Have you ever wanted to lightly slap someone across the face with a pair of white gloves? Ever wondered what bottled indignation might smell like? Well, here you go.

Lalique Pour Homme is a well done, interesting fragrance, but it's just too serious for me.

Oriental like Lalique pour Homme X Chypre floral Eau de Soir? How come? Cannot see/smell any connection at all. Sorry. Lalique pour Homme is the poor cousin of Heritage and Bois de Portugal.

Disappointed... Old, heavy, intoxicating. It reminds me of Eau du Soir from Sisley.

I don't get any citrus out of it, the opening is very very green and a little harsh, I guess it is the rosemary. It keeps the green aspect but after 30 minutes the cedar comes in and takes the lead making this a balanced fresh green woody scent. In the dry down it gets a bit sweeter, it must be the vanilla and the flowers.

I wear cologne every day at work and people have come accustomed to that. This is the first day I have had a chance to wear this this year due to the cold weather and what do you know, a dude came into my office and said, "now that smells good". Coming from one of our maintenance personnel, it says a lot. I have three from this house and I think this one is my favorite. Very dark dense woods with a hint of spice. I have the edp version.

Beside Ungaro Pour Homme III, Lalique Pour Homme is another cologne to demonstrate prestiqe with corruption! These two gems give me a feeling of being a top member of a Russian mafia! Lalique Pour Homme, with everything perfect yet almost in the middle, is a symbol of manliness and class.

A crisp and almost sparkling serious citrus, intimated with petroleum-inclining arrogant lavender is the beginning of such a great art. Though not so unique or original, the following soft smoky cedar adds more penetrating impact and overpowering character to the modern barbershop aura of the top phase. Yet whole elegance is maintained. A touch of roasted vanilla and murmured iris deliver a depth to this semi-fougère playground.

Lalique Pour Homme is a mandatory member of every manly man, yet the perfume can easily be worn by women. About structure, I would like to see more characteristic lavender and less ambery vanilla. Great longevity and sillage, specially longevity. But I am not sure if it’s a cedar perfume, or lavender one or vanilla.

Sour citrus vanilla oakmoss barbershop scent. Love or hate fragrance, but l like it.

Quality of this fragrance can not be denied. Longevity and projection is excellent.

Multi- level fragrance. Does start off like a "bug spray"/"Raid" vibe lol. Don't get nervous though. It last like a minute while the fragrance does its thing.

Adjectives: fatherly, Classy, sophisticated, respectful, serious.

It is a good work or family outing fragrance. Also, it is a good special occasion fragrance too.

If you like classic 100% man scent, pull the trigger.

It makes me think of a lawyer, accountant, or manager type of scent.

Not for teenagers. If you think you are an aristocrat, this is you too

8/10 love or hate though. Sample 1st.

I underestimated this one. Now I really like it.

At first, I thought the opening was dated for a late '90s scent. The big hit of citrus, rosemary and lavender is reminiscent of the fougeres of the previous decade, but feels out of place without the bold, macho heart and base notes that underpinned Lalique's powerhouse predecessors. Persevere into the dry drown, and you are greeted with a pleasantly soapy vanilla and lavender scent, with a nice twist of cedar. I thought it was good, but the seemingly out of place opening made me dislike it.

I stuck with this one, however, and I'm glad I did, because the opening makes much more sense after a few wears. I eventually realised that the opening notes are necessary to add a lighter touch to the dry down - they lend a contemporary sharp, herbal, citric feel to an otherwise traditional barbershop-fougere core of vanilla and lavender. The result is a very masculine scent that nods to the past while still delivering the freshness that became de rigueur among '90s scents. It's a nice balancing act, and it makes Lalique remarkably wearable, even by today's tastes - if one gets past the opening.

Overall performance is moderate, with fairly tame projection but decent longevity. The ingredients are of good quality, especially for the price, as is the solid bottle, of course. Overall, it's a nice, versatile fresh scent with just enough uniqueness to warrant a place on a collector's shelf. Great for cooler weather and evenings, too.

