After a long hiatus from wearing any scents, I picked this one up about a year ago. I made this choice after doing a side by side smell test with Cool Water (which I liked) and deciding the two scents were close enough, so the lower price of Nautica Blue won the day. Big mistake. I never did get Cool Water and regretted the choice ever since.
Blue is a reasonably interesting scent when first applied. I get fresh spice notes tinged with citrus. This first hit of fragrance was the main selling point. After a little bit of time, it becomes more synthetic smelling, like Sharpie markers only not as nice. Maybe stale Sharpies. Not pleasant at all. After drydown it settles into a nondescript spice and citrus mix with little in the way of sillage or longevity.
It's main advantage is that, other than the short middle period, the scent is totally inoffensive, almost invisible. Since my wife objects strongly to strong scents, this was actually a plus for her (but not so much for me).
I lived with this okay scent for quite a while before becoming frustrated and venturing out for more aromatic pastures.
Some lessons learned:
1. You cannot judge scents by their initial fragrance notes. You have to experience them for much longer durations to get a true sense.
2. Trading off quality for cost savings is NOT worth it. Since you'll be living with these scents for a long time (at least with 100ml bottles), better to spend more to get something you love rather than like.
3. Nautica Blue is a run of the mill aquatic. Not offensive, but not special either. Save your money and look elsewhere. For instance, its cousin, Nautica Oceans, is a LOT more interesting.
The epitome of cheap-fresh. It smells like something I would expect from a room freshener or deodorant. It smells fresh, a little fruity, aquatic and actually a touch metallic edgy as well. It's not bad for the price but it's also not great for wearing IMO more for freshening the room.
Nautica Blue is a very basic aquatic scent, very boring, synthetic, smells like a sweaty locker room, nothing special.
very very oceany fragrance..
stays like that all through out.. fresh n masculine.. but da fragrance is very common and even cheap deos have da same fragrance.. not my favourite.. i would nt recommend it.
i'll giv it 6.5/10.
Its a good cheapo, nice summer fragrance, it might seem over synthetic when you spray first, but let it settle down, I can smell the water lily note, its stays an hour or so on my skin and develops into cedary sandalwood base with hint of mild citrus. It doesn't project much and wouldn't offend anyone.
It can be a good workout frag or just for one of days you just want to apply something just to stay indoor. Nevertheless doesn't disappoint and last about 5-6 hours on my skin and sometimes even more! :)
Cheap but fresh and good for going to the supermarket...xD
Nautica Blue
ok i never really use this one, i got a gift set from nautica about 6-8 months ago and its came with this voyage and the normal nautica,
This is a very good summer cologne, i dotn know how long it lasts ill review it again maybe later on, but heres the top notes impression.
at the top you definately get the peach and bergamot blended together, i get alot more peaches then bergamot though, its actually pretty good. This smells like its perfect for summer days on the beach, or on a boat..

Projection: moderate
Longevity: 5-6 hours
smell: good/fresh
ocation: casual/laid back
season:summer
It is a very fresh scent and fruity with a very good opening where the dominant note of pineapple after it gets cooler device notes of cedar and musk.
It has a fix approximately 6hrs, has a very cheap price and the bottle is very beautiful, the perfume is very good for the academy.
As others have said, I do confirm and agree that this cologne is smells cheap and synthetic. I bought it blindly because I have such a good opinion of Voyage, after reading many reviews about Blue I thought it must be at least decent.
It is alright, I will use it until the end eventually, but I doubt I will order it again, although it does smell nice I believe it could have been a great cologne if the quality was better and did not smell so cheap. It does feel like some kind of 15 Dollar cologne, you can definately tell the difference if you compare it to Voyage or other good colognes.
This fragrance was released around the time the original Nautica (blue-green flacon , clear juice, raised lower case letters in the glass "nautica") changed its packaging making it very similar to this one (clear flacon, lite teal-tinted juice, upper case lettering on glass "NAUTICA") so even with the testers out I thought I knew what I was doing and grabbed the WRONG box.(Now I always read the fine print!)
