It's not only roses and musk... it does have a great jasmine note and vanilla.
Sweet and bright roses with a great animalic note.
Not so heavy neither ethereal.
Better for women, but it's unisex in my opinion
It's like a watered down version of Mancera Roses Vanille.
Reminds me also of JHAG Lady Vengeance.
Sillage, lasting power and projection are great.
I have always been partial to rose and musk. This smells like fresh roses growing in the yard with a gentle breeze of musk. Nice and clean. Such a nice change from other rose fragrances that become muddled up with a lot of other scents and wears it down. I'm in love!
I'm not sure I can start talking about Roses Musk without getting tears falling down my face..
I'm sitting here, in front of a screen, I raise my scarf to smell the Roses..
That same fuchsia scarf was on my neck when I was once sitting all alone on a bench outside..
I will never forget that day.. I was so sad while a gentleman came close to give me a fresh-cut pink Rose.. he said "It matches your scarf miss"..
It was a cold November day, I was so lost in my world.. I just thanked him.
I never knew I loved Roses until that moment came.. You know.. That special moment when you think you are the ruler of the world but you suddenly realise that the world rules you..
That's exactly what Roses Musk is.. It's the ruler of my heart, my mind, my madness and my logic..
Roses Musk is delicate.. fragile.. it's a sensational whisper full of promises
...reflected in the enchanted lovers eyes...
Don't be fooled by it's vulnerable nature.. Roses Musk will seduce you tenderly while letting believe you are the seducer.. exactly like the soft jasmine notes wrap around the dew kissed roses..
They will caress you and you will feel like it's the first time you truly see the world...
Time will stop ticking.
You will raise your head and you will see for the first time the sun kissing your naked soul...
You will find both freedom and safety
I tried out this perfume in last September and wished to have it since. My friends reaction when we met was (after I put some on my wrists in a perfume shop)"wow, this smells really good and suits you". So I decided to buy it sooner or later and yesterday I did. I'm very happy with it, sillage is good, not offensively large and longevity on me is about 5-6 hours. I agree with those who wrote that it was a rather simple scent, nothing complicated. I find roses dominating on me at least, and though I'm a huge fan of musk, I would not describe this as a musky scent. I think it pleases mostly those who like lighter, sweeter scents, and it suits warmer (not too hot though) weather best.
Just by smelling the nozzle of my new little sample, Tresor midnight rose came to mind, but this is a softer, smoother more delicate musky and sexy scent and it isnt as peppery as Midnight rose is either,
I defenitely like this and would love to have a bottle in the near future !
I guess this appeals to a lot cause it is rather easygoing and feels natural with the musk in the background. On me the jasmine hardly shows at all.
From all lovely and positive reviews of this, this is also what I had expected nothing more , nothing less .....but Lovely !
Some roses are dowagers; others are jammy fruity florals; others are orientals. To my nose, Montale ROSES MUSK--at least the batch from which my sample was drawn--is really a masculine rose. Lots of ambergris (ambroxan, it seems) suffuses the rose petals of this composition. I also smell a blast of iso-E-super cedarishness in the opening, and it lingers throughout. There is more ambergris, I'd say, than musk, but the musk contributes no doubt as well to the overall effect of this perfume which pushes it all the way to unisex, and just a touch over the edge to the masculine side. I am quite sure that men could and would wear and enjoy this creation, if only they knew!
I actually feel a bit like a traitor saying this, given all of the glowing reviews, but ROSES MUSK does not settle down into a snuggly rose scent for quite some time, and even then the ambergris-musk base stays around throughout the entire duration of the wear. I read the reviews at a German fragrance community website, looking for some sort of affirmation of my perceptions, and I found that there were a couple of naysayers over there. So it seems to be true: to those who are sensitive to ambergris/ambroxan and musk, they really dominate this composition. Others may well (and apparently do) smell right through them to a heavenly rose.
