musk in it and some smoky smell and all about powdery nauseatic flowers, this one it's fresh, sweet and bright with a warm base and only a slight powdery but creamy and soapy accord. nothing to compare.
i love this one, Agent Provocateur i hate.
If you own Agent Provocateur then you don't need this. Miss Charming is indeed charming but exactly the same as AP. A sweet musky rose, it is a lovely scent for day time or evening wear. AP is done well so there's no need to spend the extra money on this execution of notes.
Starts off very fruity to my nose, I would say it has peony in its notes but it doesnt. then I can smell the rose and lytchee. It reminds me very of Parissiene from YSL. the same fruityness. Nice for daytime wear or warmer weather
Miss Charming is quite an amazing perfume: despite the somewhat deceptive name, it's not a watered-down rose/lychee scent, oh no! The scent seems exactly as in the listed notes, but I find it intense, very long-lasting but not offensive or cloying. It's well-balanced, both romantic and modern flagrance, in my opinion. I might be somewhat impartial to this perfume, because I like lychee and roses, but I am not a big fan of strawberries in general. But here strawberries are blended very well in the composition. Also, the packaging is cute, like all the JHG)) It would make a perfect gift for somebody.
Sweet and lovely. Like a toned/watered down version of Tumulte, without the spicey edge. It's toned down too much though! The staying-power is terrible, it only lasts 2 hours or so; and even then it stays superclose to my skin. Also, it kind of seems to lack character... Even while I noticed I'm starting to like floral-fruities more and more. I still like this Miss, but I don't need her as a friend :)
A sweet rosey rose. The rose is definitely the dominant note, and the fruits are well blended in...almost too well. They make the composition sweet, but not at all sugary.
It feels innocent on the surface with an underlying potential for naughtiness.
I like this one.
Charming.
Miss Charming is nice, but not charming.
It starts really fresh, and with a burst of lychee sweetness, which is nice and girly. Somehow reminds me of clean rose water.
Soon it gets sweeter and more like a luxary rose-scented soap plus some light melancholy vibe of Anna Sui by Anna Sui.
The dry down is sweeter in a powdery/soapy way.
Overall, Miss Charming is nice, lady-like and inoffensive. I would imagine that a 18 centery woman's dresser might smell like thise. It's easy to wear but won't leave much 'Charming' impression behind.
this smells - however - EXACTLY like Ghost from Ghost... but mutch more longlasting and more intense in every way! love it!
comparing the notes my nose did not fail for another once.
Charming, warm and classy. It's good to wear when you want to show sweetness and opulence mixed together.
i have this perfume and i also have the Lady Vengeance and both of them are just fantastic and the new one the limited addition is not good as well. i am actually sad to say hat it is kind of bad.
This Juliette does things that are neither gentle nor kind. Her Charm is demanding and annoyingly challenging. Having this lady around me created a tiresome clash. I detect an essence of scented distilled Gin? Naughty spirits, long lasting enough to attempt havoc time after time. Expensive but rates an extreme negative on my polarity scale. A menace potion. My bottle was put down.
I'm on a bit of a lychee kick, so I ordered a sample of this. The rose is a bit heavy-handed for my liking, but at least I know the name of the perfume I've been smelling on so many people...not unpleasant, but not distinct enough for me either. I would have liked a bit more lychee in this, with my chemistry its very, very floral.
Slightly soapy, but rosy, too. Then the fruity notes hit. This is a very 'charming' scent.
It's very different from Lady Vengeance. While the Lady is sharp and has a certain "don't mess with Mama" vibe to it, Miss is all about silliness and nice.
I would like Miss charming to be less of a good little floral and more of a seductive very-present nectar, but that's not the case.
Tender rose note in center of composition is surrounded with hints of sweet strawberry and exotic litchi. If I could say that Miss Charming makes your day brighter, more feminine and fresh, than Lady Vengeance would make your evening full of seduction and magic. Nice pair, bottles are so romantic and too cute:)
