The fragrance aims to enhance all the manifestations of male strength.
Available in Extrait de Parfum, 30 ml. The nose behind this fragrance is Alessandro Gualtieri.
This one is very difficult to read..
in some way it remember me the match between
borneo 1834--a patchouli hard and dark and
santa maria novella nostalgia --the mechanic's shop
so..patchouli rubber, tar,tires burning without smoke .
thick and solid.
never bitter never scratches but it's hard to keep on my wrist
not a relaxed parfum, far from sophisticated light scents but not cheap
results :headache, this is not for me
the mood I think is same as patchouli and oud of Le labo
and musk kublai khan of lutens(another kind of rubber although I like this )
masculine(according to the idea the men should enjoy aggressive macho fragrances)
wow, this is some strong stuff! one spray only. the price is high but you dont need that much so it lasts as much as a 100ml of edt or edp. its very masculine. woody, leather, and spice. projects like a monster and lasts forever, need to wash it off. you need to commit to wearing this because you cant wear anything else that day. i tried this and black afgano. i was not too impressed with black afgano but Duro is definetly bottle worthy for me. Pardon was pretty good too. im lucky i have a barneys near me to test these out. if you like strong masculine woody fragrances, duro is for you.
longevity 11111000000000!!!!!
This is supposed to be a big macho scent, and I can see (or rather smell) the rationale behind that. However, I have to say that I enjoy wearing it myself. There’s a lot of oud up front, there’s cedar, there’s a slightly soapy sandalwood, and there’s something a little bit spicy and green at first.
Duro is not at all sweet, and it isn’t the usual in-your-face synthetic-aquatic fougere-type “manly cologne”. It’s just dry, woody, and completely free of floral notes. It’s probably completely synthetic, but it smells very natural. I love the combination of oud with woods instead of the usual roses, spices, and saffron.
There’s a huge amount of sillage just from a tiny spray. The sillage phase lasts for a good 15-18 hours, and there’s still a skin scent present 24 hours later. On clothing it lingers until it’s washed, maybe even after. As the drydown progresses, the sandalwood becomes more and more dominant, although the herbal and oud notes never completely disappear. Almost 12 hours after applying it, a colleague at work commented (favorably) on the perfume I was wearing. I use such a light hand that this almost never happens, so that speaks for Duro’s strength.
I had blindly bought a 2-ml decant of this, knowing that I generally like Nasomatto perfumes, and am glad I did. It’s one that I will replace if I ever use up the decant. Duro is definitely not for everyone, but if you like oud and sandalwood, it’s definitely worth sampling.
Really good frag !!, I can smell some incense also, but maybe it is burned wood?
10/10
I have purchased duro last week... I must say so far I love it. I believe that any fragrance will have a different smell on each person that wears it. And despite all descriptions of this being such a "masculine" fragrance, on me it dries down as a soft, spicy scent. Just what I was looking for. In only 3 days of wearing it, I've received lots of compliments from both women and men.
I think Duro is actually much better than Black Afgano with its blast of woods, leather and spices. It's a very intense, loud and very masculine scent that you will surely dig if you love Montale's Aoud Musk. These two are very similar even if Duro is much more louder and synthetic. Pretty linear yet very well crafted. Has an incredible lasting power and sillage. I find this kind of fragrances very fascinating at first but you can get easily bored.
Rating: 6.5/10
I think this is unisex, but not for girls, mature women only, please. If you like this, you might also like Montale's Greyland. Both are intense and long lasting. Whenever I wear either one, an extra dab goes on the back of my hand so I can enjoy it throughout the day.
Ah, that Duro. It's my favourite from Nasomatto. When I was talking with a professor who reveiled me the meaning of the name "Duro", I was stunned little bit. Duro derives from latin and it means, how to say in a polite way..."a hard on"...and the name is choosen with purpouse because this extract is inspired with that feeling.:)
Who would say that from such small bottle can project such intensive smell. The exract is very strong and intensive from the beginning to the end. There are woodsy notes with spices. The wood is the base of composition which surrounds the spices. That spices jumps out from the composition and they are very sharp and prickly. I can't detect any leather there and this one reminds me on a finest wooden parquet and wooden furniture from highest quality wood. And You just need to add spices to get that sharp scent. The smeel itself is very manly and intensive and dry as someone mentioned that before. It lasts for days and the intensitivity can irritate your nose.
It's not supposed to be smelled immediatelly after applying and the applying on the skin must be with sticks. What to say, a great woody dry scent which reminds on most noble wood with tons of spices that are prickly. That's what makes this perfume - a Duro!:)
Now that I joined Fragrantica I re-post my review of Duro by Nasomatto.
I think Alessandro Gualtieri is a true artist of fragrances, but Duro it's not for me. Too sweet and overpowing. When I think to masculinity, I don't think to Duro.
I remember describing Pacco Rabanne "Black XS" to a friend the other day- "this tries to get up your nose spikes first and possibly remove some brain dura matter(pun intended) in lieu of future mummification". To my (now defiled) nose and brain, "Duro" smells very much like "Black XS". The good news is that it is slightly more bearable, even though I am certain "Duro" also includes patchouli, for all of Nasomatto's mystery-coated press releases for these perfumes.
I love his "China White" and "Hindu Grass"."Black Afghano" was a short-lived love affair until the dry-down, when it very much resembles "Duro". If you like "Duro", but wish it were slightly lighter and more interesting, do test "Black Afghano". If not, make sure you don't get it on your clothes-I had to wash my jacket after it had touched my hapless neck post-Duro application. Oh, and that was two weeks later.
I think Alessandro Gualtieri is a true artist of fragrances, but Duro it's not for me. Too sweet and overpowing. When I think to masculinity, I don't think to Duro.
If you enjoy smell of a sawmill - freshly cut wood or once been in love with woodcutter, you may enjoy it:)
It smells like fresh sawdust from diferent type of trees..
This is quite scaring and I probably wouldn't like to smell it on my man. You never know. Life is so weird I could expect to wear it myself, while at the moment my little ears curl just thinking of such an evenience.
Not my type of fragrance, still very well made, a little work of perfume mastery. Quality is undeniable.
It's very dry, leathery, absolutely masculin (at least in most cultures), not too spiced, very woodsy. It's like smelling a new massive wood furniture and it also smells... well...masculin! The name Duro is not ouf of place, even if I find it is so descriptive as an adjective for this scent that it may become humoristic.
Duro is a wonderful masculine fragrance that reminds me of the 60's and 70's power-frags (in strength only).
It opens with a leathery-woodsy scent that lasts, in various stages, pretty much through the dry-down. The heart notes smell,to my nose, of INCENSI and
3rd MAN with the leather and woods still present.
I'd definitely buy a bottle if it just wasn't so expensive. $148.oo for 30 ml.