I have enjoyed wearing two full milliliters of ROSES MUSK--a generous manufacturer's carded sample--and can report that the longevity and sillage of this creation are superb. However, I do not really consider this to be a rose perfume, as strange as that may sound. It's just that I've worn so many more rose-centric compositions that next to those, this one seems like a rose-tinted ambergris-musk perfume. There is something very animalic and altogether foreign to rose going on here.
In a word: ambergris.
Delicate rosy musk!
I wouldn't call this fragrance powdery. It's exactly musky. It doesn't smell dry. The rose note is not intensive, but quite charming.
I like this fragrance. This musk is very pleasant, erotic enough and attractive enough, but polite in the same time.
The most delicate Montale. Clean, ethereal, feminine. It reminds me a velvet pink rose. The musk gives the rose a carnal touch. To use and abuse .
Maybe I'm anosmic to some of the musk notes, or maybe this is "musk rose" (Rosa moschata) and there's not really musk to smell? I feel like I'm missing something with this scent. This is a pure, clean, rose soliflore, from what I can tell. I can't explain why, but it smells like a peachy-colored rose to me, (the Lady Emma Hamilton rose, perhaps?) It's very pretty, and very simple. The rose notes are rich, and cool, and this is completely beautiful.
Given to me as a gift and the only perfume I have ever owned which has made me physically throw up. Utterly nauseating.
Similar to Stella rose absolute very feminine and soft the only down part is the staying power. Stella is a stronger scent of rose and it last and last. Since I have Stella I will not be purchasing this one!
i hardly smell anything after 5 mins on a paper strip, the first blast is very green and harsh, not very pleasent for me, than it turns into very nice musk, and in a few minutes it is gone.
Gorgeous for the first hour, the musk then turned very sharp on my skin.
Try first!
i absolutely adore this! i could marinate in it... to me it's the epitome of the middle east, there's something so sensual and delicate about it. i get compliments every time i wear this... mmmmmm
On me this is a light fragrance with a predominant rose note and and an almost-noticeable (but just hidden away) bouquet of other floral notes supporting the rose. At first I couldn't detect the musk note, but now I think the musk is so subtle that I can pick it out but know that there is something which balances out the flowers. A very pleasant fragrance with low sillage and good longevity (5-6 hours).
j think it's the best of Montale
gee i have it on and its very light on me :-( sucha shame!
Same thing as to Cereza, this fragrance opened lovely and became very sour on me...
I'm somehow dissapointed in this one. It opened with a lovely rose and I felt that I might love this, but it changed and turned to this sour rose scent, which I cannot enjoy as much as I cold. I like that this has Montale touch to it (well, of course it has...), but this is not what I expected after the first moments of opening. Too bad, but I can easily understand all the hype about this. It's good. But not THAT good.
I adore this scent! In my opinion it's very similar to P.R. Black xs for him, which is my favourite men's fragrance, but it's still very feminine, special, rosy perfume. It's my favourite from Montale.
I am so disappointed. I spent months looking for a sample of this elusive gem. I finally found it and what do I discover? My own brain has committed an act of treachery!
Upon opening the roses are tangy, the jasmine is sweet and the musk...is invisible to my sometimes-musk-anosmic nose! I could have screamed in frustration!!!
Furthermore, the musk actually then *blocked* my rose and jasmine receptors as well so even though I could 'feel' something pretty I could not grasp it. Like sitting in the dark fondling the frame of a popular artisic masterpiece. I just KNOW I am missing out.
My roses musk is absolutly beautiful , I think the best of montale , it's a woman best seller in the middle east .
Voleur de Roses blend with Black XS pour homme.
I like it like almost Montale, but defenetely not the Pierre's best I have smell. Sweet like Black XS and wet roses like in Voleur de Roses. I think this one can be unisex for a man who is self confident.
All in all a pretty nice one but not a want it for myself.
edit: Maybe I will buy this one day. I can't choose the ones I WON'T BUY from all Montale!
for now this is my note but this will maybe change...
7/10
“A rose by any other name would smell as sweet?” Well, maybe not when it comes to the perfume industry and the innumerable interpretations of this flower.
