Charles Street by Mark Birley is a Woody Spicy fragrance for men. This is a new fragrance. Charles Street was launched in 2011. The nose behind this fragrance is Christian Pesch. Top notes are angelica, nutmeg, thyme, coffee and carrot seeds; middle notes are iris, jasmine, african orange flower, tuberose, saffron, rose, lily-of-the-valley and raspberry; base notes are patchouli, oak moss, amber, vanille and leather.

This is a very nice EDP, I love it. It's warm, masculine, classy, versatile, with the right amount of sweetness. To my nose it's basically leather and moss with light floral notes on top.
The only negative I can find is longevity; it lasts about 2-3 hours. I'd make an excellent signature fragrance.

Being the original Mark Birley For Men on of my favourite fragrance ever I was extremely curious about Charles Street and I've to admit that my high expectations have been almost fully satisfied.
An unique concoction of unsweetened coffee , sweet leather, nutmeg and floral patterns that's rich, elegant and very serious (formal?). Charles street opens very bitter with coffee and nutmeg while angelica add a slightly green aspect. Leather makes its appearance right away balancing the general austerity with some sweetness while floral patterns enrich this composition with sophisticated and refined details. The overall effect is extremely distinctive and original without being odd, rich but civilized. A perfect blend for anyone looking for a fragrance that is at the same time unique and extremely wearable. Mascuilne in a whole new way.
I still prefer the original Mark Birley For Men but, honestly, Charles Street is still highly recommended.
