Un Zephir de Rose Les Parfums de Rosine for women

Upon opening Zephir de Rose is a little spicy, it’s full of life and energy. The rose here is by no means old-fashioned, it has punch and personality. There is slightly herbaceous bite that comes from basil in the top notes, it creates a feeling of greenness and the fresh, outdoor air. There’s something very cooling and almost mint-like about Zephir de Rose, I credit this to the inclusion of an 'anise' note.

Don’t be frightened of the anise, there is nothing licorice-y about Zephir de Rose. In fact this scent is so far from the sweet, stickiness of many other anise or licorice scents that you cannot even compare them. Here, the anise is much more crisp and dewy than you might expect. Rose and anise might seem to be an unlikely pair, as anise generally runs more to the gourmand style (such as in Lolita Lempicka) yet here the note is not as prominent. Truthfully, you might not even know exactly what was creating the chilly sensation without reading the notes. Francois Robert has created this captivating crispness, like a cool breeze working its way through a rose garden, in Zephir de Rose.

Once the opening has worn off the initial spiciness that I detected has vanished, replaced by a plush red rose. It blooms on the skin and stays bright throughout the wear. That’s one thing that I can say about the LPdR fragrances, the rose notes are always incredibly realistic and plush.

The lasting power on Zephir de Rose is good, it stays richly on the skin for several hours. Eventually it takes on a slightly musky feel with just a hint of powder, but it retains its rosy glow until the very end. Another winner from LPdR

An absolute beauty, very light and natural smelling. Fresh, delicious basil, with a honey undertone, and fresh pink roses, without any anise. At least not on my skin, luckily. It's a windy breeze, that went through blooming roses and basil plants and brought the sweetness and coolness with it. Absolutely refreshing and perfect. Sadly the lasting power and silage are very delicate. Still lovely for summer time. I don't understand the bad reviews. I have tested the entire Rosine line, and this is one of my favorites. A true delicacy, very original and unique; if it was stronger, I would give it a perfect 10, but they diluted a but too much...Still this remains my absolute favorite from Rosine line, I just adore it.

I gave this 8/10 on my P de R scale for being a very clever fragrance, it really does smell like roses surrounded by a herb garden with a cool breeze blowing, though it is rather too impersonal for my taste. I can see that it's nice for an outdoor, day in the country kind of use.

The basil is the dominating note on the first whiff, thus the herbal scent. But I guess it must be my body chemistry as the basil scent didn't last very long. The anise and rose scents start to take over, but then just as suddenly, the smell disappears in my skin altogether. Depending how the scent reacts to your body chemistry, it can be a rather nice light scent.

Oh, this is most peculiar! It doesn't smell floral at all to me - just herbal (must be the basil) and in some way chemical/synthetic. I usually like anise as a note, but I can't detect it here. I find this one unpleasant and had to wash it off quickly.
