After the success of Hypnose for women, Lancome launched masculine version of this perfume in a similar bottle. Actor Clive Owen is the new face of Lancome's Hypnose Homme men's fragrance. Perfume is built on a contrast between aromatic and oriental notes. The composition starts out with relaxing fresh notes of bergamot, mandarine and green mint note followed by a spicy cardamom accord. Its aromatic heart is made of lavender note from the South of France harmonized with spices and almond note. The oriental base is composed of patchouli from Indonesia, musk and amber. It was created by Maurice Roucel in 2007.

a bit underrated, but smells sooooo goooood!!!
Yet another cardamom bomb. Yes, this is darker than the average generic cardamom bomb, but considering I only like a hint of cardamom, this scent is a no go for me. Give me clove, give me cinnamon, but please stop with the onslaught of cardamom.
This really hypnotizes. High class Fragrance.
After a great research on fragrantica, i found this glory. A very high class scent with distinctive character. Warm and sweet. Reminds me of Fahrenheit in a sweet way. Suitable for Night formal occasions.
It's the best cologne on the planet!
عطر خوبیه و من راضیم،جزو کلکسیونم دارمش و در روزهای خاصی استفاده میکنم،به داشتنش می ارزه
One of the guys I was dating had this perfume. I don't know if it's the reaction to his skin or i just generally didn't like the scent, but everytime he was wearing it I felt like I'm being knocked out by the scent. Too strong, definitely not for twentysomethings.
Love this one,not too strong, not too quiet, just right
7/10
This is a real hypnose, mysterious, charming. Drydown is so special and sexy...
Love it on my husband.
Smells smooth. Has anybody ever been told they smell synthetic by another person? Ever?
Warm and sweet, lovely smell...the opening slightly reminds me of TM B*Men, but softer. Nice fragrance
this one is not feminine at all ,
I see too many reviews say about feminine and sweet
accords but I disagree,
there is a little bit of sweetness but not
like sweet boy teen scents of nowadays,
It reminds me of fahrenheit as it has fougere elements indeed.
Can't believe I haven't reviewed this already. This is now one of my two go-to scents (out of more than 30 bottles) with the other being Pure Havane. Something about this and other amber based fragrances are so alluring and seductive to me, and I have decided amber is my favourite fragrance note, it does wonders on me.
On my skin, this becomes wonderful throughout the whole time this is on. It is EASILY one of the best fragrances I have ever owned.
Longevity is fab, I get anything from 7 hours up.
Projection/Sillage is amazing, it can fill my whole room and people know I am around or know I was there/walk past them. Like I say, on my skin, amber based frags seems to do wonders, your mileage may vary, but it is at least worth a try in my eyes.
My boyfriend wears this and I never want him to change it. He smells so divine, I always want to hug him!
This one really lasts and exudes pure class. Girls love it too. If you want to smell different and like an individual who has put thought into their appearance, this is the go-to fragrance. The more "common" people will go to armani code. This hidden little gem is worth every dollar
Lancome Hypnose is a smooth, gentle fragrance that is sexy and clean. The downside is of course the longevity and sillage.
This is a very gentle, balanced blend. I've never encountered a lavender/gourmand scent this soft. It smells nice but some (those used to spraying ten times with A*Men, for example) will view this as weak. So, it's not for the party and club scene. On the other hand, I doubt it will offend anyone and could be used for just about any occasion that doesn't require strength, though I assume the idea was that this would be a "romantic" fragrance. It doesn't smell "synthetic" to me and it's got enough dynamism to keep it from getting boring. A fruity/spicy accord persists for a long time. I'll try it again and update, because I find that the second wearing usually tells me everything I need to know about a fragrance.
I did expect more of Roucel's work. This is a good scent, but nothing new added. Lots of cumin/spices in the opening, laying in a cedar/ambery base. Longevity is about average, and projection and sillage are low.