Its one of those perfumes. Where you have to develop a nose for it. Its fresh but for spring and fall for summers its ok, but not recommended. Although its has a tiny tiny bit of female vibe to it but over all its a pure male 30 and above perfume.
Occasion would be office where you have controlled environment. For out door use its ok but not recommended. Date scent no not at all.
Classic scent dont over spary it. In the dry down trasition journey you may smell it a bit like a bug spary. But when it becomes a skin scent iis amazing. Price i paid is aboUt 37 US.

ok, stop everything!! WOW this scent is so good!! It's fresh, sweet, aromatic and slightly woody!Very Classic and elegant but in a modern key. I can see it as wonderful business scent or as a fantastic scent for a special evening.
It lasts for a resonable amount of time (6-8 H) and has a moderate sillage.

Very interesting scent, as i said classy but sensual too.
Not expensive but extremely good.

This is a wonderful, calming, comforting scent. It gives me the confidence to handle "this" whatever "this" may be. It starts off a fresh lavender that gives way to a woody floral that drys to a sweeter woody floral. Most of the reviews say this is definitely masculine but I have a sneaky suspicion that this would be pretty sexy on a female. More testing is required.

This has to be one of the best scents ever. This transcends what you look like, your age, your financial positioning the usual factors of attraction, the colour of your skin etc. I say this as I have left my wallet or jacket in many pubs, and on realisation I have left my wallet, or Jacket I have returned back to the pub where I have on one instance, found the bar woman smelling my wallet and enclosed cash inside it, along with all my credit cards. I returned to ask the landlady if somebody had handed in a wallet. She said yes Melinda can't stop smelling it. Melinda was her daughter! She said wow this wallets smells so nice However you have to identify it, Can you tell me how much cash and what credit cards you have inside it and more importantly the aftershave you use? You can have the money and the cards but please leave me the wallet, it smells lovely. I have returned back to this pub where Melinda is now the landlady and she still says that smell is the best smell she has ever smelt. I bought her a bottle of the perfume for her and she said you can have your wallet back as I can smell the perfume all the time now. With the very same perfume spritzed on my Alexander Mcqueen Jacket as I had it hung up on a rack in a small pub on Burns Night, where they do not take too kindly to strangers, especially coloured ones. However I found a group of women holding my coat and I thought it was the cut of my coat which had attracted them to it. As I went to ask for it back several of the women said oh God don't leave, that aftershave is so nice, nicer than the apparel. One came up-to the name of my neck and said oh this smells even better on the skin. I was rather worried as I saw the men had a gelare on their faces, and I thought it quite rude to pick up someone's coat off a rack. I was told that on burns night it gets quite raucous, and that they did not take to kindly to non locales turning up, several of the men had been thinking of putting a cigarette burn or spilling a drink on it (especially when they had seen me walk in sporting the coat), so we thought we would safeguard it for the owner, and so that they could ask what the alluring smell was. I was quite taken back by this. I wrote it down for them. This perfume is a really nice smell and because it is not well known all the more better. It is a very nice, clean woodsy scent, and smells quality. The one that you know as Bentley Sport outside, when in reality I have a 1980s Ford Escort. On another occasion I was on crutches and the woman in a Boutique Bond Street, said to me oh you smell so nice, let me help me to your car. I was rather taken aback, call me shallow, call me embarrassed, I did not want her to see me in a Ford Escort, being young and I have to say materialistic, so I said I have come by Taxi. She insisted on calling on a cab for me and insisted she would help me inside it. "I wished all men smell like you she said" and that was working in an exclusive Bond Street Store who Perfume has been voted for several years and many proclaim it has been the perfume which has brought them so much attention. So for a person who worked for this chain to be taken aback has to be quite a scent. The cabby said where to Guv? I said go around the block and drop me off the corner. When I told him the story he couldn't stop laughing. He said your aftershave was worth more than the aftershave I was wearing. I said yes but not expensive as the cab fare for going around the block! Such is a London Cabbies fares!

I have the parfum version. This is a nearly spectacular lavender fragrance, with an absolutely smooth, seamless base of amber and woods, bound with what I call an "invisible" vanilla, or vanilla that remains fully in the background.

This, to me, is a modern lavender, if there could be such a thing. Yes, there is no scent more classic than lavender, but this is a boldly current use of it. Pure class.

