Astonishing frag for leaders...Tried this yesterday and i have to say this:Oldschool classic.Yes it smells like an old man cologne but its awsome. The only thing i didnt quite like was the opening which i found it a bit weird and offputting but then the drydown came and didnt care anymore for that weird opening.
The bottle with the lion engraved is totally beautiful.
The best part though was longetivity lasted and lasted and its nearly 24 hours and still smelling this beast! It projected for the first 6 hours!Just wow...
Smell:8.5/10
Longetivity:10+/10
Projection:8/10
I like Lalique Pour Homme "Lion". But to me it seems to be the least modern fragrance in what Lalique offers for men. No, it's not outdated. But it smells like a kind of oldschool, I feel a little bit like I moved in time to late 80's or early 90's. And it's not a bad fragrance at all!
It's kind of hard to me to describe this frag. I would say it's the most classic fragrance from Lalique house. I have the EDP, so sillage and projection are great.
To me, it matches when you are wearing a suit. And you want to smell classy and elegant.
Overall, I like it. But I have to find a proper situation to wear it.
I bought this one because of the good reviews. But sadly, to me it smells like an old cologne. Powdery with some wood notes. It's pleasant and elegant, but not modern.
It smells really nice, but as I said before, I get some "old cologne" vibe. In my mind this reminds me of "Open" by Roger & Gallet, a fragrance that my father used to wear when he used to go out at night to the movies, theater or dinner.
I Just Got It from EBAY-Love The Scent & Very Long Lasting about 8 Hours + (Blind Buy No Regret)
Jose Marcos, I get the same problem. Just got a sample today and by the time I got to work it was being overpowered by the fabric softener in my shirt!
This is with sprays to pulse points, neck, and chest!
I think one last chance with a few more sprays otherwise this will be one, sadly, lost on me.
Classic!! and elegant! That is all I can say about this cologne. A true Masterpiece.
Does anyone think it is way too close to the skin? I have de EDP and can't hardly smell it at all after about 5 min. For a Eau de Parfum is very dissapointing...
a very good fragrance and a beautiful smell
Classic. In my opinion this is most suitable for older people; may smell a bit dated.
This fragrance smells vanilla and cedar mostly.
It has a great lasting power (around 10 hours), but a soft projection and sillage. Definetely a must have for any fragrance lover.
hello...i just receive it in EDP, the smell is great, a little too classic, mature, casual style, aromatic woody citrus fragrance, the longevity is very good, i like it, but a will not buy again..
Heaven Scent
two words :
Smooth operator.
powdery, but not too cloying. younger crowd will not pull this off but 45+ will do.
(Eau De Parfum version)
Lalique Pour Homme is an elegant, woody, gentleman's parfum with a decidedly "old world" vibe. It invokes the imagery of lemon meringue from Chez Maxim's, bouquets hand-picked from the Luxembourg Gardens; all housed in an antique cedar curio cabinet. Powdery, and citrus'sy in it's sparkling top notes; hushes way down to an all too quiet (but balanced) aromatic/floral mid. While the cedar, sandalwood, and a prominent oak moss, provide structure from start to finish; keeping the character masculine. Albeit a masculine in wire frames and garters. (That's men's garters, you kinky puppy, you). What raises this fragrance above most "designers", is (Roucel)'s evocative blending of ultimately, standard modern ingredients: Imbuing them with a simplicity, and "naturalness" more characteristic of perfumes from a bygone era. All the notes hit with crystal clarity, true to it's Lalique roots. An easy wear in Spring and Summer, for dressy yet relaxed events. Longevity lives up to it's parfum strength. But, projection is disappointingly soft. Yet, Lalique Pour Homme still stands firmly on it's finely loafer'd feet. Although this fragrance is not recommended for the young modern-scent crowd, it's undeniably a quality composition in the classic style.
A SWELLegant affair!
Longevity: 8/10 (in base)
Projection(in summer temperatures): 6/10 (in mid)
Art/Creatives: 8/10 (bottle, juice, and concept)
How: mature, dressy but not necessarily formal, summer, vintage(y).