I really believe that this frag is better on women than men. It has something very feminine in it that I can't quite place my finger on. Just suffice to say, I've taken it from my husband for my own enjoyment.
Edit: I now know why this scent seems slightly feminine or unisex to me. It reminds me of going to the spa at the resorts in Mexico that we have a vacation membership with. I believe it is the lavender and the mint with a bit of citrus that makes me think of those experiences.
As others have mentioned it does not have very loud sillage, and the longevity is just okay. It lasts longer on me, than on my husband, probably due to my oily skin, and his dry skin.
Beautiful opening notes - like a warm amber sweet offering, alas after approximately 45 minutes it quickly degenerates into a synthetic overkill of patchouli - I personally find this element particularly hard-going, alas I had similar trouble with 'Spice Bomb' by V&R.
Masculine???? This is more feminine , but in a good way! My sister bf had it and sprayed it and I was like oh my god what is that? I love this scent. And yes in a way it is like Givenchy Pie because it's almost unisex. Reminds me of sweet smokey cigars .
OH BOY, this is a mess. give me headache. synthetic MESS. Don't understand the love for it
I wouldnt say its similar to Fahrenheit but it has the same subtle mandarin scent.
You can fully understand the name after the first spray, the first couple of minutes are absolutely hypnotizing.
If you are looking for a signature scent, maybe this is not for you. Its not versatile at all, but perfect for nights or cold weather, unfortunately its too cloying in the heat.
Beware, this is very heavy on amber, if you dont like it, this will be a nightmare for you after 7-8 hours because in the last phase of the scent almost every other note dies out leaving the sweet amber alone.
I love this fragrance and I just bought a new Hypnôse Homme deodorant spray today. Apparently it has been discontinued so they sell off the line pretty inexpensive now. I love the lavender and talc scent I get out of this. Even though they are not listed as ingredients in it. It's in fact quite sophisticated overall. Just too bad all my faves have been discontinued. Same with Tokyo by Kenzo, Horizon by Guy Laroche, Gucci Rush for men etc.
to me its a very fresh citrus smell that is warmed up with amber, oriental ingredients but almost smells completely citrusy, soapy fresh and clean
Nice smell but for 30+ y old mens i think. Classy scent. I bought this and gave my father and he enjoys this. Very nice projection and longevity. Don't buy if You don't like lavender.
A romantic, classy, warm and sensous perfume which is lovely but does not last or project...
I applied 6 heavy sprays
0 - 1.5 hours - 1 foot projection. Scent is class. This is so romantic, it should have been the perfume of the Jack of Hearts. Warm and intimate, soft yet strong, little like perfume syrup without too much sweentess. I imagine a man using this after he has fallen in love with a special partner and that honeymoon of love and fantasy period...it really is special. (Though there is a minor ingredient which I can faintly detect which is not too nice, but to focus on this would be picky..) Lovely..Ages 30-50
1.5 hours - 3 hours. Close to skin, 3 inch projection at best. Linear scent
3-5 hours. Close to skin, no projection. Shame it cannot stay any longer
They should bring out an EDP and then I reckon this scent would be floating around Windsor Castle for years to come..
Good
Hypnose Homme is mostly sweet amber and oranges to my nose. I'm unfortunately not experiencing the spices and rich green accords like everyone else. While I'm not blown away by the scent, I'm not hugely disappointed either.
The scent is pleasant enough with a smooth, resinous feel, but it fails to move me in any way. The opening actually turned me off at first with a strong burst of synthetic lavender and bergamot burning my nose hairs.
The heart was much more settled with a rich ambery-ness, complimented with a touch of mint leaves. The composition remains quite linear from here on out. For some reason this fragrance gives me a headache after a while, so I quickly removed this fragrance from the 'potential gifts for boyfriend' list.
It has the ability to be quite sensual and alluring at times, especially when worn during the colder seasons or out on the town. On some men I don't doubt it could smell devastatingly sexy, but for me it fizzles rather than sizzles.
