A delicate, summery scent inspired by a dainty miniature Japanese orchid, Dendrobium moniliforme. The nose behind the fragrance is Ellen Covey. Osafume is available as a parfum extrait or EdP. Anise, star anise, and magnolia combine with heliotrope, vanilla, and white musk to make this light, airy fragrance. Osafume was launched in 2011.
Love it. Sweet and strong, but also airy and fresh. Perfectly balanced, very feminine.
The anise and star anise are, at first, quite intense on my skin but evolve nicely into a light but still rich blend of magnolia, anise and vanilla. I have smelled this orchid and can understand where Ellen Covey is coming from in her interpretation of the orchid's scent. "Osafume" relays the impression of the same light, airiness of the original bloom. The vanilla aspect (from both the heliotrope and the vanilla) does tend to weigh it down a bit, but the anise and magnolia keep the fragrance light. I like the way the perfume seems to be almost polar in nature, alternating on my skin from the richer vanilla, heliotrope and musk blend to the lighter anise, star anise and magnolia aspect.
