Asteria (for women)

Designer: Princesse Marina De Bourbon Olfactive Group: Floral Woody Musk

Asteria was introduced in 2003 in its magical and seductive notes. The bottle is colored in blue tones, awesomely designed. Top notes of plum and juniper blend in with the heart of peony and narcotic rose spiced with clove. The base radiates with fresh woody notes of cedar, warm and soft, milky sandalwood, sensuous musk and amber. It is available as 30 and 50 ml EDP.

I adore peonies, those big, blowsy blooms with their divine musky fragrance. The mixture of notes is what tempted me to try this, and I'm not disappointed I did, although it's not quite what I'd hoped.

Unlike asilverfire614's experience, I was lucky enough to get full-blown peony with a fainter, background bunch of velvety roses painted in watercolours. This dries down to a very light amber & cedar (I don't particularly sense any sandalwood or plum). The cloves are there all the time, but more faintly than I wanted. No vanilla at all for me, and again this is a shame as I would have liked at least a little.

I feel the volume is turned down on this fragrance - it's still lovely & I don't regret buying it, but one wishes they had been a little braver. Perhaps it's just too refined for me? Perhaps I'm just too greedy? I want to ask the person adding the spices... (in the manner of Oliver Twist) "Please, Sir, can I have some more?"

I sampled this in the mall a few days ago and when I looked it up on here I was surprised that it's listed as a floral woody musk. To my nose it would be considered a floral fruity gourmand...

Opening was very sweet plum with a touch of rose. Never detected juniper, peony, or cloves. What I DID soon detect was lots of sweet vanilla...which is really strange since that's not even listed in the notes.

It was sweet and edible even throughout the dry-down. Lasted about four hours. I'm confused about the vanilla and was surprised to see juniper, peony, cloves, cedar, etc listed in the notes.

Doesn't smell at all like it sounds! I will say that it's very similar to a bunch of other floral fruity gourmands...nothing remarkable about it, in my opinion. (Except for the really cool futuristic space bottle! :)
