Magnifico Laura Tonatto for women

This belongs to citrus group with an aquatic touch and can't be classed as oriental vanilla even by mistake. IMHO

It starts off as if a fresh lemon has been squeezed. And having said that, I can count Magnifico as clean and refreshing summer scent. Just for 10 - 15 minutes, still refreshing though, the lemon note is now a bit sweet and this is due to licorice as licorice is too sweet to smell but here the lemon note manages to balance it.And of fig, I have eaten fig ice-cream just yesterday so can say that it is very light here. I cannot pick lavender and talking of myrrh, haven't smelled it so not much words here. In the dry down, it turns very soapy as if you have just taken a shower with a lemon smelling soap that has been laid on sandal base. This soapy feel reminds me the summer soap which was presented to me years ago.

It is more unisex and if you want to enjoy it more than layer it with some floral notes for females and for males, layer it with some woody (vetiver being with a generous hand) and spicy fragrance. That's how male citrus fragrances are best distinguished with female citruses. And if you are not that picky then enjoy it all alone as I do.

My over all opinion about Magnifico is that one would love to wear it in summer but the season is not such a restriction for citruses. I love the aroma of squeezed lemon and that's how it smells in the top and the heart. Longevity is very good 6+ hours.

Laura Tonatto is the very talented nose behind the beautiful, Summery Carthusia creations. I thought it would be worth ordering a sample of a fragrance from her own line of scents, and the so-called oriental vanilla, Magnifico caught my eye.

Well, this is not an oriental vanilla, in fact there's no vanilla in this at all. It's crisp, green and sparkling with notes of citrus, zesty fig and aromatic lavender.

Honestly, Magnifico smells like it should be marketed towards men and not women. I am very open-minded when it comes to scents, but I doubt that I would wear this by choice as a woman. For the first twenty or so minutes, Magnifico smells like cheap aftershave.

There is a very distinguishable watery, aromatic feel to this fragrance, which of course suits the hot weather I am, at this present time, experiencing on my side of the globe. The lavender stands out quite prominently on my skin, with a rather masculine feel. The licorice and myrrh add a different aspect to this fragrance as it transcends into the drydown, however it's not enough to cancel out the crispness that this fragrance has already established.

I wouldn't turn to this fragrance for the perfect fig, seeming that the fig note isn't all that enticing. I just can't seem to get past the odd aftershave smell, which smells a little like Oscar for Men by Oscar de la Renta.
