Sanguine Muskissime by Maitre Parfumeur et Gantier is a Citrus Aromatic fragrance for women and men. Sanguine Muskissime was launched in 1988. The nose behind this fragrance is Jean-Francois Laporte. Top notes are peach, blood orange and mandarin orange; middle notes are blood mandarin, jasmine, grapefruit and lemon; base notes are sandalwood and musk.

I assume that “sanguine” refers to blood orange, since there’s an orange note that’s quite obvious. The rest, however, seems dry and musty at first rather than musky, but the musk does develop. After a half hour or so, the orange disappears and it evolves into a strong musk that reminds me of wet dog and/or a dog kennel. It’s certainly interesting. The dog phase lasts for 3-4 hours or so, with a fair amount of sillage. In the end, the whole thing dries down to a plain white musk skin scent. I’m undecided as to whether I like or dislike this one. It’s not your run-of-the-mill clean musk scent, although it does eventually end up there.
