Supermodel Kate Moss launched a new perfume in July 2010. Sophisticated and stylish, Vintage Muse exudes luxury and femininity as well as sex appeal, matching Kate’s multiple charm.
Top notes: plum, rhubarb, black currant cream. Heart: peony, tiger orchid, purple violets. Base: ambergris, white musk, and chocolate.
Designed to reminiscent the classic perfumes from 1920s and 1930s, Vintage Muse bottle is faceted like a beautiful amethyst – colored jewel. The perfume is available as 15, 30 and 50 ml EDT, with an accompanying collection of body spray and body lotion.

I received a sample of this with an online purchase of some other frag, I would expect shops would give you samples that somehow fall within the classification of what you bought - it would have a higher probability of success ;)
Anyway - my frags are more oriental, so this is totally not my thing. I can see what some of the reviews here mean : this scent appears a combination of musk and sweet-light fruit that somehow smells.... over-ripe... I think this is what in a way mimics the poo scent....
The mix of plum, chocolate and orchid is very intensive and the longevity is nice. Approximately 6 hours.
Vintage Muse sounds like a very exotic and sweet drink to me. Like the ones prepared to be slowly appreciate.
First impression: weird alcoholicy intro; boozy floral sort of. Plum, rhubarb, amber and orchid in that order, almost an even mix up of all these ingredients.
It gets better once it settles, amber really comes out. It reminds me of something nostalgic that i can't quite pinpoint...smell of old clothes tucked away years ago that have been rediscovered.....definite oldie/vintage appeal.
Also, it smells completely different on the skin vs testing card=horrid; it settles nicely on the skin after about 10 minutes. As long as you can endure booziness at first, it becomes better with time, amber, vanilla and powdery violets emerge and stay close to the skin scent. Drydown is all about violets and chocolate.
Moderate longevity 4 hours.
While reading this review I notice there's a progression in favor of this scent:)
I must say, Thumbs up Kate for bringing Vintage-like scents back!
I cannot get enough of the opening of Vintage Muse. It smells so divine. It does smell like some vintage perfume. I can detect all of the top notes, the plum, the rhubarb and the black currant. They're all kinda sour but it's not a bad thing here. Because they are accompanied by something dark and quite mysterious. But the middle notes are one thing I don't really like in this perfume. I'm not very keen on the florals here and if they were a bit more subtle I probably wouldn't mind. Maybe it's only because I'm not a big fan of orchid.
But the base suits perfectly, chocolate is not too heavy. Usually I like when gourmand notes are strong but this chocolate is the best here, not being overwhelming. Heavy musk and amber together are a nice ending to this divine vintage-smelling fragrance.
It´s that same disgusting like Vintage. Musk on me smelled really intensive, synthetic and old-fashoned. It reminds me old woman in stinky fur which was in warderobe many years and wasn`t clean. YUK!! My husband also told that it´s awfull scent.
I have a precious bottle nestled in my underwear drawer, it's navy blue and gold and for me it's pure bottled memories.
Coty Fatale, had a brief outing in the late eighties then disappeared forever...I managed to pick up a bottle from Ebay, to be honest it's probably not wearable, top notes have gone a bit iffy, but when it settles I get just enough for it to transport me back to my heady youth.
Imagine my surprise when on buying 'Vintage Muse' blind, I find it to smell exactly like my beloved Fatale.
I'm so happy, now I can be sixteen again every day.
I paid £5.50 for 50mls plus 150ml body lotion, bargain!
i ordered a 30ml online, not arrived yet. after seeing the votes chart (so many dislike it) and reading all the reviews, i'm now hoping it'll turn out to be something i'll enjoy, as much as i'm fond of kate moss herself.
I bought this fragrance recently from boots on a sale in December, it is lovely and musky I first thought it was a bit old ladiesh and was like i hate this but now i have smelt it deeper it is APPSAULUTLY amazing and smells like christmas and winter and makes me feel so happy inside :)
I brought this perfume in a sale , & I absolutely adore it . It is reminiscent of classic fragrances . Pleasantly suprised , the bottle is beautiful too , like a amethyste chanel bottle. It is a warm fragrance , slughtly fruity but with a spicey note .
I was pleasantly suprised with this perfume.
I got it with a magazine subscription and was a bit reticent before I opened it (thinking it would be one of those horrible smelly celebrity perfumes).
