Sometimes my olfactory senses get a hankering for something boundlessly sweet and nothing else will satisfy them.
Well, there's no denying that Laura Mercier's interpretation of this French culinary classic definitely fits that description, but it's also very lovely. And it definitely satiates my cravings for the sweet scents.
Crème Brûlée opens up with a burnt sugar and caramel note that remains throughout the (all too short) life of this fragrance. It's fairly linear without much development but that doesn't matter because it smells delectably delicious from start to finish. It's pure, rich, decadent caramel...a sinful dessert in a bottle. And without the calories!
Although I get a good amount of projection from it, the lasting power on my skin is pretty average. But it's so sweet that it's probably best in small doses anyway! This really is a scent only for hardcore gourmand lovers.
Nevertheless it's one of my favorites from the Eau Gourmande line.
It's not so much creme brulee as it is creme brulee-flavored candy or a chewy milk caramel you find at the register of a Walgreen's. It smells REALLY good, but longevity is poor. I could not smell any trace after 15 minutes of applying it.
I want this very much but it is not for sale in the Netherlands. Is somebody interested in swapping? I have a new bottle Keora Jean Couturier for women 100 ml. I like to hear from you! Greetings Elizabeth
This really does smell like creme brulee. I've eaten it several times and that bland custardy cream with the crunchy burnt top has that smell laura did an amazing job capturing. It's yummy and interesting but the burnt part of it makes it just a bit too sharp for me. Has a synthetic-ness to it.
Smells very sweet, like liquid caramel at first which is lovely. However, after a few minutes a coffee aroma comes through which is somewhat disappointing (don't like coffee) and surprising (as these notes aren't mentioned). If only it stayed caramel like and skipped the coffee!
The love of perfume for me is about choosing something to match my mood, colors I'm wearing, the event, a whim...this may not be the most sophisticated perfume, but who can be offended by the smell of a pastry shop in the elevator? It doesn't knock you over with its scent and it's perfect for cuddling by the fire, wine tasting, even a day at the beach. Anywhere you wouldn't mind having a sweet is where you can wear this and know everyone is wondering what smells so sweet and delicious.
This is horrible ..seriously don't waste your money on this perfume unless you would want to smell like a cinnamon roll
Smells like cheap Demeter fragrances or liquid for potpurri vanilla from Dollar tree :), it's maybe for kids, mine of 3yrs said: no thanks mama, it's too sweet! hahahah :D mini me :)
Just received my Laura Mercier samples. And OMG!!! This one is SO SWEET!! I feel as if I spilled caramel on my hand..Makes my hunger devil wake up..It really smells edible! It almost smells like a burnt sugar..
I wanted to buy this one, but now I am not sure. I love that smell, I really do, but I cannot imagine myself smelling like this..Maybe I will buy the smallest bottle possible because I LOVE IT! But as for caramel perfumes, I will always love Omnia Profumo Madera the most!
WAY TOO RICH. Smells like a yankee candle, mixed with egg whites, overly sweet condensed milk, soured milk, and baby formula. I love gourmands, but this is a bit over the top.
I'm not a vanilla fan at all in perfume - it gives me raging headaches. But I DO like how it smells in real life (I add tons of it to my baking). So this perfume is lovely to me only in passing, I couldn't wear it.
However, for whatever reason - some strange chemical reaction or something - I DO love the matching Honey Bath and Body Souffle! No headaches, just vanilla-laced creme brulee / caramel goodness!!
So if you're like me and you like the smell of vanilla but can't wear fumes with vanilla as a basenote - or you find this one too cloyingly sweet - try the Honey Bath and/or Souffle.
I've rarely met an oriental vanilla fragrance I didn't love. And this one is no exception. It is absolutely gorgeous on me which is saying s lot because most scents that do well on others are awful on me due to my strange body chemistry. This one smells just as described- like creme brûlée and also like being in a bakery while pastries are being freshly baked. I do sometimes get the burnt coffee smell that others describe - but here's the odd thing - it depends on the time of day and on how much of it I put on. And I don't even mind the burnt coffee smell! I get nonstop compliments when I wear this one. The only problem w/ it is that it is most definitely a warm winter scent - so now what am I going to wear?! Do try it if you like gourmand ( but not TOO gourmand-y) or vanilla or oriental fragrances.
I tried this one on with a few friends. Well it smells great on my friend but on me. It does actually smell rather fruity but in a weird way. Then later it starts to smell like burnt sugar. Nice... But on the other hand on my friend it smelled like sweet creme brulee from a french bakery.
I thought I had made a mistake and sprayed a house fragrance from the counter, but no - this is supposed to be a real perfume. It's so sweet I've never smelled anything like this before. It's a scent of a caramel cake and gave me a headache. I can't imagine a person who would wear this.
So eatable!I like it!
now i know what it smells like....brazillian nut butter from the Body Shop. meh...i'd rather buy the butter.
i really wanted to love this one, but it smells very nutty on me. the coffee smell is nice, but the nuttiness is not my cup of tea. oh well.
