Palio means both ‘winner’ and ‘prize’ in Italian, and the composition’s name is directly related to the city’s famous horse racing event, Palio di Siena.

Palio is a fragrance full of adrenalin, rife with emotions, filled with the happiness of winning. Palio possesses a southern temperament and, of course, it glorifies tradition, steeped in history, but very much alive after all these years. Lorenzo himself describes his perfume as a certain "memory recall".

The rich woody fragrance takes you in its tender yet confident arms and right away you can feel something truly eternal and yet very familiar in its intricate bouquet. The composition remains true to character all the way to the final note, yet it instantly catches your attention with originality and the harmonious balance of its notes, which together make up a classic bouquet of an admirably collected calmness.

Flowers (an oily droplet of rose, forming a beautiful trio with lily-of-the-valley and jasmine) are highlighted by sunny citrus and pineapple notes and further softened by patchouli and warm sandalwood. Later, musk enters the scene to entice us with its velvety touch and the fragrance transforms into an oriental, becomes warmer and more vibrant. Women’s expectations from men are typically pretty conservative and Palio doesn’t disappoint us here, acting like a real seducer with experience: making you wonder, enveloping you, lulling you with its tender flowers and the softness of it woody notes. However, not once does it make us doubt its true masculinity. Italiano vero. Palio is a new fragrance and it was introduced in 2008.

The opening is quite potent, with a dominant benzoic ivy accord .A very subtle pineapple note sweetens matters, and it probably needs this assistance to avoid the top notes being excessively harsh. In fairness, this slightly synthetic opening is brief, and within a few minutes the fragrance begins to sweeten in a more natural way.Star jasmine and muguet create an aromatic almond accord not unlike tuberose, and the additional heart notes of iced lavender and rose, merely support and never intrude. This middle phase lasts a couple of hours, and it is during this time that one can regard Palio as being in full bloom. One senses that any sweetness has been achieved through more natural means, and it is this phase that pleased me the most. The dry down remains nectarous, but the almond accord has receded considerably. A warm and fairly subtle base, allows the last vestiges of the heart notes to dissipate slowly, and extends the life of the fragrance. I am not an ardent fan of sweet fragrances, but this was a pleasant surprise.

Oh yes, we got Palio today! Delightful!

There definitely is some retro vibe going on with this. The opening is very classic; cologne like with citrus, some fruit and perhaps some green herbs (have to take this again to really catch it all).

But then it starts to reveal its true nature! The fruit and the greenness gradually vanish. Lavendar, soapy and medicinal aromas are strong on the sillage - but the skin scent is surprisingly different with soft musky aroma accompanied with some sweetness and gentle woods. Very pleasant, relatively strong but not intimidating. And yes, very masculine, but not in the most obvious way!

I'll bet that this mixes beautifully with the scent of leather and gasoline - and does not attack against your senses in the dinner table.

I like Palio too. It's unusual, and vintage, very strong, floral, woody and balmy, a little bit sweet, but not too much, balmy sweet, and vintage floral ;o)

For men, not for boys, Baldessarini's moto is about this fragrance ;o).

I have this rare niche parfum.
It's extremally hard to find in Brazil, too much expensive!
Well... this one begin very refresh, citric and classy. Very usual, however.
A aromatic coquetel of tropical fruits...

But, it got a few tricks up its sleeves...
Wait, and the magic dry-down comes.
Lavender and some floral notes here... but powdery and soapy rules!
Very very vintage and addictive.
Could be the male version of vintage Je reviens-Worth.
There's a cumplicity in both...
Pure nostalgia...!
