Waikiki Pikake by Pacifica is a Floral fragrance for women. The fragrance features jasmine and sandalwood.
I can see that there are quite a few fans out there for this one, so I'm guessing it was just my body chemistry that didn't go well with it. Maybe the white floral was a little too strong. It definitely has a clean, fresh smell to it but not in a cold way. The heart of it was almost warm, like amber, but still kept light and uplifting. Above all, the drydown is the white floral, and I can actually imagine this smelling fantastic on someone else. Just not me.
This reminds me somewhat of Nina L'elixir. I do get jasmine here, but also I pick up on sweet fruity and citrus notes, and clean musk. The dominant scents in L'elixir. Waikiki Pikake has a stronger kick of earthy white florals though. It's OK, and it's good for an inexpensive scent. I like it best in the first hour it's on...after that point it gets a bit soapy and cloying.
I don't know the scent of pikake or hawaii, but this smells tropical. It's not much like the jasmine in our backyard (in California) or like jasmine tea, but it's a little bit like lemon blossoms, gardenias are the closest thing I know of. Very creamy and almost fruity-sweet rather than floral sweet, lush and tropical. It's a little heady, but never musty or overwhelming, I dislike heavy white florals, but I liked this.
The drydown is very soft, still sweet, a little more floral and closer to jasmine, but not quite. I know Pacifica makes these to be layered, but gets pretty faint after about 30 minutes.
Compared to their Tunisian Jasmine, Wakiki Pikake is definitely sweeter, more gardenia-like, tropical and almost fruity, while Tunisian Jasmine is much more like a dry jasmine tea. Both are sweet and richly exotic, but in very different ways.
I agree with hollycat. I am a big Kai fan and I think I may like this even better! It's so lush, green and tropical-LOVE!
Jasmine (and the white flowers in this scent) really is a hit-or-miss for some people. Jasmine loves my chemistry (thankfully - SOMETHING does!) but I feel bad for the people that it turns to mothball smell on, because they are missing out.
If you don't know how jasmine smells on you, sampling this would be a good test, because it doesn't get much more jasmine than this. (I realize it it's technically pikake, but to me, the floral is all jasmine)
Like one of the previous posters, I was a Love's Musky Jasmine junky in the 80's. This is pretty close.
On me, there wasn't any citus or cedar - just jasmine and sandalwood.
I love Pacifica Tunisian Jasmine at least as much as this one - maybe slightly more (I'm worried that it will be discontinued - "oh no! not again!") Frankly, I think that mixing Tunisian Jasmine with this scent might be the ultimate jasmine experience, as the almond in Tunisian jasmine adds beautiful character, and the sandalwood in this one is simply wonderful.
This lasts and lasts on me - pacifica fragrances are such a great deal!
This is a very lush, tropical floral. Lots of white white flowers, mostly jasmine (love the jasmine) that I recognize. I have never smelled pikake before but I am guessing that the tropical headiness comes from the pikake. It starts off fresh and breezy then it warms up and becomes sweeter, more romantic as the day wears on. I thought it might be a nice light floral for day, but now I think it might be a bit heavy for the summer with the high humidity. It is so beautiful, warm and flowery though that I plan to wear it for evening or maybe special occasions. It is certainly a very special perfume, beautiful and lush. I have not smelled anything quite like it. I suppose Bell is right it is similar to Fracas but it has a lightness, a tropical feel that Fracas does not have. At least not on me. I am so glad that I bought this, it is lovely and different from anything I own.
I hated this scent. It is not at all what I expected. It was quite different from the other waikiki pikake I smelled before. I don't know how to explain it, but this scent let me down.
I love how pretty and uncomplicated this is! The first thing that hits my nose and then my brain about Waikiki Pikake perfume spray is how utterly retro it is! It’s like flipping through an old Vogue with Twiggy on the cover for me. It has this boozy vintage jasmine and woodsy aura about it. It’s entirely possible I’m associating the “retro jasmine” with perfume oils found at Trade shows, carnivals, and head shops as a small child. It’s the same with the sandalwood accord; it’s slightly dusty or smoky like incense burning in the wind. I have no idea what Pikake petals smell like but there is also something green and quite organic about this scent, it’s like pressing your nose inside the heart fresh picked flowers.
Really pretty and straightforward, not complex. I don't really get much sandalwood other than a powdery drydown, just florals - white flowers with a very green edge - like a dry white wine. Great price for the quality, like all Pacificas, just excellent. Lasting power is in the middle, not the worst or best. Got to say I prefer their Tunisian Jasmine, which is warmer and sweeter, a little more complex, and lasts a bit longer. Alas, I passed this one on, it didn't work ON me - smells better around me or on others near me. Love the peacock on the bottle!
