until now only a top note of nutmeg and
after sage,
very soft and a little powdery,
maybe mint and eucalyptus to refresh and a shadow of cinnamon.
natural never synthetic
not bad but not interesting
If I were judging Spezie on the top notes alone, I would be offering a revolver to the person responsible, and suggesting they do the decent thing. It really is an egregious phase, and bordering on the unbearable. I can only attempt at conjuring up the olfactory effect by comparing it to a blend of new faux leather and the close proximity of a fishmonger’s apron.
Remarkably, the middle and late stages of Spezie are as wonderful as the early parts are awful. Warm, spicy and extremely comforting, it is absolutely everything I would expect from an oriental , and more.
At its best, it is by far my favourite Villoresi fragrance, at its worst, I feel like walking into the ocean.
This is very herbal indeed! Beautifully fresh, aromatic and bright. Very distinctive and not a common scent - you won't find many other people wearing it. I love it but it's just a little too herbal for my tastes so I no longer actually wear it.
Incensi’s brother lives in the forests, garbed in dry herbs. While his sibling loves old cloisters and churches he is rarely seen near towns or edifices. You may rarely spie him near a farmer's garden and he is said to spend time at the old healer woman's on the edge of the village, who is rumoured to be a witch. Yet, brothers they are, as even a stranger would easily recognize at a glance.
This is a fresh and intoxicating burst (some may say overload) of herbs, spices and all things green, very mediterranian and very rich. A bit like a collage of nature's every little marvel that we associate with the Tuscan countryside. I don't know of any fragrance that smells even a bit similar to this. It had me at first sniff.
The profusion of spices and herbs is Villoresi's trademark and I don't always like the outcome. This, however, is brilliant. Personally, I think it's one of his best. It's unisex (a bit on the masculine side maybe), very intense and long-lasting. A must for Italy fans!
