A Byronesque fragrance; you could imagine it worn by dissolute young men staying up late to write passionate poetry.
Imagine a Venetian palace decorated with purple velvet and gold picture frames, the darkness and candles, the scent of mystical myrrh and a light note of orange blossom around you.
The composition holds the notes of: orange blossom, myrrh, bergamot oil, sandalwood and mandarin.
It is available as 45 ml EDP.
This is the deep, dark and extremely naughty 'goth' scent that I've been hankering after all my life. This smells like a niche offering rather than a Lush product at a reasonable cost. This is rich beyond belief, and heady with a big note of a civet like substance in the base, making it dirty and clean-earthy. It has a nice slight sweetness which is more a hum than a shout of 'feminine!'. To be worn for intimate moments and rituals, if you have any....Wow. Thanks Mark and Simon Constantine!
I didn't know what to think of this perfume at first. Yet after a couple of wearings, Lush Icon has become a guilty pleasure.
It's a powerful fragrance, there's no denying it. It smelt like antispectic disinfectant at first, strong pine and citrus. It was an intense olfactory experience, but once settled there's something very likable about Icon.
I get mostly honeyed and woodsy incense with subtle hints of zesty citrus. In some ways it's quite a masculine fragrance, so with that in mind, I'd label Icon as being a unisex fragrance. The myrrh is somewhat of an acquired taste in Icon, being rather sweet and resinous. Although extremely rich and sometimes a little overbearing, I can't help loving Icon, particularly during this cold, rainy weather I'm currently experiencing at present time.
Icon is not necessarily a churchy incense fragrance, instead it's a dark and resinous interpretation. I like this fragrance because it's unusual and intense, however for some it may be a little too much.
Icon lasts quite well, however I expected it to be a lot longer lasting to be honest. I'm talking in terms of lasting a whole day. All in all, a very alluring and mysterious fragrance that does grow on you, that is if it doesn't captivate you at first sniff.
This isn't just for the ladies..
I prefer rich spicy/woody/resin filled scents like Gucci Pour Homme, YSL's M7, Dirty English, Michael by Michael Kors, Tommy Bahama (the first scent offered in the amber/brown bottle)...as well as older scent-bomb standards like Montana Parfum d'Homme and VIP Special Reserve by Giorgio Beverly Hills.
'ICON' is a very simple blend, but more that holds it's own with any scent that I've listed above.
Only one major caveat with 'ICON':- before you get dressed, hold the bottle as far as possible over your head and spray ONLY ONCE!!!!!Even one spritz will stay with you and all around you for MANY hours.
Just be prepared to have random people follow/stop you and ask what you're wearing.
I have an unhappy history with Lush perfumes - I want to like them and I usually don't. Icon is the exception. It comes on with a bitter citrus-oil hit, reminiscent of a very good candied grapefruit peel where the sugar mellows but does not dominate. Then the neroli washes over, supported, I think, by the mandarin which seems to flesh it out without undermining the essential floral quality. Normally I like my nerolis to scintillate, but this one glows warmly until the sandalwood comes through to take it along to a slow, warm, elegant drydown enriched with myrrh. I don't know about Byron, but I like it. It has a curious archaic flavour to me, like a breath from the ancient world. Self-esteem in a bottle.
Very poetic, deep purple, satiny scent- gothic and dreamy with earthy myrrh and bergamot. Dark, rich and unusual. This sort of fragrance is not made to be popular but it is a must to sniff for all who seek shelter from the celebrity fragrance hell.
this is me ALL TIME FAVORITE perfume; I absolutely concur with the Lush summation of it as Byronesque. It's orangey (but not in a cheap teen way like Karma), exotic, lovely
