Kadota Michael Storer for women and men

When is a fig a date? Well, it seems to be the case in Michael Storer KADOTA! Upon initially applying this perfume, I had no idea that it was supposed to be about figs and assumed that the name must have been intended metaphorically. It actually took me a couple of minutes to figure out what it reminded me of, and it was not figs, but chopped dates!

To my nose, KADOTA is a sweet, almost confectionary gourmand perfume with a seriously dominant date note. It evokes vague memories of Serge Lutens ARABIE, only minus the cumin and other spices. Here we have the fruitcake without the curry, so in some ways it's considerably more wearable to me. But it is quite sweet, when all is said and sniffed. The fig leaf and wood are very muted next to the dates, perhaps in part due to their relative weakness vis-à-vis the vast majority of other self-identified fig perfumes I've encountered.

KADOTA is unique and a nice change from the usual routine for those who like gourmand perfumes. Do try before you buy, and if you happen not to like dates, you'll want to steer clear.

Disappointing.This perfume is a synthetic concoction where I can smell plastic,celery,milk,fig and wood,but in a ugly way.
Kadota make me sick.
I have done some test on fabric,but the result is the same.
Try before buy,or stay away from it.

Siilage and longevity are medium.

This is vintage Ma Griffe incarnate, and every bit as deliciously milky green as the original.

Sweet dried figs, with a little accent of woodsy and green notes, fig leaf note is very-very light. I have 4-5 fig scents and no one is like that. A great collectible item for fig scent lovers. Lasting power is very good. Kadota is as well-blended as the other Michael Storer's scents are.
Reminds me a little of discontinued Fragonard's Dahlia.

I was surprised to find that what is supposed to be a fig scent smells nothing like figs, at least not initially. I suppose I shouldn’t be surprised since so many “fig” scents don’t smell like figs or, at best, smell like the waxy, dried version. Kadota starts out smelling like celery seed, celery leaves, fennel or tarragon, and chopped parsley, with a pinch of salt and something musky in the background. It’s definitely green, superbly green.

Once I got past the expectation of figs and was able to visualize the makings of a nice soup all chopped up and ready to go, minus the onions, I started enjoying the green vegetable nature of Kadota. After an hour or so the green subsides to reveal a dried fig and date scent along with something like freshly cut green grass topped of by a tiny hint of something slightly floral. As it dries down the dried fig scent becomes more prominent along with Michael Storer’s signature warm, caramel-like musky base.

There’s considerable sillage, and the scent lasts a full day on skin, longer on clothing. An eccentric perfume that I really don’t understand or relate to very well, but could certainly enjoy wearing from time to time in the same way that I enjoy its cousin, Caron Yatagan.

An absolutely wonderful fig based scent. It manages to make the fig woodsy green and clean and not drowning in sugar.A practically perfect summer scent. This is disctinctly unisex and the lasting power is marvelous at least 6-8 hours during the warm weather.

Nothing like it!

The most amazing figs fragrance I ever had. Dates, grass and the wild fig. In the base you can find woods, something dry and animal like. However I have hundreds of niche fragrances I never found anything even similar to this one. Highly recommended if you wish to have something special and different than mass-market or even most niche fragrances. Lasting power is also amazing. Really I love Kadota.