If I had more patience or took more time to write proper reviews, my comments here would attempt to convey Lanier's general view on this; his review here encouraged me to try this, happily. See his review below for a worthwhile and more careful description of this little Roucel masterpiece.

It starts like a very light Habit Rouge. I was not sure whether I would really like this perfume based on the fact that it had been released in 1997 which placed it among a trend of scents that seem a bit dated and over-used to be appealing before long. But this one is already more leaning towards the classic 70/80s than the the late 90s. It is very complex and never smells the same under various temperatures and atmospheres. It starts with a very fresh lemony blast and evolves into a fougere/vanilla. It is extremely elegant, perhaps too elegant for today's standards, too aristocratic or upper-class than any situation today may require, and this is probably what I like best in this perfume : out of age, manly and classy at the same time, the perfume you imagine a hero in a classic film wearing a great suit could smell. Special and refined.

I've only been sampling this fragrance from a decant. This is a nice aromatic fragrance. I get mainly the citrus scents then a little after, I smell the darker scents of the wood and other herbal notes. This is one of several of Lalique's fragrances that should be given a try.

I like it a lot for normal week office wear, in a cold rainy day or in special nights too... it is just nice and so unique. Since it takes me a while to wear the same cologne, I don't wear one often as I rotate them and I have quite a few, but every time I get back to this one I discovered is a new note that makes it special, like today being a cold rainy day, it just stays so close to the skin but Omnipresent without being overwhelming. I love it.

A clean, fresh woody citrus that is totally beautiful and unique. It's a soapy scent that lasts with the iris playing its part. There is just a touch of cedar and vanilla in the clean dry down which works beautifully. Lalique pour Homme is just gorgeous.

so, this is what i feel about this (edp)...
+ the opening is amazing, blend of richness and ultimate fresh. sex in the bottle.

+ dry down i do feel similar to Pierre Balmain - BalMan, masculine elegant creamy vanilla-ish plus freshness of orange, bergamot, and herbs like sandalwood, in short dry down quite good.

+ balance combination of sillage & projection. its rich, but not too much.

+ for 1 wrist spray test, for almost 5 hour and still around. only it getting closer to my skin.. (25 celcius room temprature, 36 celcius body temprature.

- imo for edp, longevity should hold for 8 hours++ (working hour). but probably it just too hot in my place. i will change my (-) if there any new experience...

go buy..

My EDP version had great sillage and longevity only in first sprays.

After using it for about two weeks, I think it has lost its previous longevity and sillage.

I don't know what is wrong here...
Is it a sign of being fake? Has anyone heard such a problem with fake colognes?
Or it is easilly my taste that is accustomed to the scent and can't sense it like first days???

Can anyone help me???

To simplify this scent among the numerous notes used in this perfume, to me it is a balanced combination of Cedar and Vanilla. If you are familliar with the real cedar scent, you agree with me.

EDP Version Review (produced in 2013/9)

I Bought this cologne almost blindly.

It is a very well-blended and balanced scent.
None of the notes are cloying or over emphasized.
It is not a potent or strong scent in the negative connotation.

The sillage and longevity truly astonished me.
It really fills a room and a day after applying it, by only one spray on a fabric, when I enter that room I smell it easilly.
My bootle is produced in 2013/9, so it is certainly a newer reformulation with those IFRA restrictions...

It is not an old man perfume but I agree that it is not a metrosexual scent for guys under 25-30.

It is a classy and elegant scent. As the lion on it implies, it is for those men who have the soul and characteristics of a lion, the king of animals.

It's classy! Well blended and high quality. A blast of prominent lavender, then iris and vanilla ... joined by cedar in the background. And then deep, rich and complex woody notes mixed with vanilla. The scent is enduring and the ingredients hit with crystal clarity and form a high quality composition that radiates from the skin. A classic!

Well...I am confused by this one. Typically Laliques grab me by my throat and throw me to the ground. Encre, White, Equus, even Hommage are...simply Unique. Can't really put my finger on it, but starting with the packig, the exquisite glasswork, and the scent...This ticks only two first boxes. Bottle is as usual beautiful. Classy box, transparent glass with engraved lionhead and heavy cork, but the smell...Just isn't as special as I hoped. Just isn't my cup of tea. Maybe the smell is too refined? Too special for me and I can't appreciate it in the fullest...Reminds me of Franck Olivers bamboo too much. I loved it but it became too tiring...

