VERSILIA PLATINUM - Fresh, Floral, Warm, Woody, Chypré

Unique and uniquely precious. Fire of eternal opposites: sun and noon, day and night, gold and silver. The scent starts fresh and spicy with citrus notes, becoming rich in floral aromas – geranium, freesia, rose, Lilly- of- the- valley…..and finally it becomes warm and intense, recalling the woody tones of cedar, the dry notes of vetiver and the exotic tones of incense and patchouly. A strong but yet enigmatic fragrance.

From the diary of Maitre Parfumeur “… That day I almost reached the peaks of the Apuan Alps, lost in contemplation of the sea. I was caught between two very different worlds, that I embraced in one glance: the burning sun of the beaches and the glassy reflex on the marble mountains behind me, the intense blues of the Tyrrhenian sea and the powerful greens of the chestnuts woods; the fleeting beauty of a beach- side summer and the eternal austerity of this fiery part of Versilia. I imagined the charm of a perfume recalling that landscape, heir of distant moods, ductile and mysterious, familiar yet different from any other perfume. A unique fragrance, as unique as the most precious metal, platinum”.

Head Notes: Bergamot, Grapefruit, Pink Pepper, Black Pepper, Rhubarb, Mirth.

Heart Note: Geranium, Freesia, Magnolia, Rose, Lilly of the Valley

Base Note: Vanilla, Immortelle, Oak Moss, Incense, Cedar Wood, Vetiver, Patchouli.

Versilia Platinum is a bold, sort of severe, woody-resinous fragrance that opens with an extremely efemeral green-citrusy accord (bergamot and grapefruit). Incense takes over right away joined by a considerable amount of powerful cedarwood. In this phase there's an overall peppery quality that drives the fragrance towards a modern territory while some floral patterns add great complexity and preserve Platinum from becoming the typical woody citrus.

The drydown is extremely deep and intense with woods galore and incense joined by a remarkable immortelle/vetiver accord adding even more body and just a tad of sweetness to what could have otherwise been an extremely sharp fragrance. The fragrance's evolution ends at 8hrs mark with a close to the skin yet incredibly increddibly noticeable immortelle note that's simply beautiful. Modern? Yes, most definitely but at the same time you shouldn't expect something a-là Comme Des Garcons or Etat Libre D'Orange. This is more like a better refined and natural smelling version of Escentric 01 (not Molecule 01) Challenging? Maybe. The strong cedarwood together with a massive frankincense presence and the immortelle won't surely appeal to anyone and may, in ceratin cases, bring to mind of woody amber.

Despite being often marketed as feminine, I would definitely classify this as an intense masculine that will appeal to anyone into bold and distinctive woody fragrances.

Fantomas

It is a sour steel. At it very sharp turned sour green notes which keep all the day long. First minutes I wished to lower acidity even to wash off it but nevertheless it is difficult enough thing and later it was pleasant to me. It is the present man's aroma reminding a steel block.
