DOES ANYONE KNOW IF THIS PERFUME IS MUSKY?...AFTER READING REVIEWS I THOUGHT I WOULD LIKE IT SO I BOUGHT IT...THE TOP NOTE SMELLS SOAPY-ISH WITH SOME LILY OF THE VALLEY...The drydown is musky and unpleasant,,,is that how the original Casual smells? is the cap purple or blue, mine is purple...pleeease help
This has a nice, kind of soapy flowery smell but it's really strong! Very sharp opening but there are enough sweeter flowers underneath to balance it. I really like it when sprayed lightly in warm weather. Reminds me of my old favorite, the original Tatiana from the early 80's, before it was changed into something horrible.
I acquired my big bottle of Casual as a blind buy over the internet because I'd read so many rave reviews of it and it's impossible to get hold of here in England. Luckily for me, I tracked down a website that specializes in hard to find perfumes, especially American ones, so I was very happy to be able to get a bottle from there.
When I first smelled Casual I was a bit disappointed because, although I thought it was pleasant, it didn't live up to my high expectations and it didn't strike me as being particularly special. My first impression was that it smelled a bit unusual, quite artificial and flowery (although less commonly flowery than a perfume such as Pleasures, luckily!) but after wearing it for awhile the artificial smell died down and it started to smell really nice. The longer it was on my skin the better and better it smelled. Not only that but it lasted for ages as well and stayed with me until I washed it off. It's a subtle, light, airy and clean smelling fragrance so it's great as an everyday, go-to scent and would be perfect as a work perfume because I doubt anybody could be irritated or annoyed by it!
So, I really do like this perfume very much now and hopefully it'll be a staple scent in my perfume collection for as long as I'm able to get it!
I agree with sassy. I've often read reviews where perfumes have been described as been soapy but I've had mixed feelings. Well I have to agree with sassy this does smell soapy. It would be very nice in a bar of soap. Like a previous reviewer said I likewise bought this due to accolades by reviewers. It makes for a nice change when I don't want to wear the same old oriental spice and vanilla fragrances.
At first it comes across as a very sharp floral, the jasmine really dominates in this one. This smells very familiar to me but I can't quite place it. The dry down reminds me of Glow but it's not as smooth. I think the name definitely suites this fragrance, perfect for off days and nothing formal. Would make a good warm weather fragrance.
Oh, and one more thing.... Casual (and any other purfume for that matter), smells totally different on different people... purfumes mix with individual's own body chemistry so no two people "smell the same". What smells wonderful on one person, can smell terrible on another. So... don't "dog" Casual... it's just not the one for you. :)
I will not wear any other fragrance BUT Casual... Every day I get comments on how good I smell and how "clean" my purfume is. That is why I have been wearing Casual exclusively for over 10 years. LOVE IT!!!!
This seems to be one that woman either love or hate. I'm in that second category. This just smells super chemically to my nose, very sharp & harsh. It burns my nose, it doesn't seem like it has one natural thing about it. Overall, I think Paul Sebastian fragrances are very artificial, harsh & cheap.
I love this fragrance, is very nice and clean smelling, great for the summer and very memorable.
I agree with Kittycat63, it's final note is rather artificial. The top note seems to me as a lily of the valley scent.
I find this fragrance cute but shallow and I can't cope with the artificiality of it.
I am currently wearing "Casual" and I receive so many compliments, especially from men. But I have received twice as many compliments when I layer it with "Adrienne Vittadini Venezia" perfume. The amazing thing was this was just a fluke trying to see if I could make "Casual" smell even better, and I hit the jackpot. It has a very unique scent, not overpowering just light and very aromatic.
This is a very strong flowery scent and lasts a long long time. I could only use it for around six months then moved on to something else, I do that all the time. It records a memory than I close that chapter and move on to something else. Crisp clean scent though, very nice.
I just rescued this one from the bargain bin. It's an unremarkable fresh smelling soapy floral, summer scent which will probably be good for the office but won't turn any heads. And who names PS frags anyway? They are horrible at it!! Design? Casual? Funky Sexy Cool?
Ecch!
Update: Layer this one with a spicy oriental. I chose PR Oro and the combo is long lasting and radiant. It makes 2 otherwise lackluster scents shine and tones down Oro's masculine tone.
tried this a couple months ago and didnt like it. smells artifical
My sister has this and to me it's just blah. It's hardly even noticeable and to me smells kinda like dish detergent. The bottle is pretty though with the frosted glass and purple top. I'd let this one sit on my dresser with my perfumes only because the bottle's cute but I'd never use it.
Smells good but it is a huge bottle 4 oz. So I gave it to my daughter and she likes it alot.Perfect size bottle for her because she sprays alot! It is so flowery and kind of reminds me of Glow but not as sweet.
I have a question: Is it the similar smells? Some analogous parfume?
To me this is a very clean smelling fragrance. Very nice summer smell. I don't get many fruity notes, but I definitely smell floral notes. Good scent!