Typically for the Lalique brand - it is classy, quality frag. Special, unique and powerful. It is quite formal, however. I avoid using it as it brings associations to me about a more elderly man. I imagine it on man who is in his late 40's at least (and I am in my early 30's).
Otherwise, again, this is a very distinctive and masculine fragrance with an excellent, niche quality; with enormous projection and longevity.
Well done, Lalique!

Classy elegant fragrance in a classy elegant bottle is the Lalique LION. And the like the iconic king of the Jungle, this is untamed in it's blend. I get a lavender citrus opening with a floral iris heart. The base is mostly a woody amber oakmoss with hints of patchouli and vanilla. Mainly this is a traditional men's cologne blend- citrus, lavender, iris, oakmoss, just powerfully amped up. Smell wise,it's brood mates are Cerruti 1881, Versace L'Homme, Boucherone PH and others of their ilk. It is a powerful, formal fragrance, full bodied but not overpowering. Just radiates very nicely all around for about 8 hours plus. Goes really well with a dark suit and tie, and if you have a Fortune 500 company to go with it, even better!! LOL Yes, there might be too much going on here and some folk might find this a tad uneven as well but for me, the sum of it's parts is just glorious. It is one of my favorite formal perfumes, absolutely love it. 9/10

Pleasant, fresh, clean soapy opening, with an accord of iris, citrus and lavender, so basically a traditional eau de cologne theme on musky, soft aromatic woods notes. As minutes go by you smell more clearly the amber notes underneath. I barely get any patchouli (which however, when you eventually get it, is too dry and earthy for this) and the sandalore is a bit dull and weak. After a while you get a weird faux suede note, which is somehow between pleasant and cloying. Frankly it smells a bit messy to me, as if it aimed at being some sort of "contemporary" scent mixing different themes to please as many as possible – the eau de cologne, the iris, the suede scent... and overall if you do not care about details, it probably does accomplish its mission in fact, as it is a quite safe "office crowdpleaser" – "without praise or blame", as the saying goes.

A clash of the notes. Too much going on with this one. I decided to pull it from the basement since I have not worn it in years. Now I remember why it is down there. This is definitely 90's in the same way as Giorgio Red screams 90's. This is the worst opening I have ever smelled. Citruses, spices and the woods are blended terribly from a Great Perfumer. Lalique's later offerings are better and safer. White,EN and L'Hommage.

At the start I can smell a mix of lavender with a lot of different citrus notes like bergamot, grapefruit etc. In the background there is a soft vanilla just poking it's head up to be noticed. This is soon joined by a cedar note which becomes more stronger.

Now the drydown is very nice with soft floral and vanilla notes mixing in with a touch of citrus and woody notes.

The start is a bit uneven with the citrus and woody accord but it soon finds it's feet and shines in the drydown. Giving you a nice soft spicy fragrance.

It starts with big citrusy scent combined with a lot of lavander. It's a "heavy" fragrance, very woody.
At he dry down i still smell a lot of lavander, a lot of wood and some vanilla

The notes are very well blended together, making this a true quaity perfume, but a classic like perfume. It's not modern at all.

For me the lavander doesn't work too well, i perceive it as an old man scent, so it's quite repugnant. And this is lavander all over the place...
If you like lavander then you will like this fragrance a lot.

I tried the EDP version, and regarding longevity and sillage nothing bad to say - very long lasting on my skin (12h+) and heavy sillage.

As ending, i don't think men under 50 should wear something like this

Blind bought this based on reviews here and I'd say its not a bad scent at all.

The Opening is rather weird, with a couple of strong (bergamot?, citrus and lavender) notes, its almost cloying but wait a little while and it gets woody and sweet, then finally it becomes this soft seductive scent - I get vanilla, and some sandalwood - I think.

Projection and Silage are quite good, longevity too - four to five sprays easily gets me 9 hours. You can also layer this with something else - I have tried this along with a couple of my other scents with good results.

