I love this baby! It has a little of Spark, M. Kors for Men and some great amber in there!

It works so well for me when I pair it with The Body Shop's Sensuous Amber body wash!

Lasts well and projects well also. To me it seems like it can be worn everywhere and time of year except for maybe work because like Spark, it seems kinda sensuous or sexual.

I definitely agree with some of the stuff Bigsly said. Now lemme add my review.

The original formulation (1994) is one of my top 20 favorite fragrances of all time; it has a strange musty, dusty leather note combined with some smoky wood, booze, and apples. The apples aren't as prominent and overall it's one of the most unique and enjoyable smells in all of perfumery. Nicole Miller for Men is a comforting scent that hits home, like a bonfire. It doesn't try to be too classy or something out of this world.

Then, there's the new version, which was released by Parlux in 2006. It's able to retain the character of the original (Luca Turin's quip about holograms in perfumery applies here), but it's just not as good. The mustiness gets too tangy, like someone turning up the brightness too high on a TV. The leather and smokiness don't come forward as much - now the apple, booze, and some majorly piercing aldehydes take center stage for most of the top and middle. This version also doesn't last as long.

I own both versions, and personally, I prefer the vintage a lot more. The current one wouldn't even crack my top 50. If you can get your hands on a vintage bottle, or even a mini, do so. It's one of the unsung masterpieces of men's fragrances and most certainly worth experiencing.

One last thing - for a tidbit on how to differentiate between the current and vintage versions, as the box design and bottle are virtually the same, look at the ingredients on the box. The vintage version has fewer ingredients - usually only alcohol, water, fragrance. The current version lists all the aromachemicals as well as a few other solvents. Some gift sets floating around on the internet, such as ones with soap, etc are usually vintage. Keep your eyes open, you'll be pleasantly surprised by what you smell.

There are two formulations. The new one was made in the USA whereas the original was made by Rivera Concepts (Toronto, Canada). There is a sticker on the bottom of the bottle that will tell you. I think all the 125 ml ones are original and almost all the 75 ml ones you see for sale at stores are the new formulation, which IIRC is/was made by 5 Star Fragrances.

The new one is very strong at first, and quite nice, if you like sweet/fruity leather. However, after an hour or so, you get a very weak base, which is of no particular interest (a slightly musky vanillic sort of thing). The original Canadian one persists longer with a decent sandalwood note in the base. What's weird is that this original version isn't very strong at first, unlike the new one. In fact, I'd like to have the new opening and the original base. However, the original version is clearly superior, IMO, while the new one seems to have been designed to hook people in with the nice first hour or so. The original is the one for the aficionado.

Anyway, if you have the kind of skin chemistry that really "eats up" fragrances, my suggestion is to avoid the new one. With the old one, you might be able to appreciate it if you spray more than usual. I've seen this selling really cheap now (most will be the new, 75 ml one), so if you like sweet leather fragrances (that are at least somewhat "masculine") and have the right kind of skin chemistry, the new one might be for you. Neither version has the powdery qualities of a fragrance like Dior Homme, but instead they have more of a fresh/boozy fruit quality instead. They are reasonably "natural" smelling.

Note that if anyone is seeking either version I have an extra bottle of both I can swap or make decants from, if you just want to buy a decant.

I bought this cause the discription from my friend said, apples & sandalwood. Yeah lets just say we aren't friends anymore. This was the worst $15 I ever spent, honestly it starts nice and then moves into a nasty thick car oil/mechanic hands kind of smell. Foul just foul! I recomend this for men from the age of 90 to 1,000

It's a great smell for its price. I wouldn't buy it for everyday use and it can get boring fats. After half the bottle was done I used it as a room and car spray.

I don't quite know what to say about this fragrance. It has a very strong smell of apples and alcohol, with a bit of honey. Not an alcohol smell in an astringent way; more like apple schnapps (very sweeet) or maybe an apple martini. To me the initial smell of apples & grog never really goes away and I don't seem to get any of the drydown smells mentioned by others here.

The problem I have with it is I'm not sure when I would want to smell like apples and alcohol! Certainly not in the office, or even at a function. Maybe at a casual party for novelty value?

On a positive note, this can be found VERY cheap. I picked up mine (blind) for about $8.00!

I certainly don't hate Nicole Miller for Men, but I just don't see myself wearing this one very often.

The bottle I have is one of the newer ones and it is very, VERY boozy with a wonderful juxtaposition into the leather mid that I absolutely love. The apple top notes are really short lived, but effective and the honey stays in the background throughout the entire progression. I am getting very little vanilla, but it is there - like a drop or two of the cheap grocery store sort (not a bad thing) just for added measure. Strangely enough, the apple seems to come out again later on me - mixing with the bourbon and that little hint of vanilla. I REALLY like this stage. The base is very comforting and just plain nice- containing a lovely smooth as silk amber/sandalwood accord with a hint of oak moss (I stress hint) and sweet (do in part to the honey) musk. Sort of similar to some others, but the lack of patchouli makes this very different.

Very nice indeed. Nice bottle too . . .

For my part, I have an unequal 2 out of 3 appreciation out of this cologne.

1/3 which is the top note, is a smell of apples that disappears within a few minutes! :-(
2/3 is a boozy, rubbing alcohol smell which I don't hate but don't love either which really sticks around for a while. :-S
3/3 appears a few hours later. the dry-down FINALLY kicks in, which reminds me a lot of Corduroy or Obsession Night.

Part 1 & 3 make me love this fragrance but since part 1 doesn't last that long, I'm not sure if I will stock this one up while it's still available for cheap since it's discountinued.

Wow I forgot i once used this! It was kind of sweet and woodsy. It was perfect for the day, it didn't last too long on the skin - not one for a night out. It was still very pleasant though.