Well, let's talk about Lalique Lion.
My version is EDP 75ml. So, it is a strong and masculine fragrance. Also, I can say that it is classic, refined and powerful.
Starts a little bit citrusy, but you can notice, since the beggining, the vanilla + jasmine notes. It is necessary to give it the proper time to grow on your skin. Then, like 30 minutes later, it becomes another fragrance, more creamy, virile and seductive.
In this stage of evolution, the iris + jasmine notes are beautiful and noticeable.
Sometimes it reminds me of Dreamer, from Versace. Other times, reminds me of lots of other colognes, because it has that singular style from colognes that have oakmoss. That's why I could not consider it a "woody aromatic" fragrance. For me is more like a "aromatic fougere" scent.
The power? The sillage? The lasting? ABOVE ALL EXPECTATIONS!
PS: it is better if worn in cold weather or evening events.
the faintest of the faint... a nice eau de parfum, masculine, gracious, smooth and faint. Lasting power? it´s been 4 hours since I sprayed it on my skin, what can I say? it´s there, it definitely is, but it stays much too close to the skin, zero projection, for me a major criterion! Won´t be spending any money on this one anymore. I wear perfume not just for me and certainly not only for the sake of it. Perfume is all about the senses, what good may that be, if projection is 0%?! Exactly, none. I´m really sorry, coz I liked it a lot. Terribly sorry, actually, a pity for such a perfume and such a house.
Is anyone aware of any reformulation of this? Particularly the edp.
In the ever expanding universe of fragrance we can find perfume being made by automobile companies, pop stars, shoemakers, Las Vegas casinos you name it. Many of these houses I shy away from. Who wants to smell like Caesar’s Palace at thee in the morning? The world of fragrance is not just the domain of perfume houses such as Guerlain, Molinard, and Caron anymore. Still these houses are the standard by which all else must be measured. But it is not the name of the house that is so important. It is the creation by the Nose that is where the true magic of scent lies. A master perfumer can create for anyone and create wonderful things. In this instance the nose is Maurice Roucel.
With Lalique Pour Homme we have a stunning masterpiece from the “House of Glass”. The cache is refined, and dripping with class and it all begins with the finely crafted bottle. Lalique is famous for its crystal, world renowned and sought after by collectors and museums. The bottle clear and bold with its iconic lion head is a little piece of art. But what it contains is ethereal bliss. If you have not discovered Lalique Pour Homme then you are missing a magnificent olfactory experience.
Monsieur Roucel who has created for everyone from Guerlain to Gucci has blended a veritable garden of delights. Lalique Pour Homme puts me in mind of an afternoon in May at the center near the great fountain of the Luxembourg gardens in Pairs. Fresh flowers blooming amid trees warmed by the sun and the smell of vanilla from an ice cream vendor dance though the experience. It is an incredible blend by a brilliant artist. For me the best part is from the middle as it moves into the dry down when the flowers begin to fade. Lavender, iris, lily of the valley, and jasmine melt into a rich delicious vanilla supported by golden toned amber with a provocative hint of sandalwood and patchouli. These last two notes really richly round out the dry down beautifully. Lalique Pour Homme lasts on my skin for a good 6 to 8 hours.
This is a self assured masculine fragrance for a man with discerning taste and urbane style. It has fluid lines, great style and a strong masculine complexity. It says something.
Five Gold Stars *****
This has grown on me, I really find it now exquisite and one of a kind. It´s so comforting and soft and lovely.
I have edp, edt and after shave, all are good but my favorite is the edp, better opening and note separation, much longer lasting.
really worth testing.
All are original formulations, I don´t know if there has been any change.
This is on of the best fragrances in my wardrobe.
Definitely in my top 10 list.
Smells so classy and elegant with great quality and fair price.
Be honest with you guys, it's a linear fragrace and it doesn't change too much on your skin, but because of the great and sexy smell, it's not a boring fragrance.