Cardamom and amber mixed together well make a beautiful scent.
If you wanna add some quality to your charm, put this one on. Big Up to Lancome for making this wonderful fragrance...
I love this stuff I just recieved the gift set in the mail, smells pretty amazing, it's sweet, it's minty, it's, peppery, nice stuff to bad it's discontinued, I hate when they do that.
I love this perfume.
It has a sweet smell in the beginning, which will become more blurred over time.
The longevity and projection are both good.
It has similarities with Lolita Lempicka Au Masculin, but I can guarantee that this is much better.
Best of all in this perfume is the bottle....absolutely spectacular.
Not one of my favorites, but it is a good perfume.
It's openning with citrus-flavored and mint, cardamom is composing this. This is really noticeable in 20-25 minutes.
After half an hour comes in lavender. It's very dominant. Who don't like lavender, not be fooled by the opening and don't buy this scent. =)
Closing smells typical amber-patchouli mixture.
Results:
You can use this perfume on special occasions or formal situations. I would recommend you to wear with suits. Because this is, scent of a complete gentleman.
The only bad side is monotonous leading of lavander.
Scent:7/10
Longevity: 8/10
it is a well blended nice fragrance. It is a good compliment getter.Good sillage and longevity 6 to 8 hours.Stays close to skin after 3 hours.I think the mint note in it makes the fragrance versatile. For some reason it is underrated.
A beautiful smooth classy scent. Complex, reminds me of different fragrances - all good. Lovely bottle. It's a must buy for me. Lancome have done a good job with this.
does anyone know how the hypnose "after shave lotion" which fluid is just like after-shave, compares to the edt - is it much weaker? why do they call it "lotion"
Just divine
The base notes in this fragrance are striking and elegant, especially in the dry down. All the notes are harmoniously blended and not too densely textured. It is a very agreeable and completely warm and affable scent, and it seems suitable for almost any occasion. Some have characterized this as "chemical" smelling, but I do not detect any 'synthetic' characteristic at all. It has a refined and delicious sillage.
This fragrance has a dominant opening of lavender, followed by a very soft bergamot. And so this combination continues to the end without major changes.
Finally, a very linear fragrance, safe and easy to use. Pleasant aroma, but not a big deal. My thumbs down will focus on longevity. 3 ~ 4 hours after application and virtually disappeared from the skin.
I had this a few years back and promptly sold. I was reading some of the positive reviews on here and thinking how wrong they were...until I was going past the lancome stand and decded t o give it another go. How RIGHT they were and what an idiot I was for getting rid of it. It is fantastic. It lasts forever and dries down to hay-like patchouli amber which gives the scent a sweet yet masculine feel. Well done Mr Roucel.
Parfum merveilleux! Sophistiqué, élégant et prenant!
I was very surprised when I first smelled it. I had the impression of smelling something very classy, but modern and youth. Something very fresh at the beginning but with some warmness in the background. It has certain ambiguity (not in a sexual way, but in the field of "temperature" if you know what I mean). It's like the clash of heat vs cold, issue that I remember to have had with TL pour Lui by Ted Lapidus. Then, I saw the creator's name and, surprise surprise, Maurice Roucel!. This man is a genius in creating sweet but fresh scents but in a way that your nose turns crazy because of that "clash" of cold/sweet accords (Rochas Man is another example).
In this case, Hypnôse starts with a potent mixture of fresh mint, cardamom and lavender (a very potent and realistic lavender)that creates this cold/warm stage. The initial squirt of this juice is pure class. In some points it's very similar to the opening of Yves Saint Laurent's La Nuit de L'Homme, but less sweet and more refined (maybe, the cardamom mixed with some citrus and lavender reminds me a little bit of the aura of La Nuit de L'Homme)
Then, in the middle, you got more sweet lavender but with the addition of patchouli, some woody notes (sandalwood)and a bit of spices (maybe pepper). This prominent "sandalwood-lavender-patchouli" triumvirate is very pleasant and classy and stays a long way (5-6 hours).