On the contrary, despite the strong violet scent when sprayed, it develops into a very nice and sweet fruity smell on my skin (even my fiance, who normally does not even noticed, mentioned how nice I smelled!)
The more I use this, the more it reminds me of a hair salon the perming and styling solutions or the colouring solutions. I still like it but instead of smelling like perfume it just always smells like something I can't put my finger on. Lasts for ages with the lotion I still find but worn by itself doesn't last at all.
Well.... I got mine today (bought unsniffed).
I dont smell anything remotely similar to poo.
I sprayed some on my hand and my first impression was that it smelled like an old hair conditioner I used when I was a child. Also reminds of old fashioned fragrance.
It´s not excelent but also is not that bad.
i also agree with the negative reviews. according to the notes i should like it very much..but i don't. unfortunately i do not get any of these pleasant notes... i think the combination is just in my imagination great, in reality it is awful IMO
I was very keen to try this as its affordable and other members have likened it to Poison and Ultraviolet ( which i love both of ) .
I tested it yesterday , oh my - I have to agree with the negative reviews , this is foul stuff indeed. Both on paper and skin . The Poo and Pee people are smelling is what i got too .i could not smell anything remotely like Poison , Opium , ect .
I did give it a while to see if it turned out nice on the skin , No it did not. The first perfume Ive actually had to go and scrub off in a long time.
eeekkk!! What were they thinking with this!? I don't get any of the plum or spice or anything pleasant , just pure toilet /BO . Just awful !!
Please don't delete !
I really like this fragrance although it doesn't seem all that popular. I love the musky/musty undertone layered with black current and plum (smells like blackberries to me) on the opening. I also get the chocolate quite strongly. Added to all this is a powdery note. It's a mesh of smells but it seems to work. It pulls together to create something that really does smell vintage/powdery and musty. I really enjoy it, great for those days when your relaxing or can't be bothered to wear much makeup- effortless gorgeousness! Very unique scent for these days. The one HUGE drawback and reason why I wouldn't consider repurchasing is the lasting power is terrible! It's the same with her Velvet hour another wonderful perfume which the crap lasting power really lets down! So disappointing given that both these fragrances give the impression that a lot of time was spent on composing the fragrance itself why did they ignore the lasting power??
Edit:
The longer I have this perfume the more I appreciate it for the truly unique fragrance that I think it is. I have her first perfume and its ok nothing special. I do not like Kate Moss and to be honest pretty much hate the whole 'model' culture as regressive in terms of empowering women with their waif like images. So as u can imagine absolutely no bias there! In fact I'd be first to write it off if I could but credit where credit is due this truly is wonderful and unique good job Kate (or whoever composed it). This scent reminds me of a particularly fond memory in the mid summer when I was a child in the English countryside, the blackberries summer muskyness! so perhaps for me this particular scent is a psychological comfort and pleasure! Just goes to show the many facets involved in whether or not a particular perfume is to your taste!
My dear husband got this for me and I thought oh no I am not going to like this what am I going to do I don't want to upset him because he thought he had got me something really nice. When I first put it on after a shower, I swear I could smell poo. YES POO!! anyways, after it settled about 10 minutes later it smelt really unusual but not in a bad way. I could smell berries and chocolate but it also has a tinge of dior's poison. I know that sounds weird but you really need to give it a chance. I used the body lotion as well because that was in the set my husband got. The lotion softens it. I don't know girls you really have to just bite the bullet and give it a couple of tries because I think it really does smell nice and it is very different.
it's a cheaper version of Peony Pivoine. At first you smell cat urine but later it becomes nice floral :-)
Wow... I am quite disappointed with this one. Looking at the notes, it seems to be a nice fragrance but to my nose it just smells like soap. And I do not mean all those lovely perfumed soaps you can get in every store nowadays, but the simplest kind of soap made using an old recipe without any special additives. When taking a big whiff from very close, I can detect a hint of fruit and I think that if it was stronger I could like this perfume. Unfortunately it is barely there so for me it's just soap, soap, soap, and soap again. Don't get me wrong, it does NOT stink, but since it smells like soap on me, personally I do not see much point in buying it. It would be better if I just switched from shower gels to loads of soap instead ;-)
But hey, test it anyway because maybe it will turn out completely different on your skin!
Im really not at all keen on this it just smells old and really stale.