I don't know about you but when I get a fragrance home (new or replacement) I tear off the cellophane like a kid on Christmas morning, fumble with the box, get it out, take off the lid and spray it in the box, wave it around and sniff like a cognac conniseur. So imagine my surprise when I inhaled THIS expecting the original woody chypre mens classic of 1992...oh God, I been burned!!
This also has a clear flacon, darker blue juice and upper case lettering on the glass...it's one thing for a co. to change the package or the flacon but when you start messing with my juice, boy..."you bought Nautica Blue, dummy!" my mothers words echoed through my head in slow motion like the NOOOO in the climax of an action movie..."It's not too bad, kinda nice",she says. (This from a woman whose idea of therapy is LAUNDRY) Anyway when life gives you lemons make lemonade...or lemon detergent, whatever floats your boat...
Having not saved the receipt (I always do this today, as a matter of fact I have cologne receipts going back to 2006!) I figured well I have a big bottle, I'll just spray a lot on and use it up...I've worn it maybe 5 times in 2 years...It is not the original that is for sure but after its on for a while there is an echo of the old formula lurking around but it is mostly fruity top with a floral heart and woody musky base. It is ozonic and detergent-y at times but after the peachy-pineapply and strong bergamot fade into the soft waterlily-jasmine heart and some of the ozone/detergent evaporates its clean watery and woody-fresh...Blue-yes,indeed. A classic, not!
Sillage: weak
Longevity: below average (1-2 hours)
Overall: 2/5
Good to refresh yourself after the gym or when you have no time to shower. Not soapy but clean and slightly sweet...
Synthetic, but in a nice inoffensive way. Like most aquatics, this fragrance is fresh, clean, and nice to smell. You will get the "You smell nice" comments bc you will smell like freshly washed clothes. I prefer something a little more complex, and equally as fresh but w/o the synthetic ozone note like this one.
All that being said, this is a GREAT high school or junior high cologne, especially for the price. You can't beat it if this is your 1st fragrance and you want something aquatic and fresh. Nothing groundbreaking, but it smells nice. Teenage girls WILL like this cologne. Great everyday fragrance. I give it 2 thumbs up for its purpose, versatility, smell, and value.
Very cheap, synthetic smelling. Doesn't last long on me. Smells like a cheap laundry detergent. Very surf-y. No other note is apparent other than aqua.
Longevity: below average
Silage: Poor
Not recommended at all.
It's a decent scent, the pineapple helps in that but not the greatest out there. Great for its price point and worth a spray or two. Great for daily use but get something better for that date or night out. Pure summer and spring.
Nautica Blue becomes a wonderful surprise for me. I have already tried Nautica Vouyage and I really didn't like. Its smell, its longevity, nothing was good on it!
But when I felt Blue I liked a lot. Specially because I usually have some problems with fresh scents. I have a warm temperature in my body, so these ones, with more volatile notes, tend to go away easier!
But not Nautica Blue. It is a "new Cool Water" on my oppinion. But this one stays on my skin. Gives me a cool sensation and I love the sweet feeling of the pineapple notes.
its ver nad for me , i jus ddnt like it , to boring , silly , bland and like just not that good
i like this scent. simple and fresh.
I am new to this site, but I will say this. This cologne was one of few that caught my eye one day when I was on a cologne jaunt. I think several people here on this site can agree, when we go past a cologne/perfume rack and there are testers, our noses get very curious. This one blended very well with my skin from the moment I put it on. It is a very fresh and clean smell that I never see as coming off as offensive. For the price it is relatively a very underrated pick and to be honest a great choice when going out during the day. The water lily and the sandalwood stuck out the most on my skin and I have a rather rough and thick type of skin with more open pores. If you need a good lunch date cologne or wanna smell like a cool ocean breeze that will have everyone around you as well as yourself going wow..... thats unique, then this is the cologne for that. Definitely one of my new favorites.
It was a free gift and a blind pick for me! At home when i sniffed it, frm tht time, I was repentent, why I picked it up!!! It is one of my most worst buys!!!
At d top some pineapple notes, thn it starts to become ozonic, makin me feeling naucia!!! Then it remains ozonic and ends ozonic!! such a cheap and blunt composition!! I hate its smell!!!
