A bizarre opening where you can smell everything,is followed by a pale Caraceni 1913 copy.
To me,raw materials seems third or fourth grade.
Not a bad perfume, but nor a good one.
Starts out extremely skanky with an overpowering amount of indole, civet, and probably some other musks. This monk must have been shoveling out the Augean stables on a hot day rather than meditating inside a cool incense-filled chapel.
It takes a good 45 minutes for the skank to die down enough to smell anything else, but when it does, what a treat! There really aren’t any noticeable flowers or incense, but there’s a warm, sweaty-sandalwood scent that I just adore. It may be the combination of sandalwood, ambrette and a trace of frankincense; whatever it is, it works wonders.
The sandalwood plus supporting notes lasts for several more hours, after which the composition dries down to a warm, resinous, slightly musky base. Up close, I smell a good quality benzoin. The musky ending sticks around for 8-10 hours on skin, much longer on clothing.
Monk is certainly an interesting and unique scent. It, along with Genvieve, is my favorite of this line. I doubt that everyone will enjoy it - in fact, I'm sure that not everyone will enjoy it - but I do. If you like offbeat fragrances and don’t mind starting off in the barnyard, it’s definitely worth sampling.
A mix of fruit an incense with soapy accent. tested on my husband anв on myself. I think it is unisex.