As many have said, this definitely grows on you, but be sure to try before you buy if you can. All in all, Its a well made, versatile scent, comes in a gorgeous bottle and the quality of ingredients beats the price imo. This could easily be a good go-to fragrance for me.

I tip my hat to you, Mr Roucel!!!

I've worn the edp version for three weeks now. This scent does turn the clock back several decades. My grandfather was a sharp dresser, this reminds me of him back in the late 60's early 70's. I find it to be sharp when it is first applied, but it softens very quickly and is wonderfully aromatic. Slight powdery feel. Others have used the word "mysterious" and I agree. Also mentioned, the bottle itself is beautiful. On day one, I didn't know if I would wear this much. Three weeks in and I can't wait to put it on and find myself fluffing the shirt when I want a bigger sniff. Very comforting.

Okay so my last review(if you can call it that) didn't really give much insight into this fragrance but having tried it extensively I had to add it to my collection.
Now I have done, I think it may even be my favourite Lalique simply because of pour homme's wearability more than anything else. It has a wonderful soft yet masculine woodiness which opens with grapefruit and rosemary then quickly into the heart of peppery cedar and oakmoss. This fragrance has the Lalique signature of never once over stepping the boundary with any one note and keeping things exceptionally smooth at all times.
The opening is complex with notes I can't really pick out but can be perceived in the overall picture displayed by pour Homme...like lavender and vanilla I'm sure they're probably there but don't stand out to me.
It's the dry down that is magic for me very subtle and close, it managed to smell even better than the opening to my nose, gorgeous in fact maybe due in part to the vanilla showing up a little more and making for a creamy smooth, woody herby finish.
This fragrance is fresh and manages to stay a little warm at the same time...brilliant stuff!
I'd recommend this to lots of people as I think it has a broad appeal to fragrance heads, those who are looking for something classy but respectively cheap or even a relative noob who enjoys a masculine fragrance but doesn't want anything too extreme...Lalique pour Homme is perfect.
Great fragrance and very versatile works all year round and any occasion but I'm going to give it heavy rotation in the spring I reckon.

Outstanding quality of ingredients, very good longevity and sillage (I'm talking about EDP), low price. It's not for me because of its character: distant and conservative. Test it before buying!

Recent comments here use the word soft. Yes, that is what I was thinking when I first used it, along with powdery. It may also be the floral notes and the vanilla that give this perfume a softness. I tend to prefer more dominant woody and spicy notes. But I make an exception for this because it is so refined and pleasant to wear. Wherever you may think it belongs on the masculine-feminine spectrum, one point will have common agreement: it is quality stuff.

I was feeling out of sorts the other day and wanted an early night so I did one spray under the chin. It was better than a sedative.

Funny thing, I wore Mauboussin pH today and very short afterwards I felt I was wearing Lalique Lion for Summer, the same smell but much quiter and soft, ideal for hot weather. The fans of Lion's shoud try Mauboussin for it is more wearable and versatile being not so strong.

Unless I'm mistaken does this have a hint of Green Irish Tweed about it?? And I don't just mean a lavender note, the whole herby deal.
Just for a fleeting moment???
My nose was a little fried when I tried it to be honest I'd sampled lots of juice that day.
Can't offer a review at the moment but I know Lalique ooze quality in whatever they do and this fragrance impressed me...I'll have to get a sample to give a proper appraisal.
Please someone tell me am I imagining the GIT similarity? Or is it another Lalique...? I'm sure it was this one.

Love it! I am wearing it today. Forgot how nice it is. Smelling lemony, fresh, powdery, and the sandalwood and amber are just a touch and all is blended so well. This smells expensive, just like the name. So sexy on a woman. I like it a lot. Will buy a bigger bottle as I will be wearing this more often now.

Ok, now we've got a winner here. I love my old school scents but I reckon this falls between then and now. Classic juice without that constant shouting vibe. It is nice & subtle, the ladies can't keep quite when I wear it, the love it & I don't blame them, perhaps I wear it for them ;-). Most definitely a smooth vanilla lion.