In the drydown (after 6 hours), the lavender fades almost completely and you got a beautiful, creamy and seductive base of amber, sandalwood and more patchouli. This finale reminds me a little bit of the drydown of TL pour Lui by Ted Lapidus (same patchouli-sandalwood-amber but without the vanilla). Amazing end of this olfatory experience.
Recommended for night dinners or classy events. Not for clubbing because of the moderate projection.
Projection and sillage: Both moderate but charming.
Longevity: I get 8 plus hours.

First off Fragrantica need to get the perfume pyramid right because the main note in this scent is LAVENDER!
When I first but on this scent it seemed cloying put think I may have sprayed it too close to the skin. Second time it was much better. In summary this is a dark seductive, sweet, spicy, lavender scent. Initially the first couple of minutes I smell fresh mint and a touch of citrus orange.
After 15mins the the mint fades quickly and becomes more 'herbal' in the background. Then the scent quickly becomes spicy and sweet (but not gourmand) due to the cardamom and amber kicking in, which surrounds the main note of lavender. The lavender is a quality smell and with the patchouli gives it a slight 'muddy' vibe.
Towards the end the sensual and seductive spice of the cardamom and amber tail off to become a close comforting musk.
The main thing with this scent is that you keep wanting to sniff it so definitely draws you in!!(must be the same for the women) this is a very interesting scent which I neither love or hate but will definitely bring people in close as they will keep wanting to sniff you!
This one is cool!
There's no woody pattern in it but still seems perfect. From the beginning till its late vaporizing, presents an exaggerated mint, cardamom and patchouli pyramid scent which opens for a while with a little bit citric. This time fancy design and classic smell. Yeah, it can be the following story of 80's aromatic fragrances that used to be commonly warm, herbal and spicy like Caron Yatagan and Dior Fahrenheit. It's one of the links which connects modern perfumes to classic ones and still is on style.
It's warm and classy, seductive and highly herbal matured, gentle and masculine. I don't smell any feminine pattern.
I love its opening but not about dry down that much. It's OK but could be better. Of course I don't hate it, but not so on my style and I'm thinking about a similar one because I think I've smelt something like this before.... forget it!
It's so chic proper for men between 25~40. Maybe I buy it for that time! It's color, package, elegant bottle and its smell make it luxurious and it presents the smell a man should spread in a ceremonial party, specially Christmas night or Thanksgiving day but in public, bewitch the girls! Wish its longevity was better.
longevity 7/10
sillage 9/10
scent 8/10
First expression on this cologne was musculine scent..sweetness is on the side in this. but the dry down is the best part after wearing for couple of hours youll smell light sweet without the musculine smell.i love the bottle and the trigger of spray is very loose one burst of spray is alot. 2 spray is good enought for me..longevity and projection is good...but i still love it..
This is a fabulous scent for a confident, sensual man in his late 20s to late 30s.
It's spicy, mysterious, complex, slightly sweet and very sexy. It's not too powerful or projecting, but it lasts quite well on my skin. The wood and spice give it a strong masculine edge, but the mild fruity sweetness and lavender round out the fragrance with a feminine flare. I believe that play between the two is what suggests sensuality in this fragrance.
As has been mentioned, it's decidedly best as an evening fragrance, and I can highly recommended the deodorant to accompany it.
It's a really nice addition to your collection, boys.
Also, it has to be said that the bottle is badass.
Hypnôse is so underrated! Each time that I wear it I get loads of compliments. It's perfect for a night out. It's sweet, woody, smooth, musky and elegant. If you don't like sweet scents, pass on this one. However, if you like sweet scents, you need to own this! I would recommend to the 25 and up crowd, but could really be pulled off by anyone confident enough.
