Phoenix by Keith Urban is a Leather fragrance for men. This is a new fragrance. Phoenix was launched in 2011. The nose behind this fragrance is Loc Dong. Top notes are blackberry, cognac and suede; middle notes are musk, canadian balsam and mexican chocolate; base notes are woodsy notes, tonka bean, amber and leather.

A fragrant mix of pine, swede leather and blackberries. It has a dusty vanilla background that lasts throughout. I've really never smelled anything like this. it is very odd, but I like it. I think the swede stands out more than anything, and swede mixed with pine might throw some off. I don't think this is a "city man" smell. I imagine it more for the warm dusty canyons of Arizona where men wear their leather hats, swede vests, and rest under the pine and cedar trees while taking in the scenery.
I agree with saint James review. There is an awful sharp note that makes you step back and go "what the heck is that?!" I think it's the balsam mixed with the leather and it lasts for the entire life of the fragrance on the skin. I normally like gourmand sweet fragrances so I thought I'd enjoy the chocolate note and i can definitely smell it but it smells very artificial!
This fragrance notes just don't work together very well making it a sharp and overwhelming fragrance. Disappointing because I had high hopes for those notes...
This frag does not live up to the hype. All of the notes mentioned are pretty noticeable on my skin. At first spritz there's a very sharp note that annoys me. It is the same note in Tim Mcgraw's frag. It hangs around for about 45 minutes; waaay to long for me to get to the basenotes. I could clearly smell the chocolate in the middle. I liked it but that doggoned sharp note...ugh.
In McGraw's scent the note I hate dissipates after approximately 30 mins. It drys down to a beautiful skin scent. Phoenix is too sweet for my taste and that dreaded note lives all way through. Not for me.
The bottle seems rebellious and American folk, kind of art for itself. I fell in love indeed! The notes are interesting and make me impatient. I agree with Nattonline, though sued and leather are among notes, it seems oriental.
Oh no, smelled this today while considering it as a potential gift for my boyfriend- and... I was disappointed. Yuck at first smell, indeed. It was sharp and very Stetson Man-esque, uber cheap smelling. As it faded into the tissue (I sprayed the sample on a tissue to smell it) I smelled a sweet note and something similar to Bourbon. Overall, not a winner in my book. But if you like simple, non-complex mens cologne, this ones for you.
Just got my nose on this today. It starts out with a sharp spicy woodiness that's harsh but tolerable, then dries down to a leathery sweet blackberry vanilla accord. Overall much better in the drydown, people who aren't fans of spicy openings will not like this at all but if you can wait for the drydown, it's totally worth it. A bit pricy considering it only comes in 1 oz bottles retail. I did get an immediate compliment however!
" Leather"?! It seems "Oriental" to me. Berries, Cognac, Chocolate, and Tonka Bean?! What an interesting combination! Watch out Tim McGraw. :)
Update: I have seen this at Ross everywhere for a bargain. I still hesitate to make a purchase...
The notes sound great! I am SO looking forward to this! Don't know much about the guy, but that's not why I wear fragrances. Haha. : )