EDP: Very potent, long lasting, it projects but not too much, not "in your face". On the contrary, it envelops you in a calm, cozy aura. It is heavy, dark but not mysterious, very elegant and straightforward honest. You have to be mature to pull this off (I don't mean old!). A bit powdery, the lavander is just right, not too much, flowery notes are toned down, very masculine, BUT: the downside: it is not the sexual kind of masculinity. It's the expression of a fatherly figure. I would imagine a fatherly embrace, a soft, kind, cozy, safe, wool flannel dressed fatherly love hug. If this is your ideea of "seductive"... it's not mine. Furthermore, after it's loong lasting drydown, on my skin it turns sour, it really smells bad for another solid hour. Not for me, but I would love it on my father :)

Hello,

this one is a great classic. I had it when I was a teenager and always returned to it.

It starts as an aromatic fougères that put forward lavender, fruity notes, floral notes and patchouli, with vanilla, amber and cedar in the background. Then it evolves as an aromatic woody with the fruity and floral notes becoming discreet while vanilla, amber and cedar take center stage.

I choose the EDP which has excellent longevity and good sillage. The EDT has much less longevity.

The only season which may not be appropriate is hot summer. With the aromatic notes, it might be tiring.

If you are looking for a "great classic", don't forget to try this one !

Astonishing frag for leader type of men...Tried it yesterday and i have to say this:Oldschool classic.Yes it smells like an old man cologne but its awsome. The only thing i didnt quite like was the opening which i found it a bit weird but then the drydown came and didnt care anymore for that weird opening.
The bottle with the lion engraved is totally beautiful.
The best part though was longetivity lasted and lasted and its nearly 24 hours and still smelling this beast! It projected for the first 6 hours!Just wow...

I like Lalique Pour Homme "Lion". But to me it seems to be the least modern fragrance in what Lalique offers for men. No, it's not outdated. But it smells like a kind of oldschool, I feel a little bit like I moved in time to late 80's or early 90's. And it's not a bad fragrance at all!

It's kind of hard to me to describe this frag. I would say it's the most classic fragrance from Lalique house. I have the EDP, so sillage and projection are great.

To me, it matches when you are wearing a suit. And you want to smell classy and elegant.

Overall, I like it. But I have to find a proper situation to wear it.

I bought this one because of the good reviews. But sadly, to me it smells like an old cologne. Powdery with some wood notes. It's pleasant and elegant, but not modern.
It smells really nice, but as I said before, I get some "old cologne" vibe. In my mind this reminds me of "Open" by Roger & Gallet, a fragrance that my father used to wear when he used to go out at night to the movies, theater or dinner.

(Eau De Parfum version)

Lalique Pour Homme is an elegant, gentleman's parfum with a decidedly "old world" vibe. It invokes the imagery of lemon meringue from Chez Maxim's, floral bouquets stolen from the Luxembourg Gardens; all housed in an antique cedar curio cabinet. Powdery, and citrus-y in it's softly sparkling top notes; hushing down to a quiet rosemary-tinged floral in the "mid". While the vanilla infused cedar, sandalwood, and a critical dose of oak moss, provide structure from start to finish -keeping the character masculine. Albeit a masculine in wire frames and garters. (That's men's garters, you kinky puppy, you).

What raises this fragrance above most "designers", is (Maurice)Roucel's evocative blending of ultimately, standard modern materials: Imbuing them with a simplicity, and "naturalness" more characteristic of perfumes from a bygone era. All the notes hit with crystal clarity, true to it's Lalique roots. An easy wear in spring and summer, for dressy yet relaxed events. Longevity lives up to it's parfum strength. Likewise, the sillage. But, projection is disappointingly soft. Yet, Lalique Pour Homme still stands firmly on it's finely loafer'd feet. Although this fragrance is not recommended for the young modern-scent crowd, it's undeniably a quality composition in the classic style.

A Swellegant affair!

Longevity: 9/10 (in base)
Projection(in summer temperatures): 6.5/10 (in mid)
Art/Creatives: 8/10 (bottle, juice, and concept)
How: mature, dressy but not necessarily formal,
summer, retro/vintage(y).

