Playboy introduces two new fragrances inspired by luxury, glamour and extravagant parties - the first fragrant duo that includes Playboy VIP for Him and Playboy VIP for Her fragrances.

Playboy VIP for Him is for men who are "irresistibly charming and stylish, always in the right place at the right time." It is described as an unusual and seductive scent of charismatic men.

It opens with fresh bergamot and green tones of rhubarb, enriched with spicy rum. The heart includes aquatic notes and lavender, highlighted by juicy apple. The sensual base seduces with white chocolate, tonka beans and sandalwood.

It is available as 50 ml EDT with an accompanying line of cosmetics. Playboy VIP for Him was launched in 2012.

Playboy VIP for Him Fragrance Reviews

Coty swung for the fences on this one and hit it out of the park. This is a massive leap forward for the Playboy brand name, the first male release that will attract more than a legion of pubescent teens looking for a cheaply priced and marketed product promising a guaranteed trip to second base on date night by cashing in on the name brand recognition of a dementia sufferer on Viagra parading around as a connoisseur of bleach blonde bimbos from trailer parks across North America.
VIP is a nice gourmand unique for its price point. It even smells better on top than the recent Hugo Red release for men that has this same rhubarb prominence on top but falls apart with the synthetic metallic notes. With this you get just a pinch of fresh citrus that fades quickly as the rhubarb takes control two minutes in. The rhubarb takes center stage for a couple songs (10 minutes) before the rum comes forward and claims its place of prominence and the rhubarb becomes a background singer. While the rum comes forward you can begin to smell the uplift of the synthetic but still well done white chocolate note here that was beautifully balanced by the rhubarb and cream soda like tonka in this one that smells just a bit gingery and uplifting.
The dry down keeps the white chocolate prominent while the rhubarb flickers out, replaced by a more prominent presence of tarty red apple. Longevity is very solid for a Playboy at 5-7 hours depending on skin chemistry and this one projects moderately the first hour and a half before settling into a skin scent. One of the reviewers below is absolutely correct in calling this an extremely sensual and reliable close quarters scent. It's a fantastic budget fragrance that deserves more appreciation. Is easily found for between $5-$10 after Christmas in many department stores on clearance and will serve your rotation well in winter in your oriental arsenal, especially come Christmas time. This is sweet, but never really cloying or unbalanced. It is very adeptly balanced and evolves nicely in four tiers and ends as a creamy white chocolate layer cake topped with tarty rhubarb and apples. Thought the whole VIP mantra is a cheap and silly reference to night clubs, think MVP instead, as this is a bargain basement performer here that rises well above its price point and establishes itself as one of the great cheap gourmands along side Jordan Legend, Cuba Prestige and Animale Animale.

I want to get this one for my fiance. I remember he tried it out at the store and I was stunned it was playboy brand. I actually really like it. I can smell the white chocolate very well. Its almost like the men's version of BS fantasy. Its also the only men's cologne that I could find in the store that had white chocolate in the notes. I hope I can find the edt at Ross, but I did see the aerosol version at my kmart, not a big fan of those, but whatever. Its a nice little bargain find.

One of my favorite fragrances for men. I love white chocolate tones in combination with rum. I like the sweet fragrances - even for men.

I respectfully disagree with the comparisons to dark temptation. The main draw in VIP is White chocolate and vanilla. The main draw in DT is dark chocolate. VIP is definitely sweet in a "white" way and DT is sweet in a dark chocolate way.
VIP is sweet and sexy. I bought a 3.4 oz from Ross for $7.99. That was a great bargain. It does sadden me however that VIP does in fact belong in the bargain bins.
VIP is the only mainstream fragrance that I could find with the note of white chocolate. That is the only reason I bought it and it's the only playboy frag I was curious about for that reason.
As with most perfumes manufactured by Cote this stuff is poor quality. This is a skin scent that will only last a few hours at most.
YouTube reviewer Brandon Thompson created a fragrance starting line up concept. You have 6 colognes like six players on a basketball team.
You have your 1st man - 5th man. Your 6th man is your back up guy.
1. Signature scent
2. Work scent
3. Going out scent
4. Date scent
5. Close quarter scent
And your last guy is your upscale/special occasion scent.
For me VIP would be my close quarter scent due to its light projection and alluring sweetness. So it is good for something but it is sparking my curiosity to try House of Martiarch's Coco Blanc.

I quote something I agree with
"[ian85] Supermarket fragrance in the whole acception of those words. Nothing stylish, nothing charming, only vulgarity at the best price... and headache. You can find better fragrances at the same price on the net..."

I got this one today (blind buy based on reviews from here)
It's an everyday cheep supermarket scent that you can wear it easily before you got out (not more than 2-4 sprays, because it will be annoyingly cloying) I think this one (VIP) is a good copycat of 'Axe Dark Temptation: Chocolate Man' I don't know which one is "better" yet.

Overall: I like it for a cheap frag. Is better than others (if you like it sweet like I do...) it's not gourmand or anything... it's SYNTHETIC, please have the balls to accepted. :) But then again, it's supposed to be synthetic, it's a 10$/€ frag.