This Waikiki Pikake is not a complex scent so this is just my overall impression, which is quite good. As expected, It gives me this sense and smell of exotic tropical flowers and green leafy plants. It's so tropical rainforest-like with the hint of ocean breeze, but its not at all aquatic. Furthermore, it is quite light for white floral scent, and I personally don't like jasmine. I guess its because the solid perfume provides much softer feel. Wait til it settles down and the scent is enjoyable.
I love the packaging on these things, but this one ended up smelling like mothballs on me after dry down. Onset was a nice tropical floral, though it didn't exactly remind me of Oahu. But it ended up with that sharp mothball edge I often get with white florals. Ah, well, you sure can't beat the price.
This is a great perfume. I am a big fan of florals, and this smells like no other floral that I have. I can't even put my finger on it. I have never been to Hawaii, but I imagine the flowers on the island would smell just like this scent.
The staying power is pretty good, 5-6 hours worth. It does not change at all, the scent just settles down on your skin.

EDIT: While I enjoyed this in the summer, I didn't reach for it too often. Now that's is fall, ah, I can't get enough! Rich and wonderful sweetly floral, with a sandalwood drydown. Delicious.
This perfume is fantastic. For years I have searched for the unique scent that is reminiscent of youth wound up in the scent formerly known as "Love's Musky Jasmine". The company discontinued that fragrance back in the early 80's and developed and inferior product called Jasmine Musk. Well, never have I smelled a sweeter more succulent smell that is unique till now. This is the closest anyone will ever come to the yesteryear smell Musky Jasmine
For those of you who like Kai, I say try this instead of Kai. To me it smells better than Kai, even more natural. A nice, tropical, white floral scent. At a price you would pay for a few bags of organic apples.
This is a surprisingly heady floral (most of the Pacifica perfumes I've tried have been on the light and citrusy/fruity side). Very reminiscent of Dior Pure Poison to my nose - a warm, creamy jasmine. The sandalwood definitely comes into play, giving it a woody drydown similar to Pure Poison. Waikiki Pikake is not a complex scent, but it is rich and very natural smelling. I tried the solid perfume – a true bargain at $9. Decent strength and lasting power to boot. Thumbs up!
OMG!!! I felt like I was back on the beach in Cancun!!! What a great fresh tropical scent!!! If this is what Hawaii smells like...I'm sooooo there for the rest of my life!!!
All "Pacifica" fragrances start-off a little sweet and "Waikiki Pikake" is no exception; it opens on a succulant, citrus burst of soft orange, that quickly begins evolving into a smooth, almost dry-oil butteriness, that brings to mind the waxy petals of a jasmine bloom. This jasmine isn't at all grungy or greasy and dense (as jasmines can sometimes be) but lush, fresh and clean. However, there is a definite touch of carnality to "Waikiki Pikake", as the jasmine becomes richer and reminiscent of picked blooms that have begun wilting in full-blown sunshine and heat, before entering sandalwood territory; a soft, woodsy hum gently dries the blend and adds a slightly astringent kick (similar to the modern vetiver or cedar-type note found in Michael Kors' "Very Hollywood"), feeling both breezy and smooth upon drydown. A very pretty blend that would wear well for all seasons, seeming cooler and creamier during winter and lusher and more tropical in summer heat. Plus, "Pacifica" blends are very "eco-friendly" and affordable, with the option of spending less than $10.00 on a solid fragrance and only slightly more for a larger-sized spray option.
If I were to buy a fragrance that reminded me of the tropics this would probably be the one. It lasted and projected well on my skin as opposed to the Tahitian Gardenia, which I also loved.
This is a little strong and harsh, but dries down quite beautifully. I agree w/ Belle, this reminded me of gardenia ( or rather what a lush white floral bouquet is supposed to be ) I like the drydown of this better than their Tahitian Gardenia. Thumbs waay up for this line. Affordable and beautiful.
Pikake is the traditional 'royal' flower of the native Hawaiians and was used in the making of leis and marriage beds - I smell the seductive tropical flower in addition to the jasmine (a relative) and sandal listed. A beautiful heady floral in the manner of Fracas and the original Tuvache Jungle Gardenia, but the lasting power is not as long as some rich florals.
What a lovely scent! I have only tried the soap, but I have a feeling the cologne is very nice, too
