I find the melon is Emotionelle is nowhere near as close to overripe as the melon in Diorella. This is an underripe melon. To my nose, it's not even the same kind of melon, it's not as rich. This perfume starts with melon, and then tangerine and a light, sweet rose come in, with just a hint of clove. At this point, the perfume starts disappearing on me. But as it's going, I get a whiff of honey and violet. Goodbye perfume!

Emotionelle starts out with some sort of melon, probably cantaloupe that’s at the stage of its life just between edibility and rotting, before it’s gone sour, the stage where parts of it become translucent and soft, fruit flies start circling it, and you can smell it all over the house. I really don’t mind the melon. I would even be willing to entertain the notion of rubbing myself with canteloupe beyond its prime. Under the right circumstances I might even enjoy it.

However, along with the melon there’s something harsh, synthetic, and discordant, like burning plastic or shorted-out electrical wiring. It big and it’s evil, and it stings my nose and my eyes and takes away whatever juiciness and sensual qualities the melon might potentially have had. Is it teak? No, it’s something worse than teak, straight out of the nightmare forest of synthetic woods run amok. What were they thinking, pairing up that poor defenseless compost-bound melon and a hulking Darth Vader-like creature belching fumes worthy of a large-scale industrial accident, a terrorist bomb dropped in a plastics factory?

After a couple of hours some of the chemical smell goes away and what’s left is the over-ripe melon accompanied by a little bit of amber and vanilla. However, there’s still enough of the bad stuff to ruin whatever good things there may be. No thank you.

Don't ask me why, but to my nose Parfums DelRae EMOTIONNELLE smells initially like tuberose and leather! Very, very odd, I know, given the absence of either note and the inclusion of just about everything else under the sun, none of which I detect!

Do I like EMOTIONNELLE? In all honesty, the answer is: not really. It's not that I dislike it--I wouldn't call this a scrubber or a stinker (in the pejorative sense...there is of course an approbative sense of "stinker"..) or a chemical soup, etc. But I find this perfume a touch too confusing. In wafts, I seem to be smelling a bit of caraway seed along with the pseudo-tuberose and non-leather. The drydown eventually becomes a sort of brownish cantalope scent...

Above all, my problem with EMOTIONNELLE is that I just don't find it very alluring or compelling at any stage, which is often the case for me with rich fruit compositions, and that is why I have imposed an absolute moratorium on blind buys of perfumes such as this. Désolée.

Such a lovely and thoughtful gift. I wish my nose could pick up something besides melon. It's a great melon, really, but that's all there is on my skin: honeydew melon with green flesh or the crenshaw type with the pale yellow flesh. I love melon but this is ALL melon, ALL the time. Where are the violets? the roses? the honey? Oh, I'm so sad, so emotionnelle. This does not work for me.

yikes!! This was an absolute NO GO for me..there s a note I do not know.. the labdanum? the clove? It really really annoys me yes let s name it:it stinks on me like nothing else... I m so disappointed because all the other notes I thought I'd like in this perfume.. but I ve tried to scrub it off and it still sticks and lingers on my skin!! Very good lasting power and sillage indeed! Only my good old Shalimar sprayed upon my already scrubbed skind could kill this scent..sorry normally I do not write such angry reviews but please sample it before buying a big bottle! You're warned...

I have to be fair and add a disclaimer to this review: my chemistry profile is a green/woody/metallic; meaning my preferences are chypres and dark floral orientals.

Gourmands, strong white florals and fruitcake festivals are about as appealing to me as rolling in cow patties...

Emotionnelle opens well enough, and I can honestly say that I like the opening. I've been wearing Parfum de Therese a lot lately, and I can detect some similarities (same nose)

The middle phase does get sweet, and this is where preference comes into play.

Emotionnelle becomes a big no in the dry down. This note isn't listed, but I get caramel. This gets really stinky on me; as if I went to rock concert and someone's freshly removed panties landed down my shirt instead of on stage (this is how my chemistry wears gourmands)

So, emotionnelle isn't for me, but hopefully someone who prefers this genre will rock on with it.
