I have a friend who wore Paul Smith London every day a few years ago and on her it smelled revolting, very sour and unappealing. For that reason I never tried it until now, and on my skin its really very lovely. Fruity, deep and just a hint of powder. I get the comparison with Allure EDT, it has the same feeling and depth. There is just the right amount of vanilla here too, perfume makers seem to have been very heavy handed with the vanilla lately, this is just perfect. Thank goodness we don't all have the same chemistry.

Paul Smith London for Women is more complex than it's male counterpart. Whereas the male version smells predominantly of coconuts, the female version smells like cherries dipped in cognac and dusted with powder. That said, the scent does keep evolving- from fruity to flowery to fruity again at the end. I'd give it 4.25 out of 5.

A deep sexy scent, works both day and night. Not heavy or edgy. Soft but at the same time intensive. No sugarsweet flowers, but nice deep flowers. This is a keeper.

En djup sexig doft som funkar lika bra dag som natt. Inga tunga eller skarpa noter. Mjuk men ändå intensiv. Inga sockersöta blomnoter men djupa mörka blomnoter. Härlig!

A thick cherry-like warmth. Really fine when you are in the right mood for such type of scent.

I love love love Paul Smith London! I tried it at David Jones when i was younger (maybe 16) and i fell in love with it! It was the first perfume i bought for myself, my mother bought me perfume like Pure White Linen... so London to me was out of this world!

I have received many many compliments from men and women with this perfume! My partner says that the smell is me and that without it i'm missing something. It's no longer sold in Australia (a few websites and ebay still sell it though) which is a shame!

I don't find it smells like cough syrup at all! It smells warm, smells of vanilla and if full was a smell... it would be London! I just sprayed some on my wrist to trigger my memory and it just fell in love with it again!

I bought Euphoria recently for a slight change as it was recommended as a, if you like London you will like this... and Euphoria doesn't even compete! Euphoria smells floral yes, but doesn't have the warm, rich, full bodied dry down that London does... London is a scent that eludes confidence, success and maturity (personality not age) whereas Euphoria is just a sweet floral fragrance that doesn't have warmth or depth...

I know which perfume i'm going to be wearing to work tomorrow!

To me, London is Allure gone dark.

It's an interesting scent, although not too complex.
It's creamy and warm, at the same time being quite green and somehow moist.
I guess it must be the special combination of heliotrope and neroli.
Something between comforting creaminess of Allure and aggressive fresh scent of a floor cleaner.

I'd recommend to try it to anyone who likes unique, odd scents.
For me, a bit too intensive. Causes me headaches.

I really love this perfume because it smells like concentrated cherry juice that gets slightly spicier before it dies from its long life. It is cute and cough-syrup like.

This fragrance is warm, yummy and sweet but it doesn't last. I was a bit disappointed because first notes are really enchanting.

I found this fragrance too sweet when I first sniffed it. It was gifted by a friend who said I'd love it but I didn't. It was cloying and heavy and the bottle felt very awkward. I kept it for a while and then gave it another chance. Still quite sweet with a dominant fruitiness but I started to note its complexity. Gave it a rest. Tried again in winter and only then did I start to appreciate it.
Colleagues at work complimented me on it and hung around for a while. The vanilla and anise clung gently to coats and jackets and it just had an aura about it. I still can't wear it in hot weather but now I can look forward to spending time with it as the seasons cool.

More floral than woody to me.

Sorry for my previous review .. My nose is confuse ,,,I have to repost and describe for what exactly I sense and perceive from this gem..I feel familiar with something and I always thought,,it's not the SUNFLOWER from EA..It's KENZO FLOWER*in a darker richer earthly and nasty It would be an intense version in my mind...more flirt, play and mysterious.

As Malegria mentioned it DOES make me think of "ripe cherries dipped in wine." In fact, to my nose it's more like ripe cherries dipped in wine AND THEN in (low fat) icing sugar... so slightly on the gourmand side, but of course, not sickeningly so. I also agree with the rest here, it does smell sweet in a mature way, not a childish/girly one. This one's a fragrance for women, and is not for teenyboppers.

