Magie Noire, means ‘black magic’ in French, is a classic fragrance from the house of Lancome, launched in 1978. Magie Noir has a unique composition; which doesn’t follow the classical top note, middle note and base note development. It resembles a figure eight; it opens and fully revelas its character while the direction of its development suddenly changes, it stars to move in reverse direction. in which the fully revealed fragrance curves into a surprising change, reverses direction, so that the it would go back to where it started. It is one of the most bewitching oriental fragrances. This exoctic bouquet starts with Bulgarian rose blackcurrant buds. Its heart the jasmine flame burns blended with ylang-ylang, amber and incense. Magie Noire was launched in 1978. The nose behind this fragrance is Gerard Goupy.

As a girl in the 1980s I thought this was such a glamorous, sexy scent -- truly magical. For the sake of nostalgia, I gave it a sniff the other day in my local department store. The scent was reformulated some years ago and (in my view) to horrid effect: the initial smell was acrid and unpleasant, and it was only after a good thirty minutes that any familiar warmth and softness came through. I enjoyed smelling the lingering tones of the original middle and base notes, but was very disappointed with this vulgar reformulation.

I have a friend that wears it almost 30 years and is still an absolute fan of it. for me it is too strong,rather male fragrance, smells repulsive a lot of black pepper and soap. very unusual, probably unique.it not the one for me.

Much too strong for me. Even just a single spritz on the wrist made me a little sick to my stomach. No thanks.

A classical very, very elegant scent for an independent, strong woman. Most people that have come accross this say it's suitable for special occasions, which I agree; but I can imagine wearing it even during normal day.

Very strong. Doesn't smell very good on me, but smells warm, mysterious, and exotic with the right chemistry.
