The name of the perfume Eau de Camelia Chinois has been changed to Camelia Chinois. The fragrance is aromatic floral with dewy nuances of tea, grapefruit and bergamot. The heart is composed of Nulu balsam and basil above the sensual base of sandal and musk. Camelia Chinois was launched in 1997.

This smells of fabric softener but in a good way, I love soapy clean scents. A fresh green (somewhat bitter) start on a soft clean musk base. Long lasting for an "eau fraiche". Lovely!
Barney's La Route du Thé is very similar but Eau de Camélia Chinois is better IMHO.
I think Eau de Camélia Chinois started the trend of the fabric softener type of scents in the niche parfumerie. A style that was further developed a year later with AG's Petite Cherie and more recently in the compositions of Olivia Giacobetti and Francis Kurkdjian.

I can not agree with perfumeaddict.
This is one of the best "aquatic" scent I ever had. Very unique and sensual perfume appropriate for every season and occasion. Yes, I can agree that this is not complex perfume, but I dont care - I like it as it is (sometimes less is more)!
I also had Bvlgari , but it is totaly different interpretation of tea.
This is the best "everyday" scent for me!

"Camelia Chinois" is the French name for the tea plant, and this scent is quite a literal interpretation of tea. I had hoped for something more complex (Bvlgari has certainly done a lot with the tea note!) but this is really a rather unimaginative tea scent. But in addition to the lack of creativity, there is a sharp/sour note in Camelia Chinois that I find unpleasant.
Save the money you'd spend buying an MPG scent, and buy two or three Bvlgari tea scents instead.