Unfortunately, i don't get as many woodsy notes as i thought i would, but nevertheless, i really like this product. Too bad another great fragrance got discontinued!

very interesting fragrance!it smells like cherry,a little sweet, but not very sweet. It is fruity, but not girlish.A little reminds me Amor Amor but London is not so sweet and more mature.I like it very much!
And I think that this perfume will be good as a day perfume and also as a night perfume.

Paul Smith London is nice, but for what it is I have met far more magnificent fragrances since then. I've owned it for a while, and as time goes on I notice that it is more fruity - than spicy or woody or anything else. But that's probably my nose maturing, since I'm still pretty young. While I don't think London is a bad scent, I would recommend others that are better: John Galliano's new fragrance, Amethyst by Lalique, F by Feragamo, even Dior Addict.

It smells of sour cherry jam to me.
Yammy, yet subtle and feminine.
Develops well on the skin - no unpleasant surprises:-)
Feels a bit of a lollypop - the sweetness is perfectly acceptable for both summer and winter but I believe it will feel warmer and better in winter.
To me the base is definitely vanilla - have no idea where all the "green notes"have gone.

This is a fragrance that will slip and fit into your lifestyle very comfortably. I love it. It’s a rich fragrance which will constantly change and release new smells once applied. It’s flirty, and sexy, and what I love about this is how it gets you noticed. London is a great fragrance for a night out, as it may be a little to rich for daytime wear. It will last strongly throughout the evening and will definitely attract male attention; I get compliments throughout the night when I wear this fragrance so expect compliments to be made throughout the night. A great flirty perfume.

Paul Smith London seems to be a "love it or hate it"-fragrance! I'm definitely in the "love it" corner. On me, it has just a vague hint of vanilla, while the heliotrope and neroli are a lot more prominent, and the anise adds some extra kick to it (and as a licorice-loving Scandinavian, that's a plus!). It's very complex and multi-layered: floral, sweet, spicy, sweet again...
It might be a little too rich for everyday use, but it's the perfect party-all-night scent!

Bought London by Paul Smith without testing based on reviews. What a mistake. Maybe it is just my chemistry, but this perfume is just awful. Smelled like mildew mixed with cedar.

To each his own, heh? I am not an Anglomaniac except for may be 70s music, but if I would like to feel "london-ey" I would wear a perfume that has nothing to do with English perfume makers - oh the irony

Paul S`s London is a fun scent though - creates a mood, not just adds to your mood that`s made up already.

The "Anglophiles" and those who adore LONDON might be tempted into buying this scent, but it's nothing special. It points into the direction of Shalimar LIGHT, but is not as good as Guerlain. I think LONDON is an average perfume, but I like the bottle, the design and the brand name.

I agree with Malegria - Paul Smith is a totally under-rated brand. I already have Paul Smith Rose, and I LOVE IT - IT'S THE BEST ROSE SCENT EVER!!

But Paul Smith London...? What does London smell like? I thought the scent would be of underground Tube stations and vintage fashion... It's listed as oriental woody, but doesn't smell like that to me... closer to a floral fruity, without being overly sweet or flowery.

It's a complicated scent - no jokes when I say complicated. Every couple of minutes new notes are revealed, as it constantly changes on your skin. It's sweet, then slightly bitter, then floral, then herby, then fruity, then smokey, then vanillary... If you aren't paying particular attention, you would think it's a "deep" fragrance in the same way that Shalimar is deep (but it is quite different to Shamilar).

It actually smells a lot like Dior Addict (that's why I didn't buy it - already had London). The differences between the two are: London is fruitier and (I think) more complex; while Dior Addict is darker and as time wears on it becomes deeper, launching you into the rich vanilla and tonka bean which London doesn't have (at least not in that quantity). Addict leaves you with a mysterious powdery base, whereas London has a more joyful ending.

At first I didn't know whether to love or hate the bottle. But now I know that I HATE IT - because it has such poor spraying action, and the thing's bulky and hard to handle! But purple does suit the fragrance...

This brand - I strongly believe - is seriously under-appreciated. I love London by Paul Smith - it has it`s own character, it`s own charm, like nothing else.It smells like ripe cherries dipped in wine.Lime and lilac add a breath of freshness, and I absolutely don`t feel any anise, which suits me perfectly.Vanilla is very nice here too, powdery and soft, and in the end you get a little heliotrope too, for dessert.
