Marc Jacobs presents a new collection of refreshing colognes of the Splash series, inspired by juicy cocktail drinks. Cocktail Splash Collection, limited to summer 2011, features three fresh tropical fragrances: Curacao, Ginger and Cranberry.
Curacao, signed by perfumer Yann Vasnier, is a refreshing and vibrant watery sweet smell of summer and exotic tropical paradise. It opens with citrus notes of lime and bloos orange. The heart notes of violet, apricot and pear are laid on the base of white musk and moss.
It is available as 300 ml eau de cologne.

I am a fan of MJ Splashes, as of yet I have failed to meet one that I did not enjoy in one way or another. That said, although this is a fun and lighthearted scent it doesn’t really evolve past that for me. It is not a long lasting scent but the blast it provides upon spritzing certainly is invigorating. It wakes up my senses and makes me yearn for lying by the pool, it is pure summer. Wouldn’t buy again but I am going to enjoy every last spray of the HUGE bottle.
I found this at T.J Max , it's fresh and watery at first , very refreshing.
I don't smell violets or pears though, only lemon and I can't wait to douse myself after my shower and go to bed. I'm glad it's not overpowering, cause I change perfume all the time and I don't want to smell the same one for days.
I prefer this to Pomegranate , which ended up in my laundry room .
I find Curacao a very nice fragrance, suitable for every day and every occasion. Nothing special or unique, but nice and pleasant. The opening is fresh and energising, lime is very present. The scent gets sweeter and softer very quick and stays rather linear from that moment on. Soft/lightly flowery, sweet-fruity and somewhat musky. I like it!
You can spray almost without limits since this fragrance is very hard to overdose. The lastingpower is average and the scent stays very close to the skin.
I had high hopes for this one, but no such luck. It's the first from the Marc Jacobs Splash range that I can't really praise. As soon as I sprayed it I got a blast of cucumber, and for anyone who knows it, it smells exactly like Boots Cucumber Face Cleanser. As it fades I get a little bit of the light fruity sweetness of pear and a bit of musk, but that's it really. The opening kills it for me.
Opens with soft citrusy smells of lime and oranges.not sure how natural they are but as long as they dont cause me to sneeze.I swear even int the top notes I can smell the violets.they do however feature prominently after about 30 minutes and stay for hours even though they fade off eventually.
I dont however smell the other notes listed or maybe I dont really want to.there arent many changes to this fragrance.
I see it as an everyday, every season kind of fragrance that wont offend as it really stays close to the skin no matter the amount you sensibly would want to put on.
Got it at my local Debenhams along with a complementary 30ml atomizer which is handy as I cant see how I can carry this on my when am travelling.I guess the sense is as it doesnt project and cleary wont last all day u can re-apply every now and then-not sure I will carrying it about though.More so I got an enviable calvin klein travelling bag and umbrella to go with it-so all in all not a bad purchase as I was only interested in the bag though. It was the only reason I was going to part with £44 for this as there will be a lot cheaper EDT's that offer for more for the same notes I guess.
If you are looking for a strong,long-lasting fragrance then this isnt for you.will recommend for those looking for a soft, lighter citrus smell.a good one for outings when you're not sure of the sensitivities of the company you will be in.I will mostly use this at home as I find it quite refreshing and not obtrusive.
A 300ml will last me for years even though this is a splash and I still a little application will do without overly splashing
I'm not a massive fan of MJ's fragrances, and the giant splash collection kind of makes me wonder who might be able to use up 300 ml of scents that, although pleasant, remain flat and monotonous.
Marc Jacobs follows the same trail as Demeter and their Happy Hour Collection. So here we have, a massive bottle of a scent inspired by Curacao. BLue in colour, fresh-alcoholic-fruity combo is not intriguing or revolutionary. It just is. Looks pretty, smells all right. Not bad, not good. Maybe it is supposed to be a open swimming pool fragrance, you splash it, you live home, you reapply as you sip your drink (although hopefully you won't swim after having too many of those). It lingers somewhere in the background.
Curacao is a very casual scent, and maybe that's why I don't get it. For me even perfumes I wear daily need to have something special, and Curacao simply lacks it. It's nice though, just... well, it's gonna be a one time experience only.