Hypnose Homme definitely has the Roucel's hallmark (bitter-sweet / sweet-sweet / warm-fresh / musky drydown). The problem is that it's like he has axplained his "vision" to a young, clumsy and inexpert apprentice in charge of composing this fragrance. I love Mourice Roucel but this time he failed! Crude!
Rating: 5/10
dawgs...
it is still a secret scent for the clubs...
USE IT !
If you dont want to join the bandwagen of 1 million, The One, Ysl and others- this is it !
and this one blows them all away..... I cannot recommend it enough ! Blind buy and go for it !
This is pretty nice.
It's elegant, sharp, bitter and smooth at the same time.
Mysterious
It almost gives me a coco-nutty feel, without smelling just like it.
Fancy bottle + great adverts (fancy actor) = Hypnose by Lancome
Smell? for that price? Are you serious?
2/10
It is very strong and complicated. It fits my personality[I'm not strong, but I'm comlicated ;)]. The smell can not be ignored. I've recieved compliments, but I've heard the strength can bother some people. Just be wise and find a good situation for wearing it. I've worn it at nights and parties. Overall I like it alot, and while colognes don't usually last a long time on my skin, this does.
I have to disagree with the age group opinions ... I'm 20 years old and I love this cologne.
I really like it, it's very complex and rich. But unfortunatelly it feels like an "older" fragrance (30 +). So it doesn't fit me that well (i'm 23). Actually i'm looking for some perfume as powerful and strong as Hypnose without being so overwhelming as 212 Sexy or One Million (something that works at a club). Sugestions?
I am not sure what to think about this one yet, but I don't hate it for sure. To me, it's sweet and slightly fruity, but it's not fruity sweet. I don't know. Its sweetness is like Le Male, Rochas Man, or 212. I don't smell anything minty here but I get some spices. It definitely has an oriental/earthy feel. It's sensual and taste-specific scent and could be good for date night or any special occasion.
Refined and mature frag for older guys, combination of dior fahrenheit and ysl body kouros. Very good product from lancome.
Great opening, sweet fragrant for all days and night but it's longevity is a problem. So, it is suitable for parties, not for office
As a general lover of sweet and woodsy fragrance, this fragrance does not sit well with my chemistry. It is very cloying on me and stinks to high heaven with two sprays. It is too sweet on me and almost floral with heavy lavender scent.
I gave this away to my dad and it smells great on him.
This is absolutely sexy when i smelt it. Les just say that if my man wore this...OW!
Hi.
This is one of my favorite fragrances.
Hypnose is really seductive and sweet.
This scent is great for classic man.the bottle is very elegant too and longevity and sillage is good for me but not unique!
8/10
Excelent perfume. Love it in the instant I smelled it. Very sweet fragrance.
if you can't stand Le Male or 212 Sexy, Hypnose is a nice alternative and won't intoxicate the ones around you or choke you for that matter! 2 thumbs up!
This fragrance pretends to be a classic: One must admit that the nice design of the bottle, the name as well as the first impression of the scent itself make you wonder whether this has been around for years already.
But after a couple of minutes things go down. This is no classic, but rather an uninspired copy of Calvin Klein's Obsession. Considering that it comes 20 years late, this one ultimately loses favour in every respect.
Girl at Duty Free Counter made me buy this after i had sampled many. Never really got my nose around this one and did not know what to expect. First time I wore it I had people asking me what i was wearing. Initial and Second notes are great but the dry down is simply fantastic. Lasts a long time. Great during Winter months, even better during summer.
An unimaginative name and a bottle design that, one guesses, was meant as traditional-cum-subversive' . . .
This is as elegant as wearing a tuxedo to a supermarket.
The kind of smell that hypnotizes. why? because of its mystery and charm. It's sexy and stylish, it's cuddling and exciting at the same time. I feel powerful and overtaken at the same time when I'm wearing this.
da bomb!!!!!!!!!!!! i had gave a bottle of this to my dad & initially he wasnt feeling it at first, but the drydown kicked in and it caught him up! a cool bottle also.