On the other hand Cuba Gold Cuba Paris for men is FAR FAR (FAR...) MORE BETTER fragrance for about the same price and a true impersonator of Le-Male

So yes 6.5/10 for VIP

I wouldn't say this fragrance has enough complexity or originality to be considered a classic oriental, which typically are defined by rare and unusual notes, but Playboy VIP is certainly one of the richer and more well developed oriental gourmand fragrances you will find at a mass market price point. My first impression was of Mugler A-Men with all of its controversial notes replaced with more crowd-pleasing alternatives - red fruits where the iris would be and white chocolate standing in for coffee. Of course this is an oversimplification, but as a gourmand, I think VIP succeeds. The comparison to PR 1 Million is valid, but VIP's necessary reliance on lighter, more fugitive synthetic fragrance ingredients lends it a softness that PR's gold bottle lacks. In my experience, ladies love the smell of this juice and may enjoy wearing it themselves, the only wild card being the prominent synthetic musk molecule, perhaps an unpredictable reagent with individual chemistry.

I'm toying with the idea of getting a big bottle of this as I've seen the 100ml bottle (3.4oz) on one of the websites here in the UK for only £3.00 (that's about $5.00), which is insanely cheap! I already have a couple of the women's ones - Play It Pretty and Play It Spicy - and now I'm thinking from the reviews of this that it might be just as suitable, and wearable for a woman as much (if not more) than a man.

Any of the guys (or women!) on here who agree PLEASE let me know what you think by PM'ing me. Of course, I might just go ahead right now and order myself the big bottle ... hmmmm ....... I'll get back to this a bit later and if I have got the bottle I'll review it !

This is absolutely irresistible!! To me its up there with le male, blue jeans, and ck one shock. What I like about this is, its not super woody and spicy. I can only stand so much spice. I like the smooth rum and white chocolate notes. The watery accords and apple work very well in this to freshen it up. This is one I want again when I run out.

Playboy VIP for Him opens like with a conventional men cologne of lavander. But after about 15 minutes, it turns into a warm scent of apple and rum, quite yummy, although the lavander cologne vibe never really leaves. I don't get a lot of white chocolate. There is a slight milky feel but it doesn't really have the powdery texture of white chocolate in some fragrances. The late drydown is dominated by tonka bean, combined with apple and rum, I sometimes get a ripe banana illusion.

The sillage is relatively close but the scent remains intense, and the longevity is around 8 hours. Playboy VIP is really nothing complicated, just a simple yummy fragrance. There are certainly other more interesting gourmand fragrances, but if you only need an occasional apple pie fix, considering the price, Playboy VIP is really not bad.

Playboy VIP owes much to the Tim McGraw line for paving the way for boozy, sweet, tarty sour mainstream fragrances sold at affordable prices for the bargain hunter. This is a very impressive release by Playboy, which along with Hollywood, are two very good budget fragrances that can easily be had after Christmas for around $5 a bottle at any American Walgreens, K-Mart or Walmart.
Dipping its feet into the realm of gourmand, VIP blasts off with a sour, tarty rhubarb and red delicious apple with boozy, sweet rum. After about 15 minutes the white chocolate cake rises into the mix and balances the fragrance into something rather enjoyable and nice.
Sure, you can smell the synthetics and this will easily be dismissed by many of the elitists on our boards who don't respect anything that doesn't say Dior, Mugler (even though they can't pronounce it) or fit into the niche category; but for those looking for a cheap starter fragrance for the 25 and under crowd, this is a great fall, winter, spring fragrance that doesn't project that strongly that the synthetics get in the way of an enjoyable wear and that has decent longevity at around 5-8 hours, which is remarkable for a Playboy (they usually average around four hours).
Smells like a white chocolate rum cake with a side of apple pie with whipped cream on top; with a few synthetics in between. Not bad at all.

Very nice casual scent. The most prominent notes are the rum, apple, and tonka beans. The white chocolate is there but faint. Average sillage, stays on my skin for about 3-4 hours before having to reapply. Combined with the bodyspray and showergel though it easily last anywhere from 7-9 hours. Brilliant Playboy. Just brilliant.

I got this for my husband because I loved the sweet, sexy smell of it. He has more expensive colognes, but to me, this smells expensive. It smells very well blended and mellow. It just smells intoxicating to me. It smells somewhat similar to Bod Man Body Heat(hope they add this to database soon) which is another I really like. I like sweet, but masculine scents on my husband and this one really is both. I just know my husband pulls off this kind of scent well.

Edit: I sometimes spray the bed with this because it's so great smelling. When spraying the bed tonight I noticed this isn't as purely masculine as some colognes. I think I might try wearing this myself because I love sweet scents. I think this is unisex enough that I can pull it off. I wonder if my husband will notice ;)

Not bad. I'm a woman and I bought this for me. It's nice, sweet and gourmand but still retains a masculine edge. Very unisex. If I had a man that smelled like this, I would be so happy!