Well, let's talk about this Lalique: my version is the EDP and it’s about a strong and masculine fragrance. Also, I can say that it is classic, refined and powerful.

Starts a little bit citrusy, but you can notice, since the beginning, the vanilla + jasmine notes. It is necessary to give it the proper time to grow on your skin. Then, like 30 minutes later, it becomes another fragrance, creamier, virile and seductive. In this stage of evolution, the iris + jasmine notes are beautiful and noticeable.

Sometimes it reminds me of Dreamer, from Versace. Other times, reminds me of lots of other colognes, because it has that singular style from colognes that have oakmoss. That's why I could not consider it a "woody aromatic" fragrance. For me is more like a "aromatic fougere" scent.

The power? The sillage? The lasting? ABOVE ALL EXPECTATIONS!
PS: it is better if worn in cold weather or evening events.

the faintest of the faint... a nice eau de parfum, masculine, gracious, smooth and faint. Lasting power? it´s been 4 hours since I sprayed it on my skin, what can I say? it´s there, it definitely is, but it stays much too close to the skin, zero projection, for me a major criterion! Won´t be spending any money on this one anymore. I wear perfume not just for me and certainly not only for the sake of it. Perfume is all about the senses, what good may that be, if projection is 0%?! Exactly, none. I´m really sorry, coz I liked it a lot. Terribly sorry, actually, a pity for such a perfume and such a house.

In the ever expanding universe of fragrance we can find perfume being made by automobile companies, pop stars, shoemakers, Las Vegas casinos you name it. Many of these houses I shy away from. Who wants to smell like Caesar’s Palace at thee in the morning? The world of fragrance is not just the domain of perfume houses such as Guerlain, Molinard, and Caron anymore. Still these houses are the standard by which all else must be measured. But it is not the name of the house that is so important. It is the creation by the Nose that is where the true magic of scent lies. A master perfumer can create for anyone and create wonderful things. In this instance the nose is Maurice Roucel.

With Lalique Pour Homme we have a stunning masterpiece from the “House of Glass”. The cache is refined, and dripping with class and it all begins with the finely crafted bottle. Lalique is famous for its crystal, world renowned and sought after by collectors and museums. The bottle clear and bold with its iconic lion head is a little piece of art. But what it contains is ethereal bliss. If you have not discovered Lalique Pour Homme then you are missing a magnificent olfactory experience.

Monsieur Roucel who has created for everyone from Guerlain to Gucci has blended a veritable garden of delights. Lalique Pour Homme puts me in mind of an afternoon in May at the center near the great fountain of the Luxembourg gardens in Pairs. Fresh flowers blooming amid trees warmed by the sun and the smell of vanilla from an ice cream vendor dance though the experience. It is an incredible blend by a brilliant artist. For me the best part is from the middle as it moves into the dry down when the flowers begin to fade. Lavender, iris, lily of the valley, and jasmine melt into a rich delicious vanilla supported by golden toned amber with a provocative hint of sandalwood and patchouli. These last two notes really richly round out the dry down beautifully. Lalique Pour Homme lasts on my skin for a good 6 to 8 hours.

This is a self assured masculine fragrance for a man with discerning taste and urbane style. It has fluid lines, great style and a strong masculine complexity. It says something.

Five Gold Stars *****

This is one of the best fragrances in my wardrobe.
Definitely in my top 10 list.
Smells so classy and elegant with great quality and fair price.
Be honest with you guys, it's a linear fragrance and it doesn't change too much on your skin, but because of the great and sexy smell, it's not a boring fragrance.
Lets talk about the smell!
Start fresh, sweet, woody, spicy and floral all at the same time!
It's fresh but not like sporty and citrus based fragrances.
It's sweet but not cloying and powdery.
It's woody but not too much like fall and winter fragrances.
It's spicy. actually a little too much at the opening but in the dry down it's OK!
It's floral but not feminine at all!
Everything mixed and balanced together perfectly.
Work of art.
The floral notes give this fragrance just a little soapy vibe but not too much. just a little.
So elegant and classy smell. I can't say anything bad about it.
I have the EDP version and the projection and the longevity is great.
The bottle also looks so beautiful and elegant.