Lets talk about the smell!
Start fresh, sweet, woody, spicy and floral all at the same time!
It's fresh but not like sporty and citrus based fragrances.
It's sweet but not cloying and powdery.
It's woody but not too much like fall and winter fragrances.
It's spicy. actually a little too much at the opening but in the drydown it's OK!
It's floral but not feminine at all!
Everything mixed and balanced together perfectly.
Work of art.
The floral notes give this fragrance just a little soapy vibe but not too much. just a little.
So elegant and classy smell. I can't say anything bad about it.
I have the EDP version and the projectin and the longevity is great.
The bottle also looks so beautiful and elegant.
Although declared as a masculine fragrance I wear it every now and then... and I like it more and more. It smells both: fresh and deep vanilla-woody. I don't find sweet notes here, just dry vanilla-ambery scent, which gives some kind of incense overall smell and IMHO that's the reason why it is launched as mens perfume.
It's elegant and very interesting. Perfect womens going-to-work scent! All in all, I really like it!!!
The bottle:
I absolutely love the bottle. The lion gives this fragrance status and power. The cap is also well done and the sprayer is good. A luxury piece to look at :)
The juice:
I get powdered grapefruit and orange in the opening. Very interesting and forces me to keep my nose on my wrist. It becomes a little more tangier about a minute in or so.
This turns more woodier in the middle with a gentle touch of spice. But the powdery element remains throughout.
Some flowers greet you as you enter the final stages. The base is woody (sandalwood), with a pinch of vanilla and spice.
Overall:
I classify this as unisex. It's a luxury fragrance that is well-made. Picture yourself in a grandieuse theatre watching an epic play dressed equally exquisite. This is the fragrance to compliment you perfectly.
Not sure how often I would find myself in that position which makes me doubt how often I would use this fragrance. But definitely give this a try and see whether you like it or not.
**UPDATE** I must say, this lasts a long time on the skin. Even if it only gives you a whiff of scent in the end, it is absolutely gorgeous.
On the base of your positive reviews I was very curious about it and I bought it blind. I was thinking like - in case if too masculine for me I can mix it with some other fragances from my collection to get "a new perfume".
However I must say, that Lalique for man itself is fantastique fresh woody fragrance which dries down to some ambery vanilla softnes.. still fresh and woodsy. Elegant and extremely long lasting on my skin. Yet I must say, stays strong on my clothes even next day. And yes, it is.... masculine.... but just pick up the right weather and here it is ...cool and a little bit strict womens scent.
Anyways I tried to compose something new.
Today I found out that it fits together very nicely
with Gres Cabotine Gold, which makes it a bit sweeter and fruity. In my country is pretty cold now, and my new creation is perfect today!!!
ELEGANT, SOPHISTICATED, SEXY, THE PERFECT SCENT FOR A MEN. I NEVER IMAGINE THAT THIS WILL EVER SMELL SO ETERNAL. I STILL TRY TO FIND A WORD TO DESCRIBE THIS PEACE OF ART,
SCENT: 10/10
LOVE IT
Well, it reminds me too much Davidoff's Silver Shadow, I think the mandarin orange its very strong on this one. Good, but not too good.
I am a woman and i wear it. It is a nice scent for a man. i hate when men wear overpowering scents. this is classic and fresh enough without being outdated.
This is a very elegant fragrance. Amber is without doubt the most pronounced note and seems to stay out front. If you're looking for something smooth, elegant with good staying power, I high recommend it.
'Je ne sais quoi' is Lalique Pour Homme in a sentence. It's not entirely clear to me why I like this one! The top notes are quite dated masculine from the 70s or 80s. Oddly, they are not fresh in today's sense of the word, but lukewarm bergamot and citrus fruits.
The second phase of this frag, as others say, is truly herbaceous. It's an expensive, natural, mossy, earthy but clean smelling rosemary and lavender bomb, blending into a powdery iris. It's a bit dry, but totally compelling.
