The exotic scents of Polynesia are captured by this wonderful fragrance – the sun, the wind, the caressing flowers… Manoumalia features the notes of fragrea (perfume flower tree, ten cent flower or Pua Kenikeni), vetiver, tiare, sandalwood, sawdust, ylang-ylang and amber.

Available as 50 ml EDP. The nose behind this fragrance is Sandrine Videault.

this reminds me of Montale's Intense Tiare but smells more natural to my nose. If you like blooming big fleshy tropical flowers - this is for you! :)

Very, very rich ylang ylang at the opening, with extreme warmness of spicy sandalwood is what welcomes me when I first apply this perfume.
The scent itself is very, very sweet and rich, almost feel oily to my skin. Is is extremely powerful stuff and should be applied with light hand.
It's very hard to describe this as it it's very complex. It might even be one of the richest perfumes I have ever smelled, it's so warm, rich, oily, buttery that I'm extremely impressed. The best part is that it has this amazing natural quality as well.
My relationships with ylang ylang and sandalwood are not VERY good, but I somehow enjoy this very much.

And I must say, if you do love ylang ylang and sandalwood which dominates here the most, you just MUST give this a try. It's like a cozy, warm blanket.

This is a powdery, dirt-y (as in soil from the vetiver) and ambery version of L'Artisan's Tubereuse (original) with an otherworldly nature making it a lush and thorough composition. Although I am not an amber or vetiver fan, I must say this is very pretty and quite interesting. It alternates between tropically sweet and humidly resinious. If you like amber, sandalwood, and vetiver, you will probably LOVE this!

For the record, white florals and tropical blends are usually a total " no go" on my skin; often oversweet, overripe and quick to "wilt", I've long steered clear of anything described as an "Island" or "Vacation" fragrance. But this quirky masterpiece of a blend really grew on me; it opens with that lush blast of buttery sweetness typical of island blooms. The clove-lily sweetness of ylang-ylang is immediately evident and sooned joined by a waxy-fresh, but carnal gardenia that smells just like Tiare should; gardenia blooms mashed into coconut fat and left to steep into a mush in hot, island sunshine. Just as the Tiare and ylang are in danger of entering dusky, vintage floral territory (where chilled lilies smell of funeral homes and the gardenias resemble dried corsages and wedding bouquets, those tucked-away with more than a hint of melancholy wistfulness) the smoky buzz of burning sandalwood enters, quickly freshened by a reedy, dewy vetiver; the singed sandal then feels almost soaked by an astringent, turpentine-like oiliness, reminding me of treatments painted on wooden boats, those meant to protect them from potential shipworm and weather damage. The greens in "Manoumalia" balance the oily-buttery creaminess of the lead florals, but never feel sanitized or overly mossy; the strongly vegetal vetiver, warms and cools throughout the blend, as if showcasing the contrast of sunshine-scorched tree tops against the humid but cool, underbelly of the trees and growth, also including the bark chips and soil beneath that same dense, island canopy. "Manoumalia" is, simply put, just gorgeous--so distinctive and interesting. And I certainly had no intention, whatsoever, of giving it a chance. I was convinced I could never wear this kind of bold, lush, island floral. Talk about surprises, premature judgments and the smashing of expectation--this fragrance was so fascinating, exciting, organic and carnal, that it haunted me for months before I caved in to purchase it. I just couldn't turn my nose away and I have a feeling that "Manoumalia"--however initially intrusive or unusual it may seem to others--leaves the same kind of memorable distinction in everyone I've encountered while wearing it. It's full of story and personality and this is a real tale of "fragrance true love" or a "Holy Grail" blend; despite all odds and my tendency toward "type", IT chose ME--and when I least expected it. Wish you the same luck with it :)!