There are some rose perfumes that are fairly abstract, and there are some that aim to be realistic. Make no mistake; Roses Musk is all about roses and not about abstractions! It is a medium-bodied, fairly sweet fragrance. It is not heavy, but it is not light and transparent, either. In fact, it has a texture that feels almost buttery. Unlike other roses, which sometimes could have a metallic bite or could be sharply green, Roses Musk doesn’t contain a trace of these qualities. No stems, green leaves, or thorns are present in its composition.
Imagine the most luscious rose flower that you have ever smelled. Its petals are bright pink, not red, yellow, or white. Now imagine that you have a large basket full of these flowers, and you, burying your head in the pink heart of the basket, are inhaling the soft, yet, rich aroma. Sometimes, musk notes could feel soapy in the dry-down, but I don’t find soapiness in this particular fragrance.
Like other Montale fragrance, this one is well-designed and fairly long lasting. I have found that it is better to wear it on days that are not extremely hot and humid. It just blossoms on the skin in drier climates. If you truly like roses, it is worth a try and, conversely, stay away if you don’t count the flower among your favorites.
I had sadly association with rose scent from my childhood. But it disappeared with this perfume breathe. Thanks to Montale!
This is lovely! Pure and delicate, these are soft spring or autumn roses, covered indeed in dew or frost. They are NOT fragrant roses oozing heavy aroma under the burning sun, these are etheral and watery indeed (what a great description, DaisyQ).It's lightly sweet and very "realistic", there is nothing syntetic in here.
Incidentally I have come across several interesting rose fragrances (and I thought that I wouldn't like roses!)and while Valentino's Rock&Rose does seem to be designed for a "rock chick", this one seems to be more romantic, dainty and almost innocent. Very, very nice.
Spoiled from testing Etat libre d'Orange, i had my shower for the night and applied this one, waiting for the scent journey to begin...Nice roses undertoned with musk, turned sickly sweet on my skin, musk barely detectible, and stayed like this for quite some hours, not changing, not revealing something different with the hours, nice, but not me......
Is the bottle pink or gold?
It reminds me of my only Lancome favorite "Mille and Une Roses" but this one is more intense and lasts longer. Lovely
I lust for this scent-this is the smell of the roses that wrap around the gate that hides some shangri-la....
This smells like baby roses fresh in the spring, gathered and covered with "musk" as light as dew, with the best rays of sun hitting my face, and the scrumptious sweetness of a jasmine from yards away carried on a whisper of a breeze. Rose yes, fresh in softness, but so tenderly sweet and reminiscent of petals-more than the aroma of blooming roses alone...
This is one of my favorite Montales for sure-so femme, so delicate, simple, intense, pretty, just stunning!
Stunning, dripping soft simplicity-with the vexing lasting power seems to follow such a utopian rosy musk.
It's worth it anyway.
Update:
Subtle, but lasts as long as you could expect such a delicate floral fragrance of top-quality to last. This is a goddess of roses, just as much as an olfactory painting of a utopian rose....
I am very surprised there aren't more reviews for this scent. It is, put simply, utterly fantastic. Evidently, this seems to be one of those great overlooked scents.
On my skin, it is a warm, ethereal, watery sueded rose scent that stays close to the skin. It is not your old-fashioned rose scent by any means, rather a rose that is freshly picked from the rosebush. Lasting power is quite good: it lasts about 8 hours on me before I need to re-apply. Truly an all-season scent, I could see myself reaching for this in the winter and summer.
My favorite Montale so far.
absolutely love this one... delicious... i will be buying a bottle one of these days... i am in love
Lovely rose scent! It's very soft and simple yet long-lasting and very high quality. Most Montale are very high quality and it would be great if I could find them more easily and cheaper!
I smell mostly fresh cut Eastern rose and only a tiny good musk.
This is not a very complex scent with lots of nuances and changes. It stays the same almost all the time and makes me feel feminine and confortable without the aggressive edge of many mainstreet fragrances but not banal or weak like many rose blends.
For people who are feminine inside.
Nice roses, very-very long lasting scent. Love it!
The roses are sharply fresh and light, not edible and not powdery smooth, as I thought before.