The drydown is a real beauty. This thing was on my sweater from a few days ago and I kept sniffing it, thinking, 'What the hec is that awesome smell?'. It's different to the mid-notes, being a smooth and creamy character of mystery. It becomes warmer in the base, with cedar and sandalwood, but I didn't detect any sweetness or vanilla as some have.
Overall, as classy and refined a fragrance as you could hope to find and definitely worth checking out for the aficianado!
From the engraved lion on the bottle, this fragrance shows its masculine character.
It surprisingly opens with some vivid citric notes but settles soon to a more "mature" aromatic character of floral scents.
The most interesting part of this fragrance is when the aromatic notes start to blend with the more subtle sandalwood base notes.
Longevity on my skin lasted about 5 hours.
So, this is a quite good choise for the colder nights of a mature gentleman... who doesn't want to stand out from the crowd!
Yes, this is the only major flaw of this scent, it doesn't possess its own distinctive character and judging from its price I would expect it to present some kind of "personality".
My rating: 7/10
For the edp, I like it very much, I don´t think I love it, but it´s a flowery powdery vanilla that´s very pleasent. Initially quite strong but it changes rather quickly to a more subtle scent.
edit: Like it more and more. 8/10
It's a classy sweet herbal overdose, a lady trap!
It smells like ladies' cosmetics. It's so chic and so classy. Something like match point of classical and modern perfumes.
It opens and continues so sharp and sweet-sour and fresh, a little bit waxy and extremely spicy and herbal.
After hours, when it goes to dry down, woody tone appears. Though lots of notes are listed above, the scent is something highly matured, highly integrated and determining one note is so hard. It's a luxury item which is more and more in its EDP version.
longevity: I own a EDP and it's perfect, it stay for hours on my skin, 10/10
projection: just a lady trap, a monster, 10/10
Lalique Pour Homme (Lion) is neither one of the most original fragrances available on the market nor the best Roucel's composition but it's definitely a remarkable scent. It opens with a fresh grapefruit (or maybe pomelo) and lavender accord that quickly evolves into a smooth cedar mid-phase that brings to my mind of a couple of Arturetto Landi's latest releases (Biehl's AL3 and Profumi Del Forte's Versilia Platinum). In this phase LPH stays close to the skin gently claiming your attention with its understated presence. In the drydown I get hints of vanilla and some floral note but as I tried to go deeper to detect some other ingredients, LPH suddendly desappeared.
Overall this is a good and very versatile fragrance and it's recommended to anyone who don't expect a super sillage and a tenacious lasting power from their perfumes. If you like Lalique Pour Homme but you find it too subtle check out Biehl's AL3 and PDF's Versilia Platinum.
Rating: 7-7.5/10
i just tried it today and i really like it, it has an obvious vanilla since the opening that i love! also the amber is detectable along with the flowers...this is a tuxedo fragrance.
Oh, it’s unbelievably sharp and strong and after 24 hours it smells like “Encre Noire”!
I can’t stand it. It causes nausea to me.
I don’t like it.
One of the classiest scents around. Rich, delicious, refined, masculine, and quietly penetrative. If Maurice Roucel were a rock star, I'd be a crazy groupie.
woody-spicy
joins elegance with manly strength and sensuality
do colognes have strong vanilla notes?yeah, they do.there's much vanilla in lalique.
as I like lalique perfumes very much I badly wanted to try it on my man.it matches his chemistry, but in fact after launching lalique equus 4 years later I changed my mind that I like the new one more!
it's surprisingly not citric at all.just a splash of bergamot at the first of trying then flowers and then sweet sugar man!
yeah,it's a sweet sugar man,as all I receive from it is vanilla.I like vanilla in perfumes for women, never imagined I would like it in male colognes too!a bit spices and the old classic base notes.
I can name so many colognes who smell similar way,but they are done after lalique,so it can't be called imitation.
I think this one is placed in the border between classic and moderns.it's not ultra modern and it can't be called a blind classic.
in 2 words 'noble' and 'subtle'.
