Garofano (Carnation) Officina Profumo-Farmaceutica di Santa Maria Novella for women and men

This starts out as a beautiful crisp spicy floral- soliflore...ode to the carnation. I thought what better top layer to go along with my covetted Roger & Gallet Carnation soaps? But after about 20 minutes the silage becomes way too loud, and I was forced to open my car window and then to stop to wash it off before arriving home. But the story doesn't end there because after 3 washing attempts it is still lingering on my arm, now it's about where I would want the projection to be. My skin spices spicy and piquant with that unmistakable carnation aura, but no longer smells like a carnation bomb time machine exploded all over my car/house/ and sent me back to 1940. I love the idea of this scent and certainly, if you want everyone in the room to know how much you adore carnations- this is undeniably a true-to-life Carnation, but now I realize, I want my living room to smell like a greatly diluted version of this, not my skin.

This is a full-on floral. I don't wear floral perfume, and I'm still a little shocked that I bought it. I think the spicy note of the carnation flower seduced me (I like elements of wood, spice, leather), and it was just so unique. I get many comments when I wear it. Ultimately, it's just too radiant for work (this is a fragrance that perfumes an entire room), and not quite sexy enough to wear out in the evening, so I enjoy it, but don't wear it very often. Perhaps the ideal scent to wear outdoors in the cold winter air, where it will bring memories of spring without knocking anyone out. Good or bad, SMN scents last forever (both on skin and in the bottle), and don't come in small sizes, so I have had this one so many years I am a little tired of it.