Although declared as a masculine fragrance I wear it every now and then... and I like it more and more. It smells both: fresh and deep vanilla-woody. I don't find sweet notes here, just dry vanilla-ambery scent, which gives some kind of incense overall smell and IMHO that's the reason why it is launched as mens perfume.
It's elegant and very interesting. Perfect womens going-to-work scent! All in all, I really like it!!!

On the base of your positive reviews I was very curious about it and I bought it blind. I was thinking like - in case if too masculine for me I can mix it with some other fragances from my collection to get "a new perfume".
However I must say, that Lalique for man itself is fantastique fresh woody fragrance which dries down to some ambery vanilla softnes.. still fresh and woodsy. Elegant and extremely long lasting on my skin. Yet I must say, stays strong on my clothes even next day. And yes, it is.... masculine.... but just pick up the right weather and here it is ...cool and a little bit strict womens scent.

Anyways I tried to compose something new.
Today I found out that it fits together very nicely
with Gres Cabotine Gold, which makes it a bit sweeter and fruity. In my country is pretty cold now, and my new creation is perfect today!!!

'Je ne sais quoi' is Lalique Pour Homme in a sentence. It's not entirely clear to me why I like this one! The top notes are quite dated masculine from the 70s or 80s. Oddly, they are not fresh in today's sense of the word, but lukewarm bergamot and citrus fruits.

The second phase of this frag, as others say, is truly herbaceous. It's an expensive, natural, mossy, earthy but clean smelling rosemary and lavender bomb, blending into a powdery iris. It's a bit dry, but totally compelling.

The drydown is a real beauty. This thing was on my sweater from a few days ago and I kept sniffing it, thinking, 'What the hec is that awesome smell?'. It's different to the mid-notes, being a smooth and creamy character of mystery. It becomes warmer in the base, with cedar and sandalwood, but I didn't detect any sweetness or vanilla as some have.

Overall, as classy and refined a fragrance as you could hope to find and definitely worth checking out for the aficianado!

From the engraved lion on the bottle, this fragrance shows its masculine character.

It surprisingly opens with some vivid citric notes but settles soon to a more "mature" aromatic character of floral scents.
The most interesting part of this fragrance is when the aromatic notes start to blend with the more subtle sandalwood base notes.
Longevity on my skin lasted about 5 hours.

So, this is a quite good choise for the colder nights of a mature gentleman... who doesn't want to stand out from the crowd!
Yes, this is the only major flaw of this scent, it doesn't possess its own distinctive character and judging from its price I would expect it to present some kind of "personality".

Lalique Pour Homme (Lion) is neither one of the most original fragrances available on the market nor the best Roucel's composition but it's definitely a remarkable scent. It opens with a fresh grapefruit (or maybe pomelo) and lavender accord that quickly evolves into a smooth cedar mid-phase that brings to my mind of a couple of Arturetto Landi's latest releases (Biehl's AL3 and Profumi Del Forte's Versilia Platinum). In this phase LPH stays close to the skin gently claiming your attention with its understated presence. In the drydown I get hints of vanilla and some floral note but as I tried to go deeper to detect some other ingredients, LPH suddendly desappeared.

Overall this is a good and very versatile fragrance and it's recommended to anyone who don't expect a super sillage and a tenacious lasting power from their perfumes. If you like Lalique Pour Homme but you find it too subtle check out Biehl's AL3 and PDF's Versilia Platinum.

do colognes have strong vanilla notes?yeah, they do.there's much vanilla in lalique.
as I like lalique perfumes very much I badly wanted to try it on my man.it matches his chemistry, but in fact after launching lalique equus 4 years later I changed my mind that I like the new one more!
it's surprisingly not citric at all.just a splash of bergamot at the first of trying then flowers and then sweet sugar man!
yeah,it's a sweet sugar man,as all I receive from it is vanilla.I like vanilla in perfumes for women, never imagined I would like it in male colognes too!a bit spices and the old classic base notes.
I can name so many colognes who smell similar way,but they are done after lalique,so it can't be called imitation.
I think this one is placed in the border between classic and moderns.it's not ultra modern and it can't be called a blind classic.
in 2 words 'noble' and 'subtle'.