I can't really say a lot about it other than that i wouldnt buy it, and i wouldnt like it as a gift either, i think its one of the worst smelling celeb fragrances out there... x
THIS MUST THE WORST PERFUME I HAVE SMELT SO FARE ITS HORRIBLE I DONT UNDERSTAND WHO WOULD WEAR THIS SERIOUSLY ITS HORRIBLE I DONT LIKE THE ORIGINAL VINTAGE EITHER KATE WHATS HAPPENED TO YOUR PERFUMES I LOVE THE ORIGINAL KATE BY KATE MOSS AND VELVET HOUR. BUT THIS A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT SCENT
Hm... Smells vintage! xD Its similar somewhere to Poison and Samsara. It has this old fashioned smell to it that can turn bad on you. Still, it seems interesting - spicy yet somehow juicy, bit of berries. The worst of it is that it disappears from my skin pretty quickly, which is kinda rare :o Too bad :3
Lovely in theory, not so much in execution. Lots going on here like it's several perfumes clashing together. Strong, synthetic and spicy, doesn't agree with my skin one bit...will say it's not the safe, usual offering.
This review will probably be deleted, because I'm going to be nasty, as Vintage is nasty to my nose.
This perfume (to my nose) smells like poo. I think is the rhuburb. The first thing that comes to my mind when I smell this is exactly a dirty toilet. Why? It seems the nose of this perfume used putrid smells. Yes I can smell all the notes in there, but they are all mixed up and lefted to roat for weeks. Its just awfull to me.
I would really like to appreciate the dry down of this stuff but the top notes are just umberable. The bottle is beutifull and I would love to have it just for the bottle, but unfortunatly just the memory of this perfume makes me sick. Another bad perfume from Kate Moss :(
I didn't realise this perfume existed! I tried on the original Vintage a few months ago and liked it, and today while I was shopping I sprayed some of this on my bare wrist to see whether I still liked it. I didn't know this was a different scent.
Anyway... I am BLOWN AWAY by this one. Hours and hours later, I can still smell it very strongly on my wrist, which is always a factor I look for in fragrances. I'm not expert at identifying individual notes yet, but it's rich, it's slightly spicy, very floral, a little bit powdery, almost reminiscent of an 'old lady' fragrance - but yet modern, sexy and youthful at the same time. Heaven in a little purple bottle - this one has just hit the top of my Christmas list!
Edit: Okay, so I scored a bottle of this for just $20 during Christmas sales - ace! And it's a firm favourite. I carry it in my handbag and wear it almost every single day... I love it! The staying power isn't as great as I first thought, but I don't mind at all as it's cheap and the bottle is compact enough to take with me. The chocolate notes come up very strong on my skin, my husband loves this fragrance on me as, out of all my gourmand fragrances, he says this one is the 'yummiest'.
Definitely recommend this fragrance, it's great for everyday wear and has just the right measures of sex, sophistication and girly innocence to suit almost anybody or any occasion.
Vintage Muse is very likable, and dare I say, sexy. Kate Moss hasn't disappointed me yet with her perfume releases. She continues to create unique, well-priced and wearable fragrances for everyone to enjoy.
Grabbing my attention upon first sniff, it was quite humourous how many people approached the fragrance counter in the store I was in after they caught a whiff of this interesting scent.
I'd describe Vintage Muse as being a dark, spicy and sensual musky scent. It's not overly gourmand, however hints of delectable chocolate, rhubarb and plum emerge every now and then.
This fragrance relies on its rather smooth blend of rich florals and spicy musk. It's thankfully not as sweet as I expected it to be, nor as musky and fresh as the original Vintage.
Vintage Muse has some similarities to Velvet Hour, although they are completely different scents. The whole mood and concept is what I find familiar.
I was seriously considering adding this to my wishlist, however unfortunately the longevity is poor. This is Vintage Muse's only downfall in my opinion. At such a reasonable price ($30 AUD for 50ml), perhaps re-applying isn't too much of a bother, but it would be nice if it did last just that little bit longer.
This smells like ultra violet or giorgio g to me there is something going on there that is so familiar to me but I cannot pin point what it is. I love it will be interesting to see what other people say about it I definitely can smell ultra violet.
I love this! I put some on in a shop the other day and now I want it. Smells delicious, not too floral or sweet and kind of spicy :)