A nicely-tailored, warm fragrance - similar to many others, & yet distinctive. Refined, smart & well-blended - as Perfumaniac says "soft yet bracing". This, indeed, makes it very metrosexual (spot on, Chatnoir) & yet assured.
Incredibly warm & smooth, the citrus notes are fleeting leaving only a delicate squeeze of weak orange juice behind. The patchouli is tame, the cardamom is sweetened by vanilla & the rest of the amber-blend is very herbal (but not at all in a green-herbal way...all the corners are rounded off & buffed to a rich shine here).
I also get a scent-impression of the best quality leather, it mixes so well with the warmth of my skin that it is almost like my body's own animal scent. I imagine this would be very inviting on a man.
Good sillage & lasting power with a woody-amber dry down. Delicious! A winter treat.
It would make a great gift fragrance as I can't see anyone having an aversion to it: understated, but not to be underestimated.
It is the most mysterious smell i have ever met. I dont know if i like it or not, but cant stop myself smelling my wrist. It is very well refined that i cant distinguish any of the ingredients, i smell only the whole composition.
Very good sillage and long lasting.
Somehow reminds me lolita lempicka au masculin and antidote by viktor & rolf.
I think it really hypnoses.
I am Brasilian. This perfume is wonderful. Already the first time I used, I received several compliments. I have several scents, such as Jean Paul Guautier, Joop Homme, Versace Homme, Burberry London, Diesel Fuel for life, Usher, Eternity, Boucheron Pour Homme, but with certainty, Hypnôse Homme is one of the best. I recomend with praise! It is a sweet perfume in the right measure. Very masculine and super nice. Its setting is excellent. If you want to impress, use Hypnôse Homme.
Sou Brasileiro.
Patchouli! That's largely what I smell here. I think from a distance the patchouli would not be so noticeable, but lift it to your wrist and you'll be blown away by it. I must say though, that I am biased, as I don't care for patchouli. If you like it then you'll definitely like this because it's nicely put together.
theres something that i cant identify at all... but i can say is really attractive, sexy and not cloying.. for day or night is a choice and a hit.
The whole house was smelling on it before i even open the box - it' s oriental, spicy, warm, woody scent. I can't say i like it very much but i find it very suitable for a night out, for club.. It reminds me a bit to CH 212 Sexy man but this is more hypnotic, mysterious.
A much more complex scent than its notes would indicate. Spicy, woody, and truly hypnotic, I love this on my husband. It smells very "metro" and refined. I like that this works equally well dressed up or dressed down.
A musterious fragrance that evokes modernity and fascination with its luxurious and masculine packaging. A symbol of modernity and originality that will reveal your bewitching power of seduction! A musky amber sensuality as base notes, a green aromatic floral signature in the heart notes and a spicy green freshnesss head notes.
Constructed so as to deliberately mix the bracing yet soft effects of a fougere (bergamot, lavender, coumarin, geranium, oakmoss...) and the warm deeper effects of an oriental. The perfume has notes of mint, bergamot, calabrian mandarin, chinese cardamom seed, essence of provençal lavender, amber, musk, and essence of indonesian patchouli.
It reminds me of Fahrenheit in the beginning, although they belong to different groups.
And although Hypnose seems to be a far simpler fragrance, I like it much better.
It's sweet in the beginning, but in a 'smart' way. Definitely, the opening is more interesting than the heart and the drydown. It fades quickly, turning delicate and not so exceptional, but still very pleasant.
I think it can be worn as a day fragrance in autumn/winter season by a man who has a strong, dominant position at work/in a group.
I agree with afraafra that it's longevity isn't very good. But, overall, Hypnose is just charming!
great opening, very sweet, longevity might be a problem, very masculin reminds me of Givenchy Pi.
Not bad, similar to the women's version, sweet and woody