I love another reviewer below who said Magic Mike would smell like this! It's true he would. It's minutely sleazy, a pretty boy who likes the clubs but underneath is a bit of a sweetheart would like this.

This smells devine for person that will enjoy gourmand type scents. This fragrance has an initial opeening of a rich creamy white chocolate balanced with the warmth of tonka bean and has a subtle watery accord to it then it settles to a warm ambery burnt caramel type scent and this fragrance is not offensive in any way and it has a drydown of some designer scents and for a crazy low price point,This is a steal....

I'm pretty sure Magic Mike smells like this male version of a stripper scent - heady vanilla overload. No bergamot at all in the opening notes, it dived straight to a dirty medley of vanilla, tonka and sandalwood, with sandalwood being the redeeming note adding character to this otherwise atypical female stripper scent.

The Playboy VIP smells like a mix of "le Male" and "Blue jeans" and they are simaler or blended well, I was confused when I first smelled it on a man. I can decipher scents I know but I was stumped. I got the body spray cause its nothing but second best for me at moment. I dig it...untill everyone starts to

This scent is definitely masculine. Woody, musky but sweetened by chocolate and vanilla notes.
I would imagine a young man between the age of 15-20 wearing this scent while he is dressed in a stylish, high street label, smart casual outfit.

Sillage is pretty good for the first hour and then it sticks moderately close to the skin. Longevity is around 4-5 hours but on clothes it lasts for a day.

And yes, I see a striking resemblance with Parco Rabanne's 1 Million.

Top:
I get a citrus powdery type of a smell. The citrus is obviously the bergamont and the powder is from the Tonka (Which on my skin ironically is present in the top not the base) The rhubarb is also present and blends quite nicely with the powdery citrus smell. The run is present but in the background for now. It's pleasant enough.

Mid:
In the mid the Rum really comes out and is paired with the apple accord, I do not get any "water notes". This is by far the best part of the fragrance along with the best part of ANY playboy fragrance. (Note that I am a fan of the other playboy fragrances as well) It is sweet, rich, and creamy, which is due to the rum. The best way that I can describe it is a Caramel Candy Apple. Its is beautifully blended and absolutely invigorating! The lavender is also there but very suddel... It is that kind of note that must be looked for.

Base:
Basic playboy drydown, if you have ever used any of the previous playboy scents than you know what I mean. It's not bad, just a very basic sandalwood and sweet musk. However this dry down does slightly separate itself from its predasecors by the white chocolate which makes it slightly sweeter, I also give playboy credit because this base smells a little bit less synthetic than it usually does.

**Personally I do not see any resemblance between this and one million, and very little similarities to Axe dark temptation, which is painfully synthetic.

It projects better than any of the other PB scents (3-6 feet do the first little while) then projects about a foot until it eventually comes closer to the skin. Longevity is hand in hand with projection, much better than you typical PB fragrance. 7-9 hours. This scent is appropriate for nearly any occasion in cooler weather, with the exception of anything too formal. For the price it is nothing short of a masterpiece and a great fragrance for teens. High recommendations from me!

Perfectly adequate sweet spicy scent for middle/highschoolers.

Initially a warm sweet spiciness like One Million. Quickly escalates to a more candy sweetness (from the white chocolate) with intense spiciness. Like someone said it's similar to an AXE scent.

Dries down to a powdery sweet scent. The sweetness is much more feminine but the spiciness brings it to the masculine side. I can see it being unisex. Can't see someone past 18 wearing this, sillage is low so it's not offensive.

Scent - 5/10
Lasting power - 7/10
Projection - 4/10

Score 5.5/10. Meh, better than axe

Final word - White chocolate spiced rum, definitely aimed at the younger generation. Takes heavy cues from One Million's work but doesn't put it all together the way Paco Robane does. Better cheapies out there.

My boyfriend and I were just in K-mart, and they had the new testers out for Christmas. Since he really liked Playboy Vegas, he spritzed some of this on him.
WOW! I like this so much better than any of the other Playboy scents that he has.
It's a warm and spicy aroma that really stands out! I tried the women's version on me, and I didn't like it nearly as much. I'm thinking of giving it a try myself.

Edit - After trying the VIP on my skin, I conclude that this smells much better on my boyfriend than it does on me. :-( It smells too much like aftershave on me. But it still smells great on him!

was able to test, and cover myself with this.
I must say, this is one of Playboy's good ones. It's a common fragrance, but well done in my opinion.
First off... it is a Tonka Bean Overload!! But not bad at all. Sweet and Strong Vanilla sweetness, almost candy bubblegum like.
Potent and it does last a decent length of time even in hot Florida weather.
This reminded me VERY much of Axe Dark Temptations, which is also a TonkaBean overload. VIP is more classy and less synthetic.
Also rings strongly of Antonio Banderas "Seduction in Black", but without the blackberry notes.
Yes, this also means it has the same TonkaBean head as Armani Code... It's also like a less sweet JPG "Le Male", but without the fizzy green.
for the price, i'd love a full bottle of this, over the other alternatives.
